Happy 3 months to rubes and lil today! Wow how fast has that gone - we are getting some random 7 to 8 hour sleeps and then other nights 4 or 5.
Friday i am going to bali for 4 whole nights feeling a bit anxious but DH is great and I've found a brilliant nanny to do days while he's at work
Many people have criticized me for going on this trip. I understand their logic but for a year everything has been about the babies and I need to recharge. Luckily DH get it - and I am going with my bestow who has no kids and is about to embark on IVF for the first time age 40.
I'm nervous, excited, and sadly will be missing my DS 11 th bday - but my whole family is really supportive and know me well enough to know I need to go. So wish me luck and to all of you besties doing the fabric nappy thing - I'm very proud of you! Two weeks of twin gastro put me off that for ever
We are going good too, finally fitting onto our cloth! Hooray! Tho we are still using sposies part time cos I don't have enough cloth to last between washes. Cattie, not sure about the leakinv, I've only got boys and they wee out the top normally!
Cattie, is the cloth cover helping the leaks at night? That really sucks - nothing worse than changing sheets at 3am or other stupid o'clock time! Like FL says, are you making sure the leg gusset isn't tucked in? DS2 doesn't seem very chucky - my other two were and I lived with a flat nappy on my shoulder.
So my nappy situation - nope, DS1 isn't showing any interest in tt anymore! I thought we were starting but he's not interested. So yep I'm washing a lot of nappies! As for the smaller size, I've probably got umm 18 or 20? Maybe? DS2 seems to go through them quickly!! And 5 covers.
As for washing, my lovely sister washes her nappies with clothes - she throws them in on a rinse on their own then adds the clothes. We don't - my DH is particular about it, he wants them done on their own. Personal preference I guess
And yes my in laws did take the kids a bit last week but they are working this week and some of next week - exam supervision at Uni. The other two kiddies have been ok - good days and bad. DS1 is going through a rou patch - he's really tired all the time but if he has a sleep he just wakes up even grumpier and then won't go to bed til like 10pm Without a sleep he's out like a light by 7pm but is rotten all day. So whingey! And DD is just being a typical 3.5yo - pushing every boundary available. We're a bit at wits end with her. Example - my feeding chair in the baby room is a recliner that rotates, and every time she comes in she pulls on the chair and spins it round. Every single time. No matter how much I say not to do it. Gah!! Frustrating.
Not much else to report. Sleep isn't great... I think I should probably go to bed ad DS2 seems to have gone to sleep... For now!
Just counted nappies as I was putting them away - we have 20 in size 1. And I threw a couple out as the leg elastic had gone so at one stage we had 22.
Oh I didn't know there had been posts, yay! I miss our bb group, even though fb is easier to check...
Thanks fl and op, yes I do make sure the frilly bit is out. Actually it usually leaks from the back so I think it's just too full, dd is quite the little pee-er. We've tried two brands and the same. If she manages to roll slightly to one side, sometimes it does leak from the leg. It hasn't happened since I've put the cloth cover on yay! But it's so bulky, I'm afraid it's uncomfortable for her but she seems to sleep ok. OP - yes once in the middle of the night, I just moved dd over to avoid the wet patch (she's in a cot so plenty of room), and once I woke dh up to help me change all the sheets etc! All the other times it only went through to her clothes/sleeping bag thankfully. Oh also I change her before and after each feed now too which also helps - but seriously I think we're going through maybe 15 nappies a day, is that normal?!
AP - yay for the cloth, I am still yet to make the leap! I think I will do it once she outgrows newborn size disposables. Do you (or OP) use liners? I was going to buy some, but the cheapest I found still worked out to be 8c each, which doesn't really make cloth quite so economical in the end!
OP - wow 20 nappies that's quite a good stash! Do you have that many of each size? If you started off with them all with dd then that's great you got lots of use out of them. And thanks for the info on what your sister does, that's actually a great idea as I was planning to rinse by hand, but hey if the machine can do it for me all the better! Oh no about ds1, if he wakes up grumpier after a nap sounds like it's better just to tough it out until 7pm? And ah cheeky little dd! Sounds like she's at the age where if she thinks she can get away with something, she'll try. I hope you're coping ok, you sound like you're doing great and glad your in-laws help out when they can! As for why you're still up, maybe you need some 'you' time while the kids are all asleep
Hi anyone else reading, how are we all? Our newborns are growing up, dd is one month today!
Well nothing too new happening here, now it's been a month we're going to venture out into the world starting with family dinner tomorrow and church sunday. The main thing I'm stressing about is public breastfeeding, but we'll just need to see how we go. I am tempted to express and feed her that when out. She takes ages to feed and needs frequent breaks for burping/chucking so yeah I really don't know how that's gonna work while we're out and about! Oh mil yesterday commented that we should feed dd some formula too as it will make her less clingy to me... we were like, er ok... Oh yeah we also had mchn appointment today, it went ok (she peed all over the blanket when being weighed sigh) but weight gain not as great as I hoped - 550g in two weeks. Nurse said that was fine though...
Cattie 200g in a week is about "normal" from memory - so 550 in two weeks is great!!
As for DD's wees - I've only ever heard of not enough wee being an issue, not the other way around! Maybe she's just a piddling Pete - that's what my dad used to call my sister. Don't ask what he called me
We probably started with maybe a dozen, and added a few as we realised she needed more. They have held up remarkably well - but the more you have the longer they last, logically, as you don't wash as often. Also - as my kids grow quickly and are kinda large ( ) they actually don't wear them for long!
Actually DS1 was so fast at growing that he was out of the size 1s before DD was finished with the size 2s! So to get around that I bought a handful of OSFA AIOs, which also enabled me to justify to DH why I was buying more fluff
So the size 2s have had more of a beating - they are worn for much longer - 6mths per child vs 18mths or longer!! So DD we had maybe 15 or 18 to start, then added another half dozen or so for DS1, and I've got another three new ones this time round. But again the leg elastic has gone in some of them so we've lost some.
Maybe I don't have a carrier problem but maybe I have a cloth problem!! In my defense a friend of mine owns a cloth nappy business and gives me a staff discount And when she does expos, if I go and help she pays me in nappies!
As for liners - you really don't need them until baby is on solids. Breast milk poos are pretty liquid, as you would have seen by now, so liners don't really work for them! Some brands you can also wash and reuse them, which makes them cheaper.
Is that enough about nappies now??
ETA: the first time we took DD to church - the minister stood up to welcome the newest member of the congregation just as I'd started feeding her! She was ten days old! When I realised where he was going, I was like "ohh no" and quickly pulled her off and covered myself up before everyone looked at me!
You will get there with the Breastfeeding in public. DD will get faster at feeding and the chucking/burping should ease. Should!! Anything could happen
fl - thanks for the encouragement, I think I was just a bit disappointed dd hadn't reached 4kg yet, but she is just under at 3910g. Oh and if you don't mind, could you avoid using real names here? Know it's a bit confusing with this and fb, but feel more comfortable being a bit more anonymous on a public forum
op - lol, yeah I think dd is just a 'piddling pete'! Ooh what was your nickname? Haha I'm curious! Thanks for the nappy info, I think your purchases are justified esp since you are using them exclusively and from birth too, surely you've gotten your moneys worth from all those nappies! What brand are most of your nappies? I read the elastic can be replaced quite easily if that's all that's wrong with them, but I'm sure you've read that too! I can see how nappy buying can become addictive, I would have bought more but dh stopped me as he said I was buying them a year ahead of when we'd use them. Plus mil tried to convince us to just do disposables so that swayed dh too. I could probably buy a few more now though I guess with the bigger age gap between ds1 and ds2, you shouldn't have the same problem this time around? And makes sense about the liners, I thought it might still be easier to turf even though the poos are liquidy but at 8c each, it's definitely not worth it compared to the price of newborn disposables! Lol about your dd being introduced at church! Lucky you were listening! Thanks for the reassurance re breastfeeding, I guess worrying isn't gonna help, I'll just have to go out and see how we go and work things out from there!

Girls are good weighing 3.3 miss rubes and 3.5 miss lil. Still in oooo whichnis good because I'm offended at the amount of clothing I bought!!
Will update properly tomorrow. In other news now that I have been made redundant I mustvstop internet shopping. Just found a desk I love for our new house but 600 bucks from ikea? I don think so.
Yay for finding this thread ttl! Glad your girls are getting to use all the clothes you bought them, must be fun dressing up twins, or you not into the whole matching outfits thing? Pity about the donkey, did you end up doing the one in stroller and one in carrier thing? I think they are coming out with a stokke double, but it's one baby on top of the other which from memory I didn't think you liked...
