Hello! Where are all the other may babes?

I'm sure you will all turn up soon . In the meantime, this little fella is eating up a storm! I wonder if it is common for boys to eat more than girls? What do the other mammas think?

    Also subbing!!

Bunny - I'm a FTM, I intend to breast feed and I'm also really really nervous! I want to give it a really good go but I am also not putting any pressure on myself if it were not to work for me! I'm just trying to keep it in my mind to go with the flow!

    Hello lovelies!!

Thanks Bella for telling us about this thread! You're right, I think Elijah will hit milestones around the same time as your bubs - L was a wee but earlier than his due date with most but not by much, and I'm extremely close with my bubs born in May 2012 mummies group.

E is 2+3 corrected today, he's slowly having more awake time and really starting to focus more ion things. No regular smiles but I thunk they will come in a few short weeks. Hea 4.54kg now, put on 390g in a week, so going great guns.

Hi ladies. I was really worried about breastfeeding too & I'll be honest the first few days are not fun. Had cracked, sore nipples and even expressed a few times in hospital to give my boobs a break but once my milk came in its been pretty good. Mckenzie was weighed today & is just over 3kg now so feeding going well. It does take time though. Feeding takes about an hour or more By the time you feed one side, change, feed the other side then settle. Lucky I have an angel baby & she feeds every 3-4 hours. Can't wait for you ladies to join us in here.

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014

Hey ladies! I'm here finally! Perfect time to check BB is when you're up nursing your newborn at midnight!!

Breastfeeding is tough, for both mama and baby. You're both learning and it doesn't happen straight away because your milk doesn't come in til day 3-5. My advice for when you first start is get assistance with the LC/MW as soon as possible. At every feed whist in hospital buzz the nurse to come and check that the latch is good, especially if it doesn't feel right or hurts. Expect a certain amount of discomfort, your boobies didn't do this before! Even third time round I have some cracks and grazes which hurt like a MOFO when she nurses but the pain goes away quickly once she is latched on and suckling well. Oh, get some Lansinoh nipple cream and use it ALL. THE. TIME. It will help keep your nipples soft and helps when you do have cracks/bleeding because my nips would bleed and stick to the nursing pad and then omg OUCH trying to peel that sucker off..

AFM - E's cord stump fell off at Day 5 and I wasn't expecting it to fall off until 7-10 days. It looks like an open wound (not pleasing to the eye that's for sure!!) but doesn't seem infected or sore which I was/am worried about. We also had our newborn photography shoot today and omg it's a whole new world with props and little girls.. I can't believe my baby is a week old today! Crazy!

Looking forward to welcoming you all into the May Babies thread!! xoxox

Don't anyone feel like they have to go to another thread if they have bubs in June. My baby was two weeks past edd with my first due in May 31/09, but I just stayed with my mates. It bonds everyone when you spend 9 months getting to know everyone.

Re: Babies born ~ May 2014

I think Coles have a 1/2 price off bonds sale at the moment too.

How are our babies going with day and night sleeping? E had a shocking first couple of nights at home where she would sleep solid during the day and was up every 90mins at night. She's improved a little and is now sleeping 3-4hr chunks at night. When she wakes she is awake for an hour or so which includes nursing one side, nappy change, nursing the other side, burping and cuddling. I'm trying not to cuddle or nurse to sleep in the hopes that she learns to nod off on her own which is what DS2 did very well.

I'm also under the weather with a sore throat and swollen lymph glands in my neck which hurts when I swallow so am on round the clock voltaren and panadeine for the pain. Ive had it about a week now. It's pretty awful ah well. We soldier on!

    Take care mamas!
