how long are you feeding for on eeach boob kimbles? im just curious thats all..
i tried the 15min thing and she just stuffs around something shocking, pulls off all the time, then reattaches straight away.. so im back to the 10 min & formula way.. fark it, its working and she is happy.
thats great she is growing well.. not so great being unsettled. im dreading the day hayds has one and changes her routine!
hope she settles soon.
all good here, cant believe she is 2 weeks old tomorrow.
hope everyone is well

Morning ladies!!
Kimbles great news on the weight gain!! I think we might be heading for a restless patch ds is starting to sleep better during the day so I think our long stretch at night might stop for a while.
Alish- I am guessing Alessio feeds anywhere from ten to fifteen minutes either side but by the time I burb and change it can take up to an hour per feed. Honestly I have stopped timing it with ds3 because it changes at every feed.
We saw our health nurse yesterday. Alessio has gained around 400gm in a week! Ds3 has his two year old check up next Tuesday. How time flys!
-
ah good glad to see im not the only one feeding for that time - yes i have to stop and burp her/wake her also! im usually done by an hour also!
i dont even bother changing til we are finished, little muffin does about 1 million poo's in the space of her feed.
im going to make an appt at the dr to talk about motilium. damn country dr's takes forever to get an appt - im hoping i get lucky!
wow! 400 gms is awesome!! my next weigh in is monday - i wonder if my nurse compalined about my mchn :/
hayds is starting to chub up in her face, she has a double chin naww
-
Nawww love the double chin!!
-
Looks like our baby group is now complete - check out FB if you're friends with Jess!!
-
Just read it!! Yaaah congrats jess!
-
Congrates Jess!!!
Alish, I'm doing the 10-15 min on each boob....45 min later Tea wants more!!! So don't think she is to satified so finish off with expressing. Getting better but it is hard work:P Your doing a super job.
But get this I was told by a midwife when I first left hossy to feed baby every 2 HOURS!!! So from the beginning I have been doing that until I talked to another midwife and she was horrified I was going through that even at night and told me 4 hour intervals. Lol, I was exhausted but thank god it is longer between feeds.
Hope everyone is having a relaxed night (If that is possible with a newborn:).
Glad everyones babes are gaining wait! It's all going so fast
-
Curly - yep, I think I'd have a nervous breakdown if I was told to feed every 2 hours...by the time a feed was finished you'd get maybe an hour or so to yourself before starting all over again!!!
Alish - sometimes feeds are 10 mins each side, sometimes 30 or so minutes or so, other times it might be 25 mins one side, and 10-15 the other. The joys of demand feeding! The gap between feeds also varies - she might go 4 or so hours after a 30 min feed, and then after an hour long feed, be looking for more 90 mins later. DD has had my double chin since birth, funny given she's so long and skinny everywhere else :). I love now though that she gets a big full milk belly after feeds :D
Congrats to Jess on the birth of Zane! I bet she was so relieved that he was in the 8lb range, rather than 10lb+ that her doctors etc were predicting!!
Poor DD has the hiccups yet again (gets them after almost every feed) - I feel so bad for her, it must be so exhausting :(
-
Bit desperate for some sleep (thanks to DD1) so can't reply to everyone but Kimbles - how is feeding going now? Are your nipples physically ripped up or do they look alright but hurt? I only ask because you said they were on fire and I just realized the last time I heard someone describe it that way it turned out she had nipple vasospasms. Just though I would mention it in case it helps.
-
Alish- Tobias's Dad threatened to kill Tobias whilst I was pregnant so no help from him at all. I left him of course
Kimbles- naw poor bubby. The hiccups are just horrible for them
Curly- I wouldn't wish 2hrly feeds on anyone. I've been doing it for 5weeks now
Jess- Congrats :D
-
Art - they just hurt. They were cracked early on in hospital, but now they just hurt. I wondered about vasospasms, as I really notice the pain when it's cold. Trying to keep them warm for now. It's getting better though.
-
Kimbles, might be worth a chat to the Dr, you can get a medication to help. But hopefully it clears up soon for you xx
BBL for more
-
kimbles - mine havent cleared up either - they are getting better though, i apply a really thick layer of lansinoh on them and only use disposable breast pads for now - the washable ones were sticking to my nipples and id pull them off and they would rip and bleed! i find feeding hayden in the football hold works best for my attachment - but everyone is different.
curly - 2 hrly feeds would do my head in! 4 hours does hayden nicely, she drains my boobies nicely after 4 hours. im expressing after every feed to make sure theyre empty and that makes up a bottle for hayds' 9pm feed.. dh does that one
damprye - thats right, sorry i forgot about that.. how is tobias going now?
congrats jess, im so glad its all over for you now.
hello to art, zap & sheree
-
I've actually stopped using nursing pads as I found they made it worse - as my nipples didn't get a chance to dry properly. Thankfully I'm not leaking, so I can get away with it. I'm so glad they're not bleeding though - I think if that were the case I'd be formula all the way, so I'm super impressed Alish that you've kept going :)
I'm using my Palmers nursing butter like crazy!!
-
Hey ladies! I am going to buy some washable nursing pads as I leak like a tap at night and cannot justify buying the sposies for another year! Besides by the end of the day they scratch against my nipples!!
Had no idea I could be waiting up to 5 weeks for the paid parental leave! Dh has being looking for a second job with no luck for the last few weeks we are down to our last $$. Very hard not to worry but hopefully dh will find something soon.
-
Hi gals,
Zap, I like the idea of washable pads, where do you get them from? Yes I agree the sposies scratch and think they would of made the sticky backing better to stick on the bra with, I find the pads on the floor every where cos they fall off:) I know it is hard not to worry with $$$, I understand my DH is in the same boat for 2nd job but it will work out in the end...just the waiting. Fingers crossed for Dh's.x
Alish, well done on mastering the footy grip. I can't seem to master it! Oh that cream is awesome, it is my love atm:) Just a few natural tips, cooled cammomile tea bags on your nipps is super soothing and healing, and just a tad freaky but cooked and cooled cabage leafs on boobs, helps with cracks and bleeds. Are you still taking your RLT? Again helps with milk flow and shrinks back uterus so nice and neat again!:) Just a few naturopath tricks (still yet to try them myself but never know).x
Kimbles, hope the nipps have stopped bleeding. Is the palmers butter working a treat?
Art, hope you managed some Z Z's:)
Damprye, hope you and family are well. Yes 2 hours feeds was KILLING me! Getting better...just a little cos now Teala is used to it and misses it.
Sheree, hope you and Ruby are going well. Hope your feeling better.x
I swear Teala knows when I am on here! She cries her little buns off! Feel like she is hungry every 45 minutes, so think its time for a top up on formula today.x
-
i bought all my washables off ebay - new of course - all avent brand - dh was wary of buying bamboo ones lol.. i couldnt have given two stuffs - meh, his money! ;)
you can also get them out of chemist warehouse/target/kmart etc i think??
i gave my rlt away!! haha wat r the odds that they actually do something after the birth!! thanks for the tips re: nipples! i will try some of them i think!
must be a stressful time for all our dh's!!
have a lovely day ladies! someone is calling out for some boob! x
-
Curly- once they get into feeding so often, it's hard to get them out of it. DS2 was feeding 3-4hrly when he was born but his jaundice got so severe we had no choice but to feed 2hrly and also start expressing and topping up. I fought so hard not to have him go on the bottle but now I'm glad he will take it when need be.
Zap- I'm still waiting for my payments to come through and bub is over 5weeks. IMO payments should start being paid towards the end of the pregnancy, you know, so they can actually be used to buy bub what they need before they arrive. The government ****s me with how they do things.
Alish- Ooh I love the footy hold. I used to use that when feeding DS1 as he wouldn't crossfeed. This time I've actually had to learn how to feed a bub in the "normal" crossfeeding position as Tobias doesn't like feeding footy held. Footy comes so naturally to me but crossfeeding took a while to get used to (still kinda getting used to it but am doing much better) but takes two hands cos otherwise my boob suffocates him lol.
I'm gonna sound like a bit of a nutcase but I only use disposable breastpads when I go out. When I'm home, I use a folded up terry towelling nappy. Comes in handy when bub detaches and milk goes everywhere making it near impossible to reattach. I did forget to do the ole switcheroo once but thankfully noone noticed lol.
Tobias is doing alright. Cute as a button he is :) Didn't get to hit the hay till nearly 3am and was feeding near hourly but I'm doing ok so far today, although getting majorly ****ed at DS1's behaviour but that is cos he's being a ****head atm.
