Babies Born ~ November 1st -15th 2011 #1

Thanks Nikky, well just had to call and leave a message for my LC, Lilly seems to have forgotten how to suckle again.. she is just back to nibbling and spending forever at my breast instead of drinking. I dont really understand becuase she was actually doing really well the last few days. Every feed she was draining both and doing well.

I'm going to keep trying but I just had to comp her this feed because she was on there for over an hour and wasnt getting enough. I dont know if it is my supply or she is still having trouble attaching and drinking. Going to pump after every feed until I hear from LC tomorrow. I am also now having issues getting any milk out when I pump :wall: Wish me luck guys.

Could be because you're both a bit tense. Does she relax after a bath or shower at all? At least enough to help you relax before a feed to help with let-down? Hopefully the LC will have better advice than I do and things pick up again.

Heheheheh, Nikky I just got the image of you and your little ones tooting your way around the house and had to laugh. And good to hear Miss Z going so well!

I think I may have made a similar mistake last night as Alex wasn't as settled as usual (I won't say unsettled as such, just not his normal cruisy self) and then I just remembered I'd had thai green curry for dinner the night before. Not a hot one, more flavoursome but there was a little tingle there and I haven't had much chilli lately. It's either that, a growth spurt or he's got his days and nights mucked around the wrong way again. He had a big sleep this morning/early afternoon (3.5hrs) then a big feed and is now asleep again. I might wake him at around 5pm in hopes that he'll then sleep tonight rather than be up all night, as much as it goes against everything in me to wake my sleeping baby...

Still here.

Levi has his days and nights back to front. That and the wind we are all tired here. Sounds like some of you are having a rough time hugs xx

Well looks like this feed I figured it out. Looks like my flow is slowing again and I don't know why its decreasing again. I haven't changed anything aside from no pumping after feeds so I'm going to go back to that for now.

Looks like I will have to mix feed full time but at least she is getting some of my milk. She is also going to get the EBM I get from pumping.

Dissapointing but better than nothing I guess. She is way more settled tonight. I guess my supply was dropping the last few days. Can't say I haven't tried, my husband said he wishes he had a mum like me cause I try so hard .. naw. I still feel like I have let her down but at least I can move forwards and stop stressing now.

Awww hun....your husband is spot on. You are an awesome mummy and Lilly is lucky to have you :)

Lolpigs I can relate to feeling disappointed, it's quite heart breaking when the most natural thing is so hard. My husband has said the same type of thing :)

Thanks for the support guys, I really appreciate it. It has been great the last 2 feeds. Pressure is off, Bubs spends time on the boob having special time with me, while Dad gets the formula. Once she has drained that she gets EBM or Formula whatever I have. She is WAY more settled and contented. I have gotten my happy bubba back :) We enjoyed our evening and even 4am feed with her so much she even giggled this morning!

I'm teaching her to mimic me opening my mouth (she already learnt to poke out her tounge from dad so we get that alot not too :lol:) so hopefully that will help her get the most out of the boob.

Do you think it is worthwile sticking with the NAN HA Gold? Seems ok for her so far, just have not much idea when it comes to Formula becuase I expected to be able to BF >.>

This is definatley the right decision for us as disspointing as not making enough milk is. Dan my husband has boggled at just how hard it is. He thought that it would be a little difficult but couldnt believe how much of a struggle it's been. Me either to be honest. I guess when it works its brilliant but when it dosent it is just awful. I am going to the LC again on monday just to work on attachment to make sure I am not doing something wrong that is easily fixed, but they said last time my attachment is good so not sure there.

Off to pump for my little munchkin :)

Lolpigs glad you have worked things out, and your DH is been so supportive.. Without supportive people I think it would be so much harder!

Well yesterday was a little unsettled, but I figured it out.. The little ratbag was well and truely overtired from not having a proper sleep during the day. So DH took her for a drive last night and she crashed :) And she was amazing last night...

Today is our first offical day by ourselves.. Just us two.. So far so good, Ive even managed to put some washing on, and Im just about to head out to get some stuff to make Lactation cookies... Hmm I wonder if they work :think:

Hehe mollie, I'm still here! Busy day yesterday, I went out for the first time without baby and expressed milk for DH to feed her :) it worked well but she keeps being SO hungry and feeds every five minutes if she's awake! I'm not sure why?! I managed to express 60ml yesterday so I think there is enough milk, it's just she wants it all the time!

Mollie, glad your day is going well so far! Yay! As for our MILs, I feel for you having to go spend so long with them!! Uhh!!!! DH still hasn't called his mum yet to actually tell we she can't stay with us - he seems to be putting it off! But yeah how the same to they seem?! SO annoying!!! It annoys me cos my DH gets amazing in laws (my parents are so helpful and yet always wait for us to contact them to come around and see the baby to give us space etc) and yet I get this stupid pushy rude woman who I can't stand! At least we can vent to each other hey!!

I booked a dr appt for tomorrow cos my stitches are still so sore- i reckon they might be infected but I'm kinda terrified of the dr looking at them cos they're so sore and half are up inside where the dr will probably have to poke around to find! So scared.. Wish I could just describe the pain and just get antibiotics without her having to look at them!!

Lolpigs, sounds like definitely the right way to go with the mixed feeding, and you still get the bonding time plus she gets the goodness of some BM, so sounds like definitely a good choice :) I think it's SO cute she has learnt to poke out her tongue!! Hhehehe! Clever!!!

CK, I hope Alex got his day and night figured out again so you got some sleep last night?

Awwwwww poor Danni... I can imagine how upsetting it'd be for you hun.. But the fact you care so much just shows what an amazing mum you must be :) *hugs*

:hug: Hoping you're feeling better soon Danni - I know it's hard but Amanda is right, you're a fantastic mum.

Being home on your own does get easier, it helps to organise catch ups with any friends/family who also aren't at work etc - every couple of days or so. We try to have at least one outing every second day, whether that's the shops, coffee with a friend etc. Something to look forward to but not always rushing around going places if that makes sense.

We just got home from a big shopping trip, so much easier in the ergo than it used to be with DD and trying to get a trolley with a baby carrier and hope that it's in ok condition etc. Seems to have sorted himself back out again as he only woke twice last night each about 3hrs or so apart. It does look like he's going to be a spewer like his sister was though - just got me a good one all over himself and me. Not really what I'd call power chucking or anything though, just little bits here and there after a feed, so the flannel flat nappies that SIL gave us are getting a good work out as spew rags.

Amanda and CK you made me cry. I know i'm a good mum it's still quite fresh atm i think plus to chuck in the crazy post baby hormones.

Amanda - I hope your DH rings his mother before they turn up! And think that they can stay with you.. You definitely need your space with a new baby so that you can learn everything. Thank god Aubree and I have the breast feeding established, otherwise Im sure my MIL would be all up in my grill trying to 'help' lol...

I'm still feeding. Painful on the left side but managing it.

Levi has had a terrible few nights, Im going to illiminate dairy and see how he goes as its all eons I believe it's something I'm eating. I'm running on 4 hours sleep, I'm currently laying on the lounge room floor, watching him sleep in the swing. Pity my brain won't switch off so I can sleep too lol.

UGH I'm so mad right now, I stupidly didn't wake violet up for a feed before leaving to go to the doctor for getting my stitches checked for infection (fun) and so she cried the whole way in the car and DH made me feel SO bad for it, saying I clearly didn't have her best interest at heart - I'm still learning all this stuff and SO didn't need that kind of nasty lecture from him making me feel more terrible than I already do... So I BFd for 5 mins in the car and hope that holds her off till I get back... I feel awful.
