Congratulations Tegam!! And well done to all our babies staying together! Yourself and your DH are troopers! I was petrified that's how my birth would happen and you seem so calm about it all! So happy for you xx

Phy- let's hope your new bundle doesn't follow in DS1 footsteps.
This may sound naive but what is witching hour?? Torah has had about an hour each day or a period where she just isn't as content to be our down or even settle in our arms as she normally would... At first this was after her 5am feed but now she is skipping that it's around the 11pm feed!! Could that be it?

Thats witching hour wannabubby... Zen has a period of abut 2-3 hours after waking int he monring and before sleeping at night where he is unsettled, noting much settles him, so I am trying to get hm in the hugabub to calm him but he isnt too keen on it yet.

Congrats again Tegam! I am not sure where I posted my congrats... I am so sleep deprived...

So good to know is normal, it seems to stress DH more then myself though, I've helped out with nieces enough were they are babies that I've been able to keep my calm so far, but last night I could see it was really getting to him =( just trying to remind him we are lucky she is as placid and content as she is and that moments like that are perfectly normal lol xx

Tegam that sounds beautiful, congratulations again!!

We have witching hour pretty bad here. From about 5pm-9pm she is pretty much screaming. It's exhausting!
Apart from that she is gorgeous! I will try to post more in here. Have been a bit slack.

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014

I had a visit with the lactation consultant today, OMG so glad I went! I thought we were going really well with bf and we were but there's a whole new kind of 'going really well'. She took me right back to what we were doing in the beginning before all the different advice undermined my confidence. She had me reclining comfortably, allowing Lachlan to do what babies are born to do, find the nipple and latch on. She also advised me to pump the other side while he feeds so both breasts will flow better. That solves the problem of choosing between baby time or pumping time. She also noticed he has thrush making his little tongue sore he is currently milk drunk on boobie milk with his head on my chest (aawwww). We are both so happy going back to what felt so natural for us...

    Sounds wonderful eivie.

My dream sleeper became a boobie monster this afternoon. Feel it's going to be a longish night. DH tried to give me an hours sleep while he was settled and I got all sookie and couldnt stand to be away from him! Silly girl that I am I bet I regret that in a few hours

    Awesome stuff eivie!

Tegam I was the same after Zen was born he slept for 6 hours. Had I known it would have been the last time I would get that long to sleep in a row I would have napped but all those endorphinsand adrenalin!

I got my photos from labour and birth, pretty cool! And I think I can manage the witching hours ok with my plan. Zen loves showers and it calms him down so we will shower him in the evenings and hopefully it will end the crying for the evening. In theory. Lol!

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014

Phyrephly - evening baths always helped DS. Walks helped too. Sounds like a good theory to me.

Afm- was back at hospital yesterday due to pain. Found blood in uterus so hopefully that will drain. If not will be back next week. I feel a bit pulled around and it is taking its toll on my milk. Reduced milk everyday and it's making me sad.
My princess is happy regardless. She is more alert everyday, but sleeps well. Holding her brings so much joy.

Oh no Williever, hopefully it gets better quickly. Have you spoken with a lactation consultant about the milk? They might have some very simple advice like enjoy lots of skin to skin. Might be worth trying the lactation cookies to help maintain your supply too. Big hug...

Phyrephly that sounds like a great plan, I really hope it helps calm him down

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014

Hi ladies, been reading but hard to find time to post! All my 'spare' time is spent catching a few zzz, housework or eating!

Williever sorry to hear about the pain and infected uterus Hope the blood drains soon. Keeping up milk supply at this crucial time is hard, it feels like a full time job! I keep worrying about it too.

Phy that's cool you have photos already!

Eivie awesome about the lc. Where did you find her? Our council has a drop in centre with a lc, I may go next week just to check everything....

Tegam congrats again and hope everything he going well with your new little man

Afm - had mchn home visit wed and she said we were giving too much formula top up. Said to wean him off it and bf more frequently which I've been trying but it's just too tiring. We're getting there though, today he's been on 20-25mls down from 60. Dh goes back to work next week and I'm quite worried how I'll go with both kids - dd seems to always wake up when I am feeding bubs! I guess I'll have to work something out...

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014

Cattie it was a hospital lc, I had to wait 2 weeks to see her. I'd definitely recommend seeing the council one. The feeding experience can become really stressful when we have to supplement and express and the lc took me back to basics and it's a relaxing bonding time now.

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014

    I'm jealous.

I have ordered everything ready to make cookies. I need a nipple shield but supply is not enough to use that...... So pumping small amounts again. If by next Friday it's still this low or lower I'll pack it in.

I've got to fill in the birth certificate form and PPL this weekend. That is my aim, but I also wang to make a quick blanket...... Sewing always wins ;-)

Re: Babies Born ~ September 2014

Are you able to pump and bf at the same time Williever? That's made a huge difference for me. It makes more milk flow so better feeding for bub and better pumping session. It also means you don't need to find extra time for pumping. The lc showed me how to hook the pump into my bra so look mum, no hands! Obviously it needs to be an electric pump... I agree with setting boundaries for yourself though, it can be very stressful and draining trying to increase your supply and you have to be realistic about how far you are willing to go. If mum has no time to do anything besides worry about milk production it's not a good situation.
