OP - OOO how exciting that X is close to crawling.
Moving....ick. I have always hated moving. It's fantastic once it's done, but I always hate the packing things up, trying to decide what to keep and what to toss, keeping way too much anyway, then toting it to where ever. On the bonus side you'll be in your new house soon!
Things are kinda getting back to normal. The water treatment plant is finally back to mostly fully working, so we don't have to boil our water anymore, and I can actually use it to clean out my bird cages (which were getting a bit stinky). Some places still don't have power, but most do. The tree clean up will take ages though. It's a bit depressing when you drive down some of the streets as so many trees were damaged there are tree bits and limbs piled up in massive stacks the whole length of the road
Emma - Sorry to hear you were having such a bad night with T. I hope you were finally able to get him to sleep and get some yourself. Did it end that he was teething? Have you thought about maybe getting him an amber teething necklace?
Owens - Glad to hear that your friends made out okay in the storm as well. What a way for them to be welcomed to Townsville!
AFU - I need some advice/suggestions. B is going for his surgery on Monday. As he's going under general anasthetic he needs to fast..which of course you can't explain to a 7 month old baby. He isn't allowed solids after 7:30. No breastmilk after 9:30 between 9:30 and 11:30 he can have clear fluids only (so basically water) and then nothing till he's operated on. But his operation isn't scheduled until 2:45 and he's not going under till a bit before that, and that's assuming they are running on time. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can keep him calm/take his mind off it when he starts to get hungry/thirsty and I can't give him anything? I know I have a hard enough time when it's me and I understand what's going on.
Dr T - Poor little B having to go all that time without food. I wish I had a suggestion for you. Hope you both get through it okay.
You were right about the teething! His two top teeth are coming through, I can really see them today. I had been wondering if I was seeing a bulge but I didn't trust my own judgement and other people couldn't see it. They haven't broken through at all yet but they both look really close. Thanks for reminding me about the necklaces. I did a quick read of a random forum thread about them and so far everyone recommends them highly! I just read a little bit about the stuff that's released into the blood stream. Sounds all good! I just bought one off ebay. I was going to ask where you got yours but I didn't want to waste any more time, lol!

Emma - So you've ordered an amber necklace? HAs it come yet? I got mine at a baby expo from Amber 4 U. Hopefully you'll find it makes a big difference for T.
B's surgery went really well. They were thankfully able to do the easy one, so we were in and out in one day. And I have to say B was such a little trooper. He was SO fantastic. He ended up being an hour later into surgery then what he was suppose to due to complications with one of the surgeries before us. So he was without food from 9:30 (last breastfeed) until 3:45 (when he went into surgery) then he didn't wake up to feed until 7:30 at night And he was SO GOOD. He played in the toy room for ages (he was admitted at 11) then I got the nurse to watch him for a bit while I expressed and she had him laughing and giggling. Then I tried to put him down for a sleep but he kept trying to feed, so we went back and played in the toy room some more. At about 3 he had a good old wail but only for about 5 minutes, then he was good again. Everyone in the children's ward commented that they couldn't beleive how good he was being. Then he got prepped for surgery, I was able to go in with him. And the assistant anesthatist asked if I wanted to go in with him while he was put under. Which I thought was fantastic. It was really hard to watch, but I didn't want him to go to sleep with a whole bunch of strangers and be scared. They put the mask on his face and he got a bit panicy, but I talked to him and he calmed down, then he fell asleep. That was reallyh hard. They warned me about what would happen, but hearing it is different from seeing it. It tongue stuck out and he started to twitch and he peed and pooped then I kissed him and had to leave. I was called back in to recovery at 5:30. He was sound asleep in one of the nurses arms and had all the rest around him. They were all amased at how good he was too. Apparently most children when they wake up from anasthetic they scream and cry and are really upset because they are so disoriented. He woke up, did a little whinge, one of the nurses picked him up expected him to scream and kick and he looked at her winged one more time then cuddled into her and fell asleep. I had to get into a recovery bed then I was able to hold him while they monitored him for another half hour. Then we went back to our room on the childrens ward. He wasn't allowed to be released until he had fed without vomiting and peed. He finally woke up at 7:30 and fed, kept it down and peed at about 8:30 so we were home by 9 that night.
He's doing really well now. It hurts him when he pees, and he won't commando crawl anymore (I am assuming because it also hurts) but apart from that you'd hardly know he had surgery on Monday!
That's so good to hear, Dr Tal! What a great little boy your B is.
AFU, the necklace came on Wednesday afternoon and T wore it all day yesterday. For the first times ever, I was able to leave the room with Travis crying (but the cry wasn't as distressed as it usually is) and he went to sleep by himself, TWICE yesterday! So I think it's working already!

Did yours come with any care instructions? Apparently you need to take them off when you give bubs a bath becasue the soap will leave a residue on the beads and it won't work properly. I also take B's off when he's swimming. Apart from that B has his on 24/7 The instructions that came with mine also say "to remove dust and perspiration from the amber beads, simply wipe over them with a soft cloth in lukewarm water. They should be dried carefully and rubbed lightly with clear olive oil. Then rubbed with a soft cloth to remove any excess pol and restore the polish. Commercial jewellery cleanres should not be used on amber"

I don't know why, but for some reason I thought you already had amber teething necklaces for both X and your DD. Huh. Must be going crazy
Well B is sick with a urinary tract infection. Looking on the bright side, he has to be home from daycare all this week which means I don't have to go to work so I can spend a whole nother week with him
Apparently urinary tract infections are a VERY common side effect of the surgery he had with about 90% of babies who have had the surgery getting them. Because it hurts when they pee they apparently don't empty their bladders properly which causes the infection.
Saturday night I woke up to him and he had a fever gave him some panadol and it went down. Sunday he was fine. Woke up in the middle of the night to him Sunday night he he had a fever again. Monday no fever, but he was off his solids a bit. Monday night he had a fever of 39.1 I gave him panadol again but this time I made an appointment for him first thing in the morning. Had to collect a specimin sample...which was amasingly difficutl. The pee bag wouoldn't say on his penis becaue I needed to have antibiotic cream on it, and they said to keep it on beacuse the moisture/pee in the bag could cause his wound to get infected. 8 pee bags later I had just over a ml of pee Thankfully it was enough. Got his diagnosis about 2 hours later. Thankfully it doesn't seem to affect babies the same way as adults as he seems to be peeing fine, no pain (he's not had any pain while peeing since around Friday) so that's at least something. Got a fever again last night, but at least I know why now, they said the antibiotics shoudl kick in by late today but said to keep him home tomorrow as well just in case.

You guys have been talking about the amber teething necklaces, i must admit i was a sceptic. But i bought one for Shay in hope i wouldn't have to keep feeding her panadol and its AWESOME (and cute as an added bonus haha) 2 teeth no fuss (well minimum fuss) went and bought one for my nephew too i got mine off eBay i was told to beware of fake, self-made certificates/tags from sellers. Ask them for proof and visit the AGbA website.
AFU Lyla started "school" 1 day a week and she LOVES it didn't look back didn't cry. I did
Shay is crawling and pulling herself up and couch cruising. She loves looking out the window. 2 little teeth on the bottom and all 4 on top just under the surface hate teething, it must hurt so much.
That's great that the amber necklace is working I bought mine with the thought of, it can't hurt and if itsworks it's an added bonus. B is still a gummy (only gummy left now I think ) but I do think it works as whenever he's sick he's still happy ITMS

Dr Tal- It was horrible. Especially cos there's no real reason for her to be there other than she wanted to go. IMO i'm a SAHM and she should be with me. But i have major issues with leaving her. Don't want it to rub off on her IYKWIM?
Hey, someone mentioned to me the other day that Shay should be talking more, she says mum dad and bub. I swear that's all Lyla said at her age. Should she be saying more? How are all your bubbies going with words?
Jessey - thats ridiculous every child is different some talk heaps some dont talk at all for ages, some have better things to do than talk lol. So annoying people telling you what they SHOULD be doing. My DD and DS are so different its not funny, my DD was pulling herself along the furniture at this age, but DS just commando crawls around, if I compared the two then I would be very worried about DS but they are different and will do things in their own time.
AFM - E is commando crawling everywhere and has been for a month or so now, I have never seen a baby commando crawl so fast he is a rocket, keeps up with his sister not a problem. He has to be tough to put up with her she has been gouging his face with her fingernails little bugger does it when we are not looking, she was doing it 10+ times a day, E looked like he had been in a fight with a cat, we are getting on top of it though and down to maybe two episodes a day. DD loves him to bits but he is not allowed to touch her toys according to DD.
He has also gone off his bottles a bit, hardly drinking anything at all during the day, be lucky if he would have 300-400ml, night time is a different story he has been waking about 2 hours after he goes to bed wanting a bottle and then about 3am wanting a bottle, previously was sleeping through. Our water is horrible at the moment from all the floods so I am wondering if that may have something to do with it, it even takes yuck boiled when you have coffees etc so his milk must taste different too.
He is more interested in real food at the moment as well he is a hungry little boy all the time.
I cant think of anything else to update you on.....ummm... he has two bottom teeth, he can clap hands which is so cute, he can nearly wave too and he says bub bub but thats about it.
Still no Internet here... Stupid Optus stuffed up our order so we're going back to Telstra!
Jessey - X doesn't even say mum, he just says Dadadada and sometimes "Anda", which is what DD calls him awww! but it's really just a variation on dada
So he must be really delayed!!
But his gross motor skills are ahead of where DD was at this age I think?

Dr T, I had no idea B was sick, I'm so sorry, I hadn't checked in a while. I hope he has perked up a bit on the ABs.

As for the amber teething necklace - no, I didn't try it with DD. People kept telling me to but I didn't... Don't know why.
I've got one now though for X! He's had it or a few days... Our first night wearing it was so much better than our nights have been, but then the next two were really bad again. Sigh.

AFU: X is still waking lots overnight. Child health nurse told me I should night wean at his 6mth check but I have been to tired to try... But now I'm thinking I should. I just don't know what to do.
Sorry to post a bit of a downer, I'm just so tired and feel a bit like everything is getting on top of me...
Jessey - Phooey on S being beind because she's not talking yet. You said she's motoring around like a champion so i'd say she's spending more time wolrking on that and less concentrating on talking. B doesn't say a thing yet. He grunts from time to time..generally at the dogs to get their attention, but he doesn't even really do that very often. Blows raspberries constantly though. Does it the whole time he's crawling, pulling himself up on things, when he's tired he blows them on my neck, arm, breast...anything really.
OP - B doesn't sleep through the night at all anymore either. He's generally up every two to three hours. I keep saying daycare broke him, because it started when he started going to daycare, but honestly I have no clue what is going on with him. I just don't have the heart to night wean him though so I guess it's my own fault
Glad to hear B's not the only gummy left I am constantly imagining him teething and thinking I can see teeth, but it's gotta all be in my head cause no one else can see them and I've been 'seeing' them for a good three months now
Work?? What's that?? I've hardly been at all in the past 6 weeks, between B getting sick and his surgery I think I've only worked about 5 days since mid Jan (well kinda, only in so much I don't have to go to work and can stay home with B....not so happy that it's because B is sick)
Salad - AWWWWWW that's so cute about E clapping. B shows no interest in doing anything but motoring around everywhere, chasing the dogs, me, his toys, spashing in water....basically getting up to mischief (it's SO CUTE though). He only sat for the first time today and I think that was just a fluke...he was rattling his train and then he was sitting up on his own...he looked rather shocked about it then promptly rolled onto his side and was up and off again!
Have you thought about getting a water purifier thingy to maybe make your tap water taste a bit better for both you and E? Not sure if the cheapie ones you can buy in the grocery store would work or not, but it might be worth a try?
AFU - B didn't have a temp last night, so I think the antibiotics might have his UTI under control now, which is good....but bad...means I have to go back to work next week
Let's see what's new with B? He cruises around pushing one of those walk aid things...it's a VTech and has a talking playpad thingy that clips to the front. He LOVES it...is practically inseperable from it. He's either standing up in front of it pushing buttons or motoring along behind it. He discovered the water in the bottom on the fishtanks...those had to be baby proofed quick smart as he was in splashing in them everytime my back was turned for 2 seconds. He's decided playing king of the mountain on the dogs is fun and terrorises them by climbing up over them (usually using their ears and hair as handholds much to their horror) and then straddling them on top looking/knowing he's Mr. Clever. Think that's about it.
