Lolpigs I bought that swing because I heard the same thing but so far it has been a waste of money. It isn't upright enough and she refluxes in it. Ive had better luck with a cheap bright stars bouncer. Maybe you will have better luck with it.
The bath used to trigger an episode for Jess. We now use an upright bath aid and it helps. There is apparently a way to BF with bubs sitting upright. Not sure how. I have to feed Jess like she is almost in a sitting position, that is why she wouldn't BF not that I knew the reason at the time. You would think these blinking nurses would pick up something! Acid in their tummies build up and that's why you can get episodes at a certain time of day.
AM Jess has trouble with poos sometimes too. I think they are still so little. Our ped says it takes 3 months for them to sort their bodies out.
AM Alex has the same thing - he grunts, grizzles and turns red, sometimes he'll cry etc before he poos. Still just a normal bf poo though. Nothing really to worry about.
Sorry to hear you're still having trouble Lolpigs, hopefully your Dr can offer some suggestions to help with the colic.
Amanda, I wouldn't worry too much if Violet's not showing signs of illness - but just let him know next time it's probably better to rinse it off under hot water rather than suck it - the human mouth is an icky place. Or you can squirt some breast milk on it as well.
Lolpigs i got one of those lil lamb swings for Abby - best investment money spent so far Abby quite often sleeps in her's during the day and we quite often will put her in it around dinner time for us as she's tired and grumpy and it's sure to put her to sleep.
AM Aubree does the same thing... Its like she is trying to push out this massive poo. She grunts and carries on and its always the morning one that she does it...
CK & Lolpigs how did your 6 week appt go?
Jan glad to hear you will be going home Christmas Eve!
everyone else....
So today DH and I took Aubree to see the clinic nurses, because Aubree is 6 weeks on Christmas eve we cant get in for out 6 week appt til the 6th of Jan. DH and I had a bet. He though Aubree would weigh in at 4.20kg and I thought she would be 3.99kg. Well the lovely little thing weighed in at 4kg. (So in your face MIL) Aubree has gained 455g in 2 weeks and has gone up a whole percentile So I am pretty pleased with myself. I spoke to MIL this afternoon for the first time since Aubree was born... She asked me about Aubree's weight today and then she told me that when DH told her about the last weight gain she was worried because it wasnt enough weight.. My reply was "Well the nurses were pleased with her weight last time and they are pleased with her this time, so there doesnt seem to be an issue" Even more proud of myself for standing up to the silly cow!
It went well Mollie. Lilly is now 4.5kg, so she is a whole kilo heavier than her birth weight, and is 56.5cm long.. gaining a cm a week atm! No wonder she feels like such a lump when I pick her up LOL
Had a reasonably ok day today except she has just had another attack I'm really thinking its colic now, becuase it happens after a feed and comes in waves. Like her bowel is cramping like the Dr said. I'm hoping after the next feed I can give her a bath to relax her belly and get her down for a sleep in her bassinette. My back is breaking from carrying her all day.. still waiting for the swing to be delievered
Horrific watching her feed and then pull off and scream becuase shes gotten a belly ache and the colic has started.

Jan, so glad to hear things are a little better, that's great I hope things continue down that path!! Have you tried the brauer colic / reflux natural medicine? I've not tried it but the brand is normally really good and very natural...
CK, thank you she still seems okay so fingers crossed she stays well!! DH went to the dr and it definitely was a virus and not anything he ate so yeah really hoping she stays well!
Mollie, YAY for standing up to MIL- sounds like bubs is putting on weight perfectly!!- my MIL just tried calling AGAIN which is somewhat DHs fault cos he keeps not returning her calls and so she tries to call me. I know I should be mature and just answer the phone but can't stand to!
Lolpigs- i mentioned above to jan, there is a product by brauer that's for colic relief (natural brand) which might be worth a try? It must be so hard seeing her distressed.. She's a lucky bub having a mum who is so dedicated to helping her.. Hope things get better soon..
Going to my parents for Christmas and they have cats which I'm allergic to- any idea if a cat allergy could show up in a baby so young yet?
Edit-- it's just www(.)brauer(.)com(.)au and you can find the colic relief on there!

: Adding!
Well, 6wk check went well - general chit chat, got any concerns and when was your last pap smear for me before getting a shot of depo for just in case as there's no way on earth I'm going to trust the won't fall pregnant while bf-ing thing then it was on to Alex. Who is growing well, impressed the Dr with how well he can hold his head (and upper body) up, he's a shade over 5.5kg now and a clean bill of health Dr made me laugh when he went to check Alex's testicles with a comment of "well I don't need to go feeling around for those to make sure they've come down, he's pretty well endowed"
Also discovered Alex has a talent for timing his poosplosions for when I have appointments. Had one on the way to the Dr today, got there and poo was all down his legs when I got him out of the seat, fortunately only a little actually went in the seat and I could wipe it up easily with a wet wipe..but it was a quick wipe down and change of clothes for the boy before he could go in to see the Dr
I've booked Levi's 6 week appointment. He will be 7 weeks but can't be helped with Drs being closed.
What form of protection are people using? The pill sends me loopy so I'm undecided what to do, we use condoms but they aren't fail proof. I couldn't handle the bar being inserted (more so removed).
I use the Brauer Colic relief, it helps Levi with his wind problem.
AM my DH is in for him snip snip today but the doc said that it's still the next six weeks plus 20 ejaculations I think from memory, then they get tested to make sure there's no live ones in there still. But yeh I'm the same, pill is not any good for me and I've carried and birthed three babies so it was his turn . We'll be using condoms in the mean time, might buy DH some neon ones for Xmas for a bit of a joke LOL.
Think Abby is having a growth spurt she woke at 1am then 4am for feeding when she normally only wakes once overnight, then she wasn't to keen going back to sleep at her 4am feed so it was in bed with me instead as I had to be up at 6am to have DH at the hospital by 7am.
I chose depo as I've been on it before and tolerated it quite well - I don't get any periods while on it and don't have to try to remember to take a pill every day - which is a good thing as I tried that after DD was born and it didn't end well. We're kind of thinking about another baby in about 12-18 months or so, so not long enough to bother with Implanon, otherwise I would've gone down that road. Haven't really thought about what we'll do once we're finished having babies.
My OB gave me the mini pill when I saw him yesturday for my check up. I was concerned about the full pill beucase of its affects to milk supply, sif I need more dramas there!
We are just using condoms as well atm. We are the same CK kinda thinking another baby in 18mths or so, I want Lilly to be at least 2.5 before the next one comes along.
LOL my back seat is filled with kids now and I'm 33 and DH just turned 40. It's a weird feeling knowing that I won't have any more children, I guess moving onto the next stage of my life. I'm happy that we finally got our girl though and it's nice this time around that I don't have any plans on returning to work over the next 2-3 years at least.
Heh, well yes I can understand your reasoning there Danni I think we'll probably only have one more as well - whilst I know I'm not done yet, I don't want lots more. Although knowing my luck, we'll decide 3 is our magic number and wind up with twins next time...
Alex was being super cute this morning - giggling in his sleep
We are both quite certain we don't want anymore kids. Though we aren't ready yet for DH to get the snip. He is 34 and I'm 33. I think when he is 40 we will both agree. Though what to do in meantime? The pill doesn't agree with me plus kills off libido which makes it pointless then! I'm afraid condoms won't work. Both kids were conceived on the first go. With Jess 4 days before ovulation. Any ideas?
LOL Ck that was always in the back of my mind too with twins. My grandmother had stillborn twins and they have never been repeated so far.
Jan dunno maybe you might have to go for something non hormonal like a diaphram possibly!? I know that after DS1 the pill didn't agree with me so i just stayed away from anything hormonal based but we weren't finished having babies and i just winged it but then we had trouble getting pregnant second time around that's why we have a big age gap between 1&2. Then we decided early this year we were happy with the two boys and were about to get DH's vasectomy referral and BAM i found out i was pregnant, funny how you can go for so long TTC then to fall so easily. TBH we need to upgrade our car with three kids, we got an 06 Patrol wagon but with two carseats it doesn't leave alot of room for DS1 and we can't put the rear seats back in cos we got drawers put in the back with all DH's 4WD recovery gear etc.
CK i think 4 kids would do my head in. Abby also was giving me the biggest smiles this morning
I got Abby weighed this morning and she's 4.49kg that's a gain of 1.2kg since birth and her length was 56cm.
New fact learnt today, it takes 10mins for babies to fall into a deep enough sleep to be put down without disturbing them so they drift off to deep sleep. DD no longer takes so long to get to sleep. Waiting FTW
