Chody47, nice to see you back! Sorry to hear about your DH hopefully he's on the mend quickly. I could have written EXACTLY the same thing about Sophie as you have said about Amelia. She sleeps from about 9 till 7, 40 min naps of a day, awake for 1.5 - 2 hrs. She was rolling around but has now lost interest in it and just wants to move (but cant) and she grabs toys and smacks herself in the head with them :lol: My milk supply is slowly deminishing unfortunatly and i am topping up with 150mls of formula at every feed.

sorry just a quick one today, my nan has just gone to hospital they suspect she has had a heart attack. She says shes ok and they are just keeping an eye on her.

How did you get your bubs into a routine?

Xavier put himself into his own routine during the day. I noticed that after 1hr-1.5hrs he was showing tired signs, so I'd put him to sleep for a nap and have just kept going with that. If I let him go longer he'd usually get quite overtired and be harder to settle. Although the last couple of days he's going 2hrs between naps, its really thrown me lol. His naps are usually 30-40mins, wit one or two going 45-60mins. The last two days though he hasnt wanted to nap much at all though haha.



Since my last post, we're rolling! Both ways! Although since doing it last week he hasnt really done it much since lol. He's also reaching for toys in front of him when on his tummy.

Our nights sleeps are back to awesome as well, only one or two wake ups! Although the last two days as I said above, our day naps have gone to crap. But I think it may because he wants to be up longer, this afternoon he went two hours before showing tired signs & was easier to settle. This morning he just didnt want to sleep at all.

Has anyone started bubs on solids yet? Xavier is 4 months next week, but I dont plan to start him on them just yet. My 'plan' was to exclusively breastfeed until 6 months, but I will start him earlier if he's showing signs he's ready.
What are you guys planning to do? Purees/BLW/bit of both? I'd like to do a bit of both with Xavier, mostly BLW though. Still deciding what his first food will be, its exciting to think about lol. Whether it will be rice-cereal or not, I'd probably just rather put him on proper food from the get go. But Idk for sure lol.

we let ayva get herself into a routine, she never used to sleep much during the day at all, maybe 20-30 minutes at a time, but only in the past couple days, shes been having two LONG sleeps during the day, usually the first is around 2-3 hours, the next around 1-2 hours.

:lol: thats exactly the same as Ayva! in fact she gets herself cranky on her tummy now when she wants to move rather than actually rolling herself, its only if i make her do it herself that she does it lol!

we were going to be doing the same thing shan! planning on going til 6 months + and doing baby led solids (not exclusively BLS though) but i saw something on ninemsn news about starting babies earlier on solids may help prevent allergies (link is Solids minimise baby food allergies) so i dont know! lol.. but probably wont for a couple more weeks at least anyway :) but i'd definitely prefer normal food from the get-go too! :)


AFM - ayva's sleeps havent picked up! she's been waking every 1-2 hours! and then waking up at like 8am and not wanting to go back to sleep! :/ last night however, we gave her some panadol, thinking perhaps it might be teething or something, and she slept so well! she only woke twice from 11pm-9.30am! yay! lol
we also finally got our amber teething necklace today! :dance: she's seemingly been better for it today, so maybe we might be teething here too? we'll see how tonight goes though i guess lol.

She's also started getting herself up on her knees now! she cant quite get her hands up at the same time, but she alternates between getting her knees up, and putting herself up on her arms lol, but my oh my, she refuses to rolls again now! she'd rather crack the sh*ts and cry to get moved rather than roll! lol Chody and Shan i'm glad Ayva isn't the only one who is like that!

she also loves holding on to her toys and playing with them :) loves her rattles and little circle thingys that go on the play centre lol

anyhoo, better go, little miss is getting cranky for food! lol :)

Yes!! And it has only just started happening for me too. I had it so bad when I was pregnant with Anelise but not when breast feeding her. Apparently it only usually happens during pregnancy OR feeding and not usually both. I used Nioxin and it slowed it down dramatically. I am going to be buying myself some more Nioxin this week I think ;)

I'm getting the hairloss too, I find it everywhere! I desperately need a haircut too so I dont think thats helping either lol.

Gem - I've read about starting solids earlier too for allergy reasons. My CHN has told me that even though the ABA & WHO recommend 6 months, they are starting to recommend starting earlier (from 4 months). Although I havent been able to find such a thing being said on their website. Its all so confusing lol.
I swear its hilarious how alike Ayva & Xavier are! We do tummy time a lot as he's really starting to enjoy it, but when he's had enough he cracks the *****s yet wont roll over like he was going! Lazy monkey! Thats awesome Ayva is up on her knees! Its amazing how quickly they grow.
I hope you get a good sleep from her tonight, I know how exhausting constant wakings during the night are!

I dont think we're close to teething here. Xavier drools a lot & constantly has his fingers in mouth chomping on them (or my knuckles lol), but I've read/been told it could just be developmental. Although he's had light rosy cheeks today & yesterday which I've read can be a sign of teething.
Depending on how he teeths we may or may not try the amber necklaces. DP isn't too keen on having Xavier were a "girls" necklace :rolleyes:, but I was thinking even maybe an anklet would be as good. I'm not sure though, for some reason I just dont like the idea of having to leave either of them on him all the time (or can you take them off when they aren't teething?). I'll give them a shot though if he gets bad enough to need pain relief (I'd rather try that than have to use panadol or bonjela).


Oh and I forgot to say in my last post, Xavier LOVES standing up! When I pull him into a sitting position, he'll scoot his bum under him so he'll go straight onto his feet lol.

I am losing my hair too, it's all over everything too all the time it's driving me crazy.

My lazy little miss is finally trying to roll onto her side, she isn't going all the way though yet.

She is finally starting to stretch out her day feeds to 2-3 hrs during the day which is great. I was going batty with the hrly feedings. As regards to solids, she's 4 months next week and she isn't ready yet. I started the boys about 5 months when they were starting to try and grab foods off our plate. I will probably let her lead and wait to do the same. I can't believe it's time to be thinking of solids already.

No teething here but the boys were late teethers so I hardly expect any. Ds2 has a teething necklace. You can get darker, more boyish colours. He has worn it since 5 months and he has never taken it off. We have never had any issues with it. I'll be buying one for dd soon.

Lots of hair loss here too - although I think it's the same as before I had bubs, just that I am noticing it more as I forgot how much my hair gets everywhere normally!

My little DS hasn't rolled yet, but he doesn't spend very long as on his back or tummy for me to see to be honest as it takes a good half an hour sitting up to be guaranteed he won't lose his entire feed. He can hold himself on his little fatsicle arms and grabs his toys etc, so all is as expected. I didn't use a teething necklace with my DD, we just had a few nights where she was restless so will wait and hope that DS is the same.

I have had a huge up and down week - had a good friend and a close family member were due on the same day (in a week and a bit) Thursday night my friend's waters broke as she was standing in front of me at a friends place - she was terrified but luckily as it's all pretty fresh I was able to calm her down and we rang the hospital and her DH and within 6 hours she was holding her little girl. Very exciting.

Unfortunately for my family the news was not so joyous. Without going into too much detail, she lost her baby at almost 38 weeks and had to deliver an 8 pounds 10 ounce angel baby very early on Monday morning. I couldn't sleep that night knowing what was happening and my DS was cuddled in my bed all night which i have never done before.

I feel very guilty as our babies were to be in the same year at school etc, so now am feeling like I should be hiding my DS away, which I know isn't fair or what anyone expects. I know this isn't a forum for stillbirth and I don't want to upset anyone so won't say more, other than I felt I should mention it as it's a huge part of my life right now.

On a more positive note - I am up early buying clothes at the Seed sale - DS is still waking once a night so I was up anyway so thought I should just have a peek - does anyone else have a shopping addiction for their kids? ;)

I should also mention that I often use an ipad for my computing and it's fairly hard to use without making awful spelling mistakes - so if you think I can't spell, it's not me, its the ipad!

Lairdoz, :hug: I'm so sorry to hear about the baby :cry: I don't think she will want you to hide your son away from her but maybe have the first visit with out him and ask her if she wants to see him. When we lost Riley people gave me some space then asked if i would mind if they brought their bubbas along, I actually enjoyed having a cuddle with them altho i bawled my eyes out holding them. Just see how she feels first :hug:

Lol, not until she's at least 9 months old. ;) Depending on when AF returns, of course...

We spent this week at the Ellen Barron Family Centre working on Amber's lack of napping. It was an intense week (and with only 3 hours notice since we filled the spot of a cancellation) but we made a lot of progress and she is napping in her cot as I type! I need to make sure I don't fall back into old bad habits now we're home, but I'm hopeful this will make a huge difference for us. :)

Hell no, our family is definitely complete. 3 under 4 is enough for me to juggle right now.

I wish I could take Piper to a sleep centre so we could work out her napping but the nearest place that would have one is about 600km away.

We saw an oral surgeon about piper's feeding issues but there is nothing he can do so it's either put up with how painful it is to feed her or stop breastfeeding.

This one takes patients from all over Qld and northern NSW, but luckily is 10 mins from where we live, which was why we were on the short notice list.

Sorry to hear the surgeon didn't have a solution to Piper's BF issues. Could you pump rather than stopping altogether if you feel it's too early to stop but the pain is too much? Or replace a BF or two with FF to give yourself some relief? I guess my point is it's not all or nothing.

Amber had a 3.5 hour nap this afternoon. I didn't know whether to celebrate or be worried... I know 2 hours is pretty normal for an infant, but she normally only naps 30-60 mins. She skipped an entire feed-play-sleep cycle and then didn't finish her bottle tonight, so not sure how she'll go sleeping tonight.

How many of you ladies use facebook? I was thinking of starting a private group on there for us if you's liked the idea. I just find it so hard to get on here and post. I read along but as soon as I go to reply, something comes up and I have to put it off and then I forget about it. And then when I remember again its days later!
I am always on facebook though haha. And I thought maybe a group on there we could post any problems/achievements/questions/anything! And it may be easier for people to reply to, as I know I'm on facebook and replying to things when out etc. But if you dont use facebook I can see how it would be pretty useless lol.

What a great idea.. I too find it easier & quicker on facebook than here.. I find I go to do personal's and by the time I scroll up and down to remember who's said what etc baby or other little person needs me..
