Ok so I posted replies to every one a few days ago and got no replies and so I checked and of course there was no posts in the normal place! I didn't know where to find us.
I am just gonna do a for me post. Sorry everyone. i did include you all last time.
So Jemima has dropped heaps of feeds and is now only having 4-6 bf's a day. 2 months ago she was having 10-12+ feeds when she was sick and refused food so it feels very sudden to me to not be feeding her as much. ATM I am giving her a morning feed, a before nap sleep, a before bed feed and a feed during the night. Sometimes like today she feed at about 5 or so and then still fed before sleep. but it feels like it is all happening too fast and I am loosing our bond. Sometimes she asks for a feed but then she will only sip at the boob and then giggle at me without taking anything.
On other fronts, as some of you may know I am passionate about birth and helping women have lots of choices about how they birth their babies. I have looked around my community and looked for groups who could use my help but there are none... However I am not a girl to give up or let the fact that nothing is being done for women to stop me. So I have decided to start the Friends of the birth centre sunshine coast. I have invited all of the prominent midwives and doulas and anyone else who cares about birth in the local area to help me get a birth centre and also to get one-one midwifery care for the women who live here. It is a huge task but I have never let "it is hard to do" stop me from anything in this life and so I have no intention of letting it stop me now. I am a member of the maternity coalition who believe in continuity of care. Which means having one midwife to follow you thru the whole pregnancy. Studies show that if you have one known midwife, then whatever happens with your birth, the support you receive can help you cope with any of the circumstances that you face. That is what I want for my community. So that is what I am going to create. I really feel strong and powerful and in control of my local communities choices. no ones else is offering leadership so that is what I am going to give and I want the best for us. I hope you all will support me because I think that there will be days when it is hard and I need your words of encouragement.
i get you on the dropping feeds thing - E seemed to drop them very suddenly and i felt a bit lost for a bit. now that she's on her third week of being unwell (gastro week 1, ear infection and maybe UTI week 2 and now a viral throat infection i think), she is feeding allllllllll the time again. i don't mind, but i'm finding it hard on me. i'm working, come home and all she wants is boob. i also had the gastro bug for 4 days (she had it for 2), and last week i had the throat things (which has now travelled into my chest and appears to be bacterial) so i'm not recovering very well. it's hard work!
and on that note, i'm going to apologise for the mostly selfish post and sign off. time to try and get a cuppa into me, then into the shower and up to the GP. Again
well jamie may not have had gastro after all he has a suspected case of the chicken pox going to get into the doctor to double check but now we suspect he passed it onto his cousin everyone is like dont worry but i feel horrible being a parent is so much fun i hope he didnt give it to anyone at playgroup last week but thats where i suspect he got it from in the first place blah having a sick toddler is no fun at all
Oh hugs J!! I have a sick boy here too.... Croup and apparently the GP thinks he has asthma! And he doesn't even seem sick until nighttime when he struggles to breathe.

Hey Jacinta don't feel bad about the chicken pox being passed on babe. It is good for kids to get it young. If I lived near by I would be bringing J around for a pox party. They don't get nearly as sick as they would if they don't get it until they are adults.
Bella - that's a REALLY inspiriting idea regarding the Birth Centre with the continuity of care - don't let anyone poo-poo your dream, your passion for supporting Mothers and their Birth Choices is strong and the passion oozes out of you so if anyone can achieve this - its YOU! I'm really proud of you and think your vision is perfectly achievable - so go for it babe! Fight the good fight (hehehehe)
J - my god son recently had chicken pox (he is 2.5yrs) and he was fine, running around like he was perfectly healthy - just couldn't go to childcare until the contagious stage had passed. Hope Jamie is ok and happy and doesn't get too sick. It's impossible to keep our kids out of circulation, they are always gonna pass on bugs (and receive then from others), all we can do is our best.
Nicky - sorry to hear Lachie has croup - I think often the diagnosis of croup and asthma get confused. Both myself and my brothers all had croup as babies/toddlers - Mum had us all in hospital at one time or another My oldest brother was the worse - and then his 2nd daughter was the same - some doctors said croup, some said asthma - probably both. Hope he gets getter soon. You probably already have one - but if not - get a vaporiser - I swear by ours Would be great to help him with croup.

AFU - We have just gone through a two week period of very early morning waking again - I'm talking 430-5ish - it's a killer! Last night Bailz slept 7pm-5am without stiring (this rarely happens) and it was AWESOME, then he went back to sleep until 545 when I bought him into bed with us. Then he had a 2.5 hour nap at care today. He had also been VERY fussy with food but this seems to have come to an end too - tonight he just about emptied the fridge/cupboard for dinner as he was so hungry. He just got two molars through so perhaps that was the problem? Who knows, anyway, hoping he has another good sleep tonight as I have been getting by on bugger all sleep - and am run down as a result (and full of pimples which always happens when I am a bit of a wreck healthwise). Thursday we go to get Bailey's orthotics fitted so that will be interesting. Not sure how he will react, will most likely try to pull them off and carry on a bit (as would I) so it might be a cuddly weekend. We'll just go with the flow and try to make it as easier on him as possible. I'm sure if you have logged onto facebook you may have seen the million or so photo's I have uploaded since getting my new camera - I cannot stop taking photo's. I am going to do a course. There is one called LOVEYOURCAMERA which is run all over Aus, so next time she comes to Adelaide I am there. I have been wanting this camera for ages and it has really sparked an interest and a bit of a passion in me, loving that I am indulging my creative side Anyhoo, I will probably take a million or so pics of our kids at the Zoo day hehehehehehe
ok well turns out its not chicken pox really dont know if i should believe the doctor though my gut says it is i really hate country doctors i swear they have no idea being a parent is awesome but sometimes it sucks its so hard being worried about a small person especially when u know theres something wrong with them
Hello Ladies! How frustrating that all the posts have been lost... I have been only really visiting my belly buddy group and didn't realise the loss of posts actually affected everyone. So there isn't really much to catch up on!
Jacinta, don't you have to be concerned having chicken pox around with a brand new baby? Someone in my buddy group was in contact with someone with shingles and had to be kept away from her son because he had been exposed to that person. I'm not completely sure, but that's what I vaguely remember. If your still not convinced it's definitely not the chicken pox, maybe get a second opinion to ease your mind? Ro has already had the vax, but they told me she can still get it, it's usually just milder.. hopefully all my children get it at the same time so we can get it over and done with! Goodluck with the rest of your pregnancy.
BG, I've seen you've been sick you poor thing... sounds like you and little miss have been through the ringer. I honestly don't know how you mumma's manage working and having little ones... no way could I do it. I'd be absolutely too bombed to come home to little munchkins. All power to you working Mum's!
Naomi, Like I said to BG, I do not know how you cope working with your little one... especially when your still doing a night feed! I don't think I'd cope now if I still had to night feed Brooklyn... I've been very fortunate, both Brooklyn and Rochelle finished night feedings at 8 weeks. I didn't think it was going to happen with Brooklyn, but right on 8 weeks, she just stopped waking up for that 2-3ish feed. Sounds like your doing a wonderful job and staying on top of it all!
Niadalla, Croup... OMG! I had my first experience with Croup a couple of months ago with Rochelle... that really gave me the meaning of sleepless night - I'd never really had one before then. Croup is awful and so worrying isn't it. Thought Ro was going to suffocate!
Bella, What your doing sounds amazing! Good luck with it.... Hope little miss Mima is well too.
AFU... Well I had baby number 3 on the 7th - she's a bit over 2 weeks old now. We called her Avangaline (A-van-ja-leen) Catherine Lawlor. She was only 6lb 3oz born, but 54cms long, not quite 3 weeks early. Was a little unexpected, I had some prelabor (I thought it was the kind that women experience for weeks and weeks before anything actually happens - I hadn't had it with the other two girls though) and woke up early in the morning in labor. I had an epidural this time... it was planned due to expected complications in third stage. I was pretty disappointed with the epidural and if I'm perfectly honest, although there was no contrax pain, 2nd stage was unbelievably hard and there was so much pain/pressure like I had never experienced with the other girls. With Ro and Brook, 2nd stage happened so quick and when I felt that pressure I was able to push them out relatively easy and it was over and done with... but the epidural slowed everything down and made it really hard to push efficiently and since it took so long pushing (about half an hour - lots longer than the other 2) I felt like I was in pain for ages. Danny said that it seemed really slow her coming out with me pushing where as he said with Brooklyn, I pushed and her head literally just popped out and then the body just fell out. But in the end, for third stage, we all agree that it was wise that I had the epidural. Thank god! Unfortunately, with my next (and last) baby, I will need to have an epidural for third stage again. It's a little daunting and off putting - I felt like the delivery wasn't as good as my first two due to the epidural... I didn't get that high from delivery like I did with the other's - although I still got/have that high that you get from those hormones that come with a new baby! Maybe when it's time for number 4, I can talk with my Ob again and since it will be our last baby, maybe there is an alternative to having the epidrual so that I can have my last baby the way I want. Ava is a very good little bub so far, still sleeping all the time... I'm waiting for her to wake up any day now along with some crying (very quite baby so far, maybe because she's so sleepy) - but so far, I'm surprised how easy it's been. I've been by myself since coming home from hospital and it's been quite easy... I honestly think it's gotten easier each child. Still managing to do my housework... not much has changed! YET! Till she wakes up anyway. lol. I was worried how Brooklyn was going to handle the new addition as she is very much a Mummy's girl, but she has been wonderful and hasn't really had any issues. Well except she shows interest in interacting with the baby and gets frustrated since we limit her - she's still a bit too rough. Rochelle is very maternal again this time, constantly wants to hold Ava and if you look away for just a second Rochelle will have her shirt up trying to breastfeed poor little Ava! Lovely times.. my girls have been so good to me. But Brooklyn has transitioned to a single bed wonderfully and has been eating with her spoon and fork for about a month before I had Ava, so everything has worked out so well despite my worries. It's amazing when you bring home a new baby, just how big your older children look... Brooklyn seemed HUGE! I actually didn't realise how chubby she was or how tall she was until I had Ava. Brooklyn's actually in the 90th percentile for height! She seems like such a BIG little girl now too... naaawwww.... why do they have to grow up so quick? Anyway, things are good!

Well Ds' croup has cleared up thankfully. He slept the whole night last night which was great. Allira's teething badly though ( 4 teeth at once... and the big buggers at the back) So we still didn't get a great deal of shut eye.

Hope you are all well. I wish the sun was out so I could send the kiddies outside to wear them out, but it's pretty chilly and I don't really want DS getting sick again.
Congrats on the birth of Avangaline - Love her name Catherine, very very pretty! How little and precious she sounds! Glad to hear the that Brooklyn and Rochelle are also doing well
Bailey doesn't have a night feed - he hasn't since about 8 months (around NY he dropped the last one) - but he still wakes - we just settle him with cuddles
Our appt went quite well with Baileys orthotics fitting today - although it didn't quite start out that way. Initially the orthotics they'd made were knee high - we well as padded ones for night Wasn't expecting THAT! Then they physio and orthotics 'guy' assessed Bailey again and decided that they didn't need to be that big - and took them off and came back with them amended/trimmed so they now just fit inside some high top sneakers. Thank god because every time they put them anywhere near Baileys feet and legs he just thrashed around screaming and crying in fear - it was heartbreaking and I was very very worried about how he would adjust to it all. But clearly its not the feel so much but the look of them that had him worried as now that they are pretty much inside his boots and out of sight he has been ok. Still tried to pull his shoes off and had a few cries, but nothing too dramatic or distressing. For now we don't have to use the night ones either. We basically have to wean him onto them over the next few days - eg 2 hrs then 4hrs then 6 hrs etc, then he just needs to wear them when he is active and playing (so apart from daytime naps and overnight) and anytime he is doing any weight bearing. However the physio said to make sure he gets some sensory play with his bare feet too - eg while we are at the beaches near Cairns etc and in the grass. So glad about this as every thing I read indicates how important this is for the development of little feet. Just gotta keep an eye out for pressure sores etc. Mum has him tomorrow and I know she'll be extra careful and vigilant with this.
This time next week I'll be in Melbourne, can't wait to see you all, it's been tooooooooo long!!

I have a question about Brooklyn. I have been concerned about her lately. She doesn't talk anymore. She doesn't say our names, Ta or anything anymore... It's been a few months when I think about it. I googled about her going backwards with speech and some stuff on autism came up. I had a read and didn't think much of it because when I look at her, she seems/looks like a normal child. But the more I think about it, maybe she does do some odd things? Brooklyn likes to get things like nappies, blocks, cards etc. And carry them one at a time to another destination (usually wherever I am, like the kitchen) and stack them or line them up. I didn't think anything of it at first, but is it weird she does the trip to get one item at a time? She'll do it till there are no more of the newborn nappies left or if it's blocks, until she can find no more. She constantly squeals too - for no reason, out of the blue. That's something she's always done and I've always thought she was just expressing frustration but Daniel has always said surely it can't be normal. And since reading about autism, I've really noticed that Brooklyn doesn't always respond to her name. I've obviously noticed it before, but I always just thought she was ignoring me thinking she's a very independent child, yet a mummy's girl because she always likes to be close, but doing her own thing. Does this stuff sound normal to any of you? Are your kids doing similar things, gone backwards in speech etc? I'm not over worried because I think maybe I'm just being a paranoid mum and it's probably nothing. But at the same token, I don't want to leave it if it is something! I'm sure Rochelle was talking by now.
Eta - I forgot to add, that since... I think late last year, Brooklyn has been sucking on furry things. But most commonly, a toy dog... She likes to suck on it's ears. She would love to be constantly attached to it, but we only allow her to have it at nap and bed times. Is that weird that she sucks on furry things? She's happy otherwise!

Catherine, i think maybe you would get more helpful answers in the autism general chatter threads. not that i'm wanting to label Brooklyn at all! but those ladies will have experience where we will pretty much be running off emotion and joining you in hoping it's nothing.
Thanks Lee, I think I'm looking into it too much. Funnily enough she was yelling 'Daddy!' and pointing outside over and over again this afternoon and was also saying 'booky' like she was trying to say her name. Like she read my mind about not talking. And I also was observing her when I was calling her name, I think she's just really concentrating on what she's doing. I reaply watched her today and I think she's just a different personality to Ro. Think I was just nit picking. Silly mumma!
