Pholi, yay for teeth. it's getting really exciting with all of these new things our bubbas are doing.
Mum to 2, how is C?
Amelia has been miserable again today, has spent last 2 nights in bed with me while dh was on night shift. We have been having lots of cuddles. She has been okay when I have gone out and about with her though, just to mothers group and rhyme time

Hi All, sorry its been so long since my last post. Life is just so busy!
Since Christmas I've had my little boys in cloth nappies (made it a NY resolution). So many cool options out there!
Happy 6 months! (And nearly 6 months for those a bit younger)
Well baby Kayden is growing so fast! He is now too big for the bassinet and for the last few nights has been in the cot! He seems to be sleeping better in the cot as well. Also he is super keen for solids! Grabbing at everything putting it all in his mouth and wants to eat all our food. Have been giving him a little bit of Apple mush- he LOVES IT!! I swear he will eat a whole jar if I let him! (I stop him at half a jar, for now.)
DDB miserable baby not fun, but good excuse for cuddles we usually have J in our bed every morning.
Chrispe cloth rocks! Does DH get on board? Can't believe how fast these last few months have gone! Still a few weeks off 6 months here. Geez what bassinet did you have? J grew out of his at 3 months old!! Mind you he is a bit of a giant LOL
On my phone so can't see last page, so hi to everyone else
Anyway, we bought a high chair on the weekend and my big boy had his first sit up in it. He's only 5 months so not ready for solids, but I'm excited to get started! I think banana is going to be the first! Heaps of people keep saying he looks ready because he reaches out for food, but I'm like um he's a baby he reaches out for EVERYTHING! LOL oh and he's crawling! WTH isn't he too young for this? So I need to baby proof this house. Can you seasoned mumma's point out all I need to do? Thanks
Lady Neon-hello, so good to hear from you. It sounds like you are having heaps of fun with J . I love that you have him in your bed of a morning. A has been with me the last 4 nights but last night after a feed I popped her back in her bed. She likes her own space as well as cuddles sometimes Yay for sitting up in the high chair, he will be nice and used to it when the time comes. Don't worry about ppl trying to push solids, you are his mummy and know him better than anyone . Amelia really just plays so I don't think she has swallowed a thing yet lol. As for crawling, it is definitely possible. He may be an early crawler
Chrispe-hello, yay for Cloth nappies, I wish I had done that but just cannot afford the outlay right now. Maybe one day though.
AFU-all good here, went out for a coffee with a friend today and her little man and baby, A loved it because she loves getting out and about in the sun.
DDB, if you just buy one or 2 cloth nappies at a time, you'll have a stash soon enough I started with just the 12 mum bought, and now have around 30 or you could try some second hand ones? Search for 'Buy and Sell your MCN's (modern cloth nappies)' on Facebook.
Oh did anyone see on last nights news that a lack if vitamin D has been linked to allergies in children? I didn't see the whole segment but thought I'd mention it
DDB- if you want I could 'invite' you to the buy & sell facebook group. Lol about buying cloth later.... I've just started using them for my 4th baby! Wish they had the MCN around when my first was born. Also there is a "Nappy Library" online, I think it's called QTBooty.....
LN- for Kayden I bought the Strider bassinet, it's deeper than my old Emmaljunga bassinet was. He was way too big for the bassinet a while ago, but as my babies aren't mobile early I didn't need to move him. Now he try's to sit and roll I've put the bassinet away. (it's part of the Strider pram package, I'll sell them all together when we are finished with the pram).
Weighed Kayden today. 9.3kgs. Woohoo he is now 'officially' my biggest baby at 6 months. (DS1 was 8kg, DD was 9kg, DS2 was 8kg)
Lady Neon-yay for a tooth. How did J cope with it coming through?
AFU-I have had one very unsettled bubba lately. From about 8:30 at night till at least 1 or 2. The last few nights it has been all night though. We just figured out that it seems to start after she has a bottle so I will just do breast and see what happens. I don't mind if she cannot have a bottle. She was only having it because she gets so tired by the end of the day and lazy.
Okay,
Lets see how I go. DS is eating and A is sleeping (for a little while anyway )
DDB - is Miss A getting over her unsettled nights?
It's not too late to start cloth if you really want to. They do have some really cheap China made deals just to get you started.
Lady N - congrats on the teeth. A is still a gummy, but I'm still not expecting teeth any time soon. DS was about 8 or 9 months before he got any.
Go J on the crawling. Yes it is a bit on the early side. Tell him to slow down LOL. A is crawling as well
Chrispe - K is certainly growing well!
Pholi - Sounds like T is enjoying his solids
Terry - I hope little G's teeth come in soon and stop bothering her.
hello to anyone I've missed!
AFU - A is into solids BIG time. Which seems strange as I'd only just started solids on DS by this time and he enjoyed them, but wasn't fussed if I missed a meal. Her on the other hand she cracks it. And I mean full on tanty if she doesn't get her solid meals and gets really cranky if I don't get them to her as fast as she thinks she should have it. I've not been able to go as much BLS with her as I'd have liked because of that. She gets really upset because she can't get the food to herself quick enough and goes into full blown melt down. So I have to give her puree first until she's had enough to be kind of full, then give her chunks of stuff after that to eat on her. She's on 4-5 solid meals a day but hasn't dropped a single breast feed either. She must have a bottomless stomach!
She's crawling, and trying VERY unsuccessfully to pull herself up. Much to my releif. I don't need her walking yet. I want her to slow down and be my little baby for longer! She still doesn't sit though. She can't even be bothered to try. She's either on the move, eating or sleeping. Apparently there is no room for sitting in there
She was 6 months old yesterday, and she has her 6 month Dr appointment tomorrow.
On my sad news I start back to work next Tuesday and I am SO NOT READY
Dr Tal, sounds like A is going great guns! I'm sorry you have to go back to work. It sucks if you're not ready.
Thor had a truly terrible patch of being near impossible to settle about a week ago. Normally we get 10-20 minutes of fussing and intermittent crying, offering food, trying a burp, offering water, and repeated dummy-replacing visits, beofre he'd finally drop off, but then he started with screaming for up to an hour and a half, no relief from panadol/food/water/burps/boob/rocking/cuddles etc. I lost it one morning and left him screaming while I had a shower, and he was asleep when I came back. I felt terrible, hated myself for abandoning him, but I was starting rto get reallu frustrated and angry, and I had to leave the room. The next morning I called ngala and asked for advice - I mostly got reassurance, nothing really new to try, but just that it's absolutely fine, if I know he's fed, burped, watered and in a clean nappy, just to stand by the cot and 'sh' and pat gently for reassurance, and it's ok if there is screaming for no apparent reason. I started doing that without constantly trying to offer 'solutions' for whatever 'problem' was causing the screaming, and he cried for 20 mins, then 10 mins, then 5 mins, and from the next day, he's been an angel, almost every time we put him down, night or day. Who knows if the positive change was because of my change in attitude or if it was just going to happen anyway, but now I'm just hoping it will last!
Pholi-big hugs. I have found times when that has happened with A too.
AFU-Amelia has a yukky chest so is on antibiotics. I consulted several drs before giving them as well as nurse friends. I was paranoid lol. It looks like 6 month needles will have to wait again.
DDB he was pretty alright with the teeth, his sleep was disturbed for about a month, waking 1 or 2 hourly - not cranky, just restless. as soon as they cut he went back to sleeping 4 hours, a couple times he's done 7 hours - mind you he doesn't fully wake, just stirs, and I feed him then he's back to sleep. He was wearing the Amber teething beads so maybe that helped? Sorry to hear Amelia is unwell. Hope she perks up real soon, its very scary when babies are sick.
Tal you're greedy little poppet story has given me a good chuckle! Sucks that you have to go to work full time??
Pholi that is rough hun. Don't worry we all lose it, being a parent is hard work! Glad he is back normal for you.
Well, things are pretty good here, J is up and about shooting all over the place. He loves dogs. He beelines to our dogs or my parents dogs, pats their noses and totally cracks up at them, its really cute and funny! 6 month needles next week and we will be starting him on some solids soon, which is exciting but am not looking forward to cleaning up the mess or poohs LOL
Tal looks like we both have babies that love their food. G goes crazy as soon as she is in her chair then grunts if your not giving it to her fast enough. Good luck with going back to work I'm feeling sick at the thought of it
DDB your such a good mum checking and getting opinions before giving A medication. Hope she's feeling better soon.
Pholi like others have said don't stress all babies go threw stages where they cry. Glad he is back to normal.
AFU G cut her first teeth and is now half crawling half rolling everywhere and sitting on her bottom. The playpen isn't far away and the baby proofing of the house had started. We begin our day care familiarisation tomorrow I'm not ready but I know she will be ok and settled by the time I go back to work. I've also started giving her some formula now too in prepetation
