Girls I have been thinking about it more, I am just going to bring E with me in a sling. Expressing is too hard. I would rather just take her and feed her, its much easier.

MD - I know what you mean, because it is a priority to me at the moment too.

Ginger - I love that line of the baby controlling your life, not bf!! I will be using it thanks hehe.

Cass - I had the most delicious glass of red wine last weekend. Up until then I have been refusing all alcohol, but then I thought well I was having one here and there while pregnant, surely one while bfeeding wont hurt? And it didnt hehe. Mind you it was half a glass and filled with a tonne of ice!

Isa, that is what I would do. In 3 years of BF I have never ever expressed. I don't think I can, because I squeeze and nothing comes out. Perhaps I have a bad technique, but I did hand milk my cows for a few summers so I should be good at it!

thta's great isa. i have never expressed either, i just used to take them everywhere with me and explain that they were breastfed babies so we could not be seperated. simple as that. do you have a good sling to use?

Arte, I'm sitting here PMSL about your driest.topic.ever because that's pretty much become my paid job :o. Oh yes I was encouraged at the beginning to think outside the box and come up with somethign that has half a chance of actually engaging the clients, but it turns out (now that my entire supervisory chain has been replaced by a fresh batch of people) that NO they just want the boring old way AND to boot now require somethign I've been working on for 4 months (and had previously been approved for publication by all except the very top most level) to be conceptually rewritten in THREE working days :o. I had a very *not happy Jan* day at work last week (including a spot of crying in the toilets) made all the worse by my supervisor being so horribly NICE about it all. I'm hideously embarrassed by the entire FIASCO and trying to not let it affect my confidence in what I do and how well I'm doing it.

Coming slightly unhinged but trying desperately to be gracious, cool, and efficiently professional in the middle of it. Funny thing is my FDC lady is sick today so it will look like I'm having a protest sickkie when I'm not.

Thanks for the hug Cass, I think it has upset me because a) I was **** hot good in my previous job and here I'm a parttime nobody who now has a 4 month fiasco attached to my name (even though a month ago all indications said fiasco was going to be a shining achievement, before change of supervisors) and b) because writing that blog last year has opened the floodgates and I'm now going through that awkward phase of trying to work out whether my output is objectively good or whether I'm just painfully misguided in ever thinking I could be a writer (for real, instead of in my imagination).

I have done something to my pelvis. Around the back. I was lying in A's bed while she went to sleep and when I got up I could barely walk. Doesn't hurt if I am sitting, but I can't put any weight on my left leg. No pain as such but feels like it might just collapse out from under me! Hoping it is better by tomorrow!

Hey, does anyone know why all people are leaving BB? I am so out of the loop i dont get it...

MP, as best I can tell there has been leakage between BB and FB, there has been an outcry about the way the mods are modding, the discontent has been fomenting (love that word) in FB land & on other forums, some mods were stood down (Inanna and Spring Angel) over an unspecified "serious breach" (reading between the lines, I think someone might've shared private BB information elsewhere?) and they declared they were leaving BB, and a number of other people who were outraged over it (and/or the way it was handled) also left in a mass protest. Since then trouble has continued to brew and a few days ago Maz was banned for life (for ??), provoking another outcry. With a bit more trouble thrown in this week by someone posting someone's elses comments from FB here on BB.

IMO, all of this would have been avoided if people just paid the rudimentary courtesy of keeping each forum's business to that forum, I find it in appalling taste to ***** about happenings on one forum on another forum, kwim? Add to that people have not been protecting their anonymity with FB-BB-other forum leakage, and you know everyone wants to be right, don't they? And some people thrive on drama.

There seems to be an expectation when you come online that your subjective experience/opinion will be validated, I think that's what makes forum life so addictive, there is always someone there to agree with you, kwim? And so when people don't agree, for whatever reason, and you're expecting personal validation, suddenly it's a personal slight. And that's when it all gets so fraught, and the game playing begins.

Anyway, a whole group has left BB, presumably to take their tea party to another online venue (where presumably the mods mod differently or less, or it's the alternative venue where ppl go when they want to discuss BB's goings on?) and BB is going through the last burping unsettled stages of the purge.

That's the MD potted summary, I could have the wrong end of the stick totally. I have no idea which party is right or wrong or who has valid grievances or not, but there are a lot of upset people. Most of it the drama has taken place elsewhere on the net. At the end of the day I have my little Sept mummies thread family which is far too valuable to me to want to endanger it by getting involved in the drama.

i'm not leaving :) it's all cool, i'm perfectly happy with the way things run around here and with the way things have been handled. my 2c worth is that if you break the rules, well you gotta expect some consequences. that's my 2c and all i'm gonna say about it all :)
had soccer again today and L is absolutely loving it and totally blossoming. it's great to watch. his language has come along way too, particularly since he started at kinder.
so....i know it's been talked about in here before but my boys seem to be struggling with breakfast atm. they don't want to eat anything. any ideas?

Do they have milk in the morning? If they do cut that out and they might be more inclined to eat.... Other than that, i have started cutting up fresh fruit and yoghurt for them and they love it. I think they were bored of their cereal and fruit. So maybe offer something different?

i don't give them milk, they usually have a yoghurt but don't want anything else

I know people say breakfast is most important meal, but sometimes the girls don't want anything and then have morning tea. I'm fine with that. I go with the 'they'll eat if they're hungry'. A yoghurt for breaky is ok in my books.

Sas eats breaky pretty much all the time, but L will skip it somedays.

Do they eat much for the rest of the day?

I barely have the time to get onto the Sept thread, let alone the rest of the forum. So I have no idea whats going on, who is leaving, etc etc. :)

Ginger - I have also been giving M yoghurt for brekky one day, cheerios or weetbix the next. She likes to mix it up.

I have been wondering when to try M with no night time nappy. Is anyone elses kids out of the night time nappy? M still wakes with a soaking wet one....what do you do, just go cold turkey with it or wait a bit longer?

Just enrolled M in 'barbie ballet', she has been raving about ballet for weeks now. So thought we would give it a go. She is a real girly girl.

Poor E had her needles today, she has been unsettled and clingy. :(

Also I dont know what I am doing wrong, but my friggin nipples are sore again!!

Isa, we're still using a night time pull-up, mostly because the dry nights are a bit hit and miss. I kept DD1 in nappies until she was consistently dry. Kids get to night time dryness at varying stages, no hurry.

Miss E generally has two breakfasts, esp if she has picked over the first. First round is usually cereal, porridge, weetbix, bit hit and miss really (sometimes she eats it all and other times she just skims the top layer off), usually when she first gets up and I'm stumbling around half awake trying to make myself a cuppa. Second round is normally toast, crumpet, raisin bread, etc, usually a bit later when I'm having my breakfast. I've found this is far better than the constant whining for snacks that tends to happen when she only has one breakfast. Sometimes it depends on how distracted she is, so maybe experiment with putting the telly on or off (sometimes they mindlessly spoon more food in when the telly's on LOL).

Thanks all for your votes of confidence in my abilities. Just gotta find the faith in myself...

Well pancake tuesday has taken a turn for the worse. I popped up to the shops for maple syrup, and slipped over on some water leaking out of the icecream fridge, did a full blown slide and spill. Have twisted my ankle & hurt my knee (and suspect my shoulder will be sore from the jolt tomorrow too). Very ouchy but at least I can walk on it. I've had catastrophic sprains in the past needing crutches, so all that flew through my mind while I lay sprawled all over the tiles. I let fly with a few choice words at the Wendy's bimbos who stood around without rendering assistance even though it was their fridge that caused it. Maybe I'm getting old but I cannot stand girly girls doing all of female-kind a disservice by acting DUMB.

Far out MD! That's a bit too much excitement fit a Tuesday. I sprained my ankle on Sunday, so I'm hobbling around too. My story is no where near as good as yours though. I just ran and I shouldn't have! Clearly.

Isa- we are a way off dry nights here too. I have started talking to her about it though. She doesn't want to wear a nappy at night but she pees just about every time. So ive said if she can wake up with a dry nappy three nights in a row she doesn't have to wear one, and I'm encouraging her to call out to me in the night if she wants me to take her to the loo. I tried putting her on the toilet when we went to bed, but it made no difference so I just don't think she is ready.

In other news my bro has just been taken again by ambulance to hospital. No idea what's going on. Dad found him unconscious, but at least this time he is breathing. This ****ing de ja vu is crap.


Oh MD- I'm not entirely sure those girls are acting?!

JM, my first thought on waking this morning was whether you've heard how your brother is going. I hope the day brings news that he's stable, and that he's being attended to by some really great docs who will work out what's happening. xxx

No idea still MD. He has been admitted. At least he's not intubated or on life support this time. He's kind of semi-conscious this morning, they are monitoring closely, he's kind of boarderline for oxygen saturation. Once again we are waiting to find out if he perhaps did it intentionally, or something haywire is going on. Last time he had no toxicity in his system and it was put down to the Lithium. Not an overdose, just a bad drug reaction. He's not taking that anymore so who knows. Mum found an empty box of zyprexa (anti-depressant, bipolar med) in his room, but that's a med he takes, so it could have just been there and empty from normal circumstances. Also found two full weeks of his meds and a bottle of valium all untouched in his room, so surely if he was going to OD, he'd have taken them?! Who knows. I'm rearranging book cases until i hear about either blood results, or he is conscious enough to talk.

JM, :hug: I hope you hear some news soon. I am guessing they are no closer to finding a root cause of the seizure/coma condition?

MD and JM, sorry about the ankles. I don't think I will join that club.

G I keep meaning to ask how things were going on the TT front with L? We managed to get 2 small poo's on the toilet and nothing since, its starting to do my head in.

L has finally given up the day nap, he has half an hour reading/rest time in his room so I can have a break then it is mummy and L time where we play hungry hippos and all the other stuff we can't do with Z around lol. Work has been crazy but I am on top of it all now thank goodness. I have a couple of BB ladies booked in next month.

Ankle soreish today, not as bad as I thought it would be, shoulder/back is a real shocker though. It's the surgery side so one less muscle to absorb the fall, I suppose. Aaaah but the pancakes were soooo worth it LOL.

Oz, well I'd love to hear if anyone has a different take on the goings-on to me. :) Oz we had TT iss-ewes for a long time. E was hiding and pooping in her duds...the hiding indicated she was aware when it was happening, but didn't want to go to the toilet for whatever reason. We had her in training pants at that stage and DH would crack it every time she had an accident, so I said, right that's it, you're going back into pull-ups. As soon as we took the pressure off, and talked up the benefits of pooing in the toilet (no yuckky smell, your bottom feels so much nicer, etc) she took right off. She's had a couple of too-busy-playing accidents since but now pretty consistently identifying when she needs to go and going. FWIW they say it takes boys longer than girls (if their dads are anything to go by, males just don't have the same bumhole to brain connection, evidenced by all the couldn't-hold-it-in farting that goes on :lol:)

lmao MD, everyone tells me boys seem to take longer with the whole poo thing. I have tried everything I can think of. He had a slight case of the runs today and tonight needed to go so we took him to the toilet and he still managed to hold it. Z on the other hand was nappy-less this afternoon, as she so often is, and told me before she did a poo. It had just started leaking so grabbed a nappy, will start putting her on the toilet I think. Maybe L will go if he see's Z go lol.

Bugger about the shoulder, I hope it heals up quickly.

Isa - we're nowhere near ready for no night time nappy. It is always soaked in the mornings and only this year she's started consistently(say 5 nights a week) sleeping without coming in for a midnight visit, so I'm not about to go back down the path of getting her up in the middle of the night to go and sit on the toilet. I'm enjoying my sleep too much - although I need to work out how to sleep again.

MD - hope your shoulder and ankle feel better soon. I've done something to my back / shoulder blade and it keeps popping in and out. Very uncomfortable. Thanks for the summing up of all the dramas, I was also feeling totally out of the loop as I really only have time to check in with you guys and a quick scan of the recent posts.

JM - I ordered 1-2-3- Magic yesterday after your other post, so we'll see how that goes! Hope they work out what is happening with your brother soon.

Brekkie - we tend to just go with the flow, although it eventually happens each day. She might just want yogurt when she first gets up and then has some cereal a bit later. She has the option of a few different sorts of cereal and then she'll do yogurt or honey on top sometimes as well for a change. Apparently she'll often have another weetbix 30 minutes after getting to daycare too.

cally- lol about 30 weet-bix! i wish my boys would get weet-bix into them.

Thanks for all thinking of my bro. Still unconscious/semi conscious. Stirs occasionally, mumbles a bit and then passes out again. Tox screen all normal. No overdose. So no closer to finding out what the hell is going on. It has to be some funky kind of drug interaction as he passed all the epilepsy tests. I just wish they'd find out before it happens and no-one finds him.

Cally- funny you say that about the midnight waking. Ever since i woke Lulu to put her on the toilet she wakes at about that time now and comes into my bed. I don't mind but she kicks like a mule and i get a shocking nights sleep. DH has taking to going to her bed, so it's a bit better, but man she is a shocker to co-sleep with. She's also become really needy at bed time. I have to lie with her until she goes to sleep. If i talk to her about me just going to the next room where she can still see me tears well up and she says "But mummy, i just love you so much and want you to stay: :( How can i saw no to that?! I was going to try a sticker chart to see if i could get her to go to sleep by herself. Any other ideas welcome.

JM, are the Drs saying that it is another bad reaction to drugs? So the lithium caused a very atypical response, and then a few months down the track another drug with a different mode of action and different method of metabolism has caused the same crazy rare reaction? Doesn't add up for me, but obviously I am not a doctor. I seriously hope that they do discover what is causing it.

Ginger, re breakfast, have you tried the Old Skool trick of cutting toast differently? Shaped cookie cutters? W eats toast if it is cut into strips or 'dots'.

Oz, that must be very frustrating about the poo! What does he do when he is out? When A is nappy free she squats on the floor and says "wees", but if I put her near the potty she tilts forward and tries to do it standing - watching W in the toilet too much methinks!

Isa, I wouldn't worry about night time until she is dry in nappies/pull-ups at least most of the time. W was about 6-7 months after he was day trained before he was ready for night - and there were a few accidents in the first couple of months.

Oh I really like the toast cutting idea. Do I just use normal cookie cutters or are there special toast ones?

But yes I did get a leotard dress thing and some ballet flats and I did end up going to a dance shop, it wasnt too bad. I also found a near new leotard in the op shop today for only $4.

As for bribing, I spend most of my days having to bribe M :wall:

Btw I'm glad to see that we are not the only ones still working towards night time training, M insists on taking a bottle of water to bed each night (I often hear her guzzling it in her sleep) and therefore wakes with a sopping wet nappy
