Cass, no special exercises yet - was only a 20 minute assessment though. Have a longer appointment next week. I am hoping it is just massage and I don't have to do anything lol

There are a crazy amount of huge babies in this thread!

Ella, I forgot to say congratulations! I keep reading when I have my hands full, replying in my head and then by the time I post I can't remember if I have said it or not. Thankfully neither of my big kids are interested in picking up the baby. W wants to hold her all the time but they don't try to move her anywhere. So far it is hugs and kisses :)

G: that is great news re the appt! if it is like in my case he can probably get L in the following week lol.

i too, cannot believe how the time has gone and that our 'babies' are now on the threshold of true 'childhood'. i remember being 4 like it were yesterday and that also freaks me out :lol:
the other day DH was carrying L and i looked over and saw her hands and her feet (it was a rare, warm day lol) and my goodness...they were not the hands of a little toddler, they were the hands of a child ITMS. very grounding.

oh cass i forgot to say, the appointment i have is with the surgeon that my friend recommended but if i am no happy after tuesday i will be calling your guy. so thanks for the info :)

I was thinking about how much W has grown when we were at kindy the other day. He was so little when he started, he looked so tiny compared to the big kids - can't believe he is the big kid now!
The other day I asked DH to get some towels in off the washing line and while he was getting A ready to go out, W went ahead and got the whole lot in without anyone asking - he was at the door with a big armload of washing when DH went to go out. He is such a thoughtful and sweet kid now - I honestly would not have picked it 1.5 years ago when he was a tantruming mess.

Arte - wow, he got the washing in!! That is so good. I am amazed at how helpful K can be sometimes, shame it's all going to go to pot once she becomes useful.

Ginger - good luck on Tuesday

We get heaps of cranky wakeups, I hate them. Usually naps, not so much in the mornings.

Cass - wow, tickets in the hand, that makes it so real.

Bonus family Sunday for us, representative cricket has been washed out. YAY!

YAY for crappy weather Cally! LOL. So do you have any plans for this unexpected family day?

I was having a look through the baby buddy forum and do you all realise that we are the ONLY group still going strong for this long? Even groups who are only 2-3 years old have all gone or they are still only in single digit thread numbers LOL. I don't know if that's because a lot of people shift all their groups to FB or not, but I reckon it's because we've all gotten along so well with each other.

A has been an eating machine lately and I noticed that his pants were getting a bit snug on him so I weighed him and he's up to 19kg!!! I can't believe it! I know he's gotten a bit taller lately but I didn't realise he'd put on so much weight too.

Arte, I know what you mean about how big they get at kindy. You wait till he starts school - kindy kids look soooo tiny compared to the other kids but by the end of that first year they have grown up so much! It is really cute to see when they first start and their uniforms are all oversized and baggy and their backpacks are nearly as big as they are :lol:

Trill - we've been out for brekky and am going to head out to the zoo shortly to feed the giraffes. They had a new baby there about a month ago and DH went with K during the week, but it was asleep in the corner so hopefully we see some awake time.

K weighed herself this morning and she is still just under 16kg.

What happens Sept next year? Will they let us keep going if we ask?

I hope they let us keep going! I think because there are so few groups that keep going I don't think they will mind us keeping it. I hope the baby giraffe is awake today! They are so cute!

OMG baby giraffes? That would be awesome...I do love giraffes, amazing creatures.

Well girls, I'm horrified at the thought that "they" might shut us down????!!!! Is it because they ain't babies anymore? We're the life of hte party around here...

Would love to do personals but I am highly distracted on account of this three-part assignment I'm working on...procrastinatoring my @ss off right now. Can't wait for it to be finished!! I developed a very nasty m&m dependency to get the last one done and this time the assorted mixed lollies just aren't cutting it. LOL

The baby giraffe (7 weeks) was awake and K got to feed its mum and big sister. Will put some photos up later.

MD, I'm the same - I have two due by the 24th and 29th of this month and I am spending far too much time on forums and not enough time on assignments LOL. If I can't find the will power to stay off I'm having another ban put on LOL.

I am sure if we all begged then they wouldn't shut us down. My Sept 09 thread only gets used every few months now and even my Sept 11 thread is hardly getting used - it is amazing how long we have been chatting now! When I was looking at old threads a few weeks ago, we were getting a new thread every few days for a while (back when they were shorter threads.

Trill, I love watching the new entrants at school! They are just so little! Kindy is usually invited to the school powhiri at the start of every term, so we can farewell/support the children going off to big school.

Trill, there's this fabulous software you can get called anti-social - it blocks you from any social websites you want it to for a set length of time - measured in active hours of computer use. So I could, in theory, ban myself for a few hours/days. But we've got terrible mobile internet at the moment - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

my Sept 10 group always limped along :(...so happy that i have you girls!!!! it has really meant alot to share these experiences with you all!

Trill: oh to be sure! i was sooooo so suprised at how BIG the preps and year 1s looked when we went on the school tour the other week :o. i was like: "whaatt? my little L will be that big one day??!"

G: i have everything crossed for the appt for L :crossfingers:. i dont see what obstacles there would be TBH :dunno:

Cally, the baby giraffe would have been cool! We fed the giraffes at Wellington Zoo, but TBH it was the crappiest zoo ever and the kids don't remember it at all - and W remembers some things from before he was two.

MD, mmmmm M & M's. W holds them upside down and calls them W & W's :)

Today W went and played at someone else's house. He has never done that before without me. He saw the kids from down the street playing and joined them and then went back to their house. He brought himself home when he was finished playing. Such a big boy now.
ETA, Just so I don't sound too negligent - he was only two houses away and I could see him over the fence, and he came home through the vacant back section that links our houses :)

Arte - of course we weren't thinking that! I was thinking 'how cool that there are kids just down the road to play with!' (all the kids that seem to be near us are upper primary or high school)

On a side note, I have a weird sore mouth. It's been funny for a few days and I put it down to a likely cold (DH has one). But I now seem to have some red raw bits and blisters. Combined with the massive burn blister I gave myself on my hand at dinner, I'm feeling a bit blergh. Might be heading off to the chemist tomorrow for some advice.

my Sept 2011 Belly Buddies group had more or less fizzled out before our babies were even born!!! (well, especially compared to how active our group was back in the Sept 07 Belly Buddies)
i couldn't believe it when i re-found this group a few months ago - and even more surprised to find out that most of the girls here had been part of my original Belly Buddies group (although a few of you were sneaky and changed your usernames, so i had to do some detective work to find out who you REALLY were - ha ha!!).

cally - sorry to hear about your raw and blistered mouth - i hope it improves overnight, and if not, that the chemist can give you something that helps!

arte - gosh, what a big boy you have!! when i lived in melbourne Abi used to go and play with 2 girls that lived down the street. she was only 2, but the other girls were 7 and 9 and used to come and pick her up and then walk back to the 7 yr old's house to play (3 houses down the road). they thought she was so funny and cute, and she loved all the attention that she got!! i'm hoping that there are some similar-aged kids to mine in the street where we're building our new house. i haven't seen too many prams littering the verandahs though, so think i will have to hope for the existing neighbours to sell and new young families to buy into the street!!

afm - life with 3 kids is going as well as could be expected. Christopher is a good little boy, although he does spend an inordinate amount of time hanging off me guzzling milk... i don't mind too much though, because he's most likely to be my last baby (boo hoo!!), so i'm just trying to enjoy all the baby moments that i won't get to experience again...
i did my first un-aided school pick-up on Thurs (abi goes to a montessori school from 9am-3pm 3 days per week), and by the time i got the 2 young ones out of the car, went into school, herded the 2 older ones back out again after playing 'chasey', got them all back in the car (abi ran onto the road and owen ran off down the street while i was trying to get the capsule in the car), drove home with owen pinching abi and abi poking and prodding christopher, got them all out of the car again and inside the house, i was well and truly in need of a stiff drink!! of course i didn't have anything cold, but made sure i had some bubbles on ice for after the next pick-up on friday arvo!!

Cally, that sounds sore :( Hope you can get something to clear it up quickly.

Ella, the pick up sounds like hard work! I have been doing the kindy run since E was 3 days old - it is a bit of an ordeal to get them all packed and unpacked in the car! But I am really glad I got the capsule that has a base this time rather than the one I had last time that had to be strapped in every time. So much easier. And my kids aren't runners which is great - they just stand nicely (ok, so at least one of them is usually whinging something lol) until it is their turn to get in. Actually it never occurred to me that they might run down the street/on the road!

We are really lucky with the amount of kids in the street. There aren't that many houses down our end of town. Next door is an older couple, but next to them they have a 8, 4 and newborn girls and next to them is a lady I know quite well though activities when the boys were little who has a 8, 6 and 4 year old. It will be nice if W starts playing with them. School holidays have started, hopefully we have good weather for it.

I found a sling to be a godsend for the school/preschool pickups! When I had A I had E at preschool and L at school. Preschool ended at 3pm, school finished at 3.15 so it would be this mad rush to go from preschool to school - lucky we live in a small town where it was a less than 5 minute drive LOL. It is just crazy - still is! the Car-Parkerazzi get there well before 3pm just so they can get a car park close to the school so they don't have to get out of the car so I have to park right up the other end of the street. But they are old enough now to let them walk to the car so I don't have to get out and walk 50miles back to the school :lol:

Arte, we used to be like that when we were kids - come and go as we pleased LOL. It was a great way to live. We are lucky we get a bit of that happening out here is the kids go up the scrub for a walk.

Ella, Christopher sounds just gorgeous! How are you feeling after the post-birth hormonal high?

I am looking for nice but old exterior and modern interior (or able to renovate to modernise)
Arte - sounds so idyllic for you (and W) that he can pop off to the neighbours house! The house next door to us has just been removated ands they are looking to rent it out. i am hoping for a family with kids N adn J age!! It is a shame in a way that the kids go to private school - we live opposite the (gorgeous) local primary so i geuss if they went there our house would be a hub for all the local kids.
Found out the other day that my cousin's (in NYC) 8 month old daughter has an issue with her arm. Apparebtly in utero she had reduced blook flow to the arm (they never picked this up) and so her arm has less use and is stunted in growth, this will continue her whole life. Poor little thing! it isnt very noticeable now but it will become more noticeable in the future. i just feel lucky that the reduced flow was just to her arm iykwim.
They cant shut us down, we rock!

Oh G! what a fantabulous day waiting for the septic man :ROFL: we are all so glamorous right now: me surrounded by tissues and coughing like a packet a day smoker....

Ella: oh phew! just reading that school pick up and drop off made me weary hahahahaha! i think that if we have another baby that i will want to get one of those capsule thingies that can click in and out. hated risking waking Marta at times and dreamt of being able to click her in and click her out.

Arte: nah, you aint negligent woman :). we have bucketloads of kids in the street here and they are already beginning to run riot at just 4-5 years old together. they run up to eachothers houses etc. i actually like that they know the 'good' houses IYKWIM. i feel a tad safer that if, for whatever reason L or M got lost or needed a safe shelter in a hurry that they could ask the multitude of people that we know on the street ITMS.

Cally: yeah i was with Trill...i am thinking hand and foot....although blisters can also be an immune response that can be set off by loads of stress and considering last week's work "festivities" it could be that manifesting physically. either way, i think you need a good holiday....in fact, i think we all need a good holiday...how do the manuca islands in Fiji sound guys??!!!

I am sorry to hear that about your cousin's baby. the parents must be quite shocked and reeling from this information. I hope that the Mama is being gentle on herself as i can imagine that there would be some feelings of guilt...even though it isn't rational ITMS.

Just a quick one: Cally gargle & swish as often as you can with half a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water. And get some Manuka honey in ya gob! :hug:

Didn't make it to the chemist, but I don't think it's HFM (nothing on H or F). Tend to think more related to stress/cold of last week, combined with getting back into exercise so body a little bit rundown. My mouth kind of feels like I've been sucking on too many lollies - unfortunately without the fun part of tasting all those lollies!! MD, I have a salt water swish happening.

MP - ooohh, new house, very exciting.

Cally: yeah, i'd say it's the stress stress stress :hug:

Cally - Yep now that i read it properlr i reckon stress, esp as the hand thing is a burn!! hope you get over it soon - have you thought about some immune boosting stuff?
I have had a tough few days. one of my friends passed away (from cancer) - she was only my age and it is just awful. i hadnt seen her for ages (she lived in syd, but we lived together overseas when we were 18 and were in touch - in fact i have an unfinished game of 'words with friends' on my phone with her) - but so haunting and awful.
I also did a kids first aid course last night. you should all do it if you havent.

Cass I have bought myself some more time. Now, to spend it wisely...

MP - I am so sorry to hear you have lost your friend, under such awful conditions. Thinking of you :hug:

Hugs MP, that is a hard thing to be going through.

MD - the salty rinse seems to be helping.

It's good isn't it Cally? Good for sore throats too. Sometimes we're so wrapped up in that notions of going to the doctor/pharmacy/shops and paying money for a fix that we forget the simplest remedies can be best.

Oh, and when you're slurping that salty goodness in for what seems like the bazillionth time - spare old MD a thought - I was sucking it in everyday for 4 months during chemo (!!!) :lol:

we have a date for tonsils finally- 28th november. yah!!! he is going for a hearing test too to see if he needs grommets as well.

Thats great that you have a date for the op G - and its nly 6 weeks away. assume that was through private?
Do you have reason to suspect he needs grommets or are you just checking in case?

yes it is private. the surgeon had a good look over him and thought he looked like he had some fluid in his ears. he was asking about his language which has always been a bit behind so thought he should have his hearing tested too.

Roll on Nov 28! I had grommits in my ears and look how I turned out (!) ... so ... consider that a recommendation for getting it done :p

MP: I am sorry that you have lost a friend :hug: that is so sad :( and in a way, it is even tougher when you are their friend and live so far away. i found being far from Oma really hard as you couldnt just drop by when they were unwell ITMS. much love to you xx

Very quiet in here. We finally have a warm (25) day, although there is a bit of a wind. DH is at cricket and Miss K and I are waiting for my sister to pop in (she's down visiting with her friends) and then going for coffee.
