    Well what a night.....

Poor Theo was awake screaming for hours, 5 to be exact, and nothing would calm him down, so after seeing an after hours doctor we were still no better off.

I took him to see my doc this morning and they said it would be either colic or reflux, but after seeing the mw this afternoon, and viewing his body language the mw said it is silent reflux, and that the AR formulas are really good for that, so will give it a go.

    stat update-
    weight- 3.7 kilos
    height- 52cms
    head- 35cms

after starting the formula and also giving infacol, he has been great today, so fingers crossed it will keep working.

    Hello Everyone!!!!!!

Firstly - Congrats Danielle on the birth of Oliver!! I really like the name Oliver.

Well........it's been a while since I posted on here. Our little man Cade Mitchell was born just over a week ago on the 6th April. We ended up having to have a C-Section which wasn't what I had expected but as long as the little guy made it safely into the world I'm happy.

I laboured for 10 hours before we realised that things were not progressing the way they should. I laboured drug-free which was my intent and thanks to Calmbirthing I can honestly say I loved my labour and my DP was an absolute rock to me through all of it.

Cade has turned my/our world upside down and I am so glad that we were blessed to have this baby.

Now onto breast feeding - MAJOR STRUGGLE - My milk still hasn't come in that much. It takes up so much of my day trying to breast feed a huge baby, then supplement and then express more milk in an attempt to get the feeding right. So many times I would like to have given up in the last few days but I am struggling on. Partly because DP is pushing me (he does this because even though I am tired and say I want to stop he knows me too well and wants me to succeed at this).

Speaking of DP - What a man I have. The guy has hardly been more than 2 steps away from the washing machine which is filled to the brim with gifts of clothing (this kid won't have to have any new clothes until we get his school uniform!) He does all of our sterilizing, he makes up the bottles, he does most of the nappy changes and makes sure that I am remembering to eat. Motherhood is huge! The control freak in me will have to step to the side and let a new part of me take over.

Well that is enough rambling from me. Cade is asleep but due to wake up soon for another feed. Did I mention how wonderful he is???

    hi there aussie

glad to hear that your DP is such a star - this is really a big time for the whole family and it's great that you're DP is so supportive.

i too keep looking at my little man and falling more in love, he is the (equal second) bee's knees.

i'm currently on the BFing/expressing/supplementing round about.... having had a decent night's sleep last night though, means that i'm a little more able to cope with it all today. having said that, i'm considering getting an au-pair for the final 2 months before we move o/s, as DH must go back to work and I wonder how i'm going to keep up with my 2y.o. man, who has boundless energy.

hope you're all loving every minute of this up-and-down rollercoaster ride.... enjoy!

    xx

Aussie - I am with you on breastfeeding, it's been a real struggle for me also. I spent a good part of last week in tears about it and hired a private lactation consultant. I went onmottilium but since came off as it gave me heart palpitations. I really thought I would BF willow over a year but due to supply issues I will be lucky to get to 3 months. It's very hard emotionally as it's supposed to be the natural thing, but I have had a readjustment this week. What will be will be and being miserable about my lack of supply was ruining my experience and negating any benefit of breast feeding. I guess my advice to you is try not to worry about it, I am doing 50/50 at the moment and I know Tanya is doing the same. BF isn't easy and it's not always the natural thing we think it's going to be. I do hope though yr milk comes in and you can enjoy a long BF career

Well done on 10 hours of drug free birthing Hun. I am so glad you loved your birthing experience. Calm birth was the best thing I did in my preggy and I absolutely loved birthing Willow too . I am so happy DP is so supportive. Has Cade made a visit to the shop yet??

One more thing... If you get really stuck on BF I found the private LC to be amazing, but also try not to beat yourself up over it like I did. It's hard and your definitely not alone.

    Happy Easter girls

we are having a nice Easter - I have prepared a little Swedish papier mâché Easter egg with some non-chocolate goodies for DS1. He has received lots of really nice chocolate eggs which is ironic but I've redistributed them to friend's kids (OMG I've turned into my mother)

am awake feeding DS2 who has the hiccups - so cute. 2w2d oldtoday- bless
