    Hi ladies,

Belie - Woooooo Hoooooooo! Go annika! Well done for perserveing and working out what your little girl needed - I have taken a leaf out of your book and am now leaving P if she is just whinging and it is also working (she just settled herself) so hopefully we are both over the worst of this latest challenge.

Bec - any chance Isaac is ready for food? It could help to explain the extra night feeds/waking etc.

After weeks of bad night (and day sleeping) I spoke to the nurse yesterday and gave Pearl some solids. She actually tried some avacado on the weekend and tasted some rockmelon but yesterday we bought out the big guns of rice cereal and pears. She loved it and slept quite well last night (not great though - up at 2am then 5:30am but it is better than the 6 times she was up the night before! Hopefully we have turned the corner here - FX.

Gotta go and take advantage of the fact that P is asleep and have a lie down.

Chuckie - how did she go with the avocado? George has no interest in it, the texture was just too weird for him. It just stuck to the top of his mouth and he couldn't get it down! Haha

Yippeeeee for the lovely girls who are sleeping better for their mummies. Well done for finding something that works for you both. Fingers crossed the good sleeps continue.

I find that if George wakes and just whinges about an hour after he has gone down for a nap, I can leave him and he will fall asleep again for another hour.

Belfie & Chuckie - glad you got some sleep success.

Bec - no ideas to help.... just hugs for how hard that must be. By some fluke mostly Hannah has fallen into some good routines. Not always of course and yesterday arvo was one of those, and last night. Not some of my finer moments, but I am just going to hold myhead high and say, I did better than other times. I know what you mean about the TV.... I used it the other night as a distraction. It worked. As long as you're not doing it all of the time. I actually try to avoid Hannah having any screen time.... not yet. I suppose it can't hurt to try to wake Isaac up and try to impose a routine that works better for you on him and see if it helps? I only mean in terms of sleeping in the evenings.

Ha guilt again. This morning, after a rough night with Hannah when she woke at 6am she was so happy, but I wasn't. So I put her in her cot in her room and went back to bed. I didn't hear her and woke up at 8am, in a tis of course. Rushed down to find her sound asleep - no idea how long she was asleep. Oh and Hooter Hider? My aunt called it that. Wish I could claim it but alas I can not.

Connie - so cute about George and avocado.....

Anyway, got to run some errands.

Bec - I would have to agree with Connie. Perhaps try getting him up at 7am regardless of how much he has had overnight. Then he would be tired earlier the following night. I wouldnt let him sleep too much during the day. Although thats rarely a problem hey? I think the 'average' baby has about 4 hours of day sleep at this age. Perhaps you could think about solids too..but not sure..and I wouldnt try too many things at once as you will never figure out what is going on! Good luck with it all.

gotta go attend to a squealing baby. Its her latest thing

thanks girls. Mum has also been suggesting to try him on some solids , just farex mixed with bm to see how he goes. I think he's too young though but the signs do seem to be pointing towards his readiness. He is using lots of energy too, like swimming once a week and he goes crazy in the jolly jumper every day. I made the mistake of eating a biscuit while he was in the sleepy wrap a few days ago, and omg.. you should have seen his face watching me eat it. I don't know. I always said I would give it to him when he is ready (thought that would be 6 months) but how do I know if he really is and not just going through a growth spurt? He has been pretty predictable during the day, he has settled into his own sleep/wake pattern but some days (like yesterday after swimming) he will go through a 4 hour period where he will feed every hour. He's getting about 4-5 hours sleep during the day.

I might try your idea Connie and try to get him up earlier in the morning. I might find it difficult to get up that early myself though.

Thanks dory, we have a bed time 'routine', jolly jumper for 15-20 mins to wear him out a bit, bath, massage, feed, then bounce on the fit ball to sleep. That works well, but he wakes up after an hour, usually at about 7. that's when the problem starts. He is obviously tired but just won't sleep.

fuzzy - thanks that's good advice about not trying everything at once. I'll see how the new hammock goes at getting him to sleep earlier to start with, and wake up earlier in the mornings. I'm going to an ABA meeting tomorrow so I might ask about the solids then, I'm sure there'll be lots of knowledgeable ladies there Oh dear have fun with the squealing..

Yayy!! It doesn't always work, but most times it works for us!
