MD it was I who mentioned the mini magnadoodle, we went to see Jays cousins who are on holidays up here over the weekend and their girls had one which they gave me. L loves it. Sounds like you had a lovely weekend.

Arte I am jealous of the sleep in, mind you after all the long nights you have had with W over time you most definitely deserve a sleep in or two. How does A sleep??

Trill good work on the Ipods, I was cracking up at your status on FB. I used to sing loudly to my discman and mum would be cracking up.

Not much happening here. Little miss is laying on daddy snoring away.... very cute.

Leila is also a MEGA fan of the magna doodle...we also have a bag clip on that is extra small and leila reckons that it is just perfect for jotting notes down on :lol:

MD: wowsers woman, you do get out and about. mmmmm barossa....mmmmmm...so THAT's the real reason why you moved back to SA!!!!

great stuff on Erin loving the party. birthday parties are so special for ppl. my aunt never believed in having birthdays (or even acknowleging them), so it was a big shock when i lived there for a year and didnt have one. made me realise (even as a 9 year old!) how important they are for kids to feel loved ITMS.

Cally: sounds like you guys have been busy the last few days. when does the toddler bed come home?? we are thinking of converting leila's cot after the move next week...oooh i hope it works ok...

Ange: man, i totally missed the part in your post about your brother. it is so so scary when it happens. i had it with my mum a few times and you feel powerless and terrified all at the same time. i am really sorry that he is going through something so hard, but hopefully this break at the unit will give him the much needed rest and recuperation and therapy etc to get him back on track and outta the fog. xx

AFM: well we made it. only just. seriously. at one point i was tempted to lay myself under the tires of one of the many planes at Dubai airport...wish i was joking LOL! for the most part the travel was in fact rather cruisy. leila is amazing on the plane and did really really well for such a little girl. we used the carseat for the whole waaay back to OZ (made a complaint to emirates about the hostess refusing to let us use the carseat between Dubai and italy...and whammo they made sure that the return it was smooth sailing). the problem on the way back was that we had a 12 hour layover in Dubai in the middle of the night. which, although crapulent, didnt really bother me too much as i *thought* we would just truck through it best we can (we had the pram etc for leila to sleep in too). BUT, i forgot that Dubai airport has been extended and part of the new development was to forgo the 'rest areas' to put in more shops. this also includes some nice coffee joints etc, but without the rest area we had nowhere to hide away from the scores of people (dubai is a 24/7 city and so is the airport...unlike most airports it actually never has a shutdown period). it was at this point that a memory was jogged...leila CANNOT stand being in an enclosed environment with many many people around. she goes a wee bit barmy. (DH and i reckon that she might actually have some kind of manifestation of claustrophobia...mum also noticed it when we went to a shopping centre a year ago). SOOOO for the first 2 hours solid Leila screamed. i mean, SCREAMED. to the point where ppl were coming up and offering her stuffed teddies (which were THROWN in their faces...we now have 6 new teddy bears...no joke). and a thing i didnt realise is that culturally, children are never to be scorned at....so this was difficult when leila was being unmanageable and i was expected to allow her to smash to smithereans shelves in shops or bash random ppl. ANYWAY, after 2ish hours i *kinda* lost it. left DH in the middle of the airport, put leila in the pram (now that was rather tricky when a 2 year old has the strength of a wild horse) and just walked off. about an hour and a half later i came back...leila still screaming. obviously my walking off had some impact on DH as he told me he booked us into the airport hotel. part of me was relieved, but the other part totally panicked as this place is MEGA expensive and you pay in 6 hourly slots (like $500). but he did it, and it really did save us from divorce LOL! not to say that Leila stopped screaming, but at least we were away from the crowds and could have a shower. in the end Leila tantrumed for a total of 6-7 hours solid. mind bending stuff, but i gotta love her commitment. :D

...sorry that raged outta control, but oh deary me, it was tough. the rest of the trip back (like another 15 hours on the plane) went without incident. she didnt cry once and had a ball bribing chocolates off the attendents :D

My goodness Clare, you just turned me off any long distance travel for the next ten years lol. And OMG at $500 for 6 hours of hotel - I would expect it to come with a prostitute or two for that amount!

OH Clare, you survived (*gives high 5*) - after the 2nd hour of solid tantrums I kinda go into a state of shock (some sort of biochemical brain reaction I think) so I don't know how you got through that. Thank goodness for the overpriced hotel. :hug: How long now until you move...is it this weekend?

Arte: ROFL!!! well, no prostitutes, but it did come with some pretty swish bathrobes...that you can take home...the slippers i left behind...oh and they had all the goodies like the bath soaps and shaving, toothbrush, face creams etc that also all came home LOL! Dubai is one of those cities that is built on the notion that money gets you everywhere and everything. it is kinda gross like that.

MD: i still am not sure if i actually survived the screaming LOL! still feel rather rattled and my confidence in believing in my ability to be a good mother is also shaken. but yes, that hotel did save us. probably the best 500 i will ever spend LOL!

we get to move into our home Tuesday week...so like 8 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clare it's got nothing to do with your ability to be a good mother - because we know you are - it was about the extreme circumstance you found yourselves in, and which are not likely to reoccur. BTW my DH stayed in a hotel in Dubai (at comm'th expense ;)) and told me the bathroom was wall to wall marble AND bigger than our lougeroom. :o

Clare - I can't believe you lasted two hours before you lost it, I don't think I would have lasted that long. You're a great mother too!! But at least you are back now and getting to pack up your entire house before the big move!!!

MD - mmm, lunch overlooking the vineyards, very nice!!

Well after a week of Granny putting K down to sleep, she went straight down for me yesterday, didn't have to read stories for an hour, take her for a walk or a drive or put up with a screaming toddler. Almost didn't know what to do with myself!! She has a little pillow now which might have helped as well.

And what's with the 7:00 sleep in on the first day back at work/day care/school when she's been up at 6:15 for the last week???

How are all the toddlers at playing by themselves? K was pretty demanding while we were away and didn't really get into anything, which prompted my mum to say that she needs to learn to play with herself (I think part of it was not being able to go outside because it was wet and cold and also having so many people around that she could play with). However, I figure she must be able to, they've never commented at daycare that she is any different than the other children. And on Saturday when we got back she spent ages with her mattress on the floor, jumping and putting dolls to sleep, yesterday I swear she spent an hour moving water from bucket to bucket with me only filling them up a couple of times. It seems like she can with a couple of things, but the day to day stuff we have around the house she isn't so good at playing by herself.

What are things that keep them busy that need minimal supervision? She had great fun with the playdough, but she kept trying to play with it on the carpet, not her table, so we didn't have much luck with that (when she wasn't trying to climb up on the table to do feet imprints in it....). We've got a few of the Little People things, but she just hasn't got into them as much as I thought she would. I'm planning on having a bit of a crafty Christmas, but again, she can only really do painting etc outside, no good when I am trying to get dinner ready.

Clare, you are a good mum. Epic tantrums are enough to make any mother want to quit and find a better job lol

Cally, is there a girl version of Matchbox cars? W plays with them for ages. Will she watch a DVD? I have found that a life saver with all our recent rainy days. As a last resort I pull a chair into the kitchen and give him a couple of potatos or something to wash while I am preparing dinner.

Oz, Amelia is so far doing the normal newborn sleeping thing - she will go anywhere from 2 -5 hours at night. Not sure what she does during the day, I just go with the flow. How are you adjusting to life with two?

MD: oh yeah the hotels there are AMAZINGLY extravagent. if you want luxury that is the place to go. for the most part i have always enjoyed my time there (who doesnt like an entire city that is TAX FREE lol!). one hotel we stayed at was just soo lush with a bathtub in the middle of the ginormous bathroom and reminded me of 'pretty woman' (hmmm in keeping with the prostitute theme lol). and our towels and bathrobes were heated every evening...kinda weird when you are in the middle of the desert...

Cally: the only things that leila really plays with on her own for extended periods of time are her dolly prams and her dolly cradle. she doesnt even really play with the dolls so much but rather is into organising the cradle for "sleeping" and pushing the pram around with a mobile in one hand and her handbag in the other LOL!

sorry i seem to be MIA a lot atm, and on here just for quick spurts - just a lot going on atm, all good though!
had a fab weekend - had a baby shower on sat afternoon for a school friend and caught up with lots of ppl i havent seen in ages... only took J along and he fell asleep so i ALMOST felt like a normal person again and able to hold a full conversation... then yest we had Noah's kindy concert - soooo cute! i think he was a little freake out what we were doing there on a weekend but had heaps of fun too.. it was great! my coiusins were in town on the weekend so they spent fri with us at my place - so much fun but the cleaning required after that (4yo, 2yo, 1yo and 3 month old pklus all us adults)... and then we also saw them yest when we had a big play at the adventure playground... was lovely and N loves his ciusin so it was awesome for them to have so mnuch fun together. he is getting a lot more adventurous physically - he is def still 'behind' but a lot better - i will be keen to see what the physio thinks when we go back in a week or 2 for his feet.
Clare - whoa on the dubai airport shenanigans! bet you are glad to be back... i guess doing lots of packing up now? i dont envy you, i am thinking about when we have to move (either melb or oseas)next yr and am filled with dread!
MD I missed your lumppost but it sounds scary... hope all is ok. your weekend sounds divine!
I am busy busy just getting things done and thinking about the coast on thursday! cant wait! i will see the gorgeous katie and cally too - YAY! (i am saving pts for our muffin date already!)
ETA - cally - Noah is not very independent with his play - not good at playing alone yet... i spoke to kindy about it and they say he is the same as theothers.. and it is v often a little longer for first/only children..

Yep. It's called Matchbox cars. ;) Gender nonspecific IMO.

Missy E can go for ages on her duplo...secret is you have to sit down, set some up, start her playing, then walk away once she's busy & engaged. Our other endless amuser (be prepared for cleanup tho) is the kitchen sink. A few plastic containers, some bubbly detergent and she's away.

Lu LOVES matchbox cars.

I was thinking matchbox cars. They have some at day care, might sound out if she is interested in them.

We have so much Duplo, but I think because DH really gets into it, she isn't used to playing with it much by herself. Might have to encourage that a bit more.

Hey everyone!

You can get 'girly' type matchbox cars - Polly Pocket ones that come in all sorts of girly colours and a tiny polly pocket doll. THe girls have a few but I took the dolls away as they kept losing them and Alister would put them in his mouth when he was smaller.

Alister loves being the only one here because he can do what he wants to do without the girls bossing him around or annoying him. Sometimes he will want the wooden thomas stuff out and he will build a track and play with it for ages. But most of the time he is outside in the sandpit or riding the scooters on the verandah. Or he will sit and watch TV or read books and stuff. He's quite good at playing on his own and is always off doing something. He's at the age now where I can leave him outside on his own and just leave the back door open for him but with the weather getting warmer I check on him a lot more because of snakes and stuff.

It would be a lot easier if we had a fenced in backyard. Almost everything she really enjoys doing is outside, but I just can't leave her out there by herself, but I can't get very much done out there.

MP - you asked last week or so about 'lite' milks etc, DH drinks the full cream stuff so K can keep going with that, but for yogurt I have been buying the lite version, mainly because there seems to be so much for variety, I really struggled to find full fat yogurts.

Cally I don't know how you do it without a fenced yard???!!! That was the number one thing I looked for when we bought this house - had to have a gorgeous yard which was completely safe and secure. Like Trill, I'm able to open the door and just stick my head out every so often to see what she's up to (she chats to me the whole time, i keep a window open so I can hear her). Is it your house? Can you put some fencing in?

MP I don't think I answered about the milk either. We buy reduced fat, well I'm on the very skinny milk but everyone else had the reduced fat and that includes Missy E who is quite um solid and not in need of extra calories at all. Also went over to lite yoghurt BUT I still buy kids yoghurts for her sometimes for variety (& the thrill of having a picture on the tub LOL).

Well I went to the dr last night and she's given me yet another round of ABs (my 4th!) so hopefully this will be the one that works and if not I'll insist on seeing an ENT. Completely over being unwell all the time and just want to get back to being a good mummy and wife again. Can't believe it's not even midday and I'm yawning and struggling to sit upright. :wall:

I'm giving him full fat mostly now, but sometime he has our milk too...i wanted to do lite yoghurt, just bc i eat it too, but i found most of them had artifical swetners etc. anyway, for now we have mummy diet yoghurts and noahs tasty yoghurts! LOL! he calls them that too...
Went back to WW today, lost 0.5kg - so not as good as last week but the right direction! bought some lovely shoes afterwards... so 2.4kg down so far... and i had a pretty naughty weekend too.. i am hoping i can keep it up on our holiday, may be hard...
Anyone got any baby tips for me - J seems to wake around 5am with something bothering him, he is quite unsettled for a couple of hours - stays in basinette but needs patting etc and is crying out... wondering if it is wind pain but i have used infacol overnight... he does do a big poo often around 9 or 10am so maybe it is that? i am not sure... any tips/ideas/advice on that one welcome... might wite a thread too..

MP sorry I cant help with any tips for J, I am sure the BB community can though. I just love my close carrier, Miss Z is asleep on me right now in it. Do you use yours lots? Woo hoo on the weight loss, any loss is a good loss.

Cally I would go nuts if I couldnt just kick L oitside to play lol. I give him a water spray bottle and off he goes. L isn't very good at playing on his own inless it is outside.

Arte life with 2 so far is awesome. Dont want to jinx it but Z is just great. Is A in bed with you or does she sleep in a basinet? We alternate between the two.

Took Z to the Dr today and she is now 53cm, apparently at birth when they measure them they measure to the tips of the toes. Stopped off at the chemist and she measured her at 51cm lol. L is such a little actor, he is forever doing stunts and throwing himself around lol. He also does this fake cry where he keeps his eyes tightly closed and wont look at me, drives me mental lol.

grrr totally lost my post...

MD: just triple check that you can do so many repeats of the ABs. they tend to get hairy with the 3rd-4th time.

MP: we use full fat milk (guilty pleasure). like the others the yoghurt is light simply cause there are no cool flavours in the full cream.

cally: we too cant have the free play outside for too long as Leila knows how to open the gate :rolleyes:

Clare, no I already had the hairy AB experience with the last lot - stopped them altogether for nearly 2 weeks (until the hairy side effects wore off PMSL) now trying a different lot. Got all the probiotico wondergoodies onboard too. Re the gate - can you put a lock on it - something like a bicycle chain with a combination number lock? Hang on you're moving - is the new yard enclosed?

I will butt in on the full cream yoghurt conversation by saying one thing: King Island Dairy. Honey and Cinnamon. Very naughty desserty treat.

Katie I love your squirty bottle suggestion, will have to remember that once the weather's bit consistently warmer here. It's *nearly* warm enough to put the aircon on today (I'm SO excited!!!) but there's a man clomping around up there and I'm afraid my mega-powerful unit might suck him into its jet engine if I do LOL.

Trill, with all those other kids around it's probably a relief for A to have a bit of alone-time LOL. We haven't put new sand in our sandpit yet...saw the bags at Bunnings for sale at a complete rip off price. Missy E is getting a wooden train set (not thomas but same size) for Xmas and I bet H will play and play and play with it because she never had one.

MP well done with WW again, even despite the naughty weekend! Do you feed J when he's unsettled at 5am?

MD, I saw Bunnings advertising bags of sterile sandpit sand - whatever happened to loading up the trailer at the beach! It is cool when you find little shells and sea goodies in it lol.

MP, no idea about J, but I hope you can find something to help. If A is ever unsettled I put her on the change table with no nappy for 5-10 minutes and that usually cheers her up.

Oz, it is hard to get them measure right isn't it! The midwife measured A the other day and wrote that she was 55.5cms, but I measured the next day when she was asleep and not wriggly and I got 59cm. I think mine was closer because if she was only 1.5cm bigger than birth then her little outfits wouldn't be looking like 3/4 pants lol A is in the cot for the first part of the night, then after that if resettles in the cot she stays there but if she wakes then I just take her to bed. I am hoping that eventually the first sleep with lengthen out and she will sleep in there the majority of the night. I would co-sleep full time but DH doesn't want to, so this compromise seems to work.

Cally, is it possible at all to fence in your yard? I would go insane if I couldn't send him out to the sandpit on good days. As for independent play, some days W entertains himself for half an hour or so at a time, other days he won't do it at all.

Miss A has just discovered she can suck her hands lol She is sitting on my lap slurping away.

W told me his first fib today - I was looking after a 2 year old from down the road and they both had a bag of popcorn. I turned away for a minute and when I looked back both bags were tipped all over the floor. I asked who tipped it out and he admitted it, then when I asked why he said it was an accident lol.

He put himself to bed at 4.30 this afternoon and when I went to wake him he had a red hot face so I assume he is coming down with something. We left him asleep but I am preparing myself for a crappy night. Or at least a very early morning.

Umm-aaa Arte! A wee pork pie LOL. At least he owned up to it though when you asked him.

MD, I bet you $10 Bunnings get their sand for stuff all money and are making nearly 100% profit on it.

Oz that's great you're feeling confident with the two of them - will make it easier to deal with both of them when you're on your own kwim?

PP, when Alister was having the most trouble with his belly pains it was from about 4am onwards and that's all it was - belly pains from wind and poo moving through the bowel because he was always a morning poo-er LOL. Try using some Brauers Colic relief - it always worked better than infacol with Alister.

turns out lewis has got a throat infection, an ear infection and hand, foot and mouth disease. explains why i've been having so much drama with him over the last week........
he's on ABs now so hopefully things pick up. i've slept a total of 8 hours since saturday.
had organised to go out for a 'girls' night' dinner tomorrow night (taking j with me and dh looking after l)- will be the first time i've gone outat night in 8 months and dh just informs me he has to work till really late tomorrow night. great. thanks a lot.....

Ginger I hope L is feeling better soon, thats awful. Wouldn't it be easier if they could just tell you whats wrong. I cant believe you will miss your girls night, it sounds like you could really use a night out. Is there anyway DH can make it home earlier? Or could your dad come and watch L till DH gets home?

MD the spray bottle is the best toy ever lol, he will be outside for ages only coming in to ask for more water. He has worked out how to turn the nozzle so the spray changes too.

Well my dad arrives today, as much as I cant wait to see him I am glad it is only till Friday as I really want my house back lol. DH starts his two weeks off next week, I cant wait. Two weeks of nothing................. bliss.

Oz: totally know what you mean. we had a lovely girl stay at our house while we were away and she had to stay an extra few days with us when we came back. she moved out today and i have to say i am stoked! lovely to have her, but also so so nice to have free reign IYKWIM.

MP - don't think you will need swim nappies unless Noah has a wetsuit! The water is still freezing down here and I don't think we're expecting anything really warm over the next week. Hope J has a better sleep tonight.

Fence - we could fence the yard, however it would be a bit tricky as there is quite a slope on one side, which of course is the side that we would need a big gate on as DH would want to be able to get vehicles into the back yard in future. Would make our lives easier though.....

Yeah Cally I was wondering about that - thougth the water would be too cold. I guess I will bring 1 or 2 swim nappies down in case - but i think the most we will manage is a paddle and a look in the rock pools! I will text you claoser to sat to arrange to meet up for muffins and a play - looking fwd to it!
I think we will buy a spray bottle on the way there - i think N will love it! he is so spoiled though, we boight him heaps of 'active' toys at ELC the other day to take down - he is going to have a BALL! teh garden is bigger than ours too so he will love that freedom.
Lastest breaky treat here is 'milkshakes' - a whole banana and some milk in the blender - goes down v well and he thinks it is a treat with the straw etc. sometimes i add yoghurt and blueberries too whcih is even more special! he isnt much of a breakfast eater so this is a great option for us!
Ginger - enjoy the night out tonight - well deserved! i am thinking i might splurge on a glass of wine! (oh i forgot that woudl add ww points - maybe not!)
MD - I love the KI yoghurts too - not at the moment though!

MP - we just got a spray bottle from the supermarket, the same as I use for ironing. K loves her smoothies (with a bit of yogurt in them too), although they are a bit thick for a straw! K occupies herself at the beach with throwing rocks into the water. She just goes back and forth for ages.

leila also throws rocks in the water. endlessly. until the rocks run out...then it is the sands turn LOL!

yes we have smoothies around here all the time, a good idea is to chuck a weet-bix in there too occasionaly.

i'm excited about going out tonight, i just put some curl activator spray in jimmy's hair and it's gone awesome! LOL, gorgeous spiral ringlets, i'm just not sure how i'm going to explain to my friends that my 7 month old wears product already

Curl activator spray? I'm so gonna get me some of that!!! Bet J is super cutarama with his ringlets! So :) for you that you're dad is coming and you can have you evening out! Not doing anything about TT until my new boobie is installed and my arm is fully mobile - too much extra cleaning involved ;). Summer's a good time to let them run around the back yard without a nappy on. Can you still get those terry towelling training pants?

Re the montessori - I don't *think* it has any religious element to it, I think it's strictly an educational method as such, but it might depend on the actual school that's using the method as to whether they have a religious philosophy underpinning it. Let us know how the appt goes. We have a montessori preschool here and I have wondered idly about it every time I drive past there, maybe i should check it out too. BTW I think 2.5 is too young for regular kinder but montessori is set up differently & for younger kids so ask them about the timing.

Arte - love the concept behind free beach sand but our local beaches are struggling to hang onto what little sand they have. Not sure I'd be really popular with the locals if I turned up with a trailer LOL.

CAlly - yeah I think that water flows your way from down antartica way doesn't it...brrrr. I reckon you should just do it with the fencing, I'm pretty sure you could step it down in sections, or even plane a bit out for the gate, kwim? It will change your life.

Well Missy E had an exciting time at Kindergym today when she WON the 50c raffle! Three little tubs of playdough, not bad for her second time back there. :D

Ginger - great idea about putting some weetbix in, we struggle to get grainy things into Miss K so that would be good. LOL at Jimmy's curls!

Toilet training - K sits on the potty and wipes constantly, but we haven't had any results. I'm a bit concerned that because her vocalising is a little bit behind, we might have a bit more trouble. Although she can say wee and poo.

Rainy, so glad you got to go out. I hope you had a really good time. Yay for your dad, he sounds like a champ! As MD said, Montessori is the teaching method so it would depend on the school if it has religious aspects. Usually not though. I would take W to Montessori if there was one around here. Lol at J's curls - put a pic on FB! I think that people assume all babies with hair are girls, A can be dressed in neutral colours with a blue blanket and people call her a girl if she has her hat off. Hope L is feeling better.

Cally, my neice had only a couple of words at 2 but still toilet trained just after her second birthday. I have been thinking of you a bit - seems that A is a daddy's girl. All day I only get a few little smiles, but as soon as DH picks her up she is all grins and cooing.

MD, did you decide if you were going to stick with the original look or go for new and perky? When is the op due to take place?

A had her newborn hearing test the other day. It took 3/4 of an hour because she didn't like the ear peices. All I can say is thank goodness for those necklace lollies, best 30 cents I have ever spent.

We had the health nurse around yesterday. She said W's talking and comprehension are about that of a 3 year old. She also said that around 2 kids will sometimes look like they are dropping their day sleep, then they have a growth spurt and start needing it again. That seems to be what has happened here, he hardly had one for about 3 weeks and now this week has had one nearly every day again (Yay!).

Toilet training, nothing happening here. I am so over changing stinky poo nappies, especially when it comes with comments like "that is a really squishy one" etc. Noni sounds like she is going really well with Asha though, she said she uses a star chart, I thought that was a good idea and might implement it here.

Hi Girls

Not much new happening here at the moment. And I'm afraid I can't be much help with the questions either. Sarah still naps daily but it seems to be getting harder for her to go to sleep, both night and day. She drinks mainly full cream milk and normal yoghurt but I drink lite or smarter white milk and I usually add that to both our cereals (easier than pulling both 3L cartons out ;))

I've put Sarahs name down at a new centre that opened here last month. They do full 12 hour day care but run it like a kindy and pre prep class thru certain hours that day. So opens at 6am, kindy/preprep starts at 9 (i think) then finishes at like 2.30, then daycare kicks in again til 6pm. It looks fantastic (and theres definately no montessori in Bundy lol) and her name is down for 2011 for 2 days. Its a toss up tho cos I'm not a fan of centres and S really seems to be thriving at FDC. Hopefully, S will stay with her current mum for a long time to come and I won't even need to worry about centres but with the waiting lists that I have been told about up here I thought it best I get in early. :rolleyes:

Toilet training here seems to have taken a step back. She won't actually 'go' on the toilet but loves to tear the paper into confetti and put into the bowl. I don't think shes ready yet but am unsure of what to expect or do to get it started.

DH comes home tomorrow night for a few days finally but then goes back out again. Its great that we have so much work going on out west but am cranky that it seems to be all out there until xmas at least. Fingers crossed the time flies.

Oh and my mate Jen (the one that made my birthday cake this year) had her baby boy on Tuesday! Weighed 7'3, 53cm and looks like his dad, the poor thing hehe. He had to go to special care for 8 hours due to breathing difficulties. I think he sucked up a bit of fluid on his way out. But he and mum are doing fine and OMG Sherie, you are so right (not gonna admit it on FB tho for family to read) I am VERY clucky. Sarah loves babies and I think she would be great with a new one. Thankfully Rory and I are on the same page in regards to getting pregnant again. Both would love a new one but I'm a bit antsy about getting preggers again so soon after our dramas. I think I'm going to need medical help anyway so will see how it all pans out.

Well...so much for not much to report lol. Better go and get breakfast and the rest of the day organised.

Arte that's the worst part about not having them TT at this age - is the poos are more and more like 'big people' poos LOL and it's just not nice to change them at all *yuck*

MD did she have any idea that she'd 'won' something or did she just think it was awesome that someone gave her playdough? LOL

G, is L feeling a bit better now? I hope he is poor little fella. How was your night out?

PP, how has the brauers been going? Fingers crossed its helped.

We haven't even bothered with TT yet, he's just not ready even though he tells me he needs a nappy change whenever he has wee'd or poo'd but I'm not concerned or in a rush because I know he will be ready when he's ready kwim? L was 2yr11mths when he was TT but I think Alister will be ready before that, but just not yet. I will have to get him some Jocks from the place where I get my cloth pads as she makes underwear for babies who do EC so she makes them really small. I brought some 2-3 jocks the other day and they are miles too big. I had the same problem with Paige at first too.

well dh actually ended up getting home early yesterday so dad didn't have to come over here at all. then, to my surprise, dh said 'why don't you just leave jimmy here as well?' i was shocked as he's never looked after both of them before. i think it was because jimmy looked so cute with his curls :)
anyway, so i was quite anxious, but gave jimmy a big booby feed and went on my way. had a fantastic time being child-free. i think i really needed it to be honest. i got home about 10pm and the 3 of them were all still awake wrestling on the rug and listening to loud music LOL then L and J both crashed out as soon as i got home. i swear jimmy aged while he was gone, he looked older than i remembered!!!

md- thanks fopr all the montessori info. i'm quite excited to find out about it. i think one of my friends might actually come with me as she is interested in putting her dd there too. i think lewis might have a crush on her dd too :)

clare- what are these terry towling pants all about? do i need to get these? tell me more!

hi trill, do you need to buy undies to start them off with TT? i'm so confused! i think i might have to go and do some reading up on it. i have no idea where to even start!
lewis is doing much better. he still has the little blisters on his hands but he is much more himself and is sleeping through the night. i'm hoping he's ok to take to a party i have on saturday.

WOOHOO on the child free night out! What did big J think of J's hair?

You don't really *need* proper undies, but using the pullups etc can confuse them because they are just like a nappy still but when they are in jocks they have to be cleaned up when they dirty them and they don't like the way it feels kwim? Plus IMO it's always best to stay comitted to the TT once you start because that also sends mixed signals to them, like if they are only in jocks at home but nappies when out, it can take a little longer for them to get used to telling you they need to go to the toilet because they know the nappy is *safe*. When I TT it was always jocks/knickers while they were awake but when they were going to bed it was a nappy, but before I put their 'night nappy' on I would always take them to the loo to make them used to going before they went to bed and then take the nappy off and put them on the loo as soon as they woke up in the morning and then back into their underpants for the day. I did have a bit of trouble with Paige who refused to wear nappies once we started TT so I would have to wait till she fell asleep at night and then put her nappy on LOL. That's why I've always waited till they were well and truly 100% ready for it and not just because they were x years old and should be toilet trained by now :rolleyes: LOL because it made it so much easier and quicker to have them fully day and night trained.
