    Hi girls

Pretz; 1) Chloe tends to go down easily. The odd occasion she will play, whinge then cry. In this instance I get her out if she has been in there for more than 20 mins without going to sleep. I get her more tired then pop her back in - like 10 mins later or so. Seems to work for her. She has a comforter (stuffed dog) in her bed and she cuddles that as soon as I pop her and she knows its sleep time. Does Noah have a comforter? 2) OMG Chloe is doing the exact same thing at the moment. At first it was nice and now it is just downright annoying - I am just making a cuppa tea!!! I dont have to carry you!! I think it is teeth for her - she just got her first two in the past week. At least, I am hoping it is and that she stops doing it soon.

All going well here. I just played netball while DH has taken Chloe to a first birthday party haha. A quiet house as they are not back yet! Woop Woop! Had a looooong shower.

    Welcome Pretz!

Well George had 1 day in child care, and was super clingy there as well, he also got the cold from hell - his first one ever. He has had it for a week now, it's horrible.

If anyone comes up with a solution to the clingy baby issues, let me know!! I am going out of my mind... it's been over a month now. For me, it's not only when I leave the room, it's when I stand up and take 2 steps away from him, bloody hell... I AM COMING BACK!! YOU CAN STILL SEE ME!!!!

Fuzzy - I too usually get Noah out of his bed after 30 minutes (for daytime naps, don't usually have problems with night time sleeping) and then play with him again for a while until he rubs eyes or whinges that he is tired, then pop him back and sometimes he then goes straight to sleep, but sometimes we have a repeat where he'll just play and play...lol No, Noah doesn't really have a specific comforter. He has a blue teddy bear and a while lambie teddy that is always in his cot, I started out with the lambie when he was a baby but then it went missing for a bit and I changed to the blue teddy bear, then found the lambie and stuck with that too. He plays with both of them for a while and I just leave them in his cot with him so that they're there should he need them. Should I try a specific comforter or something else that he can have with him all the time? Oh sorry to hear you're having the same problem with Chloe not wanting you to even make a cuppa tea. I had that this evening with Noah when I was just trying to close the curtains! Noah is still sick so might be that too, but wow, Mummy needs a break sometimes! lol Hope you made the most of having the house to yourself for a while last night and enjoyed your longggggg shower!

Connie - Thanks for the welcome! Sorry to hear about George's cold and that he has been super clingy too! It does my head in too when Noah is that clincy and I love his cuddles and being with him, but sometimes Mummy needs a pee or a cuppa or just need to do one little thing and it's not like I've even gone out of his sight! lol Hope our bubs will learn to be a bit more independant soon!

Here you go girls. this was the list i made before, as there is a few new comers please tell me your details and ill add to it

Buzzie - Thanks for posting the list. Wow, you girls had a LOT of girl bubs in this group. We had 7 boys and 7 girls in our 1st-15th October 2010 babies born group.

My DS (Noah) was born on 30/09/2010.

    Hello to everyone else!

AFM, took Noah to the GP again this morning as we had a shocker of a night with only about 3 hours sleep. Turns out that he has another ear infection, this time it's the right ear (last time was the left). Poor bubba is so miserable and was soooo tired - he only slept 20 minutes this morning, but had a 2 hour nap this arvo and was still cranky when he woke up. He went down at 6:45pm tonight, but I've heard him coughing 3 times since then so hope that tonight won't be a repeat of last night as I'm exhausted and not sure if I can cope with another bad night...

Hope you are all well and have a great evening/night!

    Me xoxo

Buzzie - could you please add my little Alannah. DOB 19th Sept 2010!

Pretz - Question 1 - I have always put Alannah in her cot from the day we came home. Even during the day I put her to bed, tuck her in tightly, close blinds, music on, kiss her and put up the sides of the cot, light off and pull the door to. If I don't tuck her in she rolls around the cot. I moved her cot away from the door yesterday as the light from the lounge shines in there at night. At night time when she goes to bed, she knows her routine. Bottle with a dim light on, music on and then into her cot the way I spoke about before. lol Alannah also sleeps with her 'Dolly'....well two actually and as someone mentioned (toooooo lazy to scroll up to find out who!) as soon as she is in her cot she grabs them both. Aparently the other night when MIL was up babysitting, she put her to bed and forgot to turn her music on. Alannah cried unil MIL remembered (sounds like it was a good 20 mins coz she said she went in a few times and cuddled her) to turn her music on!

I have also noticed this week just gone that she is not ready to go to bed anymore between 1.30pm - 2pm so now it she goes down somewhere between 2pm - 2.30pm and she flakes out right away. Maybe Noah is wanting to stay up a little bit longer now??? Just a thought!

Question 2 - sometimes she carries on if she can't see me but she yells (calls) out to me but mainly it is her brothers she is looking for! :-) Yay for me!!!!

hi everyone, I've just been catching up but won't do personal replies yet, I want to finish sorting out all my photos before I start 'working' again tomorrow.

Our trip was fabulous. Isaac was such a good little traveller, I am so proud of him. It wasn't hard at all travelling alone with a baby. I am so glad I did it but I really wish I had booked a longer trip as it all just went too fast and I would have loved to have seen more of Thailand as the part of Phuket I stayed in was very touristy. I wore Isaac everywhere (I didn't take a pram. oh btw when I was away I seen so many people at airports wearing the 'crotch-dangler' type of carriers, I don't know how they do it.. they don't even have a hip strap to support the babies weight. They must be so uncomfortable after a while). He was so interested in all the people, colours and sounds that I hardly heard a peep out of him. It did feel a bit strange at first riding on the back of the open sided bus/trucks with him and riding in taxis just holding him (or in the Ergo) but there is no alternative. I drew the line at an elephant safari with him though, those things are so high! Feeding him was not a problem, I just bf before we went anywhere and gave him water (out of my water bottle), bits of banana and mango while we were walking around in the heat and that kept him happy until we got back to the hotel so I didn't even need to feed in public anywhere. There was a huge breakfast included at the hotels both in KL and Phuket so I was able to give him his usual breakfast of banana with yoghurt plus some toast, egg and whatever else I was having. BLS was no problem, I just used serviettes to clean up after him. Lunch and dinner I gave him some of what I was eating, he really loves fried rice and mangoes! Sleeping was no problem either, because he was in the Ergo a lot he just slept when he felt like it. If we were at the hotel I just laid down with him and we both napped together. Wish I had time to do that at home! I tried to keep our evening pattern the same, dinner, bath (both hotels had bath tubs), stories (I took his favourite books), cuddles, bf then sleep. I was a bit worried that I didn't have the bouncy hammock but he was fine to just go to sleep next to me on the bed.

Re clinginess, Isaac went through a couple of weeks of that a while back but is ok now. I think it is just a phase that they get through in their own time. How I dealt with it was to pop him on my front or my back and just go about whatever it was I was doing. I know baby wearing is not for everyone but it works for me, and it does not 'spoil' them. It doesn't even make them the centre of attention. Just the opposite, when he is on my back I hardly know he is there. I can't see him unless there is a mirror, so I am less likely to talk to him but he is happy and reassured that he is getting the physical contact he needs. He stays quiet as he can watch what I am doing, washing, hanging clothes out, cooking, sewing, he just observes it all quietly. If he feels like resting his head on my back for a sleep he just does (I love that feeling). Today was a bit strange actually, the first day in ages where I haven't used the Ergo (it was in the wash). I use it usually in the afternoons when he starts to get grumpy, or out for walks. Anyway, I think what I am saying is that wearing them satisfies their basic needs for physical contact and feelings of security and trust, without getting in your way or stopping you from doing anything.

thanks Vixstar, I think I was typing as you posted! Yeah the elephant trekking would have been nice, maybe next time.

Hello and welcome to Pretz! Sorry I can't answer your question. I don't use a cot. Never have, Isaac sleeps with me at night and in a bouncy hammock or on me during the day. Here is a pic, as you can see no room for toys or anything to distract him. I only put him down to sleep when I can see he is about to go to sleep, usually after a bf. Sometimes if he won't go to sleep right away in the hammock I sit with him and gently bounce it or rub his leg or chest which also makes it bounce, if he looks like he is not ready for sleep I just get him up for either a play or I hold him for a while depending on how he is. Evenings are different though, he goes to sleep right away in the bouncy hammock (which is in the lounge room) then I take him to bed when I am ready to go to bed. Isaac doesn't have a comforter.

I feel like I am an expert on Seperation Anxiety now that harlow had it for TWO MONTHS!!!! It did my head in, i was in tears, i was yelling at DP because he couldn't hold her because she would cry, I kept saying he had NO idea just how bad it was because I could NOT leave her sight or she would scream blue murder.

It will pass, I had NO faith that it would- but it does...in THEIR own time.
Now if I leave the room and Harlow doesn't cry, I come back and clap my hands and shout hooray- I also get Jett to do the sam thing and that has been helping...and if all else fails, i throw her a Baby Mum mum rice cracker and it gives me enough time to run to the toilet and back!!

Bec - missed you chicky, but so glad you had a nice trip away..... it sounds awesome! You must be so proud of Isaac, and yourself. I haven't been wearing H as much lately - successive of illnesses and then a shocker last week - gastro. Yikes I was miserable. I would not wish that on anyone. Anyway, you have inspired me, as always, to do some more baby wearing. Oh and glad Isaac was happy just crashing out next to you on the bed without his happy hanger.

Wite - glad Harlow's anxiety is passing. H's comes and goes. Somedays she's fine, and others she's like Harlow. What can I do? She's been like that since she was 4 months old. I am glad you took some time to do something for yourself, it's easier said than done.

Connie - you did really well for George not to get a cold til he was almost 11 months old... can you believe it? I hope he gets better soon - it's miserable for them, and hard on you.

Pretz - poor Noah, having another ear infection. And you with the lack of sleep!

Fuzzy - hope you're not too sore after netball.... that long shower would have helped. I think I am going to give up on the idea of getting super fit again whilst I am bf'ing. It seems every time I get back to running or sport, I come down with some illness. Pretty much I've been sick for the past month with different things.

I am feeling pretty glum today. Not sure why. It's a fab day here, sun is shining, I had brunch with my cousin and H almost crawled for the first time ( on the restaurant table of all things) and I not feeling sick anymore.... so I have every reason to be happy, but I just can't muster it. Oh well. Maybe a nap will help? Assuming H goes to sleep.

About the sleeping question? I do what Fuzzy does. Pretty much H will only really crack it if something is wrong - like she's not well or not tired. H will often play/grizzle/talk for a while before she sleeps. I think that's ok. I go in if she's winding herself up and either try to settle her in bed, or just bring her out to "reset" and maybe start again, or just leave it til the next nap. Afterall, I don't fall asleep straight away after I go to bed. So I can't really expect her to.

    Anyway nap time.

I've been reading & haven't had time to reply to everyone. I won't do persies, but will reply to those questions.

Question 1 - Annika occasionally does that, but on the whole is pretty good. She's not THAT mobile yet, so I tuck her in with a sheet and that stops her partying. I might be in trouble once she can really get her wriggle on. I do seem to remember X going through a stage like that when he was first really mobile and I just persisted with his routine. They still get a rest even if they're choosing to play in it, so if he's happy I'd let it go.

Question 2 - I'm lucky in that Annika hasn't had too much separation anxiety. Occasionally when she wakes she'll get a little freaked if it's someone other than me getting her up, but otherwise she's usually fine. I guess she often has X around entertaining her too if I'm not there, and she just ADORES him... so beams her head off if he's anywhere nearby.

Bec - your holiday sounds awesome! I must say that your lifestyle is so different to me, but I love reading about it, as it definitely works so well for you.

Thanks for the kind words regarding our pusscat Frodo who died on Thursday. Dug his grave on Sat, that was just horrible. Still sad, but doing ok.
Today X got sent home from daycare covered in head to foot hives, so that was a distraction I coulda managed without arrrgh. We don't know what caused it, but are hoping it was an accidental exposure (my daycarer has always been so careful with his food). Annika is great, got nicknamed medicine ball the other day - she's such a little chunker lol. She's rolling everywhere now. Still can't go forwards at all, just slides backwards & rolls sideways haha. X was exactly the same, I'm surprised they are both so similar tbh.

Hope all the bubs & mummas are doing well.

thanks Dory I hope you got over your gastro ok, how awful. Hannah Bear will thank you for wearing her! They love it, well Isaac does anyway. Don't worry, just because it's a perfect day outside doesn't mean you have to be feeling chirpy. We all have bad days, great weather or not. I hope your nap helped. Yay for Hannah almost crawling!

Wite - good to hear Harlow is getting through her separation anxiety stage.

I forgot to update on Isaac last time. He has a tooth finally! It came through on my first day of holidays. Looks like the second bottom one is closely following. He has grown a lot in the last two weeks, unless I have only noticed it because I have put him in long onesies with feet for the first time in two weeks, his toes are now all squashed in the ones he was wearing before. Have to go and buy more size 1's very soon. Can't remember if I said this before but he is walking around furniture and walks when I hold his hands, wobbly but he goes where he wants to go. His favourite 'word' at the moment is "YEAH!!" repetitively said like that, loudly and with excitement (he has a deep voice for a baby, and very loud). It is very funny, but he likes to do it at very inappropriate times - when all is quiet and serious like when we were lining up in the very crowded immigration hall in Malaysia or at the reception of a fancy hotel. Funniest time was at an airport (I think) when I was putting him on my back, and I heard YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! so loudly.. I cracked up laughing and everyone turned to look at us. That didn't stop him though!

Hi Belfie I was writing at the same time as you posted so I missed it. So sorry to hear about Frodo, that is really sad. Sounds like he will be very missed. I know I do things differently to most. To tell you the truth I was actually thinking of not coming back in here after my holiday as I feel like the odd one out most of the time iykwim and sometimes I feel like you all must think I'm a bit of a fruitloop. But I did come back, there's nowhere else I can really write some things and I would miss you all.

Bec - OMG, thank-you so much for the giggle fest - Isaac yelling YEAH YEAH YEAH all over the world, just had me in fits of the giggles. We did some back wearing in the ergo yesterday whilst I got the washing in. Not sure if I had H in correctly. Will try again today. She is ok with front wearing, but obviously we both need more practice at back. The nap helped a little but reading your words helped today. Ahh a tooth or two. So cute and exciting huh?

I wanted to say that I would very much hate for you not to come back in here. I always look forward to your posts. Just because you do things differently to "most" doesn't mean you're not a valuable part of the group or a good mum.

I know it's easy at times to feel isolated from people when you're experiences are different. I felt like that when I first joined our belly buddies group - my pregnancy experience so was very different in some ways, or at least getting to that point was - but even though at times I felt so isolated and removed from what everyone else was doing, I still came back because you were a welcoming and supportive group of mummas to be.

I think you're a fantastic mum and that Isaac is lucky to have such a dedicated and loving mumma. Difference is good and should be celebrated. Your choices are made as a result of your instincts to love and nuture Isaac and also from your life experiences. So each of us approaches parenting in our own way. I love your way. It's not all for me, but I love it. I would love to do the things that you do.

So none of this self doubt stuff and feeling like you don't belong. Pffftt to all of that.

Buzzie - thanks for doing the list, you were always so good at it and still come through.

Belfie - I am so sorry about Frodo. I know just how much it hurts. Grieve your little fur kid as you need to. Make sure you have a nice pic of him to take with you. I hope X is ok with his passing. It can be hard for kids to understand. Hope his hives were just a once off....

Anyway, I am off to nap again.... I don't feel as glum today, which is a relief, but still not got my mojo.

Hey Bec. I know we barely know each other but I was thinking about your trip os and thought 'wow'. I could NEVER do that and I really admired that you wanted to do it and did it! Hats off to you. I have not even taken all three of mine to the shops alone. I manage preschool or a walk to the little shops but find it too stressful.

I also remember you talking about - know idea what it is called - but how the African Mummas 'toilet' their babies. Alannah still wears nappies but I am more aware of her 'poo' signs (lol) and get THAT poopy nappy off right away. I mean, I have never left my kids in their own mess but I guess I am more conscience of it now. I thank YOU for that.

Pfft....you parent your way, we do it our way! That what makes life interesting. If we all did it the same way......boring! :-)

I know my child hood exp certainly shape the way I parent and also have me in fortnightly counselling sessions so that I don't let history repeat itself for my children. I am very mindful of my past. People look at me like I am fruit loop when I talk about my 'understandings' of my children. I don't see myself as their Mum. I see myself as their Mum, their friend, their mentor, their safety net and their teacher. I guess being an older Mum too makes things a bit diff. Sometimes i think I weird people out too but I keep coming back as this is my parenting community.

    Hey girls,

Nice to see it so chatty in here!

Vix - Hiya! Not sure whether you got my message this morning, sorry if I caught ya in the middle of something.. I tried to reply to your txt but my phone is annoying me today! Ugh! I agree with you that you should parent the way you believe is right for your own kids. People shouldn't judge others no matter what as they don't always know their situations either.. I (knowing you and even if I didn't) would NEVER EVER think or have thought of you as a fruit loop or weird, infact, when I think of you 2 things comes to mind: 1) You ALWAYS put a smile on my face and say things that make me laugh and 2) You are a genuine and caring person with a heart of gold!

Bec - Wow, what a trip! Sounds like you had a blast and I can understand not going on the elephant, I wouldn't have either and not just because of Noah but I suffer from acrophobia (being afraid of heights)! lol Thanks for the welcome and for your comment re: my question. Yay on Isaac's first tooth! How did he go with teething? Noah has 4 now, did well with the bottom 2 (got them 6 days apart) but was a bit more miserable with the top 2 that he got 3 days apart. How cute about him saying "YEAH!" Bec, I don't know you very well as I just joined this thread, but please don't go as I'd love to get to "know" you in here and I'm sure the other girls don't want you to leave either.

Wite - Glad to hear that Harlow is past the seperation anxiety now. Noah has been a bit better the last day or so which is good and I guess you are all right that it's a phase they go through and he will eventually learn to be more independant.

Dory - Thanks, he seems a bit better today and a bit more happier and chirpier than he had been for days. He slept through the night last night as well and usually he wakes just before DH's alarm in the mornings, but didn't this morning, so must've needed that extra sleep! lol I hope that you get your mojo back soon and that you get to have a nap with HB.

Belfie - GBH to you! RIP Frodo. Sorry to have about X being covered in hives. Thanks for your reply to my questins too.

AFM, Noah seems to be doing a bit better now and is not as clingy anymore. I'm kind of glad as I haven't been feeing very well the last 2 days (have this horrible pain in my left side and have had some spotting....WTF? I'm on CD16 so not sure what that's all about. I finally had/have a GP appointment booked for tomorrow, but phoned yesterday morning to try to change my GP appointment for yesterday or today instead, but couldn't get in yesterday as my GP was fully booked, then was booked to see him this morning, but they phoned me at 7:30am saying that he wasn't going to be in for the rest of the week due to personal reasons....so I tried to reschedule with the lady GP I sometimes see there when my GP isn't in and she's fully booked today, so I have a new appointment now for tomorrow arvo at 14:15pm.... Sucks when you have to struggle to get in to see a GP when you're in need of seeing one. Thankfully MIL is still able to look after Noah for me while I go to my appointment.

Well then, off to have some lunch.

Hope you all have a great arvo!

Bec - Don't be silly!! I think you and I probably have the most opposite parenting styles, but you want to know the truth? I completely admire you as a mum. Not only are you totally in tune with your little boy, but you have done it all on your own. You are an amazing woman, and I wish I had just a third of your patience!!

Just popped in to say that!
