Welcome K & G!! I can sympathise with the night wakings. I've got a reflux bub and I'm a very tired mummy after 4.5 months of it. Recently I heard that it took a year for someones baby to outgrow it. Yikes.

Amanda your night sounds like mine have been. Except last night we had one waking but she was up from 4pm to 10pm.

CK We also got a new high chair. The one I had for DS looked so manky I couldn't use it! The paed said to continue with solids but with vegetables. He said it would work in the end but had to persevere. Going to start pumpkin and see how that goes.

Immunisation today. Hope all goes well. She has only been taking 100-120 mls per feed. She's having 6 feeds per 24 hours. Doesn't seem enough to me. Will ask the doc about it.

thanks Danni thats reassuring that things hopefully settle at around 6 months! Fingers crossed!!!! And the idea of setting up a play pen when shes a bit older and reading uni stuff sounds like an awesome idea! Cos yeah they just like the snd of your voice, not the words themselves at that age! So going to try that! The way i intend to tackle uni this semester is to unenroll from the second subject and just focus on the one... it sucks though, the subject im staying enrolled in is full of algebra equations - i am so bad at maths its quite rediculous, and trying to get DH to explain it is reaaally annoying cos i just get frustrated and he cant understand why i find it so confusing!

K&G - SAME! Violet is breastfed as well, and she goes normally about 2.5 hours - i try to stretch it longer but yeah, it doesnt always work! I defintely dont like the idea of stretching their awake time either, cos then they just get overtired and have a huge tantrum and are super hard to settle!! Also i know what you mean with overthinking playtimes etc, ive been asking ismilar questions, wanting to check if im giving Violet enough stimulation etc (she seems a bit behind in some things, doesnt reach to grab stuff, hasnt found her feet to grab yet either) and i worry im not doing enough with her during the day! We sing songs to her, play with toys (not that she does much actual playing with them, she more just watches and grabs them if i kinda put them in her hands, haha), read books, do tummy time, some nappy free time when its warm weather and little walks around the house / garden etc.. we probably go out shopping three or four times a week too, which i think is a fair bit of stimulation in itself! But yes, i know the feeling of overthinking everything! Violet sleeps in the same swaddle that you have for Gus with the arms up - i still put her in that cos she wakes herself up otherwise.. We also have the sameproblem with waking in the middle of the night more than is needed just for feeds.. routinely its 5 or 6 wakes each night, and she wants to get up for the day around 5.30 / 6.00! i bought one of those dummy rabbits too,the brand Bunnies By The Bay thats sold at Myer is where i found mine but as she doesnt understand grabbing stuff yet i cant use it just yet.. I guess its just a temporary thing hopefully, the extra wakes! Till theyre old enough to self settle... hopefully! ive definitely heard the solids can help the sleep - my hairdresser had the same problem and it was instantly fixed when she put her baby on solids.. but it doesnt always work! i intended to start violet on solids at 4 months but dont think shes quite ready - i do still intend to start them sooner rather than later though.

Jan - yeah the waking at night is soo tiresome hey.. It wouldnt be so bad if they did more than just tiny cat naps during the day so we could catch up on sleep!! You must be exhausted... good luck with trying the vegetables! did the pead say which to try specifically or just any?

AM yay @ levi'liking farax! are you going by a certain weaning guide? i ordered annabel karmels weaning guide- hope its okay!

CK good luck with the vacs today!!! uhh theyre so yuck huh...

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww i was feeding Violet just now and sneezed- she looked up at me all shocked and started crying! i felt terrible!!!!!!!!

Levi scares when I sneeze but laughs at hubby....odd.

I'm not weaning, he gets all his normal feeds. Just a taste of food at the moment, he tasted apples today. Wasnt so sure on that.

Try mixing some thickener in Jan see if that helps her. All of Lillys Farex and vege purees has to have thickener in it.

Damn Mollie, can you send him over here? I go out and DH uses the time to catch up on some TV watching

Little Boy is asleep, he cried real tears and all after his needles but soon settled with a nice feed. Was laughing and being cute while we were visiting a friend and her brand new baby girl I didn't have cuddles this time though due to Alex having had the rotavirus vaccine, but next time I will! I can't believe how big he is now, my friend's baby is bigger than he was born, but he's HUGE compared to her now...

    Hi all

Most of you seem to be having a rough time sleeping, feel for you cos I know sleep deprivation is shocking, luckily I got a relaxed little munchkin this time round. Although she has her times and had a hissy fit last week and chucked a wobbly.

I'm thinking about enrolling in uni to start in July - if I'm accepted of course.

Abby is 4 months tomorrow - can't believe how time has flown by

Amanda I have that Annabel kermel's book and it's great, it goes through so many recipe ideas.

GRRRRRRR DH!! When handed your recently vaccinated son who has just thrown up in his bed and asked to change him while I change his bed, please do not take this as time to turn every single light possible on and then talk to him/play with him while getting him changed when you KNOW I normally keep things as dark and quiet as possible at night!

Result, I am now sitting up with a wide awake boy who thinks it's playtime at 1.30am!! Next time DH gets to change the bed and I'll change the boy. Gah!

GRR CK. What a nub LOL tell him next time if he does that he can sit up with Alex ;D

I bought Annabel Karmels 100 Baby Purees and I'm going to get the book you have Dannim. The Purees book is great.

I just bought the Avent Steamer/Blender on recommendation of a friend. I dont own a blender so figured I would get something that wouldnt burn the food if I got distracted LOL I got it on special for $180 from www dot okme dot com dot au. Hope it arrives soon!

AM hah I am ignorant- so "weaning" isn't just introducing foods? Does it mean actually stopping breastfeeding? I didn't realize that, haha. I thought it just meant adding solids to the breastfeeding haha!! Yeah I won't actually be removing breasfeeding till violet is 1 I think..

Danni oh yay I'm glad that book is good! I mainly wanted it cos it's meant to have info in the latest allergy advice, plus which time of the day etc to add solids etc, cos I'd have no idea otherwise!

Mollie.. Wow, your DH needs to give my DH a few lessons! Haha.

CK ohhhhh good one DH- way to wake Alex up and think its ready for playtime! Id have been supermad. I've had a few situations with my DH where I know violet is due for a sleep, tell him she's tired etc, then he takes her and starts playing- and then she grizzles cos she's overtired and I can hear him asking her, what's the matter? I'm like ummm she's tired!

Anytime of day is good Amanda, providing it isnt just before she is due for a feed or she might not want the feed, or will feed less which is not what you want.

Normally you would only introduce one new thing every 3-4 days to allow time to see if there is a reaction. Generally you would start in the morning to make sure no reaction. No weaning isnt stopping her milk. Your bub needs milk as main diet till one years old. Just remember food is fun until their 1 Really at the moment all your doing is giving them little tastes of things anyway. Lilly generally only takes a spoon or so and thats it. Least this is what I did Far as I know there is no right time to add solids during the day.

Only really no nos I know of are Honey, and Nuts before 12months. Not sure if there are others? Obviously as Jan has said before no citrus/acid for reflux bubs.

    HTH

Hehe my DH is really good with getting Lilly to settle. He knows when she is tired and dosent play with her.

Ok ladies... I am a little worried (because I am a worrier... I am actually really worried) Aubree has only gained 200g in a fortnight, and usually its double that! So when does there weight gain start to slow down, and does this mean that I will have to introduce solids sooner then I would like too....

    HELP?!?!?

Yea, weaning is removing boob, I'm just adding food.

Levi gets boob at 8 or 8:30am then breakfast at 9 or 9:30am. Boob for the rest of the day, then food at 5 or 5:30pm depending on when I think he might go to bed (I like at least 3hrs before bed time). I have done 5 days between farex and introducing apples (which he doesn't like so I'll try pear next). On day 3 I introduced farex at dinner too.

I know eggs, nuts and strawberries can be high allergy foods.

Is she eating well, and got good output? If she is I wouldnt worry about it, she might just not have grown that much this fortnight.

So long as she isnt unwell of course, if she is perhaps have her checked out by a Dr?
