lmao MD, everyone tells me boys seem to take longer with the whole poo thing. I have tried everything I can think of. He had a slight case of the runs today and tonight needed to go so we took him to the toilet and he still managed to hold it. Z on the other hand was nappy-less this afternoon, as she so often is, and told me before she did a poo. It had just started leaking so grabbed a nappy, will start putting her on the toilet I think. Maybe L will go if he see's Z go lol.

Bugger about the shoulder, I hope it heals up quickly.

Isa - we're nowhere near ready for no night time nappy. It is always soaked in the mornings and only this year she's started consistently(say 5 nights a week) sleeping without coming in for a midnight visit, so I'm not about to go back down the path of getting her up in the middle of the night to go and sit on the toilet. I'm enjoying my sleep too much - although I need to work out how to sleep again.

MD - hope your shoulder and ankle feel better soon. I've done something to my back / shoulder blade and it keeps popping in and out. Very uncomfortable. Thanks for the summing up of all the dramas, I was also feeling totally out of the loop as I really only have time to check in with you guys and a quick scan of the recent posts.

JM - I ordered 1-2-3- Magic yesterday after your other post, so we'll see how that goes! Hope they work out what is happening with your brother soon.

Brekkie - we tend to just go with the flow, although it eventually happens each day. She might just want yogurt when she first gets up and then has some cereal a bit later. She has the option of a few different sorts of cereal and then she'll do yogurt or honey on top sometimes as well for a change. Apparently she'll often have another weetbix 30 minutes after getting to daycare too.

cally- lol about 30 weet-bix! i wish my boys would get weet-bix into them.

trill- hope you are studying and not reading this.

isa- how did you go with the dancewear?

md- hope you're not put off pancakes for life!

oz- no poos on toilet here still. he knows when he's going to do one because he comes and begs for a nappy. it's so hard. he's going to kinder in undies so i've sort of been hoping that maybe he'll do a poo there cos he has been weeing there successfully. idk? it's not doing my head in anymore though really. i'm convinced something has to shift soon iykwim?

G I am the same with hoping he will do one at CC. I know it will happen when he is ready and soon enough something will just click and I hope it happens soon.

Plus we totally bribed her with jellybeans and a promise of a Winnie the pooh money box. Pmsl, seemed kind of thematic

We had to bribe too MD. The shame of it. Whatever works i say! Speaking of shame, i reckon it will only take a kid poo'ing at kinder in front of their mates once or twice before they wise up. As soon as they see everyone else doing it on those cool kid sized toilets then maybe that will help.

Thanks for all thinking of my bro. Still unconscious/semi conscious. Stirs occasionally, mumbles a bit and then passes out again. Tox screen all normal. No overdose. So no closer to finding out what the hell is going on. It has to be some funky kind of drug interaction as he passed all the epilepsy tests. I just wish they'd find out before it happens and no-one finds him.

Cally- funny you say that about the midnight waking. Ever since i woke Lulu to put her on the toilet she wakes at about that time now and comes into my bed. I don't mind but she kicks like a mule and i get a shocking nights sleep. DH has taking to going to her bed, so it's a bit better, but man she is a shocker to co-sleep with. She's also become really needy at bed time. I have to lie with her until she goes to sleep. If i talk to her about me just going to the next room where she can still see me tears well up and she says "But mummy, i just love you so much and want you to stay: :( How can i saw no to that?! I was going to try a sticker chart to see if i could get her to go to sleep by herself. Any other ideas welcome.

Lol he had 2 accidents at CC yesterday. We have tried every bribe possible, it worked once lol. He will get there in time I guess.

JM, are the Drs saying that it is another bad reaction to drugs? So the lithium caused a very atypical response, and then a few months down the track another drug with a different mode of action and different method of metabolism has caused the same crazy rare reaction? Doesn't add up for me, but obviously I am not a doctor. I seriously hope that they do discover what is causing it.

Ginger, re breakfast, have you tried the Old Skool trick of cutting toast differently? Shaped cookie cutters? W eats toast if it is cut into strips or 'dots'.

Oz, that must be very frustrating about the poo! What does he do when he is out? When A is nappy free she squats on the floor and says "wees", but if I put her near the potty she tilts forward and tries to do it standing - watching W in the toilet too much methinks!

Isa, I wouldn't worry about night time until she is dry in nappies/pull-ups at least most of the time. W was about 6-7 months after he was day trained before he was ready for night - and there were a few accidents in the first couple of months.

Oh I really like the toast cutting idea. Do I just use normal cookie cutters or are there special toast ones?

Oz - Dont worry he will get there. CC reallllly helped us out, M just wanted to be like the others. They basically egg each other on.

MD - LOL loved your example of the 'bumhole to brain connection' gave me a good laugh. Sorry to hear about your accident though. Silly ditzy girls, some people just have no people skills.

Ginger - I love that idea that Arte has given you. Thanks for the dancewear link, and thanks for encouraging my online shopping. Lately I have been spending too much on ebay! But yes I did get a leotard dress thing and some ballet flats and I did end up going to a dance shop, it wasnt too bad. I also found a near new leotard in the op shop today for only $4.

As for bribing, I spend most of my days having to bribe M :wall:

Btw I'm glad to see that we are not the only ones still working towards night time training, M insists on taking a bottle of water to bed each night (I often hear her guzzling it in her sleep) and therefore wakes with a sopping wet nappy

Oz- Take comfort in knowing he wont be poo'ing in his pants when he's 16. ;)

Arte- Nah, they thought it was the Lithium causing it, so they stopped that, but it seems they were wrong and it's something else. He's on a handful of different meds, so it could be any one of them in theory. He's had brain MRI's and Ct'd done, a full day ECT and monitoring and they can't find anything else wrong. No tumour, no epilepsy, nothing. The good news is he is fine today. He is coherent, and ****ty that it's all happened again. He wants out of the hospital and is whinging he is bored. :wall: BORED?? I told him to suck it up, you don't get to nearly die one day and whinge about being bored the next. :rolleyes:

He did it he did it. After all my complaining he did not one but 2 Poo's on the toilet. He wasn't very happy about it but the M&M's after fixed that lol. Let's hope he has turned the corner.

He is out of hospital and back home. He seems fine, ****ed off that it happened again and that people think he'd do it intentionally. :rolleyes: what does he expect us to think?! Anyway, fine, until next time. Unless they can find out what the hell is going on. He's being referred to some professor in melb who s apparently a guru so we shall see.

JM, I hope the new professor cracks the case with your brother. Medical mysteries are cool when it is a good episode of House, but not when it is totally ****ing up someones life. I hope he is managing to have a good life in between these episodes xx

Ginger, I have never seen toast cutters, but now I am thinking of repackaging some cookie cutters and starting a new business.

We went out last night. All of us, to a BBQ. Haven't done that since before Amelia was born. Kids were great, we had a good time, bedtime went smoothly when we got home! Fantastic!

Oz - woohoo to the poo!!

Arte - we went out last night too. There was another little one there a couple of months younger than K. They wouldn't even look at each other for the first 30 minutes, then they were best friends! K went to the toilet and told me to hurry up because she wanted to go back and play with her new friend - I asked what her name was and she couldn't even remember. Makes for a much more enjoyable evening when they were off entertaining themselves.

DH won the cricket grand final - not that his golden duck helped.

JM - glad your brother is OK now, fingers crossed the guru can pin something down. Not much help on the getting to bed thing. We have ongoing dramas almost every night, although she is an absolute angel when it is just me for bedtime (like tonight). Maybe I'll send DH out every night for a week and she'll get into the habit!

Ginger - I just use normal cookie cutters (the thin metal ones) for fancy looking sandwiches, but you can get some (google lunch punch) that are specifically designed for a piece of bread

MD - nothing wrong with a bit of bribing, we've got a sticker chart with smarties along the way and a promise of a Miffy book after a month of sleeping in her bed without coming in to see us!

Anyone else got major mealtime dramas? We've always had tricky dinners, but they seem to have gone really downhill lately. She won't come to table, is up and down, tonight she was deliberately splashing her fork in her milk and then wiped it in her hair! She also takes FOREVER to eat.

Cally, the problem with dinner time dramas is that they have a captive audience. We've had a few issues with up and downing too, I've found she eats better when we serve tea a bit earlier. If she's fluffing around for too long we take her dinner away. We had enormous problems with this with DD1, even after she was going to school (!) A dietician friend once said to me that kids really only need about 15 min to eat their meal, so we rounded that out to 20 mins (with 2 warnings), and then the dinner disappears after that. Mean, aren't I?

That is so cute when you go out somewhere and they find a little temporary friend to play with. Arte sounds like it was a well deserved and very long overdue social outing (and I hope the start of many more).

Oz :clap: yay for progress! He'll get the hang of it soon enough. We praise E like crazy whenever she does one, so she'll very proudly tell everyone all about it LOL.

jM. glad your bro is out of hospital, I hope the professor dude came come up with some answers. I can imagine your brother is very indignant about people asking if it was self-inflicted, but in the absence of an explanation people will always be suspicious.

I"ve been trying to avoid paying too much attention to what's happened in Japan but it's seeping in around the edges of my consciousness. :(
