Re: nipple shield - I am with you, I have been using one since day 3. At the advice of shar, I tried her without the shield today and she sucked for 10 minutes or so, will continue to try at every feed, she only gave me 20 mins on the boob b4 she screamed her lungs out and so i gave in and gave her EBM - weak i know, I just cant bear her crying for too long...

Re: sleeping - Willow is a good night sleeper, often unsettled for periods through the day, but she is pretty good at night, I put it down to a good night routine my LC suggested... 9pm feed, then bath, them top up feed, then bed at 10.30. she wakes btw 2-3 then again at 6-7, so not too bad. DH gives her bottle at graveyard shift whilst I express...

Re: eating, its very hard the time to buy food and make it, we havent been eating the best, but are making do.

Happy 'One Week' Barney!!!!!

Today has been a good day for Cade and I. DP had to go to work today so I was a little anxious about doing it all on my own but we have had success.

My best friend, her two kids and her Mother came to visit at 10am this morning. They bought cake and also a meal for our dinner tonight. BF's Mum made the most beautiful blanket for cade it is all hand embroidered and would have taken many, many hours to make. I have to say I cried when I saw it.

Cade has been feeding well and sleeping pretty well today. At one feed today, using the nipple shield, he feed on one side for 1/2 an hour. That is the longest yet since he was born. I got excited and thought that maybe he had had enough to eat so I put him in the pram and took him for a short walk. Before long he was crying and making all his hungry noises and shoving his hands in his mouth so I took him back home and feed him his top-up feed. I find it very hard to know how much he gets from the boob each feed.

Hope all the other Mum's and bubs are well.

Emily Hazel arrived after a speedy 2 hour labour last night at 9.25. 8lb 13 oz. We didn't quite make it 2 the birth suite. She came in the corridor!

we are having a nice Easter - I have prepared a little Swedish papier mâché Easter egg with some non-chocolate goodies for DS1. He has received lots of really nice chocolate eggs which is ironic but I've redistributed them to friend's kids (OMG I've turned into my mother)

am awake feeding DS2 who has the hiccups - so cute. 2w2d oldtoday- bless

Well DS's first Easter is over. The Easter Bunny came and left him a Peter Rabbit book and a little bit of chocolate that Mummy and Daddy will help him to eat. We spent the day with DP's family which was nice.....I hope all of you had a nice Easter with your families as well.

we are still enjoying the long easter+anzac day weekend.... both DS are down having naps and i am about to knock off the remaining reading I have for last week's uni. Thank goodness this week is a holiday, as I am not taking much reading in - my feet are well and truly dragging. Thankfully there are only 5 weeks left in the semester.

we managed to avoid a major chocolate explosion this year - although i succumbed to some really nice little chocolate easter chickens that a friend gave DS1, too nice to not to let him have - so we shared. i found it quite tricky with balancing the (internal) guilt at depriving my DS1 of chocs (and thus opening a chocolatey pandora's box!) vs my own fears re: overdoing chocolate at easter.

it's all over for this year! next year we'll be in sweden, which is much less commercial and chocolatey-based and has lots more nice spring-type traditions (like coloured feathers on flowers, as quite often the real spring hasn't come through yet, so there aren't enough real flowers!)

Hey All-

Happy Easter / Anzac Day...

We have had such a nice weekend, the shop has been shut for 5 days and we have enjoyed relaxing and spending time as a family. DH is down the shop today doing some admin.

As far as where bub is at, she is on track to starting to sleep through, she has been sleeping to 4.30am on a regular basis with last feed being 9.30pm. Today looks like she will only have 5 feeds and is very relaxed, we will see how she goes at witch hour. We are still feeding out of the bottle 50/50 EBM and FF. I do try her on the boob at most feeds and although her sucking is getting better she still fuses and I still have really low supply, but am happy she's getting some breast milk.

Only just over a week before I go back to work I am going to miss Willow sooooooooo much!

Hiya Rowellen,

Glad to hear that all is good with you. Cade is asleep at the moment too. He seems to sleep for 3.5 to 4hrs at a time so I'm pretty happy with that. We got good blocks of sleep so everything else seems easy to manage when you're not too tired.

How is Emily going? Cade has a bad nappy rash. We had to take him to the doctors as nothing was clearing it up and he'd had it for a week. We tried all sorts of things and nothing worked. The doctor has put him on Cortisone 2 x a day and it seems to be clearing it up. Poor guy only cries when we change his nappy, it breaks my heart so hopefully it's all gone soon.

This thread is a little quiet, but it sure is nice to hear from you.

That nappy rash sounds nasty, poor Cade, I hope it clears up fast.

Oliver is doing well sleeping with / on us at night (won't settle in his basinet at night, fine during the day) and sleeps between 4 - 6 hours from about 8pm till 6am with one or two wakes so I really can't complain except I'd really like my bed back.

He had his tongue tie snipped on Thursday and I've noticed a difference in his feeding, not a huge HUGE difference but enough for me to keep at the breast feeding for now, I'm sure his tie under his upper lip is still hindering his attachment (I have to slip a finger under his lip to flare it out at 90% of all feeds)

DH leaves tomorrow for Canberra, he's got a 6 month contract down there for work. It's going to be so hard without him around during the week, we are going to try and get him flights home as often as possible for weekends, but who knows how that will go. We have flights for next weekend already booked as it was cheaper than his hotel room, but once he's found accommodation it's not as cost affective. He's looking at a room on Tuesday and hopefully that will come through or there'll be someone at his new job looking for a room mate.

Well best go, sitting in the GPs waiting room to get Olivers eyes checked, sticky eye from birth just isn't clearing up and gotten worse last 24 hours.

Danielle - Boo to your hubby going away I hope you get to seem him as much as possible. How is he feeding ATM after the snip? Hope it's gotten easier for you?

Rowellen - welcome back to the group

AFM - I am thinking I am going to loose my supply soon, it's been so hard to find the time to express as I have found myself back at work. I am struggling with juggling everything right now and am pretty sad about being back at work so soon The business is causing me a lot of stress right now but I am trying so very very hard to just enjoy every second with my beautiful little girl. She slept through for the first time last week - definitely a once off as she has gone backwards in the sleeping department, she was sleeping regularly till 4.30 and the past few nights its been more like 3.30. Oh well, I guess that happens. I am also trying to get back into shape, did my first body pump class back last week - nearly killed me and I went light. I am hoping DH will get home from the shop soon so I can make a 4.30 class tonight, I am planning on getting back teaching in 3 weeks time - eeek! Better hurry up and get fit and kick this baby weight!!!

Aussie: Emily's doing pretty good. SHe doesn't sleep much during the day but she's pretty good at night. I got 7 hours out of her the other night but not so lucky last night. Most nights now she goes about 4 or 5 hours. Last night she decided to have a play time at 12.30. Does Cade have lots of nappy free time? I had some issues with DS. I had him in cloth full time & he kept getting sores on his penis. It cleared up when I insisted on his nappy being changed every two hours during the day & I put a disposable on him at night instead of cloth & some nappy free time whenever possible.

Danielle: Oh no about your DH going away. I struggled so much this morning & DH had only gone to play golf. I don't know that I'd cope if he was gone most of the time. Do you have lots of support around? Poor Oliver. I hope he has recovered well.

Pumpgirl: Your doing really well with dealing your two babies together at the same time. It will get easier. I have to keep telling myself that too.
