Krystie- Awww that pic is just sooooo cute!! Your post about the vaccinations didnt get taken the wrong way. I actually agree with what u wrote.
I think I may have to look into it further about the monitors. Logan had an ok night last night. DH got up this morning and let me sleep in. He's such a sweetie. We are heading off to see 'The Olds' today, so feeding and burping duties will be fought over for the arvo.
Catherine/Krystie - the tommee tippee has the tic sound when they breathe too (which you can change the volume off or turn off) and a green flashing light too, sorry forgot to mention - handy when in the shower as you cant hear but can see - also the louder the baby is when they do make a noise the more lights come on - so has a handy visual too so can see if they are just stirring or full on crying :) Sounds like they have pretty much identical features but u only get one mat with the TT one. It freaks me out how sensitive they are to sound - I can hear Bailey fart LOL
Well re what I was telling you about Bailey not pooing every feed and when when they poo it will be massive? - It happened this morning - LOL Bailey wasn't too fussed but I was feeding him and heard (and felt) this massive pants explosion, which went all over my BF pillow - it was up his back to his neck and then leaked all over the change table - I just basically stripped everything including him and its all soaking in napisan now LOL Fun times!!!!
sounds delightful Naomi! lol
KL - gorgeous pic hun
sorry for so few persies - am having a bit of a "blah" day today. nothing in particular - just feeling run down. DD seems to have the snuffles and i have a bit of a sore throat. was worried that i may have mastitis when i started to feel flu-ish, but no boob pain and it hasn't gotten any worse. am just plodding along using strepsils for the throat hurting - and trying to keep up with fluids and stuff.
DH went away for work again last night. was a bit of a shocker of a day - had to go and pick up his truck which was 110k's away. E and I went with him then had to drive the car back home. i haven't driven since a few days before she was born. wasn't something i was keen to do (short trip would have been nice to start out!). but we survived. had crying for a few minutes to the point i was contemplating pulling up, just looking for somewhere safe - but she went to sleep. stirred each time i slowed going through town, but didn't wake up til we'd been home a few minutes. we survived!! DH went away to work again last night til who-knows-when. he was planning on leaving about 10 or 11 - plan was to drive a couple of hours, so that his 8am pick up in the morning didn't mean a super early wake up. instead, he watched the football, then decided he had to do this that and the other to get things sorted for E and I while he was away (gotta love him!). around 11, when she wasn't settling back to sleep i went and found him and told him to have a shower so that he wouldn't disturb her later on. he had a shower, then went to finish what he had to do. when he came in to say goodbye, she was still awake (rat bag!) so he had big cuddles with both of us, and i had a cry cos i was tired and didn't know how we'd cope without him - he had tears in his eyes, and took a good 40 minutes to get out of the house and on his way. he rang when he'd got where he was going just to check on us. and already today he's called at least 8 times just to check that E and I are ok. he's not coping. for me, it's not so bad - we kinda had a routine happening and DH was there to help out with meals and things - he was doing his own thing in the garden and stuff - but he could walk inside and see us. he could eat with us. he's finding it so hard already. hopefully once he gets back into the swing of things it won't be so bad! we bought a camcorder yesterday for me to record stuff, and i'll send him pics and vid on his phone occassionally. just have to get the camcorder working!
ahhh enough waffle - have baptism invites i should be assembling and getting ready to send - but of course, everytime i go to grab stuff to do it, someone stirs! mum is coming out later with bread, milk, dinner (i hope) and helping me to finish them off.
Awwwww BG HUGS - Its tough when Dad goes back to work, thinking of you and him x
Hi All,
BG- Feeling for you mate with your DH going to work!! My DH had used us half his leave by the time Jemima arrived and so he had to go back to work yest too...:( It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be for me cos i had Jem but I had tears in bed too when he left in the morning. I also sent him email pics thru the day to make sure he felt less left out cos his ph and my ph both send and recieve emails at no cost so that was good.
Naomi- LOL for your poosplosian! poor boy! One of the ladies at the ABA said that her baby got like that with his poo's too, to the point where she just stays home on a certain day each week cos she knows it is gonna be terrible and smelly and everywhere:) Oh the joys!
Brig- Hi sorry to have not greeted you till now! Welcome! I am really slack at the persies although i have promised i will do better. I got one of the angel care monitors cos we found Jem doesn't sleep well on her back and so we wanted the extra reassurance of the monitor. it does say on the instructions that it doesn't protect against sids..... however i think that they have to say that because of liability stuff. Listening to Catherines account of her experiences with the monitor makes me feel even better about having bought it!
Catherine- I have to say you are a super woman! You amaze me! You remind me of one of my best friends, she is amazing to with the amount of things she gets done in a day! She always inspires me! So good for you girl!
Krystie- I have to say after i put up my post the other day commenting about the vaccinations I felt really uncomfortable with myself..... I know that I have strongly felt views and that's ok but I don't want to be taken the wrong way either. I really feel that you are to be applauded for looking into this decision with thought! And I also think that fanatasisim on any issue is a really negative thing, so if i came accross as a fanatic I am embarrassed cos i am not:redface: I think that for every agruement for or against an issue there are times and cases and exceptions to a rule and we must judge as parents as we see fit. I really hope you can find some people who can give you a balanced view and help you make a really informed decision. I once again applaude your dedication to seeking your childs best intrest in trying to be informed. As much as each side tries to get your to percieve their view no-one should make you feel guilty regardless of your decision, and it certainly wasn't my intention to make you feel that way if I did.
AFM- Well we had another fantastic sleep last night.. nearly 7 hrs! Feel really good about that. Having a few issues dealing with my sister at the moment cos she can't seem to find anything positive to say to me..... I told her yest that Jemima slept thru the night and her response was "well that's not neccessarily a good thing!! might make you think that that will happen all the time" and " mine did that a once when they were 6 wks old and now is 6 and still doesn't sleep thru" I told her she needed to be a bit more positive and if nothing else i got a god sleep and that was good, to which she agreed. I think that she is really disappointed with me for not having a vaginal delivery...... She is very active in the local birth scene and has free-birthed at home with no MW, mcos she couldn't get one.... I
have been struggling to feel good about what happened despite the fact that i know i did my best. 36+ hrs of labour was hard work so i know that I don't have to appologise for myself, but I have been feeling short of approval. My sister talks about birth being a "rite of passage" for woman and at times I feel like she thinks i failed mine.... Sorry that's deep. Sometimes you can know things at an intelectual level- likethat you did a good job, the best you could... but you can still feel emotionally like a failure... aww i don't know...has anyone else experienced this? I feel like i was under alot of pressure to perform... please help
Bella
Hello Mummies. I'm sorry I only pop by every so often. I read far more than I post and am loving hearing how you're all enjoying your little ones. I always feel like I should do a really good extensive post with personals and since I rarely have the mental energy to go through all that you've all written (you guys are very chatty!!) and feel guilty just doing the selfish update, I say nothing. Silly Kat.
Have been on FB a bit and have posted some new pics so those who are not my FB friend already, feel free to add me (Kat Cunningham) - BG have been meaning to try and track you down on FB coz I'm dying to see some pics of Emerald!
I'll try to respond to this last page anyway...
KL - that pic is GORGEOUS. I've been loving looking at yr albums of your little guy, he's such a cutie and so very expressive. Ivy has just started smiling over the past week (at first just a random stuff like the lamp etc.) and yesterday she smiled at me for the first time. Thought my heart was going to explode!
Bridg - hi there. Welcome to our little net-posse! I look forward to hearing all about little Logan. Love the name - it was on our list if we had a boy.
Naomi - I'm with you on the GIANT poos!! As you read on FB the other day we've had the explosive ones out of the nappy and everywhere. I start to worry coz Ivy's only really pooing every few days and so after a while she starts to strain and occasionally cry out in pain. Then I just hold my breath in anticipation of the scary nappy that I know will soon eventuate. Finally happened last night, just at the conclusion to my 30th birthday party!! Nice timing kiddo!
Oh dear, Ivy's awake and grumpy. BRB
Evening ladies.
Is it ok if I have a whinge tonight? Yep good.
Well Logan is still unsettled and still having alot of wind issues. I was talking about it with Mum today, and she didnt know what to suggest since its been a long time since she had me. Anyhoo, I was flicking through the BB site, and came across some threads and posts, and alot of them suggested to others that changing to a goats milk formula helped their babies with colic, so Im thinking if it helps colic, it should help wind. Ya? Na? My whinge is, Im keen to head to the sukamarket and see if I can get some goats milk formula, but Mum and DH reckon I should wait til tomorrow after I see the MCHN. My train of thought says that if I do get the goats milk formula, and he does have a better night, that him and I will both feel better, and the poor little mite wont be uncomfortable.
So what do u wise mummies think? I havent been down to the sukamarket yet to see if they even have goats milk formula.
Sorry for not doing any personals. Will come back in later tonight when I get home, and do personals.
Ha! Much to my surprise, I made it back. Bubba is now fed and cuddled up on Daddy.
BG - sorry to hear you're feeling run-down and blah but glad you're surviving DH being back at work. The emotional rollercoaster doesn't end at birth does it? Here i was thinking it was just pregnancy that was making me moody... just add sleep-deprivation and having your heart attached to a little being on the outside and WOAH emotions galore!
Bella - you were the one who inspired me to finally post... hun, it SUCKS that your sis is being so negative and undermining your feelings about Jemima's sleeping and the birth. It's hard enough finding confidence in ourselves as new Mummies and we need encouragement and validation. And as for reconciling the birth experience, well, my heart goes out to you - what you wrote really resonated with me. I am having a lot of trouble coming to terms with Ivy's birth. I have yet to write our birth story as I really struggle to think about it and I want to write something that I'm proud of and that she'll be comfortable to read in years to come... at the moment I know I'd write something that's negative and full of disappointment and self-blame. I really wanted to have a completely natural birth and I felt that given I was in full health and there were no complications with the pregnancy etc, I should be able to achieve it. Due to Ivy's prematurity and her position I ended up having an epidural, syntocinon and forceps. I just wanted to say that I understand. I know I did everything I could the achieve a natural birth. I know that after a very long labour and complications that interventions had to happen. I can 'forgive myself' or make sense of it all intellectually, but there is a part of me that feels like i failed. Hugs to you hun. It's going to take some healing but we'll get there!
Bridg - I don't know anything about the differences between formulas and I'm not sure what might help. I think that you should go with your intuition though, and if you want to give it a try sooner rather than later, then go for it. It means that a) you'll both have a better night, and b) that when you talk to the MCHN tomorrow, you'll be fully informed - 'this is what is happening, this is what I've tried and it worked / didn't work'. Good luck, hope you get a peaceful night.
AFM - well, I'm loving Mummyhood still. Ivy is just gorgeous and still so settled and content. She rarely cries more than just a few little yells to say 'hurry up and feed me' or 'don't put me down' and is sleeping well, if only for short periods. I've struggled a bit with the fact that she's 'delayed' as although she's 8 weeks old tomorrow, she would only be 3 weeks if born on her due date. It's just meant that it's taken a lot longer for some of those early milestones to kick in and I've gotta be really careful to not compare her to the babies in our mother's grp or I start to fret. She's still feeding every 3-4 hours (some are sleeping for up to 8 hrs at night), still not really aware of her limbs or able to track very well etc. I've been HANGING for my first smile and after a few days of random smiles at lamps etc, yesterday she looked as me as I picked her up and beamed. SO beautiful. Now of course, I try to get another constantly... I need to be patient!
Gotta run, DH has cooked me dinner, wonderful man. Have a great week all!
Hi all.. just popping in quickly to say hi again.
I don't have much to write because everything is the same old here.
I've bene keeping an eye on the girls I have on FB. Your bubs are all so gorgeous!!!!! Krystie, what an awesome shot!
Nothing to report.. same old.
Have a great night all. I will come back and try to catch up when I get the chance. You girls seem to all have a good thing going that I wouldn't want to disrupt, but I do enjoy reading all about how you all are.
Have fun!!
xxoo
Bella: Oh yes, do get some professional shots taken! My problem is that DH is a photographer, so I sort of have to wait for him to get his act together before we get any photos done  Sometimes I wish I could just phone up a studio and book in a time, LOL!
Awesome that Jemima is giving you some good sleep! I'm sorry that your sis isn't being supportive. Perhaps you could drop in to the birth debriefing section? There are some awesome chicks in there who may be more equipped than us to offer you some understanding, validation & support, as they've been there themselves...
Catherine: Hope you enjoyed your dinner last night and that brekky was good this morning. I angled Phoebe on her side to sleep this morning - I don't think she'll be a tummy-sleeper, but she slept for a while quite happily on her side.
Bridg: Phoebe has only done a couple of 4-hour stretches between feeds, but I'm hoping she'll start to do it more often, LOL! Last night and the night before I had a 3-hour sleep and it is sooooo much nicer than the 2-hour ones I've been getting! Hope Logan continues to feed more efficiently for you.
Krystie: I'm sure you're right - I probably don't sleep all that deeply. It's just that I amaze myself with how quickly I fall asleep atm! I am just so tired.
I am pro-vacc, and no offence taken here :)
GORGEOUS photo of Kyson!
Naomi: OMG, how hilarious re the poo-splosion! I remember that happening with Natty a fair bit. The worst was when it was in the car ;)
BG: Sounds like you've been doing fine without DH. I am dreading mine going back to work next week. He is actually going to Melbourne for the day on Tues, so that'll give me a practice run, I spose.
Agh, I've got to go - Phoebe has FINALLY settled, so I'll try to get a little sleep while I can. But it's great to hear from you, Kat - I have been wondering how you're doing. Will be sure to post again soon. xx to all.
hey everyone
hope everyone is having an awesome time with their bubbas coz i know i am
amy: lol at ur DH i almost had some pics taken of bub yesterday but decided against it coz i have some awesom pics of him i decided to wait till hes a bit older and their more fun photos of him sleeping just dont appeal to me
krystie: love the smile J has started smiling now 2 yet to catch it on camera though
afu: im getting one 5 hour stretch every night which is awesome but i should be sleeping now coz i think hes having that sleep now lol and cant get enough of my little boy and cant stop taking pics of him and posting on facebook
hope everyone else is doing awesome xoxo
hey bridg,
I don't have any really wise advice but i would say this.... we used to get alot of babies come into emergency who's parents were worried cos bubs tummy really upset... my 1st question was have u changed formula or from breast to formula recently, cos the majority of times they would say yes and so I think u need to be careful about swapping cos it may cause a bigger problem.... or it may not. plus if ur nurse tommorow suggests a change to something specific then u have to change again and that may undermine success. However i too have hear that goats milk is the closest thing to breast milk and so is really good so i can't tell u what to do u r gonna have to go with what u think best... My only suggestion is to perhaps call a help line????? Have you got any ph no's for any resources in your area that might help? I don't know if ur currently BF or on bottle, cos the ABA hotline might help if ur BF or in Queensland we have 13health....although i think they r often touch and go depending on who u get...... I hopethat helps... maybe just more confusing?
Good Luck! Really hope you and your bub work something out.. it is terrible to see them cry..
Kat: I'm sorry that you are disappointed with Ivy's birth. I do understand (as much as I am able) that even though you'd be able to rationally accept what happened, there would be an element of grief there. A sense of loss for an experience you dreamed would be different. I hope that you are able to work through those feelings of failure though - you most definitely didn't fail!
Same goes for you, Bella. You girls gave birth to your little darlings under challenging circumstances and you are to be congratulated.
Bridg: can you ask the ladies in the bottle feeding support? I'd probably wait and talk to the MCHN first if it were me. But it is totally your call of course.
Jacinta: Good idea - once he is sitting up and smiling at toys etc you'll get some awesome pics.
OK, she's settled again, lol! Will post again in the morning.
Wow. CRAP night last night. Am so shattered. Phoebe drives me nuts when she decides she just needs to be awake. She's been having only tiny naps since about 5:30am. Which sucks for me, cause I'd just manage to fall asleep and she'd wake and grumble and cry. She is still only wanting to feed 2-3 hourly, just wants to be awake. WTF?!?!? I have actually been trying to cuddle her and rock her to sleep for the past hour and a half so I can go back to bed (DH taking Natty to childcare) but she will look like she's about to drop off and when I put her down she is bright eyed again! I have put her down on the floor to kick about for a while cause I was going mental pacing the floors.
What's the deal with my kid? Why won't she sleep?
Just a quick update.
I went to the sukamarket last night, and got some goats milk formula. OMG! It made such a difference. He burped really well, settled really well, and even slept for 5 hrs! He's now having 3+ hrs between feeds and is heaps happier.
I went to the MCHN this morning, and I told her. She was very happy with my decision, and is happy for him to stay on the goats milk formula. Im actually able to put him down in his pram or basinette, and actually get something done around the house.
The MCHN asked me if his poo had changed colour since changing his formula, and it has, so she said that is a sign that he is tolerating it better. I could tell after the 1st 2 bottles that it had made a difference. I dont even have to put the wind drops in anymore. that he continues to keep going this way.
Fantastic news Bridg. Fingers crossed this is the new 'normal' and that Logan continues to enjoy his goat's milk!
ah ive finally got a chance to say hello lol been a bit full on the last week or so. Andrew is doing fine has his moments but hey im cool with that ( sleeping @the moment) Ashy is good has a runny nose but so do half of his playgroup lol AFM: im doing well had my first test today i did badly 13/30 right so boo too me lol I am thinking of maybe getting some part time work some where, but i duno if thats me taking on too much. Krystie: how r u going? all is well i hope.
BG: how is the bf going is it getting any better for u?
Snacks: maybe she just likes seeing u. she might like her awake time.she sleeps k during the night right?
