Cass, I would be spewing if DH sat around while I did everything! My DH was a great help for the kids party, I had everything planned and gave him a list and it all went so smoothly - didn't even bicker about anything!

I don't know what this koko black is that everyone is talking about!! Is it some sort of chocolate? I am a low-brow chocolate consumer anyway - like it cheap and full of sugar lol

MP, that is a good idea to donate to charity - the amount of toys gets out of control! That is why we are getting sets that can be added to - single random items just p1ss me off when it comes to storage! Re lying - W stood up at mat time at kindy the other day with some toy I had never seen and said it was his and he had found it on the floor at the supermarket.... Afterwards I called him over and talked about it and it turned out he found it next to his locker. We found the boy it belonged to (had shown it the day before) and gave it back. W was very embarrassed about it even though I kept repeating he wasn't in any trouble. Anyways, the lying has tapered off after that. Usually just about washing his hands after the toilet now. I find that if I directly say that he hasn't done it he will stick to the lie, but if I say something like "it is alright if you forgot, you can just go back and do it now" then he will admit that he didn't actually do it and go back. Then I make a point of thanking him for telling me the truth.

Thanks Arte - I found little things. some are more 'imagination' - like who he played with and what they did etc. sometimes its saying I said something or DH did... and then yesterday he pretended he did a whole game by himself - which DH had seen he didnt...
So as I said, nothing bad but wondering how I curtail it.
I like your idea of options like that he 'forgot' something. and i will def call it out and talk to him about it if i see it on (like the kindy thing).

We got a few sets we can build on too - mum bought mobilo and we are already building a duplo set. and N got some lego too. i am lucky he isnt into any of the 'branded' stuff like transformers etc yet.

MP - in cases like that, we sometmes ask if it was real or pretend and usually she knows its pretend. That just keeps it clear in their heads, but is still encouraging imagination.

I definitely prefer the long lasting stuff too. We have lots of really random things, usually from the IL's.

Arte - Koko Black is a chocolate shop and cafe. They sell individual chocolates as well as really good hot/iced chocolates and awesome mousse, ice cream etc.

Last day of holidays.... DH has taken K out for a swim so I have the afternoon to myself.

Cally, the 'real or pretend' thing is a great idea. If something is inconsequential we sometimes ask if he is just pretending.

The other lie thing that was bothering me was W agreeing just to fit in iykwim. Like at kindy when the teacher asked the kids if they had snow at their house and heaps of kids were yelling out yes, so W did too even though we didn't have any. He was doing it quite a lot to agree with the teachers/group but we had a bit of a chat about it, saying things that weren't true when he could just say what really happened. I told him that he was a really neat person and he didn't have to be like everyone else and it seems to have stuck.

Erin seems to have the vomit bug. She has only spewed twice in her life until today - has done three full-feed chucks this afternoon and looks sad :( I haven't had to deal with a sick little baby before.

Poor little Erin, hope she feels better soon.

aw poor erin :( It is pretty important to keep an eye on her considering her age as she could get dehydrated pretty quickly. i'd give your midwife a bell as a heads up and ask for advice. it should pass soon though, considering she is getting the liquid gold of boob!

MP: we donated this year as part of Marta's naming ceremony as a gift to the godparents. i reckon it is a fab idea!

Cally: enough of the koko black porn talk hahahahaha! all i can think about is chocolate mousse hahahaha!

MP We have very similar issue re:lying. I think it is an age thing, they begin to realise that telling stories can get good reactions which makes them feel good as well as telling stories to avoid trouble. Sometimes i laugh and say " I know you're just tricking aren't you?" And she laughs and changes her story. I tell her how important it is to tell the truth and i often talk about the story of the boy who cried wolf, when he told little lies no one believed him when he needed them to. And i try really hard not to get cross if she finally tells the truth, we just talk about it. Sas had reflux, but i saw a paed who basically made me feel like a whinging mum. She was a difficult baby, i had to hold her upright for an hour after a feed in the night, or she'd spew her whole feed and cry, but she only screamed when lying down, if i held her she was fine. P cried no matter what. L was a dream baby, lucky i had her first. lol

Cally- That story is so sad. People really do underestimate the power of water. How's the running going? I reckon a lizard on the excercise mat is reason enough to roll it back up!!!

Poor Erin, Arte. Hope she stops chucking. Nothing worse than a sick baby. :(

Gorgeous gorgeous birthday party for Missy E today - hired a jumpy castle with a HUGE tinkerbelle on the front LOL. It was a practically perfect party, cake turned out fabulous and very pretty, only problem was when E had a meltdown instead of blowing out the candles. Poor darling. Too many people standing around expectantly. Anyway she had a ball and the weather was *perfect* and all the kids played beautifully together. Can you tell I'm pleased with how it turned out? :D

Arte - aw, I'm so sorry to hear E is unwell. It might be worth getting her checked by a dr as they can go downhill fast at this age. xxx

JM, so good to hear from you, I have wondered many times how you're getting on back in the jungle. Reflux is hard work. We had good results seeing a paediatric osteopath so maybe that's something you could look into when you're back in Nov. Also, could you speak to a pharmacist and find out whether they could give you the stuff to make up the suspension yourself in small batches?

Have been reading but v tired after all the jumpy castle fun today so will BBL when I need another good dose of procrastinatoring.

JM - Hope you can sort out the reflux, I have heard it is hard work!! I am loving your pics of the girls on fb.

Ginger - Yes I know exactly what you mean about feeling confused and wondering whether to go for that third. If your DH gets the snip then you can just move on and forget about it. I am in the same frame of mind atm, my DH doesnt want anymore either. But I am unsure. If he gets the snip he has made the decision for me and its all good hehe

Arte - I hope miss E is better soon!!

MP - The party sounds like it was fantastic, you went above and beyond! Also the holiday to Hawaii would have been so great, I am glad the boys were good on the flight. Yes I am still breastfeeding, but she is fast losing interest and we are down to just a few feeds per day. I am not worrying about it these days :)

Cass - Hehehehe your DH sounds like he was having a good old time, glad he got a hang over though, pay back! The job you are about to undertake sounds absolutely amazing and fascinating and right up my alley, I would love to hear all about it.

OMG Cass! I would have tore him a new one for doing that! He definitely does owe you bigtime! But the party and naming cermony sounded just wonderful.

Cally, I don't understand why people don't use lifejackets either - its no different to wearing a seatbelt as far as I'm concerned. When we go water skiing the kids know they are not allowed in the boat without a jacket on and we only go to an enclosed lake! Heck we don't even let them swim in the lake without a jacket on. It is such a tragedy though and I'm sure the families will be beating themselves up over the 'should haves' too. And using a Koko Black voucher is as good a reason as any to have to go back to canberra LOL.

Arte, that is terrible for little E. It is hard though to keep them away from it when you have sick older kids. HOpefully it passes quickly for her.

I think the lying is definitely an age thing - the girls started at about this age too and I would just call them out on the fib and tell them I knew it wasn't true. I also told them that they had to think about whether things were real or not before they told people and told them the whole boy who cried wolf thing LOL. L never did it though and A hasn't started yet.

Took the kids to the movies yesterday with Mum. She took the girls and A to see The Smurfs, which they loved and L and I saw Red Dog. If you haven't seen it you just HAVE to! It is a brilliant movie - made us laugh and made us cry! Best Aussie movie in years. I will have to get it on DVD when it comes out because DH would love it too.

I know the passes are good - I was expecting far worse LOL! It was so hard having to fit in prac and do them though, because I was so out of whack from being out of home every day for the month I found it impossible to stay on top of all the uni work too. I'm worried how it will go next year because I will have the extra subject as well.

LOL MP! Yes you probably are certifiably crazy for wanting to do it, but I reckon you should give it a shot and see how you go.

I am thinking of studying in a new area - nutrition and 'wellness' - been a long time passion and thinking of some new career pathways.
the corportate world is amazing for me and i love it and have amazing opps... but the thought of the pressure i am under for 30+ yrs.... so opening doors perhaps on some new areas.
In the meantime i think is is fascinating area to study so thinking i might apply and see how i go with a couple of subjects and take it from there.\
then i freak out - 2 kids, full time work and this.... but i somehow manage to cram more and more and i would like a new dimension to life too.

MP - well it's certainly worth giving it a shot. At least you know what you want to do, I'm having a bit of a self confidence crisis at the moment and wondering if I want to do this for the rest of my life, but don't have any idea of what else I would do. Doesn't help getting back to work after yesterday and having every single decision questioned....

We went to see a 9 day old bub yesterday - so gorgeous. K was so keen to hold her and gave her such nice cuddles.

I just saw Ella has posted in her belly buddy thread, hope she doesn't mind me saying but she had baby Christopher last wednesday, 10lb 1oz. Congratulations Ella!

Arte - There was a lot of frustration, I got pretty close to crying when I got home. This morning I woke up early and it was all I could think about and couldn't get back to sleep. Thankfully today was better.

DD has gone back up to Canberra to go to see Justine Clarke tomorrow with cousin and my parents. She left the cutest message on our answering machine to say that she was at Granny's house (DH met them halfway for the transfer)

Cally, that's terrible they did that to you :hug: I'm sure it would only be because of their own issewes and not because you did anything wrong.

hi girls!

well, i ended up being induced (very grudgingly) last Wed at 10 days overdue with apparently "low" fluid levels. the labour was fast and hard, but at least it was over quickly!! i managed to go without any pain relief (which was my main concern against being induced - had heard it was much more painful) so that was a relief... we all got a bit of a fright when we saw the baby though - he was 10lbs 1oz, and none of us had suspected that he'd be anywhere near that big!! we named him Christopher Richard (Richard is my FIL's name). he is very cuddly and easy going, but is an absolute pig and is always looking for a nipple. the poor thing gets NO attention with the other two demanding so much time, but i'm sure he will know no better and turn out just fine!! both of the older kids think they're the bees-knees of parenting, and need to be watched very intently, or they will pick him up, move him around, incorporate him as a prop in one of their games, etc...

i haven't read through the posts to see what everyone is up to - i'll try and catch up over the next couple of days...

MP: crazy but worth it! chasing your dreams will always be worth it IMHO. so i say go for it! just take a minimum of subjects and you'll get there!

Thanks for the advice – decided to give it a go so I am applying and will do 2 subjects in the first semester and see how I go. Am quite excited to just learn something new and also about the pathways it may open.
Cally – I know how demoralising that can be. I think we all have those days and the sleepless nights that follow. I think women take that stuff a lot harder in the workplace than men would. I try to keep that in mind when I am replaying work convos etc over and over.
Cass – I meant to say congrats on your first pay check!!
MD – the party sounded fantastic. Am liking the idea of hiring a jumping castle!
Ella – congratulations! That is so exciting and I am glad the birth went well. He sound divine! I know J gets so much less attn than N did – I can only imagine how self sufficient a number 3 would need to be!!!
J came home early yest w a temp and was kinda whingey… but no other symptoms, ate dinner etc…. hmmm… dropped him at crèche (with a lot of mummy guilt) but we will see how he goes. N had his friend sleep over again last night – soooo cute! It’s pretty easy having her over (they both went to holiday prog today) and its so lovely that he can have her sleep over now. As I plaited her hair this morning I kind of wished I had a daughter….

PS Cass - sometimes they have early sessions (like 930am) - I sometimes went with J at that time, no one was there.... and if he got loud i took him outside.

Congratulations Ella! I too find the 'help' from my 2 and 4 year old interesting?! I find my baby gets more attention becasue i have to hold her all the time to protect her from the other two. :lol:

MP- MY FB status was referring to a couple of nasty women i have the pleasure of living with. This morning as i went for a walk with the girls i can across a group of women leaving a 'playgroup' This one woman who for some reason doesn't like me has invited everyone else (about 6 people) and not me to play group. Didn't even let me know it was on. She has done it before though, i shouldn't be surprised. She is a nasty piece of work. Not sure what i ever did wrong, but she doesn't like me, clearly! The other day the ladies all had cards and i wasn't invited. Apparently someone thought i'd be too busy with the baby. :eyeroll: Who wants to play canasta with a bunch of old ladies anyway right?? :p Who needs friends when you have a computer? :o :o I'm not the only one who they do this to apparently. But i don't have the energy to waste on it. I'll just stick to myself and my new fitness plan. :)

JM: oh dont worry, i wasnt invited to the ol' 'stitch and *****' club in fiji either. i too have no idea what i was lacking...probably the pearls, or maybe the lexus...

JM - they aren't worth it hon.... though it must feel pretty rotten at the time, especially being in such a small community.
Do your fitness regime - you will then be even more super dooper gorgeous and they will have even more to feel jealous of!

Even if they did invite you, you'd hate it anyway because if they are that way inclined to exclude people in the first place, then you just know that they will spend the entire time *****ing about people

JM, that would feel terrible. Bet she is just jealous of your beautiful girls. Is she the one that can't have kids? I am sure it is only her issues and nothing to do with you. I know some of the ladies from the local activities have their own meet ups - at the house across the road from me.

Yeah, you're all right. If i was in Aus i wouldn't give a second thought to it. She is the only other expat here with children. A 3 year old and a 9 year old. But she is not really the kind of person i'd want to be friends with anyway. She treats the nationals as second rate and tells anyone who will listen how they are doing everything wrong. I don't even want to be her friend, but i wouldn't be actively nasty to her, this is such a small village we have here, it's just not worth it. The one without kids has been organising cards and not inviting me becasue, she told someonelese, "I would be too busy" Thanks for telling me how i must be! :p
But anyhoo, i'm over it now. :D

Off to a ball in Lae on Sat night, should be a bit of fun. It's the ball associated with the Lae Agricultural Show. I am going with my most beautiful accessory..... Miss P. ;) At least in the close carrier, she hides my baby belly a bit! :lol:

Took P to the Dr for an ENT referral on Wednesday too. He said they are huge and will more than likely need to come out but he said he couldn't say that for certain. Made the appt with the Paed ENT - for January 31, 2012 LOL! That was the earliest appt I could get. And it will cost $350!! but hopefully if he does do anything the wheels will turn quickly because we have the PHI.

Trill: yeah our GP reckons Ls tonsils will no doubt get taken out as they humungous lol. jan 2012. man, i can barely believe that we are already that far ahead that such a date exists!!

This year is just whizzing by - Erin is already nearly a month old!

Went to the physio. Apparently the mega pain in the few days after the birth was from the pelvis ligaments being stretched too far during the birth and the lesser pain that I have now is muscular from the muscles taking over when the ligaments were strained. MD, I thought of you when I was getting my bum rub! Is this a common after birth thing? I have never heard of it.

oh wow. i just realised that when P has the appt in january we will be already living in LA!!! :o

We bought the tickets today...leave on the 19th of january....eepppppppp!!!!!

Arte: are there any exercises that you need to do for the ligaments/muscles?

Wow Cass, that makes it all very real! We will miss each other by a few weeks! I am still coming to melb on the 7th and 8th of Feb next year.

Arte, it is just one of those things that some women will get and others wont. You had a bit of SPD during this pg didn't you? In women who have a lot of issues with ligaments during the pg can have them for a while after the pg because of all the relaxin hormones.

my big man is now 4!!! unbelievable. it has gone soooo quickly, i honestly can't believe it. he is loving his cubby, it has been a great present.

i have made an appointment with a private ENT for tuesday and we will just go from there i guess. I'm really hoping he can do it asap!!
