Sheree, OMG that sounds horrible! So you have a milk bottle sized clot in your belly? Gross! I hope you are taking it easy and aren't feeling too bad after all of that. Was is anything to do with the platelet problem you had during pregnancy? How long does your DH have at home?
Mad4e, welcome :) I hope your little girl is home soon. I read another thread about your DH being ill as well - hope he is better soon too.
Alish, I cried the other day because DH had the washing in too many baskets. And it was an effort to contain myself when the servo didn't have crispy M and M's for the car ride home from the city yesterday lol But Zap is right, if you think there is more too it and you are feeling overwhelmed or not right then mention it to a dr.
Kimbles, I hope your boobs are coming right. Is it the nipples? Maybe try contacting a lactation consultant to check her attachment. I have known of a couple of babies that don't seem to like being naked in any way. Have you got a sling? Often if you can't put them down a good sling is a sanity saver!
Zap, how are the big boys settling in with bub? My DS loves baby, but DD is a bit young to understand and gets quite upset if I can't hold her when she wants.
All good here. Trying to get back into the kindy run and the old routine. Erin is a delight. She spends a couple of hours awake in the morning and evening and sleeps the rest of the time just waking for quick feeds.

art - nice to hear from you & glad everything is going well!
urgh - had the mchn here today, i was feeling quite good about my feeding routine until she walked through the door.
she told me i need to express more to make more milk & that i should be topping her up with breast milk not formula & that if i dont stop bottle feeding her she wont take my boob anymore.
its people like that that make me feel like all the good work i think ive been doing is wrong, that im actually a bad mother.
i cant help it if im not making enough milk.
she seems to like my boob more than the bottle anyway, she only drank 10mls of formula last feed and hasnt been finishing off formula bottles for the last day.
:(:(:(:(
-
Oh Alish!! it actually sounds like you. Are making plenty of milk if she is only taking 10ml from her ff. Have you being in contact with ABA? The ladies are lovely and a wealth of knowledge!
-
I didn't mean for my last post to sound like you SHOULD be souly bf. I just meant it sounds like you are doing a great job with bf maybe you can slowly fase out the ff if you want to?? I gonna shut up now cause I feel like I am just putting my foot in it!
-
Alish, sometimes MCHN forget how har it is when you first start. If it's working for you, and Hayden, then that's fine. If you'd rather the other way then go with it. With DS I spent the first twelve months doubling my decision to stop breastfeeding when I really had to, but now I look at my strapping, healthy, intelligent 5 year old and think, who would know? You know what works for you and if you were happy then stick with it. Stay strong :) respect your instincts, you're doing it just right :)
Sorry for crashing your thread ladies! Congrats you each and everyone one of you. Despite the ups and downs early on, be proud you brought a beautiful little human into this world.
Bec

Poor DH just had his first projectile poo experience! Little drops of yellow poo all over his clothes, the carpet, the wall...!
-
LMAO Kimbles! That would have been amusing (for you, probably not your DH lol)
Alish, if Hayden is happy taking boob and bottle then I don't see any reason that she would stop taking boob. Heaps of people use bottles to comp feed, either with formula or expressed milk. Do what works for you both.
-
hey bec!! hows it going?? thanks xx
zap - i havent taken offense, dont worry :)
i did ring the aba, they didnt tell me much of what i havent already been told. the woman i spoke to was lovely though.
yeah the last 24 hours she hasnt actually drank more than 10 or 20 mls of formula anyway. this morning she drank no formula and that was after a 4.5 hour sleep.
i expressed for an hour last night and i only ended up getting 60mls. ill try again this morning but im doubting ill get anymore than that again. my left boob always feels like there is more in it than my right. i dont want to sit on the couch all day expressing like a milk cow.
its just annoying that when i finally feel good about what im doing some idiot like her comes along and undoes everything i believe im doing right - like, shouldnt they be happy my daughter is content and gaining weight? isnt that the main thing?
i actually think its pretty cool that a 10 day old baby can take bottle and boob..
kimbles - oh my god how funny. if it had happened to me it wouldnt have been haha! i can do spews, not poo's! even these little mustard ones hayds does makes me feel sick!! and they dont even smell!
god babies are such time wasters, i just sit and stare at her and hours fly by!! i dont know what we did without her really!
-
Hey ladies!! Alish 60mls is great! But ikwym not wanting to sit there expressing all day!! Doesn't hurt to have formula in the cupboard just in case! And you're right the main point is that your little one is gaining weight!
Kimbles- was hilarious the first time dh Copt a flying poo too! He was cursing like a sailor!
Boys went off to cc today thank god dh was home so I could leave ds3 & 4 with him! Hopefully the weather starts picking up here soon so I can walk there and back with the double pram. I have to go to the shops next week with the two little ones and I am already starting to stress over how I am going to manage them both as my double pram no longer fits in the back of the car since the extra seats are up!
Anyway Alessio is wailing for me so gotta fly!

Lol, omg I didn't know where you gals were:) Thanks for the heads up Alish:) Ahh baby crying so just a quickie, will run and read and get back on soon.xox

I'm back...baby has milked this mama cow:)
I don't know where to start but a BIG congrates to all of us. We did it girls!!!! My labour was quite an experience as it would of been for all of us in some way or another but long story short I was 9cm dilated then sudden developed a fever and Teala became distressed. I was absolutely exhausted 40 hours without sleep and was rushed to surgery. Dh was whisked away and I was bawling...so scary cos no body told me what was happening but in the end 3.36pm Teala rose was in my arms. I have never seen so something so beautiful in my life. We are blessed to have her:) Ah the memories gets me all choked up.
Healing is another story so painful and they discharged me after only 3 days so loaded up on pain killers (Thank god).I still can't believe it and yes have had a few cries cos of the entire ordeal as I was totally not prepared after 9 cm to be rushed off for a ceaser. Saying that my little girl is a wonder to me and i can just eat her up. Loves daddy:) and is already a absolute little diva, just gorgeous.
God I forget what I was going to say for personals! Don't you love the fuzzy mind?????
Kimbles, so funny with the projectile poo. Omg it's so yellow!!!
Sheree, hope you are healing well and am sorry to here of the stress of how it went but as the others said once you see your girl all of the pain goes away.....plus painkillers help me anyways:)
Zap, Your lil fella is such a cute. Such dark features and sounds like he is a good sleeper.
Alish, you are doing great. I bought some formula too cos I was at wits end the first night I was home as I was convinced she wasn't peeing enough. It is a awesome investment to keep in cupboard just in case hunny. Bf is a b*tch! And nipples...my nipples look like a shaved down eraser. Get the cream it helps!
Art, Erin sounds like a gem. Great you are getting back to your routine.
Mad4e, welcome!
Big hugs to everyone and baby cuddles. Everyone was right being a mum is hard but dam it is the BEST job in the word:)
-
Just a quick one for now, off to the in-laws for a free feed :D
Does anyone else feel after BF like they've just spent an hour rubbing steel wool over their nipples?! Lol, living in hope the pain stops soon like people keep promising me it will!!
-
Woohoo free feed Kimbles:) Mmm enjoy!
Omg yes, the nipples are so sore. Perhaps this is what torture feels like!:crying::o I'm using nipple cream Linsonah?? Soz can't spell but it is helping.
Off getting a photo shoot for Teala tomorrow, hope she is full of smiles!
Have a nice day ladies.xox

I had cracked nipples. The reason is cos I thought that he was attached properly but wasn't. I had a midwife come out and that's how I found out. It took a while but they stopped killing me during the entire feed, slowly became just at the start and then eventually no more pain. They are right, the pain will stop.
Alish- The only time that bottle and boob is a problem is if they get nipple/teat confusion. It does not happen to every baby. DS2 is on both breast and bottle, cos of DS1 I just try to limit his need for the bottle but it is a godsend at times like last night. OMG I would totally not hook up to a pump that long. If you want to up supply, try and get bub to suckle for longer even with nothing coming out (sometimes they will for comfort) or pump for 5mins after feeding off of that breast. It does not matter how much you get out cos when your supply goes up, bub will drink more (till she has enough) and so you still wont get extra. Just the extra stimulation is enough to increase supply. Also if you want to store it but don't want to waste a whole bottle or bag or whatever on just a little amount, you can freeze it and just add the new lot on top of the old lot. It is ok to do cos that's how the milk bank do their milk. I have a bottle that I use purely for pumping and then I tip that either into the bottle for the milk bank (500mL bottles they are) or into a bag. I have some old milk (milk I expressed on day 4) I gave bub last night cos he has a stuffy nose. You have options to use but the most important thing is that you do whatever works best for you. If you want to FF top up, go for it. Your choice, you are top priority, not bub because if you are not doing what is best for you, then you are not doing what is best for bub. Bub needs you. IDK if that makes sense but I've never been that great with words.
Buying a cord for my laptop once my Baby bonus comes through so will be able to FINALLY post properly.
Over here, bub had thrush from one end to the other and is on Zantec as the doc thinks he may have acid reflux causing heartburn which is why he tends to scream for 3-5hrs straight twice a day.
-
thanks damprye - ive decided to feed 15 mins each boob, express whats left if any and offer formula bottle still, if she takes it she takes it. its nice to know im not alone
how is ds2 sleeping now? has he settled?
-
Today he is sleeping fine, last night I was losing my mind. I really wish I wasn't alone to do this, especially since I cannot sleep during the day because of DS1.
-
 is there anyone you can call to help you? where is tobias' dad? or would you prefer not too?
youre doing a great job, i couldnt imagine having a toddler to look after as well as a baby!
glad he slept a bit better for you, i hope he slept good last night as well x
-
Hope everyone is doing well.
Had our visit from Child and Family Health yesterday, DD is up to 3.6kg (up 270g on birth weight), so means 6 or 7 feeds a day is certainly not an issue or doing any damage! She's now 53cm long, and measuring in the 75th percentile for height :)
On the downside, the last 2 nights DD has abandoned her 5 & 6 hours of sleep. We're back to feeding 2-3 hourly, and it's been taking an hour to settle her after :(. Let's just hope it's just a growth spurt and things go back to the way they were soon.
