hi everyone, just popping in quickly to say hi and hope everyone had a lovely chrissy. DP got me a gorgeous bracelet with the kids names engraved.. so beautiful but the best part was when he said i looked everywhere to find one big enough to get the kids names on one side and enough to get the next bubs name on it too... AAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW!! he earnt big brownie points that day LOL

my internet is playing up so wont do a long post before the internet drops out but been reading everyones on the iphone..

Ha ha Dory I didnt think I would see those words printed here! Hope you feel better really quick.

Chloe still waking 10 pm - 1:30 - 4:30 - 7. I am used to it now. Although last night we put her in her own room in the cot for the first time. She slept from 10:30 until 3:30! And when I went in to see her she was completely on her tummy. Which is probably why she slept well. We have stopped wrapping her as she rolls over all the time. I often find her on her side with a leg hanging out of the cot. She now is sucking on her stuffed dog toy which helps her get to sleep so I am optimistic that nighttime sleeping will improve soon.

Buzzie - WOW! thats awesome of your DH. So thoughtful of him. Mine did well too! I got a sapphire and diamond ring (sapphire for Chloe's birth stone). Completely spoilt!!

Bec - I dont know how you do it. Thats a lot of travel with Isaac - I like your photos on FB! By the way you tagged me in one... must be another Dianne?

Harlow is 12 weeks old today...where has the time gone- how can we stop them growig up so fast!?

Dory- Hope Hannahs cold is going away! Harlows is, she has been cheery the whole time but just coughing and sounding phlegmy (sp?) especially after she has a bottle..so glad its just a little cold & they are in high spirits!

OK, I'm still here and still reading. Have not fallen off the face of the earth as those of you on FB have seen!

Sam is being absolutely adorable. He has been sleeping through (7pm-6am) most nights, however the last 2 have seen him awake at some point and wanting food! I think he is going through a growth spurt and all of the rolling over and pushing himself forward is making him hungry! He is a tummy sleep and sometimes when you put him in his ot and he isn't asleep he will roll onto his back and then complain cause he doesn't like to sleep on his back! This makes it really hard in the baby capsule as he is tired and screaming but won't go to sleep! So no long trips in the car these holidays!

DH is on holidays until Tuesday which is a relief and all of this wet weather has meant we can't send the kids outside. No matter how many times you tell them to stay on the patio, within 5 minutes they are always playing out in the mud and churning up my grass! Then they need a shower etc etc. And to top it off when I was getting petrol yesterday my engine immobiliser decided to not turn off so the car wouldn't start! RACQ and a tow truck later, the mechanic says he can't get to it until late this afternoon, and being a long weekend, no car until next week! We don't all fit in DH's car (a Daewoo Matiz) so we are grounded as a family. DH has taken the older kids to the park to enjoy the sun and I am at home with Sam. Lucky he is cute!

I am going to start him on some solids in the next week. I have started at 4 months with the other kids and they all turned out fine! Connie, how is George going with his solids? I love this age. I just want to hit pause and enjoy it for a couple of months. Knowing this is our last baby makes me want to hold on to the special moments. With DD I couldn't wait for her to do the next thing, but with Sam I can wait!

Anyway, going to take advantage of the sun and hang the sheets on the line! Yay. My dryer has been running just about non stop for 2 weeks! And to those in Melbourne and Adelaide, crank that air conditioner!

Wite - Happy 12 weeks to Harlow... glad to hear she is sounding better. I feel miserable today - achey and very fatigued. Thankfully Hannah has pulled out a big sleep today but sadly I have only managed an hour. What is with that? Last night was a rough night for me, DH kept waking me up with his coughing ( ironically he said he felt well rested this morning), Hannah only woke up twice, but then I couldn't sleep. The only times I wasn't awake to see the hour on the clock was 10pm and 1am.

Kirsten - it is a very fine day is Bris vegas today. Glad DH and the kids are out enjoying it. Don't worry about your grass - it will grow back. Getting muddy is one of the glorious parts of being a kid and the frustrating parts for parents and washing machines. Bummer about your car..... but you'll work out how to cope... a lot of short walks?. Still it will feel like ages...... That is so good about Sam sleeping and rolling. No signs of rolling here. Hannah still does not tolerate much tummy time, but she is getting better at enjoying the snatches of it that she has. She is well and truly a back sleeper. I so know what you mean about not wanting Sam to grow up. I am that way with Hannah. I am just loving the now and don't want it to change ( well I would like to feel better soon... but apart from that). Hope solids go well. Do you use farex then mashes/purees? Not sure what approach we'll use yet.

Fuzzy - Chloe just seems like a wakey baby? That sort of pattern is OK... if she is only up for short periods and you can get back to sleep. Just hope you are getting enough rest to function. Your pressie from DH sounds very nice. Gold star DH.

Buzzie - your bracelet sounds really lovely.... planning another already? My very keen desire to have another straight away has diminished a bit but not too much. I am awaiting the return of AF, but am thinking AF will stay away until about 6 months?

Last night I must have kept Hannah waiting to long for a feed... DH and I went out and when we came home I bathed H. She loves a bath. Then dressed her. All calm. But within about 2 minutes she had completely lost it and was crying so much she was gagging and coughing and every time I tried to feed her she would scream. Luckily I had a comp bottle prepared and when I was able to calm her a smidge I shoved the bottle in her mouth ( all the attempts at the breast were failing miserably). That worked. When the bottle was finished (90mls) the crying started again but she was soothed by the breast and then fed well and then went to sleep really quickly. Lesson learnt.

LOL - I just logged on to face book to check out Connie and Wite, but got distracted, then bored then logged off without checking. PML. Next time.

Happy new year ladies - it's been an absolute pleasure to have shared the experience and birth of our babies with you all.
Your all an amazing support and incredible bunch of strong women.

Here's to another bigger year and another watching our kiddies growing up so fast.

Dory- you poor thing feeling miserable, fingers crossed you start feeling better soon..Harlows cold is ocming & going, one second she is fine-the next she sounds horrible..I have noticed it is straight after a botte that she soudns horrible though,really chesty so i assume it is just fomr milk- she isn't miserable or anything....Did you add me to FB or did you forget!!?

Harlow is rolling- NON STOP! I can't change her Nappy without reaching for a nappy only to find her on her tummy-cheeky girl!

Happy New year to all, Hope yours was more exciting than mine..I was in bed straight after fireworks and even then it was a struggle to stay up for them..I feel like such an old lady by saying that NYE Is just another night for me...Gone are the days of drinking and partying all night...!!

Wite - those days will come back a little when the kid are older... know what you mean about feeling like an old lady... I didn't even make the fireworks! LOL. Feeling better today, thanks for asking! No forgot to do teh FB thing.

Quick from me. DH still has vertigo which is a total PITA for everyone. I'm going to Tassie with the kids tomorrow (just booked today) staying with my sis and leaving him here for a bit to have a quiet break. Hopefully will help him to recover & give everyone a mental refresher. Can't wait to see my folks, sisters & bro down in Tas!!

My best news is that my vasospasm is almost gone!!! I am on a v strict and strange diet which seems to have worked - I did cheat a little and have a bit of pav with cream over the festive season and the pain came back over the following couple of days so I won't be doing that again.

We have been very busy here. Pearl and I headed to DH's family in Adelaide on the plane the Sunday before Chrissy and spent a frantic 10days there (DH followed a few days later in the car and we all travelled back together. It turns out Pearl is a great traveller - she was perfect on the plane and in the car which was a relief (I was a bit worried about the plane trip because I was alone but I fed her on the way up and down and it was all fine - I spent the trip chating to the flight hostess about babies and birth etc... My sis, her DH and 1yr old also came from Melbourne to visit us in Adelaide (and meet Pearl for the first time) so we had a second chrissy on the 27th with them.

We put Pearl in the jolly jumper for the first time a couple of days ago - she really seems to like it although she does not do a lot of jumping, just hangs out!

Every time I go to feed Pearl in the night I discover her legs are through the bars at the end of the cot - I have tried putting up a bumper (althought I know you are not supposed to!) but she manages to get her legs above it!

dory - I hope you're feeling a bit better. How are you going to get to your mums house? Does she live very far away? I'm sure you'll be fine travelling alone.
The travelling wasn't too hard really. I thought I had a lot of luggage, but I got a few comments like, wow you don't have much luggage! This is what I had: a smallish backpack (like one of the school sized ones, it has been just about around the world with me!) with all my clothes and Isaacs clothes in it, a carry on size bag, a big satchel type handbag, a pram, and a car seat. What I did was put the bags in the pram (its a bassinet style) and the car seat upside down on top, and had Isaac in the sleepywrap. I wanted to take the pram as I wanted Isaac to have somewhere familiar to sleep in the daytime, and it was handy to use as a trolley for all my stuff. I had a lot of help from lovely strangers on the way. It was so nice when I was struggling with loading/unloading my stuff to hear someone say 'can I give you a hand with something?' My reply was usually 'could you hold my baby?' Isaac loved the attention.. I'm afraid he's a bit of a ladies man already.. must take after his father lol. On the train from Adelaide to Melbourne I met a lovely Indian family who sat across from me, the mother offered to hold Isaac for me so I could go to the toilet, go eat etc.. I'd come back every time and find her holding him and two of her little kids singing songs to him. So sweet.
Isaac goes ages without any poos also, usually about 5 days but yes he definitely makes up for it! Don't be worried about it, they can go up to 10 days and its apparently ok if they are breastfed.

fuzzy - I think our babies are in sync with the night sleeping! I'm used to it too, and I actually quite like the snuggly feeding in the dark. Sorry about tagging you in that photo! I realised as soon as it was done.. I'd meant to put my step mothers name who is also Dianne but she is not on fb so it just automatically selected you.. oops! I think I fixed it but I'll check. I love your Bali pics by the way! So jealous.

Yes my days of drinking and dancing all night are over for a while too.. I was in bed really early NYE, such a contrast to last year.

I just bought a little inflatable baby pool from go lo for about $5! I've just put a little bit of water in and put it in the sun to warm up a little, then I'll let Isaac have a little kick in it.. I think it's going to be a hot one this afternoon again.

dory - Glad you are feeling better. I hear you on the fireworks thing. We were home just in time for a cuddle on the stroke of midnight.

Chuckie- Chloe is doing the same thing! I often have to go in at night and pull her legs out of the bars. I was going to get a bumper but after reading Belfie's post I might try an airwrap...whatever that is. Guess its pretty much what it sounds like hey?

Belfie - have a great time in Tas. Get out of the heat!! Hope it does wonders for your poor DH

Buzzie, Wite, Deana, Apes, Bec, Kirsten and everyone else - hope you are having lovely days. I wonder what ever happened to Dustmite.. hope all went well with him.

Its another inside day for us. Another one at 40 degrees. I swear it has been >33 degrees every day for the past 3 weeks straight. CHloe is sleeping a little better at night now. Bed at 7 and goes through until 1am (she has dropped the 10 pm wakeup). Although sometimes she stirs then and I just have to position her stuffed dog where she can reach it and go back to sleep sucking on it.

Wite, I was the same NYE... although I went to bed earlier than midnight I was woken by people counting down the seconds up the road and some fireworks around somewhere. Getting way too old for that stuff.

Chuckie, good to hear Pearl was great on the plane and in the car. Isla is usually pretty good in the car also, she'll fall asleep before I've even got to the end of our road!

Dory, dont worry ive done that too with Isla, made her wait to have a bath 1st before feeding her. Well she screamed the bathroom down so it was a very quick bath for her. Never again, feed first!

Kirsten, that sux about the wet weather. I know how hard it is having a toddler in the house on rainy days let alone 4 kids! Your a supermum! I think we'll be getting your rain soon, the forecast isn't looking too good over the next week. Hot and sunny today though. Hope you've been going well with the PND hun.

Bec, nice bargain on the little pool. Haven't tried Isla in the pool yet, might give her a go in the spa soon.

Fuzzy, wow those are some HOT days you guys are having! Do you think that could be the reason why Chloe's waking up cause she's a bit hot and uncomfortable?

Hope everyone has had a lovely xmas and new years. We just had a BBQ at our's NYE so it wasn't anything big and messy. Like others said getting too old for that! DH got the fireworks out though so that was fun watching them and having a couple of wines.
Isla is going well, still wish she wouldn't wake up so early. 4:30am or 5ish is the time she's usually up in the morning for her 1st feed of the day. But we usually go back to sleep after that and wake up when the toddler wakes (usually 7ish).
She's still not rolling yet... but im not worried. She's smiling, giggling, eating her hands, grasping at toys etc. We have nicknamed her 'Smila' instead of 'isla' as she's always smiling. hehe.

Just a quick one to respond to Kirsten - George is doing really well with his solids. From day one he hasn't had any issues with swallowing the food... it's taken him about 10 days to understand that he needs to open his mouth to get the food though.
So far he has had rice cereal (farax), apple, carrot and potato.
He wakes at 6:45am, has his bottle at 7am, and then I offer some cereal with apple at 8am. He doesn't seem to be a fan of the cereal, so I might try plain apple tomorrow. He then has his usual bottles in the day - 10:30am and 2:30pm. After his afternoon nap, he has vegies at 5pm. He is gulping them down like a trooper! He then has another bottle at 6:15pm, before going off to bed at 7pm. Suprisingly, after eating all those vegies, he still drinks heaps of milk.
He is still drink 900-1000mls of milk per day, plus 2 meals (he doesnt eat much at breakfast though).

How are you feeling Kirsten, I hope you have been taking care of yourself.

We are going to see the paed on Wednesday, so it will be interesting to see what he says about his development. The solids have also meant we can cut back on the Zantac he was taking, and there haven't been any issues. Yippee!

Yesterday, we were at a BBQ and a lady had her 14 month old girl there... she was telling us that her daughter weighs 9.5kgs and was gobsmacked when we told her George weighs 8kgs! Lol We also took him for his first trip to the beach the other day - just for 10 minutes - he was so cute. I'll put a pic up on fb!

Plenty of smiling and laughing here, and he eats his hands at every oppurtunity. He's doing better at tummy time, and wants to be standing all the time, he is so strong on his legs. No rolling, or grasp anything as yet...

Wite - my new year was exactly the same as yours! I somehow managed to stay up, but bombed out 5 minutes into the new year! Lol It really is just another night, and sleep is way too precious these days.

We notice that if we 'walk' Chloe along the ground (ie hold her with her feet just touching the ground and slowly move her along) she lifts her little feet up in a walking motion. Its the funniest and cutest thing ever. If you havent already - you guys should try it. Its amazing that they know to do this! ha ha

Me, DH and Chloe are off to Rottnest Island tomorrow for 3 days on my parents boat. Should be interesting!

Connie - thats sooo cool with George on his solids! We will try Chloe in a few weeks and see how she goes. Keep letting us know of George's progress with it. Oh and on FB -I remember AGES ago you saying something about your DH and football and I just assumed AFL. And in my head since then I have been wondering whether your DH was an AFL player or something. But you meant the other football I am guessing from the FB pics I can see!! ha ha
