Harlow is 6 months old today-where has the time gone? I honestly feel like I have missed out on her "newborn" days because now I have this little girl-It is crazy!

Buzzie- I haven't given Harlow bread but she has had a couple of chips (no salt) while we are eating dinner, she scoffs them and puts her hand out for more!!

Ladies... do you think I have a right to be upset/disappointed.

About 2 months ago, I told my mum we have plans this weekend and could she please take George overnight. She said yes etc etc. This morning she calls me and tells me she cant take the night off work tomorrow so she cant look after him.
I can accept that she cant do it, but bloody hell, couldnt she have worked that out earlier than the day before?
I was so looking forward to a day/night off, and now I am so very disappointed. When she called I didnt say anything, but now I wish I had because I am annoyed.

Absolutely Connie, I think we all get excited to have some time alone and your bubble obviously got burst so it is frustraibg but I can understand how u would be not saying anything because our kids are our responsibility so asking someone to watch them is a big ish ask especially if ppl take time off work etc for us. I know I feel bad asking DPs mum and she puts it in er diary so doesn't get a shift at work.
There's not always that's many ppl we trust or fell totally comfortable with having our kids so I guess u naturally be nice to thoes that do offer... But yep, VERY frustrating... *hugs*

Connie -*hugs* I would be annoyed and disappointed too. On a lighter note - I like your avi!

Had a bit of a freak out here today and took Chloe to the hospital. She was not herself. Sleeping, vomiting and pooing lots. Felt really hot to touch. They have said just to keep an eye on her for now and that she is likely coming down with a virus of sorts. Great. So tired today

    Hi all,

Belfie - So pleased to hear some good news from you! Thank god DP's meds are working! Hurrah for you feeling better - it's annoying when things are such a struggle and all you want to do is enjoy your bub while they are small (or in A's case not so small ). The Dr put P on Losec on Monday and she slept for 5hrs that night!!! I was up to her the whole time though sure that she had stopped breathing because I am so used to her waking up! since then she has not been great at night but I am on a mission now to sacrafice a few nights sleep to focus on resettling her when she wakes (now that she has the meds she is much easier to settle but I think she has gotten into some bad habits with waking all the time and needs to be re-trained) I will continue with my diet but will trail adding new things and see how she goes - the idea was that I would slowly be able to do that so it is kind of a relief that the sleep issues might not be related to what I have been eating - such a weight off my shoulders if it is not my fault. Going to a kinesiologist tomorrow - not sure about it but will give it a go - apparently she will be able to tell me what I can and can't eat and when I can intro new things etc.

Connie - That is very annoying - you prob have been looking forward to the night off for AGES and surely you gave her enough notice to prioritise it for you! Not sure if you can say anything to her exect next time triple check that she can garuntee it before you get your hopes up. How is the house going?

Buzzie - Wooooo Hooo for moving house - did I miss the big announcement that you got that HUGE house????? How is the new car?

Fuzzy - EEEEKK!! Sounds like the last thing you need when you are so exhausted! I reckon we are due some cruisy toddler years after all this sleep depravation! Like that's going to happen. I hope Chloe feels better and you get some rest this weekend - has your DP got some time off so he can help over the weekend?

for some reason I'm not getting notifications so I've just caught up on a few days posts, so I'll just reply quickly before I forget what I read..

Connie - that really sucks. I would be so annoyed, to have a night off would just be heaven and to look forward to it then have it cancelled would just pee me off.

Fuzzy - I hope Chloe is ok, keep us updated

Belfie - so very happy to hear things are getting better

Chuckie - wow 5 hours sleep that is awesome

Wite - happy 6 months to Harlow!

Dory - thanks we are doing well here. The food thing is confusing enough without even thinking about weaning.. edit- sorry just re-read your post and realised you're not weaning so changed my post. Well done to Hannah standing too

Isaac had his first vegetable on Wednesday (6 month birthday), potato. Then started pumpkin last night. He didn't like it, just pulled faces and spat it out. I'm thinking 3 days of each new food. It's all a bit confusing, but I have started rice cereal in the mornings now too, and vegie in the evening. Thinking of starting fruit after pumpkin, maybe in the mornings with cereal. Is that how you are supposed to do it? I feel really lost with it.

Re doing stuff, Isaac is sitting great on his own now, and wriggles around the floor pushing off with his toes with his bum in the air. Just so much more coordinated all round now.

Bec - I find the food thing confusing, but I think what's I've sorted out, is you can pretty much do what you like within limits.

I give Hannah a new food every day for 3 or 4 days, and if she likes that one, she keeps getting it while I introduce another new one, with a new one coming in every 3 days. I give rice cereal + whatever vege or fruit, but try to give her one vege and one fruit. At the moment it's one meal per day but I have been starting to add in a second meal, but starting with only a tiny bit of rice cereal. Hannah wasn't fussed on potato either. It must be time to give her another taste of it. The faces they pull are just adorable and the way they spit out the food they're not that impressed with is actually quite cute.

Glad to hear Isaac is finding his own way around. Hannah is doing more of the things that she will need to do crawl, so it will be interesting when that happens... gone are those peaceful days of her being pretty much where I left her!

AFM - well, I had some me time yesterday. DH looked after H while I went and had a coffee with a friend. It was awesome. Can't wait to do it again, but it felt very weird just leaving the house with my phone, wallet and keys. OMG and just parking the car and getting out and walking away, bliss. It's been a while since I've been away from Hannah. I think I missed her and she didn't even notice I was gone. Then we went out to a party last night. Hannah just loved all the attention, and even though she was tired, just kept smiling and wanting more cuddles. I guess she's over her fussy stage with strangers for now. And DH just delighted in showing her off. So funny to see H, and DH surrounded by a mob of women. I am more tired than usual now, but the memories from last night just keep making me smile.

    Hugs to all.

Buzzie - TBH - I don't know. My DH says it's safer to leave them rearward facing as long as possible and I have done no research on it at all.

Fuzzy - how is Chloe? How are you?

Fuzzy - how is Pearl going? Is she still sleeping better?

Wite - how are you going with your mission to get out of the house a bit more?

Belfie -are you in Tassie yet? GL just you and Miss A and Master X. Glad DH is on the mend too, must be a relief to both of you. Now he's not the dizzy man, what you are going to put in your title?

Bec - how is that adorable little man of yours today? it's funny at my MG there are only 3 girls out of 12 babies, and here on BB, it's the other way round. Isaac is the only boy whose mumma is a regular in here now. How about that? No wonder I am so fascinated by him.

AFM - rough night here last night. I think Hannah might be constipated. She hasn't done a poo for a while and last night she woke up twice in the night just writhing in pain and crying. I did some reading today and it seems the following is suggested (a) cut back on rice cereal and offer ripe paw paw or pear mashed/pureed ( and she had more rice cereal than usual yesterday) (b) add a small amount of sugar to her formula ( but that doesn't work for us, as whether she actually has formula is hit and miss (c) offer more breastfeeds as well as cooled boiled water (d) offer some diluted prune juice. So here's hoping it resolves. I am off to buy some prune juice later. I was going to visit my mum and stay over but way too tired to drive all that way.

Apart from that all good here. I am excited... going to go to the beach this week.... just me and Hannah. Should be good. Pity it's at least an hour drive, but that's ok. My cousin is staying at the Goldie for a week and so I will visit her and we'll do one of my favourite things - brunch.

Buzzie - I'm going to wait as long as possible. If you think about it, rear facing is so much safer. Imagine in a front on collision, everything gets flung forward including heads. The damage to a babies neck and head would be huge. If baby is facing back they don't have that sudden forward head thrust, their head would have a backwards pressure which is stopped by the seat. I have even heard recently there are talks of changing the law so that toddlers up until the age of four have to be in a rear facing seat.

Dory - good point re my title lol! Shall have to fix that Go to Tassie tomorrow, just packing now.

Buzzie - i've always subscribed to rear-facing as long as poss. There's a good video on You Tube here. I remember hearing a lot of friends say how their bubs weren't happy RF... but given they've never FF'ed yet, then how could they know? The other thing I found when I turned X around was that he was sooooo excited to be able to see everything that he didn't sleep in the car at ALL for 18 months (I'm not kidding!), so if your bub sleeps in the car, that's a bonus with RF lol. (Admittedly Annika never sleeps in the car for us).

Gotta run, Anni very unsettled this arvo.. she's been spitting out her losec the last few days and I think we're starting to know about it!

Thanks Dory, I didn't even realise that about Isaac the only baby boy in here now! He has had a bit of a bad day already. We had swimming today and usually get up early so that he can have a nap beforehand but we slept in and my efforts to get him to sleep after his play didn't work. I walked to the pool with him in the sleepywrap hoping he would sleep but no luck. Half way through the class he cried (when I took him out of the float ring which he loves), and was a bit grumpy after that. I though he was even going to fall asleep in the water, when I was floating him on his back he was closing his eyes haha. He looked cute in his goggles though.

One of the MG mums was saying that someone told her that by 6 months most of a babies nutrition should come from food NOT milk and was going on about it as if she knows everything. I was so annoyed, and the looks she was giving me when I was talking about how Isaac is just starting solids now were unbelievable. Why are other mums like that? We all do things differently for f's sake get over it! (oops sorry that was at her not you ladies!)
