schonell - Miss R is coping well with Miss K in the family, although she does get a little shoved to the side at times, which I feel for her but she is a trooper and is a very helpful big sister. She will kiss and cuddle Miss K when upset or chat to her when she is feeding or having a kick/nappy free time on the floor.
So glad to hear your little one is doing so well! I am fairly sure Miss K had a growth spurt last week (week 3) as her weight gain was huge and she had grown in length and head circumference.
Cassius - How are you going with the engorgement? Is it settling down at all? I hope it does soon for you & bubs.
OMG - so many people staying with you - can't they stay elsewhere and just come over for visits? That is madness! Hopefully they can keep your other girls entertained.
Audax - haha re: feisty storm baby! You are amazing tandem feeding! I can't get my head around feeding one, let alone two! (I ff DD #1 so I have no idea what I am doing!)

I feel for you if bubs has reflux - my gf bubs had reflux and was feeding him 2 hrly just to keep him happy. He'd only be happy with boob b/c of the pain he was in :-(
I'd take your midwife up on her offer - see if she can help with other things rather than bubs if bubs is settled enough.
HPL - Your DD sounds so gorgeous - so cute when they are protective of their sibling! Sounds like your little man is doing so well!
AFM - Miss K is doing ok. She is fussing a bit on the breast b/c I am trying to stop using the nipple shields b/c they are a PITA to be honest. If the seal breaks I leak milk everywhere and end up smelling of milk all day (unless I change) and it leaves a nice milk spot/stain on my clothes. I think that is why she is fussing b/c she tended to not have to work as hard with the shields (they tend to 'fill up' so she doesn't have to suck as hard). I am giving it a good go & have the shields on hand JIC. She is a lot more settled today plus it was so damn hot in Melbourne yesterday that I think she was uncomfortable feeding right against me, so I sat right under the aircon & fan and it seemed to help a bit. Trying to get her day & nights sorted but she is still all over the place. She is unsettled nights/early mornings but I am just trying to be consistent with the day and night feeds & hopefully she'll sort herself out. She gets weighed next week & I am hoping for a gain b/c I really have no idea about bf since DD#1 was ff.... I speak to my friends and some have given me some advice but it seems they were flying blind a bit even with subsequent babies.....
Audax: oh crap on the ants! thankfully pests down here in melbourne are pretty minimal...i remember those tiny black bitey ants...little terds
RCC: way to go on the BF i have heard that the nipple shields are awesome and annoying all rolled into one. I am soo not worried about the milk on my top lol...i just seem to have milk all over myself ATM i always forget to put breastpads on and then it is really tragic when we are out and i am feeding from one side and spraying everywhere out through the top on the other hahaha.
i reckon there must be a 3 week growth spurt then! i swear that DD3 has grown ginormous this week and is generally coming out of her total newborn shell ITMS.
thankfully the engorgement is momentarily under control unless we go longer than 2ish hours and then they get sore and need to expressed off. but with this bubs that long between feeds is a rarity haha.
Schonell: YAY for your DD soon she will be out of the 00000 if she is cracking the 3kg mark! my DD3 was only in 00000 for about a week and a bit...(she was 3.1 at birth). now she is fitting perfectly the 0000s...but i reckon 000s are close to getting ready. these babies are growing way too fast...it's like "YAY" and "AWWW not too fast" all at once!
AFM: all good here DD3 even managed to only wake up once overnight . probably just the heat lol. but i rolled with it lol. although i have to sheepishly admit that i jabbed her in the ribs around 5am as i had completely soaked the bed in milk and my right boob was threatening to explode and disown me. thankfully though she didnt really wake and just ate hahaha.
what do you guys do for heat rash? DD3 has a bit from all the sweat and i have been giving her cooler baths but dont have any powders or anything...wondering if i should get some??
Hi everyone I've been so quiet - babymooning and riding the high. The tear is healing perfectly and I don't feel it anymore except some pressure and pulling when I initially sit down, and then again when I first stand up. Milk came in yesterday in hilarious fashion, DD1 climbed into bed for her usual I'm-up-at-the-asscrack-of-dawn cuddle, leaned on my boob and milk gushed through my pyjamas and wet her. She thinks it's hilarious to tell everyone, and announced it to about 10 people when we went to visit our neighbours yesterday.... LOL! Feeding is great, she has latched perfectly since her first feed and my nipples seem to be handling it all well. She's a fairly typical newborn. DD1 has had a few moments but that's nothing unusual PMSL! She's sooooooooooooo tiny though - DD1 was 8lb 6oz and seems so huge now! How can not even 400g and an extra cm in length make such a difference!?!?
Had total visitor overwhelm on Wednesday and many irrational tears and by the third lot of unexpected visitors (who arrived at 5.30pm), I just refused to be social... I stood in the kitchen and did the dishes to avoid them. I just couldnt do it. Feel a bit guilty now though... DP was awesome, she has been totally amazing, I think I've fallen in love with my whole family all over again!
Am writing my birth story... It's kind of epic but should be up tomorrow maybe.
Cassius - lol@ the leakage! I certainly haven't got that problem , only when commencing a feed - the other side leaks and I have a small nipple wet patch :-/
Miss K has has heat rash plus that hormonal rash they get (milk spots I think alot of people call them) and I have done nothing about it. I thought about putting some sorbolene cream where it is a bit dry but don't want to muck around and make it worse, so I haven't done anything. Maybe a squirt of breastmilk might help??
Indad - Welcome! So glad you are enjoying your babymoon. lol@ DD#1, too cute! Don't feel guilty about needing a break from visitors. It's lovely that people want to visit but truly after labour and getting used to having a newbie again they really should think twice about bombarding you. So glad you are getting tons of support from your DP too - makes a huge difference hey?!
I think I am in for a tough night. Miss K has been snack feeding every couple of hours and is really fussing at the breast, particularly the left so not sure what is going on but hoping it will settle down as we have a wedding tommorow.
we are also in the land of upset baby she has been sooo awesome and happy and sleeping beautifully...and then last night just hasnt been able to poo and is really upset about it. I really feel for her and have been giving her a nice bath each day (so yesterday and today...normally only go once a week with the newbies) just to try to relax her body and kick her poo out hahaha. ah well, 4 weeks of awesome, one night of crap. i like those odds.
RCC: this is my thinking too. she has the hormonal rash as well and i am reluctant to put anything on it. maybe the breastmilk is a good idea
We have hideous heat rash here. I haven't put anything on it, except in her nappy area, where it was really bad, I put some MooGoo there.
Cassius- we just went a week without poo! DD1 was the same, worse actually. Nothing worked for getting the poo moving, we just mark poo days on the calendar, and start wearing rubber suits at about day 10. We're not bathing much here. She loves it but gets so worked up afterwards that its not worth it.

We had a slightly more normal time of it last night. She woke heaps but at least wasnt screaming the whole time ITMS. still needs to do a real poo lol.
Indad: had to laugh at the milk spray action! my DD2 was so keen to get on the boob when she saw the milk exploding everywhere. I hear you on the visitors. i love them but also wish that they would spread themselves out a bit and not stay long! I get so tired so easily and just want to be able to either cry on the couch on my own lol, or have a lie down when i need or just read a book and BF DD3 and not be sociable. especially guests that arrive around 5pm. DUDE. they are not going to get much from me at that time of day lol.
Good morning all, little miss is officially one week old. I am so in love, she is such a good baby, I've had to wake her for feeds!! And when she does wake up herself she just makes little cite noises. Hates having poo in her nappy & loves her bath. My other girls are do good with her & haven't been too smothering!! Although I was in the laundry yesterday & DD1 says "mummy come here", I walked in to the lounge to see her holding the new baby.!! She had taken her out of the rocker by herself!! Instead of freaking out I explained she can only hold the baby when mummy is with her!!
hahaha Nel, i would of freaked lol. but yeah, we also have had to do some basic reminders about how to play with their little sister hehehe.
it's great to hear that your new baby is giving you a gentle transition! my little one was very similar; whereas DD2 was always awake from day 3 and never slept hahaha. so relieved that i have a relatively chilled kid this time
AFM: entering day 3 of no poo. she is not liking it!
Here in melbourne it is FREEZING...had to bring out some of the wintery baby clothes that my two bigger girls wore. far out brussel sprout. apparently there is even snow falling in the mountains
We finally have poo lol! we went to visit another BB lady to hand over our birth pool and have a catch up and play etc and DD3 chose that moment to evacuate her bowels of course it went EVERYWHERE and we had no spare change of clothes ahhh so organised when i go out bahahahaha!
we then had a MACH nurse appt for the 4 week weigh etc and she has stacked on in the last two weeks 740gms! wahoo! and that was post-poo hahahaha. she she is now sitting at 4.440kgs. wahoo. little porkchop.
not much else to report really. have the house back to just us (mum left yesterday) and it does feel nice. although the vacuuming needs doing and the fridge needs restocking but seriously with 100km hour gusts of winds i am happy to just stay home for today.
Do. Not. Talk. Winter. 39 here, hottest day I've ever had in Brisbane and it s u c k s. our spare change of clothes is a Singlet thrown in the nappy bag! We are just soaked in sweat, poor bubba just wants to feed feed feed, but she keeps sliding off the boob!
Dying in Brisbane... was 43 when I picked DD1 up from daycare at 4.30pm. DD2 has it right, all she's doing it feeding and sleeping.
It's so hot I made myself a Spider and the ice cream had melted in my glass before I had a chance to add the soft drink! Not even kidding. It was only a matter of minutes!
OMG! we NEED to swap places hahahaha! i have the HEATING on. i kid you not! BAH! i HATE the cold!

I feel for all you ladies and bubbas in the heat.... We had a very hot day last week and I can't stand it when it is over 30 degrees! Yep, cold here today in Melbourne. I have jeans, a long sleeve top and had a cardigan on earlier. I have my slippers on too! It is going to be 37 on Saturday, so I won't be venturing anywhere, well maybe to my mums who has refrigerated cooling (we have evaporative which is useless when the weather is too hot or humid)
Nel - Glad to hear you and bubs are well... Goodness me - your DD1 being a second mummy! They really do like to help, don't they?!

Miss K is doing well - sleeping is getting sorted at night (yay!), although she wakes twice and the second time really knocks me around & it is usually around 4.30/5.30 so I don't really go back to sleep so am a bit buggered! Weight gain is great (was worried with bf) and she weighs a whopping 4.71kg.... Her double chin is soon going to become a triple chin! hahaha
