I liked wandering Borders, but did find it pretty expensive. I think they also suffered from just having too much stuff that was unusual and not necessarily highly in demand. Our local Angus and Robertson is still going, it became independent. (Katie has just sold DH a Miffy book for $20 - maybe she had something to do with the collapse)

I don't think I ever bought much at Borders, I just like that they actually had stock to browse (which I could then buy online for half the price lol). I was looking in some book shops for kids science books and no one had anything at all - not even adult reference books. All the sales must be in biographies, new releases and magazines because the shops are pretty empty apart from that.
MD, fishpond I think is international, the other is mightyape. Depends what you order, some stuff is drop shipped from overseas and I have to wait for a couple of weeks but if it is in stock then it is really speedy.
Not much point in going postal on the phone. He will be back in a few days and anyway I don't really want to know what cool things he has been up to - just makes it more and more obvious how much I am missing out on. I hope he doesn't expect me to fake an interest in his photos, still too bitter to delight in his fortune lol

W seems to have caught it now. He threw up in bed last night so I let him in with me and this morning he got up, asked for a drink of water and then half an hour later he put himself back to bed.
Cally: i have to admit that the prize we got is suprisingly well-loved by the girls. i thought they might bore of it easily but they are played with all the time! gotta love free stuff lol.

did you get GD last pg? i guess while you wait to see if you can get the test done there's always the diet to follow...oh happy days lol. but if you do miss the boat with the test, i guess your midwife etc will just watch you and bubs closely over the coming weeks and during the immediate post birth moments (which they should be doing anyway...).
AFM: really struggling with the surge of "mean girl" games that L is playing . she is either a bully or a little toad ATM. i feel (and am) mean for saying it I know, but far out it is just so exasperating. she is calling people names, dobbing like it's going out of fashion, or not "letting" some people play with the whole group. really mean stuff. it is so ugly and mean
Cass, the 'mean girl' phase sound yucky! Not sure what to do about that. W has tried a couple of times within my earshot to tell kids they can't play but I tell him he is being rude and remind him he doesn't like it when kids won't let him play.
I had GD with W but not with A. But I am heavier this time and I keep drinking Coke which is probably not going to help. I just want the sticks for the machine to monitor for a bit because I find the drink really hard to get down and keep down. I think if I did have higher levels I will just adjust diet and keep quiet - as long as bub feeds asap after birth it isn't an issue anyway and it would mean having to go to the hospital 1.5 hours away (driving myself).
cass- my friend's dd has been pretty mean lately and he even pushed a little girl at kinder the other day and said 'i don't want to be your friend anymore'! so i think it's quite common for the age. don't know what to do about it though just be thankful you're not going through what another friend is with her ds- he calls everyone a 'sexy lady' and says 'i have a big doodle' all the time LOL

Is 40 degrees a temperature? Do I just give panadol and keep up fluids for him? Poor kid has been lying on the couch all day drifting in and out of sleep.
Thank goodness my bro is here and watched A for a bit so I could have a nap or I wouldn't have made it through the day! Hopefully I am feeling better tomorrow because they are leaving in the morning.
Arte, anything over 37ish is a temp, 40 is quite a high temp. I would definitely be keeping up the panadol or nurofen, lots of drinks, a facewasher wash with warm water can help too. I'm wondering with your bad cough if it might be whooping cough? Might be a good idea to go to the Dr to get him checked in the am.

We went to a friends house for pizza night last night and the kids all played and ran around. Was great fun! L has become obsessed with mighty beans. Anyone else's kids into them?
The Rockstar is still a Rockstar and ended up going to bed at midnight! Thinking of trying to get dh to come to the movies to cars 2 today. We'll see how I go!
Ginger sounds like a wonderful night! DD1 has a stash of mighty beans but she's very precious about sharing, so E hasn't had much of a chance to check them out. She has a "trick track" it's pretty cool. Last time we were at Big W together, DD1 bought this surprise egg thing with mighty beans and E got this other little animal thing (party animal?) which is a tiny little doll with a rubbery bunny suit. OMG she *loves* that thing. Also, DD1 let her play with her Pet Shop animals last weekend, and she played with them for about 5 hours straight over 2 days. So I'm thinking small things will be the winner for her birthday this year!

W seems fine today. He is off for a third nap but doesn't have a temp. A is getting sick and is clinging to me constantly. I feel like death. My brother went home this morning (after he and his girlfriend did my washing, dishes and vacuuming - bless them!). I just have to get through until tuesday afternoon when DH gets back.
We are out of milk so I have to get us all dressed and haul us down to the shop
Arte, man you've had a rough time of it I hope that A doesn't get any sicker and that you can somehow manage to get through till Tuesday. Mighty beans are these little plastic capsule looking things - they really look just like a gigantic panadol capsule LOL. And they have character faces on them. Plus they are weighted so they move around.
G, A loves them, but I think they are a huge PITA because he puts the few that we have in his pockets and then they fall out so it's a major drama trying to find them all for him. The ones we have belong to the other kids and I wont be buying new ones because I can't quite work out whats the point of them LOL.
MD, my girls love their littlest petshop stuff too. I confiscated all the barbie stuff ages ago but let them keep that stuff as it seems to make less mess through the house.
Speaking of birthdays I have no idea what to get A. I was tempted to get him a leapster, but not I'm not sure again. They really don't need any more toys so I'm at a total loss. Holidays started here on Friday too and I'm so glad! I need a sleep in LOL. And the kids were at the point where they were just tired all the time so they were ready for the break too. We are all tired today - had football yesterday so we were out of the house just after 8am, then we went back to the RSL club for dinner (the club is the major footy sponsor so we all go back there after) and it was 1030 by the time we got home! I was knackered. I'm just about to make all the kids go and have a sleep because they have been at each other all day and I'm still tired even though they all slept till just after 8am.

Can't remember if I mentioned that DH got held up with a police issue at school last week. Anyway while they were chatting (turns out the policeman went to school with DH), the policeman mentioned that he was going to be out our way later because there is an old lady that is a complete kleptomaniac. She just wanders our area, trying every door in a house until she gets in somewhere. She has even gone in to places while there are other people there! Anyway since then, I swear I've heard footsteps on the back deck in the middle of the night and at 1:00 last night I got woken up by the bedroom window rattling like someone was shaking it!! Doesn't help that DH has been sleeping somewhere else because I needed an earplug break. Might let him sleep with me tonight and hopefully I don't hear anything.
DD is so excited about her trip to Sydney. This morning she made this big pile of stuff by the front door to take up.

One of the carers at school mentioned that this was a really bad age for 'meanness'. You're not my friend, refusing to play with some kids etc. We even get it at home, if we do something she doesn't like we get the 'you're not my friend'.
Noah went through saying 'you're not my friend' a few months back - awful. he seems to be over it now and is a real goody 2 shoes sayong things like 'that hurts my feelings' or 'thats not how we play' when someone is nasty (even to others). i am actually glad he is learning these things - he seems to be good at walking away when someone is mean or not engaging in the mean-ness (big tick to the kinder teachers!). that said i recently heard that a few of them at kinder have a game where they 'run away' from one of the other boys all the time... nasty (poor little guy, and it is one of my friends sons who i have tried so hard to get Noah to be friends with!). so we are dealing w that at the moment. its so amazing seeing how they are with their 'independent' friends - like when we have kinder ppl over... we were at a families house on sat eve and he and the other boy were amazing together... he is building some gorgeous friendships! he is at school holiday programme today - much excitement over the lunch box!

We had j's party yesterday - was really succesful and loads of fun! we eneded uyp with about 28 or so kiddies and about the same adults... the boys had a blast (and then Noah went on to another party!!) - we were all knackered last night! then the boys were up all night with coughs and i thi9nk J was overstimulated! it was funny seeing him at the party, think he was a bit freaked out by everyone he knew being in one place!!
Had a bit of a mixed weekend though - one of my best friends lost her bub on saturday (at 34 weeks). i have been crying mopst of the weekend, its just awful. that is 2 people i know with this in the last 6 months (aside of course from the ppl on BB too). Its all so close to home and i am just devestated, and this being a v close friend makes it even harder. then another friend came over yest (who we havent seen for a while) and said his son has been diagnosed on the autism spectrum. its a weird variation where he developed really 'normally' - even advanced and then totally regressed. i havent seen him for about 6 months (the boy not the parents) and it was abig shock. he wasnt speaking, staring blankly at lights etc. i feel like a lucky lucky person (and i even felty lucky as i went from N to J and back again ALL NIGHT LONG).
mp i'm really sorry to hear that xo sometimes i honestly feel like i am the luckiest mumma in the world with my 2 boys xo
the rockstar rolled out of bed at the normal time with his hair all over the place and then slept all arvo. i'm trying to get him back into early nights but he is just such a night owl! loves a late night and a sleep in. most mornings i have to wake him up to get him out of the house.
cars 2 was a bit of a fail and tbh i would wait for the dvd. L sat through it happily but it had no storyline and was very advanced. i had a lot of trouble following it. J lost interest and ended up just sitting in the ailse playing with the toy car we got free with the popcorn combo LOL
