long time no speak!!! hoe are you all? and how are your babies?? I miss out on so much not having a FB dont i!!
Just a bit of an update from me - Violet is doing really well! She started walking at 14 months (took her time, she liked to shuffle along on her knees instead!) and can say about 20 words already! shes sleeping through he night most nights, or just waking once which is nice! she doesnt self settle anymore now, darn! since she learnt to stand up, she just gets up and stands in her cot crying.. and seeing as i cant contemplate any form of CIO i just have her go to sleep on my lap nowadays.. and then put her into bed.. lol, any suggetions as to how to get a toddler to self settle without them standing up and crying!?!? Shes in size 2's, about 82 cm tall and still has very short blonde hair :P shes completely gorgeous and sooo cheeky!!
So hows everyone else's little ones? Jan, hows Jess been with her reflux issues?
Hope everyone is well!!
Does anyone's little ones have any favourite toys at the moment? im sorting out some old toys and then going toy shopping again this week :P
Hi Amanda! Glad to hear Violet's doing so well I can't help much with the getting them to settle and go to sleep in the cot by themselves, Alex is still cuddled to sleep on my lap in the chair in his room every time. He's also just weaned
Alex has been walking since 10.5 months, is almost running these days which certainly keeps me on my toes, plus he's going to be a big brother come September. His favourite toys at the moment are his trucks (so cute, he pushes them around going brrrrrrrmmmmm!) his wheelybug and his box-cubby (huge box I cut a door and a window into). Oh and anything he can swipe out of my baking cupboard. I need a new rolling pin, he's snaffled mine.
Oh yeah, thats good to know im not the only one with the getting to sleep thing! We were doing great till Violet learnt to stand up haha. I drove myself a bit crazy worrying after reading books about it etc and ended up just having to stop reading books - i reckon theres too much pressure placed on strict ways to do things and ive just decided to go with the flow for now, and not really worry about it, i figure soon enough she will be old enough that i can explain bedtime to her and go from there..
Violet is still breastfed actually, she reeeeeeeally doesnt like cows milk! ha! so, ive left it for a bit and will start trying again in a few weeks once shes forgotten about the cows milk.. hhehe. How did alex go with weaning? At the moment i just feed her morning and night, and she has water the rest of the day!
Wow 10.5 months! that wouldve been full on! OH funny, Violet's favourite toys are cars etc too! her favourite thing to say is "car" and she points out cars everywhere. even just says "car" when she hears one drive past the house! I might have to get her a truck hehehe so cute @ him going brrrrrrrm! ehhehe. OH totally making a box cubby! awesome idea!!!!!! LOL @ the swiping. its hilarious watching the self satisfaction on their faces after theyve swiped something!
CONGRATULATIONS on second baby!!!!!!! thats wonderful!!! you must be super excited!!! alex will love having a little sibling i bet!
He was pretty easy to wean really, pregnancy made my supply drop off quite quickly so he wasn't really getting a lot. He still asks occasionally, but is easily distractable and he'll have a cup of cows milk at bedtime and water the rest of the time. We dropped down to 3 a day, then just morning and night and then just night time before finally nothing at all. I'd really just take it easy and go with the flow.
Lots of fun and games having him walking that early, he's into everything all the time and we really had to make sure anything we didn't want him getting a hold of was put away.
I'm so glad Violet is going so well. She sounds very clever !
Thanks for asking about Jessica I'm very relieved to report that she is fine now, on cows milk etc and hopefully it stays this way. There was a time when it was a terrible nightmare and I'm so glad to be out of that phase.
Jessica still calls Pat, Julian and I 'dadda'. She says funny words like wow and cool and oh-oh. Though a lot of it is babble!
Sleep wise when she wakes at night i sit with her resting into my shoulder until she is drowsy. Then we put her in the cot and hope for the best. Sometimes she will go to sleep, other times she will stand up and cry. Then I go back in and pick her up and put her in the cot lying down. I pat her in the cot until she is asleep then I leave. If she gets really upset I go back to the chair then do it again. She is funny she won't sleep in our bed, just hits us etc so I have no choice than to resettle her in the cot. Hope that helps!
Jessica was so constipated this morning, never happened before. I felt terrible, not sure what is causing that I'm also looking into daycare etc and it is very daunting! Not sure what to go for.
Keep in touch on here if you can, it's great to keep in touch!
Levi is a charmer, talks your ear off and his favorite words are Peeez and Car, with Tactar coming in a close third (tractor). He can identify a few different sounds and knows animals by name and noise. He says so many words, makes it so easy to know what he wants. Levi walked at 10.5 months too
We stopped breastfeeding 3 weeks ago, he self weaned, Id still be feeding if it was my choice lol.
We do settling in the cot and use a dummy, probably not much help here sorry.
So glad all the bubs are doing well, cant believe we have a second round happening now lol
Alex's new favourite word is "Yuck!" - loudly exclaimed with lots of giggles whenever he or anybody else farts. He also says Uh oh, bath, bye bye, ni-ni, mum, dad and we're starting to get something that sounds like Up, which is accompanied by hands in the air asking to be picked up.
Usually if you ask him if he needs his bottom changed he'll run off to his bedroom and stand beside his change table with his hands up if he does. Not so much if he's distracted though.
The only odd thing is that he's not big on being read to. Likes flipping through books occasionally, but is usually too busy to sit for a story. Hoping this changes, I like story time!
Jan, im sooo glad to hear Jess is okay now! That must be wonderful! Give yourself a massive pat on the back for getting through such a tough time, your a wonderful mummy sounds adorable @ jess saying ""dadda" to you all hehehe. thats super cute! LOL @ "wow" and "cool"! hehe!!! she sounds so sweet! Violet calls Josh "daddooo".. hehe. Oh and yeah we have "uh oh" too, when she drops something, when something is out of her reach etc. i love it :P Jan, did Jess like cows milk at first? Good advice about how you settle Jess too.. im going to start doing the same, trying to settle more in the cot, ill do it gradually i think and just take it easy.. its hard, she gets so annoyed at having to go to sleep!
Thnaks for the info on weaning CK - did he mind the taste of cows milk at first? So good that ou got him weaned without too much trouble.. I looove how he goes to the change table to get changed!!! thats so cute and clever! violet tries to run away when i tell her ive got to change her.. hahaha.
AM, good to hear Levi is doing well! SUper cute that he says "tactar" eeeehehe! so cute!!! adorable
ANd yeah totally amazing @ the second round starting - i agree! anyone else thinking of second babies yet? we will probably start trying for baby number two around Violet's second birthday..
Hows everyone going with teething? Violet has all 4 molars now.. i find it really hard to clean her teeth though cos she keeps biting the toothbrush!
If we have another it will be when Levi is 3, I want a bigger gap so I can enjoy some time with a new baby on its own (while Levi is in kindy/pre school) but neither Hubby or I are fussed if we dont either.
Levi has all his teeth and decided to start on his 2 year old molars last month. He has 1 close and the other 3 regularly give him trouble so they must move around a bit. Mum cleans his teeth the 3 mornings she has him and I offer a tooth brush pretty much every night (unless his just about sleep eating tea). I dont have any success actually getting in and cleaning molars but I let him suck it and we are teaching him to wiggle the tooth brush. We also let him chew on a face washing in the bath so that helps do some cleaning.
Ive given up counting how many words Levi can say, last count was 20 words and knew another 10 for instructions. Now he can say most things, its just fill in words (and, is, was etc) that he doesnt have. Ive been teaching him Daddy Bath Please (thats their special time) and mum taught him Mummy Pretty last week.....my favorite lol.
He was a bit sceptical at first of the taste, but soon got used to it. He takes it straight from a sippy cup, we didn't do bottles at all. Teething has been pretty rough, he's just got his first couple of molars come through, they've taken 2 months and included a week and a half of screaming himself hoarse most nights. Hope the next ones aren't as bad.
Ultrasound on Sunday to get a look at this new little Speck - will be 13 weeks
Lilly is just about talking and walking now. She talks to us in babble sentances so won't be long before they are actually words lol. Daddoo is one she says too and Dador lol
Emily is settling in well. BF going ok. Emily seems to know what she is doing
Haha we didn't expect to have the 2nd one so soon, just lucky and extra fertile I guess Emily is very different to Lilly who was just about born a toddler already, Emily is very much a newborn, everything is scary and she even gets upset and cries when I change her nappy LOL
Lilly loves her little sister and pats and kisses her. Also throws toys at her to "share' LOL
Lilly is also teething, she has 4 teeth but the rest just seem to keep coming up causing grief and then going away again. Wish they would just cut already!
