Your DH needs a boot to the head and to be told to button it. Be kind/supportive or keep his trap shut! Sometimes stuff happens, sometimes she's going to decide she's hungry at inconvenient times and will have to wait. And yes, she'll cry. It's not going to hurt her long-term, and definitely does NOT mean you don't care, or don't have her best interests at heart! You are doing a great job hun, be gentle with yourself.

Most doctors couldn't care less if you BF in the waiting room, or even while talking to them before the examination if you need to. Heck, most just gave us an indulgent smile and a few words of encouragement while I fed Alex in the corridor after our consultation before driving home.

Oh and Mollie, I know hey, I bet you he will keep putting off telling her till she rocks up on our doorstep! Yay for your mummy daughter day! How cute!

Wig BFding, my dr said don't feed till you e left like 3 or 4 hrs in between feeds, yet I've just been feeding when she's hungry which is ALOT! Anyone have any views on this?

Oh and stitches aren't infected , just lots of stitches and yeah normal to still be so sore apparently!

I feed Alex on demand, some days he's hungry a lot and wants to feed frequently, other days he'll feed less often but for longer periods. So long as the output is good just go with what she wants I think. Particularly in hot weather BF babies will have shorter but more frequent feeds as this keeps them well-hydrated as well as provides nutrition. Most doctors and child health nurses recommend demand feeding with exclusively BF babies I thought? I know mine certainly do...

Awwww thanks CK I needed to hear that :) yeah he was sooo rude and I'm clearly doing the best I can! And it was a 15 min appt and now I'm feeding her again so she didn't have to wait long! He was just being a jerk! I got back in the car and told him I ready felt bad as it was so he didn't need to try make me feel worse - and I burst into tears as soon asi walked into the drs office too and I told her what happened and she said men don't get it haha! Thanks hun :) I appreciate your nice words! :)

As for feeding, good to know you demand feed too- I can't stand the thought of her hungry and not feeding her! And good advice, next time ill just BFd in the drs! Good advice!!

UGH I'm so mad right now, I stupidly didn't wake violet up for a feed before leaving to go to the doctor for getting my stitches checked for infection (fun) and so she cried the whole way in the car and DH made me feel SO bad for it, saying I clearly didn't have her best interest at heart - I'm still learning all this stuff and SO didn't need that kind of nasty lecture from him making me feel more terrible than I already do... So I BFd for 5 mins in the car and hope that holds her off till I get back... I feel awful.

:hug: that was a bit insensitive of him :/ I'm sure you doing everything you can and are the best mumma. Men can be silly sometimes they struggle to cope too and lash out instead of talking about things. My husband does this too. Its irritating. Tell him if he can't be supportive zip it, becuase you don't need to hear that. I would have made him awit till I BF her completely in the car if it was me. I did it the other day with my husband. :lol: Glad to hear your stitches are all clear, a sick mumma isn't good either!

I demand feed as well, even with comping I still dont let her sleep more than 3 hours in between feeds during the day. She normally wakes well before that anyway LOL because I want to make sure she is eating well, but I don't not feed her if she is hungry. I use a formula for comps that has no Casein protien in it so its easily digested like my milk so she keeps to a regular waking pattern during the day.

I thought the waiting to feed rule was old school thinking anyway? Even FF babies they suggest demand feeding nowadays too.

Making a baby wait to feed is really old school and not recommended anymore anyway. I feed Abby anywhere from 2-3.5 hourly normally it's pretty much 3 hourly though day and night. I'm finding she is having 8 bottles a day ATM which is a couple over what she really needs but she is waking 3 hourly overnight again. DH gave her the 1am feed this morning, I was so happy to get a couple extra hours till she woke at 3am for a feed.

Amanda thanks for asking how I'm going :). I'm ok still feeling like I could have done more with the breastfeeding but on the other to know how much pain I was experiencing every feed and it was getting to the point I was dreading each feed.

Glad to hear your going ok Dan, I was wondering how things were getting on. I was like that in hospital Dan, in so much pain that I was dreading attaching her, becuase I didn't get much help until day 3 getting her attached properly when her weight started to suffer becuase my milk was not coming in. I had blisters all over my nipples from her working them so hard.

My introduction to breastfeeding was an old midwife shoving her on my boob after returning to my room still out of it on medication from the operation. I really wanted to BF in recovery but was so exhausted I could only stare at her, and she slept on me heh.
I am still going, Managed to get 120mls over the course of today pumping. I save it up and use it for her night comps when she seems to want more. Bubs still isn't that great at sucking however, so I think that might also be causing an issue. I find however our 4am feed I seem to have more milk? Is that my imagination?

My Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle tablets arrived today so I started taking those along with the Motilium. Worth a try at least. Was so cross, called to speak with my LC and got the other LC in their office who I haven't delt with. She tried to tell me the reason I have no milk is becuase of attachment, and when I told her my LC told me my attachment was fine all I got was "oh, well do you want to come in an see her again then to check" err not really she has already seen me once and checked it, I also was told that if I dont get my supply fixed then DD won't accept my boob soon becuase we are comping.. er what? DD is not making indication she is refusing the breast unless there is no milk. I was not impressed and promptly cancelled my visit I was going to go in. I dont need to be made to feel inadequate again when I'm just starting to feel better, No thanks. Obviously they don't know why my milk isn't increasing properly, however I suspect its because DD wants a fast flow and mine is slow and so she dosen't suck properly etc.

I spoke with my mother yesturday and she checked how I was feeding bubs, and told me that she had the same problem when I was born. She had some milk but not enough and had to comp feed for 6months. She also said I never had an issue with going between bottle and boob and her milk didn't stop either just because she was comping. She said that my flow problems sound the same as hers, but at least Lilly got colostrum becuase her milk took 10 days to come in and she had no colostrum. So looks like there might be a hereditary issue at play here, not just "put her on the boob more" which seems to be the only response I get now :|

I'm demand feeding about every 2.5-3 hours. At night I get 3.5 to 4 (if he sleeps).

Day 1 with no dairy or Gripe Water. Shall shee what his night is like.

Had him out from 10:30 till 2:30 today. Did my first public feed (actually 2), in the parents room in the mall and then down the beach cafe (covered with wrap). Also has baby photos taken of him. can't wait to see how they turn out.

Amanda I hope your DH apologized for his comment!! A good slap up side the head or maybe suggesting that he try breast feeding :) Maybe you should just say to your MIL that although you are very excited for them to met YOUR daughter, you are still learning and would prefer it if they didnt stay with you...

Lolpigs I got the same kind of introduction to breastfeeding, the midwife looking after me was like "Ok this is what you do" then grabbed my boob, and Aubree's head and put them together.. I was in shock lol good thing I had a better midwife over night, and she helped me with attachment and all that jazz. Listen to your instincts, you are doing great, and if Lilly is happy with boob and bottle I wouldnt worry about what the LC says.. Plus your mum sounds like she is pretty helpful :)

Well Im glad its the weekend :) Looking forward to having hubby home for a couple of days.. Its gets a bit lonely when you only have a little person who cant talk back to you... and he will get to spend some quality time with Aubree

Tee hee hee...it's sticky and hot and yuck today. Feeding Alex is kinda like cuddling a hot water bottle in a sauna. So right now he's in the coolest spot in the house - playing on his mat on the lounge-room floor in a singlet and a nappy with the a/con on :D

Whet age does everyone start belly time? Levi had reasonable head strength and is very nosey and wants to look at everything. He will be 3 weeks on Wednesday.

Had some photos taken of him today. Can't wait to see them printed.

I already do tummy time every wake session even if it is only for a few mins. The head of midwife in the nursery in our hospital recommended it, as it is good to clear wind, and build up the strength in their neck so they can learn to roll and sit up quicker. It is my trick to wake sleepy head up hehe :)

We have started tummy time already.. It helps bring up wind, and Aubree is pretty strong and can sort of lift her head.. We do it for about 5 mins every day..

I've pretty well been giving Alex a few mins at a time on his tummy since we got home - he's really strong and can lift his head for a few seconds already, enough to turn from one side to the other then back down. Plus we also do a bit with him lying on my chest being propped up a bit by my boobs, which he seems to quite enjoy as he can raise his head higher and see everything :)

I've been doing a lot of belly time on my chest but haven't put him on the floor yet. I'll give it a go tomorrow :)

Lolpigs I was just reading some info on a website.. Do you think it could be possible that Lilly might be having a growth spurt????

I think Aubree might be having a growth spurt.. Since 1pm Aubree has been feeding every 2 hours... hmmmm :/ I dont know if I have enough milk for her...

Possibly Mollie, but I haven't had enough milk from the time she was born, rather than just suddenly not having enough milk now. Oh if you had enough milk for her up until now I think you would be fine. Even with comping Lilly has days (like today) where she feeds every 2 hours :lol: she is such a little piggie. Wore myself out pumping today for her. Just about to do my last pump for today as I don't pump overnight becuase I still need to rest after the C/S.

Hubby was up most of the night with Levi, which meant I got a fair bit of sleep. Pitty it doesnt feel like it :(
