First day back at kindy today. The weather today was fantastic and W and DH have been building a new fence in the back yard and tidying up out there so it is nice to sit out and enjoy the sunshine now. They even made a chicken coop over the holidays - just need to get some chickens for it now.

I feel like I am looking a gift horse in the mouth, but how much are babies supposed to sleep? E seems to sleep all day! Not that I am complaining, I am just wondering if it is normal for a but to sleep this much. She is generally only awake for 1-2 hours at a time about 4 times a day. She has a few smaller wake ups for half an hour or less when she basically just has a feed and goes back to sleep. Over night she is waking once around 3am and comes into bed with me for the rest of the night. She hardly plays with me at all But when she does she is adorable
AND I can put her into her bed sleepy but awake and she closes her eyes and goes to sleep!!! That never ever happened with the others! I am starting to think they were just sleep duds, cos I am doing the same things and E just sleeps.

P and A were both like that Arte. From the moment they were born they were fantastic sleepers and would both sleep for hours as newborns. But once A's reflux started it all went to custard though LOL. I think that you just got lucky this time and got a baby who sleeps and TBH, even if she only slept half as much as she does now it would still seem odd to you because the others were shockers.

MD, it's a bit like that here too - only one assignment left to do which is due next monday and then 1 exam the following Wednesday so it feels like I have finished already.

Not much happening here really. I have been trying to study for my maths exam and its just not happening. I can't get it to sink in. Its not the type of exam where you just do maths problems, we have to talk about strategies for teaching and all that! It makes it so much harder to study for.

Trill, that sounds like a difficult exam to study for. Bet you are looking forward to a summer off! How did your lambing go this year?

I am amazed every day that E is still sleeping - I am always waiting for it to be ripped away from me lol. She is so, so different to what the other two were like. Cass, it is bliss!

Lambing was good. We had an estimated 135% at scanning, but by the time we marked them it was back down to only 115% which isn't too bad. It just means the foxes got their fair share of them unfortunately. We have more due to lamb by the end of next month as well.

I had a look on our Uni forums today and the maths lecturers have done up a 'what to study and where to find it' list LOL. I guess they got sick of people whinging about not knowing what to study.

I don't think that her sleeping will change too much, of course she will go through wonder weeks where it might get a bit hairy for a while, but it will settle. A only got bad because of the reflux - once that settled he was fine again. Even though P and A were fantastic sleepers, L and E were pretty good too compared to some and I think I always took that for granted a bit. I reckon had I gotten ones as bad as you did Arte I would have run away and joined the circus LOL

Ginger! Yay for the gym/creche thing working for you! I sooooo need to do something. DH changed the battery int he bathroom scales and I'm suddenly several kilos heavier than I thought it was .

ETA - Trill yay for hte list- that will make the next few days soooo much easier.

H was a fantastic sleeper, pretty much always. E not so much. I still don't know how you did it Arte.

Trill I'm a pageant fan anytime the weather is below 30. Actually this morning had me dreaming about my lifelong ambition to be IN the pageant lol. One day...

In the meantime my family life is being held to ransom by DHs job, apparently he'll be away for a couple of weeks but no one will say when. ****ers.

Arte - she sounds like a perfect sleeper to me! Who knows, she may still be having the occassional nap at 4 like we get!!

G: great to hear from you sweets! ahhh i dream of doing exercise....then i go and look in the pantry for some chocolate because i know that i am too weak to do it

Arte: yeah i agree with Trill on this one. other than the wonder weeks, she'll be good as gold i reckon. at least that is what i found with Leila (even now she is awesome at sleep and all the getting ready for bed).

AFM: well MIL is on her way home! it was tough, but the last 3 days were alot better. i guess she realised that she was really going home and relaxed a wee bit. i wish that it could of been different, but it wasnt . hopefully she will be much better when we are there next year

Marta is now pretty much walking full time now . i cannot believe it! she is getting big!!!!!!!
Leila is still sporting a rather interesting hairdo after the fiasco with scissors and three 4 year olds playing 'hairdressers' .
I had a very interesting meeting with the UN lady...it seems that there will be some good work coming up in the new year. now the guessing game of when and how it will come to fruition...all before i leave for LA....if it can come up with something solid before we go it would be better i guess, but then again, email is always on the go and i can always come back early if necessary. the work is worth it!

G, glad you are finding time to do something for you How are the boys at the creche? Did you find one that didn't have the door by the pool?

MD, sucks enough that your DH has to go away for a couple of week, let alone the randomness of it. That would p!ss me off big time! Did anything happen about his job after that thing a while back when he got called away with no notice?

Cass, Bummer about the hairdressers! There is a little girl at W's kindy who is absolutely beautiful - kid model material - and she used to have the most gorgeous ringlet curls, then she gave herself a haircut
Glad your MIL has gone. Hope you won't be living too close to her when you are in Italy next year. I remember you had an apple throwing incident one time you were over there - was that because of her?
The UN job sounds exciting!

yes i am driving a bit further to the gym but this one has double security doors and you need a code to enter. it is really well equipped with an outdoor area/sandpit etc. so the boys love it. the carer said to me yesterday that J is very strong willed and defiant though! oops!!!

anyway, sorry for no personals, life is a bit hectic atm will pop back when i have more time xo

Nothing wrong with strong-willed - it becomes a character strength later in life. No ooops to it!!

Missy E had a bodgey haircut last time - they cut all her curls off (!!) Last time I send DH up to the salon with her. It's crooked and sad at the moment but I'm leaving it a bit to grow out so they've got something to work with next time.'

Arte you've got a good memory! I don't recall the fruit-flinging incident in question, though I fully understand how a MIL/mother could induce that state of mind LOL. BTW nothing happened with DH's job after the last time, someone got a (mild) butt-whoopin, but it's business as usual while I go sllooooooooowly insane.

Trill your cookies etc look fantastic on fB, you have been busy (...or is this just study procrastination LOL)?

E seems to be going through a really CLUMSY phase. Shockingly. Given how number she's been, she's running into things and tripping over several times a day. Is this normal when they're having a growth spurt or should I be worried?

Arte, I remember that, only it was at her BIL LOL!

MD, I reckon it's normal. A has gone through a really clumsy stage too and often has days where he trips over all the time. The only other thing it could be is if she has a build up of fluid or something in her ears and its mucking around with her equillibrium.

The baking isn't study procrastination - the school fete is on tomorrow and E's class is having a biscuit and slice stall. I have spent the entire day baking! I'm buggered!

I only remember because I found it hard to imagine our mild mannered Clare turning into a screaming, apple wielding banshee lol

G, that new gym sounds loads better. Agree with MD, some of these character traits that are a pain in our arses now are great assets for them when they are older. Strong willed and defiant becomes confident and leader with time and your guidance xx

Trill, I agree that those cookies look fantastic! I would love to make some but I am sugar free atm for Erin - gives her reflux if I eat much of it and I know that I can't stop at just one biscuit lol.

MD, A has gone super clutz lately. Poor kid is always falling over - her knees are a solid patch of scab.

We are going away for the weekend to show off Erin to my family. Looking forward to getting away from the house for a few days and seeing everyone.

unfortunately they will be living only 10kms away...fortunately, in italian-speak that is a gargantuan distance

MD: ohhh yeah! it seems that all of a sudden leila has shot up in height and is now falling over left, right and centre, unable to get used to the new centre of gravity lol.

G: i agree with the others, they might be hard work right now, but they are going to grow into super-human awesome men that have grown up surrounded by love! i love seeing their pics on FB as they are so confident and happy little chappies!

AFM: had a day out with Marta in the city. didnt even buy anything too outrageous i am getting soft in my old age. but we did have a lovely and slightly expensive lunch together (yummy gorgonzla, truffle and potato tortellini...mmm mm mmmm!!). i could feel my thighs expand as i ate
