Yeah, i do notice it is better when i avoid all those things. Strawbs were a big issue for Lu, i found out a large % of kids have allergies to strawbs. So we are just avoiding them as a precaution this time around. Ideally i wouldn;t have those things at all, but sometimes i have a binge, then por Sassy pays for it.
-
MP - I've noticed Missy E goes a bit pink sometimes around the mouth after strawbs so I'm not surprised if they might set off ecxsema (sp?)...and tomatoes too (they set me off sometimes or if I have a lot of food high in food chemicals, eg spag bol one night followed by pizza the next and a packet of cheezels in there somewhere) so wouldn't be surprised. I wouldn't think cucumbers would be a prob tho, there's lots of nice salad veg without toms - just use pickled veg or gherkins if you want some tang in your salad instead.
Ange - I'm sorry I've missed the connection between your dad and massages...? Is he your personal masseuse...??? Is that weird or is it just me? Anyway the massage was FANTASTIC, totally went to the bliss zone, she had to tickle my feet to get me back again LOL. I see the same lady each time and it just gets better and better.
Arte - LOL at the messy house. That boy sure knows how to the air the laundry doesn't he
Just to clarify re the menopause thing - it's poss the chemo has switched off my ovaries (I've had a few other weird symptoms) which can either be temporary or permanent - hopefully temporary. In any case they'll put me on tamoxifen which creates an artificial menopause - but it's not always permanent either. I watched this thing on Oprah a few months ago where they showed that the main thing that makes women attractive to men is when they are fertile (ie OESTROGEN) and since the hormone replacement path is lost to me forever, I'm hoping for the sake of my DH that I've got a few years of fertility in me yet, despite all of that. I'm not ready to enter my crone years yet :p. It's hard enough losing a boob without losing your mojo permanently as well.
ETA - Kate meant to say good to hear from you, sweetie. Sounds like you're doing a good job of getting DP onto the same page as you.
Arte if you type montessori site:.bellybelly.com.au into your google search bar it will spit out a list of all the threads on BB about Montessori and save you trawling through the forum looking for them. ;)
Clare hope you sucking all the juice out of your last few days in Bella Italia...so exciting that you'll be moving when you get home, big job but nothing like moving back into your very own special place called HOME!!!!
-
Hey MD  the weird AF thing could be because the chemo stops cell growth too, so you wouldn't have built up much of a lining to shed in the first place kwim? So you can't do HRT because of the tamoxifen? I hope that everything is all just temporary. I am jealous of your massage though ;)
Ange, Alister can have strawberries, but not a lot of tomato or otherwise he flares up too.
Kate I can't wait to see it - your birthday cake was a doozy! I'm glad that you and DH are talking things through
Arte, so do you still have the new pets? That's great that he is sleeping so well now for you.
MP great to hear that his noggin is growing as it should be :) he sure is getting so big now! When Alisters eczema was realy bad as a baby he got prescribed Celestone M cream and it really did the trick. I persevered with all the natural alternatives first but it got to the point where they just weren't making a difference when it was at it's worst. I've had to start using it again on him actually. I think all the pollen about has made it flare up as he seems to get a bit of hayfever.
I have been about the place but just not much time to post. We are all well though. Erin's 7th birthday is thursday and I had to go to wagga for a dermo appt that day - wanted wednesday but realised the receptionist wrote thursday instead so its a good thing I checked the apointment card! Anyway we decided that I would take the girls with me and have a girls day out for her birthday and take her shopping for her present (ipod - which is also why I wanted it the day before so I could buy it) and then have a nice lunch. Also ordered a cake at Michels pastisserie because I dont' have time to make one for her.
Had to go into town today to pick up MIL who took their car to be serviced and made a quick trip into target and had to buy one of those Santa chocolates - you know the ones, like the cadbury easter rabbits? Because the little bugger opened it, but I caught him in time and put it back and the checkout lady and I were joking about it and then I looked around and here he is with the same one again biting the top off it!!! Lucky they don't cost much LOL. Then when I dropped MIL off at home the older three wanted to stay so they had the afternoon there and FIL dropped them off at 5! so I was nearly all day without them. Not that I got much done that I was supposed to do ;) Oh and I'm a bit excited because I laybyed a timber cubby house for the girls and Alister for Christmas for only $599 down from $1099!!! it was at climbingframes (google it) and I just couldnt' pass it up at that price. Plus they deliver out here too!
-
MD- Dad is a massage therapist, has been for about 20 years! So yep my own personal massuer.
-
Which cubby did you get Trill? They look awesome and great prices as well!
-
hello girls!
MP: wow, that is great news about Js head doing some growing. must be relieving, and to top it off having a good MACH nurse on your side. and 6.5kgs! WTG!!
MD: yeah, in my totally non research opinion (always the best ;)) i vote that it is a side effect of the chemo...what sherie said seems to have some sway...hmmmmm...
ange: oooohhhh i wish i had a family member who was a massuese! THAT IS AWESOME.
sherie: te he he on the chocolate monster! i can soo relate. leila is a chupa chup thief...
that sounds like a good price for the cubby. i really want to get one for leila...but will have to wait and see how the garden works first in the new house.
Arte: ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! your boy is a crack up!!!
AFM: all good here. the last 3 days have been fun! although the night ended with me going psycho at DHs brother. like massive. oh well.
has been storming massive here as well. loads of lightening and some flooding. so exciting. especially because MIL lives in a mountain village so we get to live in a cloud! so cool.
leila is having a ball, she just loves italy and all the food. not to mention all the italian boys . she has made a few boy friends while she has been here LOL!
-
hi everyone
trill- lewis has done the 'bite the chocolate in the shop' thing to me so many times it's not even funny! yesterday i was in the kidswear shop 'gumboots' and he quickly grabbed and bit into something that looked like one of those ferrero rocher chocolares, you know with the gold wrapping? well turns out it was actually a lipgloss wrapped like a ferrero rocher! he was not impressed, i ended up buying him an ice cream to help get the taste out of his mouth :)
i must go check out those cubbies
md- you are one hot mumma who will always have mojo even when you are toothless and 90
ange- hmmm you failed to mention that 10 hours sleep when i spoke to you last, probably cos you knew i would start crying!!!! ;)
ooohhh bbl, j crying xoxo
-
Don't worry G- it didn't happen again.
TRILLIAN- OMG i only just realised you changed my av to 2 bewdiful gals. Thanks so much. MWAH. Got to love being friend with people in high places. ;) I didn't even have to tell you! Thanks. x
-
Hi Hot Mumma's
Trill- Livi loves chocolate here too..lol cubby sounds great
Clare- glad your having a fun
Ange- you lucky girl I could sure do with a massage right now.
MD:hug: I agree with Ginger your a hot mumma
OZ- Hummmm wonder if there is any news yet
AFM- We are off down the coast next weekend and spending a kid free weekend at the
casino.... how romantic well not really we are going with my cousin Sandy and her DH for the Indy... Whilst the boys are playing Sandy and I will be shopping and playin the pokies. lol DH leaves tomorrow for Perth and will be home on Saturday sometime. Kids are all good Livi is talking up a storm and the boys are ok. Jordy has been a little blocked up again in poo situation so had him back at the pedatrician back on the movicol and has had some major explosions so blockage seems to be disappearing.
Hello to everyone and have a wonderful day
-
 G! That would have been so funny! Well not for L I suppose but some of them do look good enough to eat LOL.
Kate, it is the Selwood adventure cubby.
LOL Ange, you're more than welcome.
Clare, Alister loves chuppa chups too and it is either those or the chocolate. At least with the chuppa chups he makes sure he gets one for all of us LOL.
Leanne have a great time and I hope the kids stay well.
Is anyone else having their head done in by the constant "Why?" it's driving me mental, but terribly cute at the same time LOL. Now when I ask him 'why' he answers 'because!' because I often say in reply to his why, "because I said so"
-
LOL Trill that is soooo funny... I dont get why but i get 'what does this do, MUMMY' all the time. and 'what is X doing MUMMY'. also 'where has X gone MUMMY'. Hilarious. he hs also started to call me 'Ima' (mum in hebrew" when he realy wants ti get my attention - in a special whiney voice that I thinnk my mum taught him. i am v impressed he has worked out the rleationships in our family - ie Booba (grandma) in mummy's mum. uncle muchael is Daddy's brother... pretty clever if you ask me!
Leeanne - enjoy your girly time.. shopping!!! love it..
Clare - lol at the boyfriends... does she take after mummy??? the idea of the big strms in the moutain village sound gorgeous. are yo bringing excess baggage home?
Off to WW today, wonder if i have lost anything.. i am not sure... (think i may have cheated a bit and could do with more exercise)
Poor J kept waking last night, thik his excema was bothering him so i moistursed finally at 5am.. and he went back to sleep. that moo goo cant arrive soon enough.
I just ordered a play ring for J - never had one for N but J seems to love sitting up... hope it arrives in time to take it to the coast.
Am lookin for a car tpy for N - anyone have anything good?
-
LOL PP, I bet it was your Mum. Erin always preferred to be sitting upright as she was such a stickybeak as a baby and had to be able to see everything that was going on. I did want to get one of those ring things but could never convince DH it was a good idea. We just have small board books in the car for Alister because anything that makes noise drives me mental when I'm driving. They came in a little bag and I can sling it over the arms of his maxi rider so he can put them in and out himself and he reads and chatters away.
-
Its a GIRL!!!!!
Little baby 'Zoe' arrived at 5.35am this morning, after a 3.5 hour labour. 7lb 13oz & 56cm long. Katie had a bit of bleeding so will be staying overnight, otherwise all is fine.
YAYYYYY CONGRATULATIONS Katie & well done on the 3.5 hour labour!!!
-
YAY! Soooo exciting!
Congrats Katie and welcome to the world Zoe!
I cant wait to hear more....
Our little family is growing again! xxxxxxxxxx
-
Fantastic news! Welcome little Zoe and well done Katie. xxxx
-
CONGRATULATIONS Katie,Jay&Logan on the birth of Princess Zoe
Yiiipppppeeeee:dance::dance::dance::dance:
-
Welcome little Zoe!
I am so happy for you Katie! I love the name too!
PAP, my kids have little heads (like me - great trait to pass on if you ask the person that has to push them out lol). Amelia was on about the 80th percentile for birth weight but the 30th percentil for head circumference. I can barely make out her fontanelle, but noone seems worried. That is clever that N has worked out the relationships, it is hard for kids to understand that their parents have parents too. Is N better at night again now that your DH is back?
Clare, the italian boys will be more of a worry when you are over there when she is a pretty teen lol
Trill, the new pets didn't work out - the scary looking centipede things butchered the worms overnight, then one made a break for freedom when they were 'playing' in the sandpit. The other vanished while having a turn on the trampoline lol Well done on the cubby house bargain!
Leanne, hope Jordy is all fixed up now. I have been meaning to ask you how he was going. Is it J or X that has the ear problems?
The night out with the mothers group ladies was nice, but left me very aware that any nice clothing that I have is a size too small and too summery for here.
William was a little hero this morning! I locked the keys in the house, but used a packing pellet to reach an open window and shoved William inside and onto the table, then lowered him down to the ground and he opened the sliding doors so I could get inside. He looked very proud when I told him that he had rescued Amelia and I lol.
-
Aww such a happy day, very pleased for Katie. & she popped just before we are due to fly out to Bali lol I was worried about net access over there!
On a crappier note, poor Mads is a miserable sick mess. We just dont know what to do. We fly out later tonight. Cant believe the timing. Called in sick to work, I swear one of these days I'm going to get the sack, been so unreliable with illness lately. Anyway off to the dr in an hr, I hope she gets the ok to fly otherwise I just dont know what we will do. Tried to change our flights last night but the price doubles. Maybe the heat in Bali will send all bugs packing? I feel very yuck too but cold & flu masks the symptoms pretty well. Anyway will see what dr says. whinge over lol
-
Look at this...I head to the gym and miss the announcement! rofl.
Congrats again Katie, can't wait to see some of your gorgeous pics
-
CONGRATULATIONS to Katie on the safe and happy arrival of little Zoe! *Love* the name, sooooo chuffed there's another (so not really September) September baby in our little family :happyforyou:
Well the men were here clumping around and drilling and sawing and turning the power off and on and now I have Aircon! Big windy lovely aircon that blows all thru the house. Of course it's freezing and windy and raining today so I won't get to test it out today but I'm happy it's there anyways!!!
LOLing at the bug-keeping fiasco Arte. PMSL that they were let out for a turn on the tramp. Sounds like it was survival of the fittest in a box. WTG William the hero, you only have to train him up a little more and you could have your very own burglary-derived income stream, very ****ensian LOL.
MM - aw so sorry to hear that crummy timing, I hope it doesn't muck the holiday plans around too much. Poor little chookie. FWIW I flew once with an ear infection which was not noice at all but I got to the other end and a day or two later the drugs kicked in and I ended up having quite a nice holiday after all.
MP, did you mean a toy for using in the car OR a toy car to ride in? Good luck with WW today, I haven't done anything about it yet (too many desserts while the ILs were here). Missy E has her own special whiney voice, if "mummy mummy mummy" doesn't get my attention quickly enough she'll call me by name.
Trill what a bargain on the cubby! LOL at why why why..because. Missy E hasn't stumbled onto that one yet, she's too busy ordering us all around to ask any questions! LOL at the chocolate Santa moment. Missy E hasn't had any accidental shoplifting moments yet...I'm surprised since she has telescopic arms. (BTW - can't have HRT because the funky boob cells were oestrogen receptor positive - so they tell you to steer clear of artificial hormones for the rest of your life to prevent recurrence).
Ange, well I still reckon it'd be weird getting a massage from your own dad but I love the idea of your own personal masseur!
Ginger, you always know the right thing to say to cheer me up! LOL at L's misadventure with the lip gloss!
Leanne, so good to hear from you, sounds like things have been pretty busy with you. Enjoy your weekend away, so great to have some time away from everyday life. The kiddies always seem to enjoy their sleepovers with family too.
Clare, I've got all dreamy since you said you're in a mountain village...even more movie-like than before!
AFM - slightly paranoid today after Missy E was playing with an empty fruit juice bottle with a bit of water in it, she tipped it up and sort of choked after the water shot into her mouth/throat fast. She really couldn't breathe at all for the space of a couple of inhalations before she managed to cough it out (and have a big cry). That was last night. Saw the thing on Oprah about dry drowning so I've been irrationally paranoid ever since, got up all night to check she was breathing and lips weren't turning blue or anything. I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with her, her breathing sounds completely clear and she's full of beans today but I'm having trouble getting on top of my paranoia so I've booked an appt at the GP for them to listen to her chest. More so I can sleep tonight than anything LOL.
-
Oh no MD- i dont know if i want to know what dry drowning is? I am sure she will get the all clear at the gp, but good to check for your own peace of mind.
Arte - N is being alot better since DH came home - cheeky little so and so... though i am jealousof yu all as he still doesnt sleep through- he is pretty good though.
MM - hope the gp gives M the all clear to fly, poor little thing. i guess be prepared for some screaming... i think if you have a med cert they will let you chg flights - maybe call and beg...
WW went well - I lost 1.9kg this week!!! i am in shock... i guess the first week is always going to be a good one but i am v happy w that!
-
Selfish post sorry girls. Been to the Dr & been crying ever since. Poor Maddie is so unwell, she has a horrible cold but the worst part is both her ears are infected. Therefore she is unable to fly as the risk of causing permanant damage is too high. Dr said she definately cannot go. So been bawling my eyes out for my poor sick girl. Dr gave us a medical certificate to change our flights, but the price doubles, as we got them on sale for $300. Otherwise we can get part of our money back under travel insurance. However DH's parents have offered to take her for the 8 days we are away, & we are going with that. I hope we are doing the right thing. She is on antibiotics now & a stronger one at that, so hopefully after a couple of days she will be on the mend. Dr is referring us to an ENT as well, as she has had too many ear infections and she still isnt saying alot. I know they will look after her, but god I feel guilty. :( :( Are we doing the right thing, or should we just stay at home??
-
Oh honey - whata tough situation and hard to have the make the decision so quickly... I cant say what to do or what i would do as i guess it depends on the situation at the time. I'm sure she willbe ok at the ILs place as she stayed there happily last time - and will you and DH be able to relax and have a nice holiday or will you fret the whole time? if you will still enjoy yourselves i guess on balance go - it wont matter in the long run.
I think it is good you are going to the ENT - this happened with a friend whose son was having lots of infections - they gave hm grommets and his speech took off a few months later... good to get it checked out in any case...
Big hugs sweetie - what an awful situation. I am sure you will do what's best for you all. xxx
-
MM- I am sure she will be fine with your MIL. RE the ENT Thats great news he might just put gromets in and then I am sure you will notice a huge difference in her. I hope she gets well soon. Poor Luv
Art- Xavier is on his 3rd lot of gromets his ear canal is imature.
MD- Poor Miss E that def would have been scary
MP- WTG on the weight loss thats awesome.
-
congratulations katie and jay and logan. i love the name zoe, it is gorgeous, you must be so thrilled
mm- oh no, what horrible timing. i'm sure the ILs will spoil her rotten and take wonderful care of her. what is an ENT?
mp- fabulous weight loss...mine has slowed down a little  but slow and steady wins the race, or so i keep telling myself so that we can have pizza for dinner tonight ;)
arte- i saw something on the news about a little 2 yo girl in nz being adducted and it has been on my mind ever since. please tell me that they've found her? as i haven't heard anything since that original story.
-
MM - tough decision, but whatever you decide, don't feel guilty!!! You know your ILs will take great care of M, and goodness knows you needs to rest and re-energise yourself at the moment (it's been a hard year for you ) but at the same time only you know if you'll be able to cope being there when she's not well. BTW I also think the ENT is a good thing, in a few months time this will all be behind you. xxx
Ginger: ENT = Ear Nose Throat specialist
-
oh fck! jimmy just fell off the couch and hit his head, i am completely freaking out. should i take him to the hospital? what should i do? what do i need to look for? fck fck
-
I'm so happy to hear about the new arrival Oz! I hope the bleed wasn't too bad. She sure is a long leggy little girl though!
G, unfortunately they found the little girl in a drain and the worst part was they had actually searched the drained several times but always missed seeing her, but they think it would still have been too late anyway :(
H, definitely get her checked by the ENT because it's just not right that she should be getting so many ear infections. I'm sure she will be fine at the IL's and if they are happy to have her for that time knowing she isn't well then I'm sure they will take good care of her. I hope that this doesn't cause anymore problems for you with your MIL though.
PP great weight loss hun!
MD, actually I think I did know that about the HRT in the back of my mind. Have you taken E to the Dr yet or is that not till later today?
-
G, if I took my kids to the Dr everytime they fell off something I would live at his surgery LOL. Unless he is really crying like he is still hurt, vomiting or looks really dazed/glassy eyed then I wouldn't worry about taking him. He will cry like there's no tomorrow but that's usually just fright more than from being hurt. It's scary though
-
Ginger do you have one of those health first 13 numbers you can call (usually printed in the front of your blue book)...ring them if you want to ask about it. Otherwise since it's getting late in the arvo might be worth taking him straight up to GP or ER (depending on what's closest & your level of concern) to get checked before it gets too late, kwim? Just cos he's still so little... Things to look out for - pupils not dilating/dilating differently, liquid coming out of ears or nose, dazed & confused, uncoordinated (bit hard to tell cos he's little), listless crying, or sleepier & unable to rouse, vomiting. If he was knocked out - even for a second - get him checked.
ETA - Trill, yep took her to drs and definitely a case of mummy paranoia. I think if she'd shown any signs that something was wrong I'd have done something sooner, but it was good to get it checked so I can put my paranoia to bed and get a good nights sleep.
-
g i woul call nurse on call - they will ask you all the right q's...
hope he is ok - sure he is but scary for you both. hugs.
-
he seems ok now, he's laughing and ok. it scared the hell out of me, i feel so bad. i thought he was ok to sit there but he's obviously not steady enough yet. i feel so bad.
-
he's rubbing his eyes and tired but i'm tooscared to put him to bed in case he's got concussion. just looking for the nurse phone number now.
-
Call the nurse! they will tell you what to look for... and then put him to be! Am sure he is OK but it is good to know what to check for and when to go to dr.
Dont feel guilty - it happens to all of us honey!
ETA try 1300 606 024 I think I have used this no in Melb.
-
ok, he's fine everyone. sorry to alarm you all. dh just came home and he is laughing and completely normal and playing with dh right now. thanks everyone xoxox
-
great news... havea good night sweetie!
-
G, that's a relief, so scary when it first happens isn't it? MIssy E bopped her head quite hard (on the coffee table - it left an indent) one time right before bedtime, I rang the 13 health number and they basically said to check that she wakes ok in about 2-3 hrs time - so I just got her up for an extra feed then and all ok. xxx
-
Rainy - Oh thats a relief. Its so scary isnt it, M had a nasty fall a couple of months ago and I was so worried too.
Trill - I feel physically sick to know they found that poor girl dead. What is wrong with the world, two years old, I would just want to curl up and die her poor family. Was thinking the same about the MIL situation, but I am going to watch myself this time & just be thankful that they want to look after her.
Thanks girls for all your advice. Feeling much better about it now. Pretty dissapointed though, was looking forward to a nice family holiday. We will go again.
Re the ENT, I am glad that she mentioned this as we have had way too many ear infections. It seems she gets over one and another pops up. DH was speaking to his mum & when he was M's age he actually had bad ear problems too, always getting ear aches etc, so he had a little op & MIL says it made a huge difference. As for speech, she has a few words but I've just started realising that she isnt progressing with her speech as much as she probably should be at this age, & to have the dr confirm that today was good. So glad to be seeing an ENT in a few wks
-
For future reference G- The GP printed this off for me when Lu hit her head and started vomiting. Kids health info for parents
MM- What a bummer. She will have a great time being the centre of their universe. As long as you are able to relax and enjoy your holiday i think it is a good solution.
-
I think so Ange, I dont know, last time I worried about leaving her behind (honeymoon) but we were fine, as was she. So I am hoping it will be the same this time. Such a hard situation.
Just realised that the little NZ girl drowned, how sad for her family, yet in a way I am relieved that she wasnt abducted after all iykwim :(
