Catherine: Just thought I'd clarify from my last post to you - Phoebe is awake more than a couple of hours a day - I wasn't including feeding time, LMAO! Baby brain. The couple of hours/day is awake and not feeding time, IYKWIM.

Re the clicky hips, Natalie had an ultrasound at 7 weeks to check hers out. You can get it checked out earlier because if they are in need of treatment that can be started earlier than 6 weeks, I believe. Might be worth talking to a paed or another nurse about it. The hip joint is a heavy load-bearing ball & socket joint. A clicky hip is when the ball can click out of the socket (either a little or a lot) because the socket hasn't fully developed its cup shape. If the socket is very shallow (hip dysplasia) they put a brace on baby's legs to extend the hip joint and their thighs sit out either side of their bodies. Its usually on for about 10 weeks, until the socket develops into the deeper cup shape. From my understanding, babies aren't bothered by it - they're still not moving much at this stage so its much better to treat it early. Most drs are overcautious with checking it out though because it is much more complicated to fix if it goes undiagnosed until they get walking. Anyhoo, Natty's u/s was all clear, and probably CJ's will be too. There's a support thread on here for parents of kids with hip dysplasia if you wanted to ask any questions.
Bridg: Good on your doula for taking notes! Its so hard to remember everything hey, particularly when you can't write it all out straight away.
Naomi: Bummer about AF. Aw, how adorable that Bailey's smiling! I can't wait til I get a 'real' smile from Phoebs...Although her fake ones are pretty cute too ;)
Jacinta: Well done on the Maz covers! Had a thought - I have heard with boys that you need to "dress them down" otherwise the wee comes out the top of the nappy. You're probably already doing it, but thought I'd mention it because if SIL hadn't told me I wouldn't have thought of it myself. (Not that I need to with two girls, LOL! But it's just some trivia!)
Nicole: Welcome! As Naomi said, baby acne = very common. Natty had it for a few months if I recall correctly. Phoebe hasn't got it yet, but she probably will - she seems pretty similar to Natty in a lot of ways.
Runny poos should be normal? What were they like before? I'm a bit worried about Phoebe's poo - she only does one or two a day. I'm keen to get her weighed this week to make sure she's getting enough milk. (I'm sure she is, cause she feeds well every 2-3 hours, but I am concerned about the lack of poos!)

well another visit to the mchn today and my little fatty is now 4.96kgs or 10pd15 wow imagine if he was that big when he was born lol and hes been getting out ohhhs and ahhhs soon he'll be saying no lol and almost a smile from him hopefully soon he'll be soing it all the time lol and finally starting to be interested in toys its so awesome watchin him grow so quick now to get him to stop :lol:

Hey, Phoebe has a gunky eye. How are you supposed to get breastmilk in their eyes? Do you soak a cotton wool ball in it?

Hello, ladies :) Just noticed this here thread and decided to join in, if I'm not too late? DD2 was born May 31st at 7:37am :) Two whole weeks now, I can't believe it!
Snacks, the midwife at the hospital mentioned this to me, I was like :o - had never heard of it before. She said just hold bubs in your arm as though you're going to BF her, then give the ol' bb a squeeze and 'flood her eye' with it. Swap sides for the other eye, repeat, etc (then, presumably, go clean yourself up, if you're anything like me you're definitely going to make a mess!).:

GothMum- Hiya there. My DS was born a day earlier.
Snacks- When the twins had a gunky eye, I soaked a cotton ball in EBM and wiped the eye once from the inside out, and soaked another and did the other eye. I found that worked the best.

Don't have energy for anything long.. thought i would let you know that Jemima and I are home from hospital. We r well, although I am pretty sore. We d/c yest fro hosp after about 36hrs... I just wanted to be at home where people would help me. Not that the MW's didn't try but they don't have enough time and when you are unable to pick bubs up it is hard. Anyway DH is a Dr and my MIL is a nurse so I am getting very good care.
Will do proper birth story later but gist is, we began to labour late sat, went to birth center on sunday noon... didn't progress that night despite strong contrx... went to birth suite AROM, then tiny bit of mec stained liquor therefore they induced with sinto..... unbelieveable pain.... epidural, progress at last, then stalled again. We waited till 1003 on monday morn and then had emergency c/s.....

Have had a horrible few days with wind and belly aches, poor Bailey has been beside himself, he is a bit better today, am looking at my diet to make sure that is not the cause and spending lots of time getting as much wind up as possible
We have our 8 week immunisation tomorrow - any hints - someone told me about some numbing cream to use
Other than that all is well, haven't had much time to post as have had Bailey in my arms constantly. Am about to head out - I need to get out of the house, I have serious cabin fever
Welcome home Bella - Amy hope the BM works for Phoebe's eye - it worked for us (I just dripped some milk into his eye, very unsafisticated but hey it worked)

Naomi - apparently Emla cream can numb the area a bit before the injection - not sure how well it works though as it only (from what i've read) works as a local on the surface - from the injections i've had, it's more the fluid going in that hurts as opposed to the initial pr!ck kwim?
didnt get as much sleep last night as we've been getting - little girl just seemed to want to have snuggly feeds all night. am leaning more towards believing she has reflux... ahh well - wouldn't surprise me given family history...
not much else happening - having an easy day at home today as we're visiting work and the FS tomorrow that helped us get pregnant to show off miss E - so we're hoping she'll be in a good mood!
naomi: im my experience the babies arent 2 fazed by it i took my neice to get hers and she only had a tiny little cry and it stopped as soon as she had the oral polio i got roped into doing it coz her mummy really doesnt like needles but i dont like them much either but since being preg ive gotten used to it lol
bella: have fun with this time enjoy it coz they grow way 2 fast
afm: j got his maz nappy cover today its awesome lol i think i'm already addicted pics will be posted in his album as soon as i finished this post lol
still getting lots of ohhhs and ahhs and almost a smile today and he was mesmerised by his own reflection today

Hi Mumma's! Just wanted to drop in quickly and say Hi - I don't have much time to do personals because i have to hang washing out and what not. My gorgeous husband comes home today, so I've been a busy little bee the last few days cleaning and all that jazz. Did have Brooky weighed on Monday and she has put on 600g and 3cms longer in the last fortnight. Nurse said she's doing great and said she's happy for me not to see her anymore unless I have any questions or I want to. She was really lovely and confidence boosting! Brooky's hair has started to fall out too (Rochelle did the same thing) and it looks like a cat has been shedding it's fur in her cot and on my shirt. lol.
Just wanted to quickly say to Naomi - perhaps him being unsettled is a wonderweek - your due to have one at the moment according to my book. And I honestly wouldn't worry about the numbing cream. They handle it pretty well! And at this stage they let out a yelp, you put them on bewbie and they are over it. honestly, I think it's more upsetting for us then them. Rochelle didn't cry until the third needle at her 8 week old ones! And I'd just have some baby paracetomol or nurofen on hand incase he gets a little fever afterwards. My experience with Rochelle was pretty good, didn't effect her sleep, feeding, no fever or anything - but I know it isn't that uncommon for them to get a little fever afterwards.

God it was good to get out of the house today!! I went to the local shopping centre, ran a few errands and treated myself to lunch (and a lime milkshake - heaven!), Then decided to be pratical and go and get new tyres on the car - seeing I am transporting precious cargo!! Bailey seems much better, back to his normal self, thank god! He's sleeping longer at night which is good 4-4.5hrs between feeds but during the day the last few days he's been all over the shop as well as his general unsettled-ness. Had some great feeds and poo's today, which seem to have him much calmer and happier - was googoo and gaagaa'ing and smiling quite a bit - yaaaaah :) Playing with Dad on the playmat now - If you get a chance check out the smiling photo I uploaded to FB yesterday, the first time I have actually decently captured a smile

BG, Catherine and Jacinta - cheers for the tips. I think I might just chuck him on the boob if the injections unsettle him, easy and effective. I have some Baby Paracetemol on hand so will keep an eye out for a fever etc too - cheers for the tip there Catherine (PS you must be so excited to see DH)
Jacinta - i agree - its scary how much they grow up already isn't it? When I was in the Parents room today a Mum said to me - "Ooooh he's a newbie isn't he?" she was a bit shocked when I told her he was 8 weeks tomorrow !!
Bella - take it easy mate and accept all the help you can while you recover, great to hear you have medical help in the family, you sound like you are in great hands!
BG - just looked at the pics of E you posted on FB - she is so gorgeous, she is gonna melt some hearts I tell ya, fair haired little princess :)
Bridg - Jake and Zac are twins I assume? How old are they? Too Cute - I love all your boys names - all three were actually on my boys names list - we must share great taste!!

Amy - How's Phoebs eye? Are you getting much sleep mate? Was thinking that with her feeding 2 hourly you might be a wreck - if you are anything like me you are probably zombie like with little sleep - or are you one of those bright sparks that survives on power naps? hehehehe. naomi: do u know wats funny i get the opposite to u when i say hes almost 5 weeks ppl say he looks big i think i have a little fatty on my hands lol
snacks... yeah just get your boob and spray it in, or drop a few drops above her eye so they run in. then wipe the eyelids. it works really well, clears gunky eyes up faster than the creams and anitbiotics.
warm weather LOVELY. went to playgroup today for Q, it was hot in the sun. so nice. the other mums were complaining about the cold and i was just there thinking 'thank f**K i'm not in england! thats cold'.
yay for bella!!! finally!!!! congrats. don't worry about the CS. you will recover. just take your pain killers and if you feel sore or tired rest. it takes a good year for you to recover fullly. i am on my second CS, and only 3 weeks out and feel so much better already but i still need pain killers.
i have been ordered to go. ralie goes mad on a feeding frenzie at this time of evening. she is fed but is still crying for mORE. greedy cow. i can't stand it. my nipples are sore. i HATE breastfeeding. but i can't bring my self to switch to formula.

Raindrops - the LC i spoke to the other day said its "normal" to have a feeding frenzy around the three week mark - and Emerald is definitely proving that she's "normal" - i feel like all i've done the past 24 hours is feed her. i swear i've had my boob out at least 20 times today and it's still not enough for her. i don't think my poor boobs are having a chance to recover! we've tried everything to settle her without the boob - dummy, daddy cuddles, mummy cuddles, time outside, time laying by herself - and all we get is screaming and then doing whatever she can to nuzzle into my chest or the skin on my arms... it's depressing - i spend my time wondering if she is getting enough - thankfully she's peeing like a trooper so i'm guessing she's getting enough fluid - i'm now just worried whether the hind milk is "good enough" for her kwim?
not a lot happening here apart from feeding and snuggling. she seems incapable of sleeping anywhere apart from our arms which is very frustrating - but we're persevering. she's swaddled nice and tightly at the moment, vibrations on the bouncer, and mummy's fingers crossed that she's just talking and putting herself to slleep (daddy put her down after he got her back to sleep post feed) rather than screaming cos she's awake...
Bridg: Thanks for that. I was going to do that but ended up dribbling some milk straight in her eye a couple of times and it is much less gunky today.

Naomi: Ta for the milk trick. Worked a treat. Sorry Bailey's been in pain. I think Phoebs is struggling with the wind thing too, either that or she'd getting really overtired... I can't tell. The sleep thing is ok - it is more like every 3 hours. I'm tired, but with DH home I'm managing a nap most afternoons so am feeling human. Are you able to nanna nap? Even with Bailey going 4-4.5 hours between feeds you must be pretty tired yourself. What a gorgeous smile your little boy's got!!!
BG: Hope you've had a nice relaxing day today and that you all have a better nights sleep tonight. Your milk is perfectly good enough, but I understand the concern. I'm still worried that Phoebs isn't pooing enough and whether that's cause of my milk.
Jacinta: LOL, I've no idea how to stop them from growing up. But the good news is that each new stage brings new pleasure. They continue to delight us as they grow. Kids are amazing.
Catherine: Sounds like Brooky is doing wonderfully. I'm keen to get us to the nurse next week to see how Phoebe's weight gains are going.
Janelle: My boobs are sore too. But in a few weeks they'll calm down - its what I keep telling myself!
Have been a bit out of it today. Last night I fell asleep while burping her so we slept on the lounge for an hour, LOL! Hoping I can make it to bed for tonight's sleeps ;)
