I had a dream last night i had a little tiny baby in my shopping trolley (?) but when I woke up this morning I wondered whether this was heralding any new tiny bubba news from our little Sept bubs family. Anyone got any news they need to share...?
Isa - wow Bali sounds divine, fully understand if you're feeling bored in the crap weather aftermath. How are you finding the open uni thing? Is E feeding again ok now?
Arte, sorry I didn't answer your question earlier - training wasn't really in my job description but there again neither was anything else I do LOL. They tend to hire you and then work out what jobs you can do from there. Well done getting bubby's room all ready, it's amazing how tiny their things look once you've got bigger kids LOL.

Arte - have you had her tonsils checked? DS2 has big tonsils and the dr thought this could be affecting his sleep (sneep apnoea) - maybe that causes the wake ups? I think a look over by the dr would be good. I think with terrors they recommend that you track them as they usually happen at the same time (due to sleep cycles) and you then wake them just before (15 mins before) and resettle them, it stops them happening. They then break that cycle. my friend did it, took about 5 nights. I am not sure how much truth there is in that. i agree with cally though, she has never been a good sleeper, so i wouldnt think it is that necessarily. I feel for you hon, i wish i had some advice. I struggle bc i have had 4 yrs of broken sleep - but at least its only been one shocking kid at a time!
Isa - jealous of Bali!!!!! What did you get up to? how much longer have you got at uni?
We arent off to Hawaii til 5th sept... it is a bummer re currency, though we loaded up a USD credit card a while back and paid for all accom so that makes it better!

Cally, how is your dad going now? As MD said, you can always change your mind about another bub further down the track. I can see the beauty of having just the one, especially as they get bigger.
MP, at least I don't have to work - you are amazing to cram everything in! I honestly think the problem with A's sleep is W. Every time we get A going alright, W has a massive tantrum and wakes her up every 5 minutes until she won't resettle at all and then we are back to the start. I have had her resettling well for 3 nights in a row with no crying and then as soon as W started up last night she was awake and straight away screaming hysterically.
MD, no baby news here. A month is suddenly seeming like a very long time!
W is obviously feeling anxious about the impending baby, he is now waking at least twice at night with a helping of 4am starts and night tantrums thrown in for fun.
Off to the hospital for A's hearing check tomorrow but not really expecting it to show anything abnormal. Stocked up on bribe lollies and will take DH's iPod in the hopes that W will stay quiet for the appointment.

Arte - Dad seems to be A OK. Still having 4 monthly check ups, but there doesn't seem to be any ongoing concerns. Good luck with the hearing test tomorrow.

Cass, I just realized last night - is Marta nearly 1 year old??!! Surely not! I keep thinking of her as a little baby!
Went to the city for A's hearing test. Waste of time, she wouldn't let the lady put anything in her ears and cried the whole time so none the wiser.
It is supposed to snow here tomorrow through to Wednesday - apparently it is the perfect storm and is meant to snow from the South Island all the way to the Bay of Plenty. Some combo of 3 different weather systems converging and 'they' say it going to be a massive dump. Feel sorry for the new little lambs, they are going to take a massive loss. Trill, do you have lambs yet?

that is really sucky about the hearing test. i would of thought that they had all kinds of tricks up their sleeves to get the kidlets to cooperate. what have they advised regarding further testing?
i'm sorry to hear that W is anxious about the new baby. is there any particular fear/concern that he has?
AFM: all good here for the most part. However Marta did manage to clock me one and now i have a black eye thanks to her over zealous hair brushing (yes, i know, i let her hold a massive hairbrush...my fault really lol). it seriously hurt! i was on the floor bellowing like a cow hahahahaha! worse than childbirth getting smacked in the head by your 11 month old :lol:
Busily getting the girls' party organised. getting a celebrant and doing a butterfly release for Marta's naming ceremony that will be part of it. i am doing the ballerina cake for Leila (the AWW 1980s one with stage and all!). and marta will have a fairy toadstool cake. yep, two cakes, egad. Arte hats off my dear that you will have 3 to do!
i am just :pray: for nice weather as our house is teeny inside and there will be truckloads of ppl (think the kinda space of the terraces in "the block" inside). luckily we have a decent enough backyard to host, but yeah, it does hinge on the weather being kind to us.

The hearing people are going to contact me on one of their infrequent trips to the area so I won't have to travel again. She is picking up words now anyway and I am not that worried about her hearing. I just want to sort the sleep thing out!
I hadn't thought of doing three cakes! Far out! I don't even like cake! What are we going to do with it all?! This year I am sticking with the printed icing that you shove on top. I should be able to find some time to make the cakes because I will do mud cakes (a white and a brown) and it likes to sit for a few days anyway.
W is just anxious about everything lol. He stressed out for weeks when we were talking of putting bunks in his room (top bunk with storage/cubby underneath), and even more when we were going to shift him down a bedroom to make room for the baby. In the end he was getting so upset about the thought of moving rooms that I just left him where he was and converted the office for the baby. It is a bit small in there and I can't fit the stuff very well but babies don't need that much room anyway. I mentioned him being there when the baby is born but he got that freaked out look in his eyes so I backed off and we will just play it as it comes on the day. He is looking forward to the baby, I don't think it is conscious stress iykwim. I am hoping like hell that A is just over clingy because of the baby too and that she might go back to her previous crappy sleeping which was a hell of a lot better than what we have atm!
Bummer about the hairbrush black eye! I fell over a few weeks ago and grazed my knees - bawled like a little kid! It really frigging hurt!

not much going on here - dh is knocking down walls and plastering, L and i are baking pink cupcakes, J is watching Thomas.
great news is that dh got offered a full time job with a big company and has decided to take it. it will mean less $ and some travel here and there, but it is a consistent income and he will always have work. there were over 90 applicants for the job- so proud of him, he's really happy :) we think its a wise move with the way the economy is heading.

Ginger - that's great news about DH's job, will be nice to know for sure there is money coming in.
Arte - yeah 3 cakes!! Mud cakes freeze well too. Shame about the hearing test, hope you have more luck next time.
Cass - ouchy black eye! We had a stage a few months ago where K managed to knee DH a number of times. She was banished from his lap for a while.
Our down doona recently fell apart - it was 14 years old. I pulled it out of the doona cover this morning to put a new one in and K had a lovely time playing in the 'snow' outside! A lot warmer than it will be at your place this week though Arte!!
We checked out bikes today - saw a nice purple one for K that we are going to pick up tomorrow. Hopefully she will have fun and we'll be able to get some decent walks in this summer while she rides her bike.

G: party is going to be on the 10th. (so leila has to wait...impatiently lol). i will definitely take pics! Marta will be wearing a silk christening gown at the beginning as we are doing her naming ceremony and then after that i am putting her in her dark blue oobi tutu. Leila will be wearing (one) of her ballerina costumes (as she tells me lol). i think it will be quite the event in the end lol. loads of tulle, glitter and sugary goodness hahaha.
Cally: oh we are on the same wavelength...i want to get L a big girl bike but am not entirely sure that it is wise considering we are moving OS in January :think:. have to say that this whole move to LA is doing my head in, i want to get the girls lovely pressies, but the thought of putting them all away for a year just seems a bit of a waste IYKWIM...because by the time we get back, they might be too old for them ITMS...or am i overthinking this one too much lol.
Arte: had to giggle at the wish she would go back to being a crappy sleeper. oh gawd it must be awful for you guys ATM :comfort:
AFM: well, i am sick sick sick! came over me yesterday afternoon; raging temps, sore throat and aching limbs and neck and back. i am in the wars and not loving it.

Ginger, that is great about DH's job - he must be feeling good to get it with that many people applying. Will be nice to have a steady pay packet - self employed is good when the going is good, but must be very stressful when the jobs drop off. DH's dad is a builder and there was a patch last year when he had only a few small jobs ahead of him, had to lay off his workers etc. Hard when you have a mortgage to pay.
Cally, W was just about surgically attached to his bike when he got it last summer - we were going on 3-4 hour long bike rides every day for a while there, it was awesome.
Cass, I think it is sensible to be thinking about the overseas year and presents. You could get L a bike though and if she is too big when you get back....then M has a bike! We are going for a sets of things we can add to over time rather than random bits, so A is now collecting Schleich animals. Might be a bit old for her this year but we will add more animals every birthday and xmas until there is a good collection. I got a bulk set of horses, jeep and trailer off trademe for starters. W is getting a train table set. He has a small set of trains that he isn't that into but I thought the table would be good for future construction toys/lego and he can do it in his room where the little kids can't break everything. DH is about to make a spreadsheet of all the construction toys so we can pick a suitable one and start collecting for him at xmas.

Not much happening here. The 'perfect storm' has so far amounted to about 3 minutes of sleet and some drizzle. Will see if we wake up to snow in the morning.

thanks for all the congrats on the job. we are really thrilled. its less money, so i guess that might be hard at first. lucky I've just bought a whole heap of country road size 5 clothes for summer! LOL
arte- we have a Thomas train table and i have to say it is without a doubt the best 'kids' purchase we have made. it gets used constantly. whenever we have friends over they all gather around and play. great investment! yes i think a lot of builders would be in trouble at the moment. dh's phone used to ring non stop with jobs but lately there has really been nothing.
cass- hopefully the weather is ok by then. I'm loving the oobi tutu, great choice! with the bike thing- we have laybyed one from target for L (the 40cm cars 2 one, in case you are interested) I'm sure there was an equivalent girls one available and they really aren't exxy at all. might be worth getting and then leaving here for M? idk....what are you doing with your house/stuff while you are away? were you serious when you said you would move up my way when you get back? geez i reckon you would love it, and the kids too!
cally - the bike is a great idea. we have 2 going at the moment but they are getting too small so have 2 more on lay-by.
and the big news is......L is finally consistently pooing on the toilet!!!! better late than never hey? it took forever but we are finally here! yah!!! dh took him to the toy shop and bought him an omnitrex watch their morning as his reward :)

Cass - not sure what to do with the bikes. As Ginger said they aren't that pricey and if it is too big when you get back then it will be right for Marta. Might be a good birthday for some little presents, but then don't use up all your ideas before Christmas!!
DH bought the bike this morning. I was thinking it was going to be her big pressie and not much else, but it really wasn't that expensive so I might have to come up with some more ideas!
Cass - bummer about being sick. Touch wood we have got through this winter very lightly.

busy busy busy busy has become the mantra of my life LOL.
This week was better though and I didn't seem overwhelmed like I was in the first week. It's all becoming second nature now and it will be hard to leave. But it is just great. I'm absolutely loving it still and can' believe I am halfway though prac already! Juggling home is getting easier too which is good. My hat goes off to MP though!
I haven't even thought about A's birthday yet, but I think we will have a BBQ on the SUnday with friends. It should be lovely weather by then. I ended up getting him a leapster 2 and 3 games in the target toy sale for $120 which I thought was alright. Even if it doesnt last all that long it should be fine.

I got a Human Body book last week which we have been reading for bedtime story and of course tonight I got lumped with the stupid reproduction page! Should have ripped it out lol. Anyhow, I ploughed on through, I figure it is better that it is all as normal to him as the other body systems.

Ginger - Congrats to your DH on the new job. Definately sounds like a wise move. Lots of people in business are in the same boat at the moment unfortunately. Glad you got one last big spend up in at country road. Have you seen Oobi's summer range though? To die for!

Cass - Is L doing dancing? I just whipped out the old aww cake book, the ballerina cake looks beautiful. M has requested the 'good witch'. It is fun making their bday cakes. Good luck to you this year with 2! And the butterfly release sounds beautiful. Ouch that hairbrush to the eye sounds painful!
MP - You may be jealous of Bali, but I am equally jealous of your trip to Hawaii! Wow, lucky you, that will be fantastic! I have ages to go at uni....but I have plenty of time :)
Trill - Glad that you are powering through your prac, well done
E is still barely breastfeeding and getting grumpy when its offered to her. Yet she is chowing down her solids. I gave in over the weekend and bought formula and new bottles, thinking maybe she has just had enough of breastfeeding. But she wouldnt take the bottle either, just screws up her face. So I will just keep going with getting in some breastfeeds where I can and hopefully that will be enough to satisfy her milk requirements. She is the total opposite to M, who was not as keen on solids but loved her milk.
As for bday parties, I am still deciding whether to do anything for M this year....I am just wondering if she really needs an all out party every year. I may just invite mums group over to cut the cake and sing happy bday.
