Hey all. Just popping in to say hi... as usual reading much more than posting. I don't know how you do it! Just really wanted to send big hugs your way Vic. That really sucks. I guess it's good that there is something they can do about it, but you can't explain to an uncomfortable little girl that it's 'for her own good'. :( . My friend's little boy is in boots with a bar in between them to turn out his feet (due to having 'club-foot' in both) and he's so good about it. Hopefully CJ will cope just as well.
Also wanted to say Naomi, I hear you on the feeding frenzy!! Ivy has been letting me have a big sleep at nigh thankfully, but through the day it's NON STOP. To the point that I'm having trouble going anywhere because she cries in the car, wanting the next feed even if I fed her just before we left. AARRGGHH!! GL with trying formula. I tried that the other night in desperation and Ivy just screwed up her face in disgust and wouldn't take it. I was kinda disappointed and quietly happy at the same time! Lucky we only had free sample packets and hadn't invested in a whole container. Sometimes I give her EBM top-ups too which can help but she's also getting fussy about taking the bottle at all. Oh it's nice to know that she thinks that boobies are best but when I can't even go to the toilet in peace.... REALLY!!!! Just take the bottle and sleep girl!
Thankyou all for your encouraging words in response to my last post. Ivy's been giving me a little more eye contact and more smiles in my general direction so I'm fretting less. (Still a bit though). The MCHN seemed quite happy with her at our appt today. There's certainly nothing wrong with her ability to grow! 59cm long and 5.4kg. She weighs twice what she did when she was born!

Thanks for all the support - being a mum is hard sometimes. I will be happy once we have an appointment to see someone and get the harness on, the quicker it is on the better and am sure she will adapt to it fine and it be off in no time - my aim is for it to be off by 3rd October when we fly to the UK. CJ was grouchy yesterday evening - picking up on my stress I expect as DH was working lates so I didn't get to see him till he got in at nearly midnight - he is going to switch shifts if necessary when we get an appointment next week - which will make things easier - he makes me feel much better about it all. There are so many worse things that can happen - and at least has been found early so should be easier to fix.
Apparently it is more common in first born girls - I wonder why first born?
Amy - on the poo front, definate reduction in number of poo's but still getting one a day from CJ - yesterdays just as we were about to go for ultrasound and it required full clothing change!!!!
I had my ultrasound this morning, and no nasties (as the sonographer put it) and thinks the pain may be due to strained ligaments around my uterus - need to discuss the results with the doctor but is a great relief! The thrush tablets seem to have done the trick and although my nipples are still a bit sore there is no deep pain in the boob like there was.
Naomi, Krystie - thanks for tips on expressing going to try tomorrow.
Oh the gorgeous girl has just woken up and is now requiring food. Hi to everyone.
Bailey seems to be settling down on his feeding front (THANK GOD). I was just talking to DH about it and he suggested to express and he'll feed, but its so much more efficient to just feed as it takes me a few sessions to express enough so it will take more time not less. Kat - I'm not going to try formula at this stage as I dont want to potentially turn him off the breast (I think that was my desperation talking)
Yesterday I actually sat on my couch and cried for an hour with him in my arms crying and I couldn't get him to stop crying - I am tearing up thinking about it, yesterday was a VERY difficult day.
He is currently in his cot Faffing about abit (not crying) as I wrapped him and put him down for a sleep. I can hear him fighting with the wrap trying to get his hands out - LOL. I'll leave him to it, the energy it takes might make him more sleepy
Just when you think you have this motherhood gig sussed, your baby knocks you down a peg or two LMAO :)

Amy - Kyson goes days without pooping. It's not uncommon for him not to poo for four days, and then I expect a mega explosion, but it's just a normal size poop of normal breastmilk runny consistency. The paediatrician told me that it's normal and that it means that Kyson is pretty much using up all the breastmilk for growing.
Vic - Oh honey I am so sorry to hear that little CJ is going to need to wear a harness. You must be devastated, but at least it is something you can fix while she is little. I think my sister had to have her legs and hips all strapped up shortly after she was born. Back then they strapped her up in a cot thing and she couldn't even move. I'm guessing that these days technology has improved significantly and CJ will cope wonderfully. We're all here for you and you and CJ will fly through this process . Much love to you both xoxox

Cathy - How sad you had to do the heel test again. It's traumatic enough (for the parents, lol) the first time around!
Naomi - Don't know what was up with the moon or the tides last night, but Kyson was fussy all night too! He didn't cry, he was just awake and moving around the whole time. I had to keep popping his dummy in every time he spit it out to settle him. Luckily DH is home today and took him for about an hour and a half this morning and I was able to catch a couple of zzz's.
I've had a couple of those cries when Kyson has been inconsolable. I know that we do everything possible to soothe them, but sometimes they just seem to need to cry it out. It doesn't stop me from feeling that I'm failing as a mother for not being able to make him happy. Totally not true, but someties it's hard not to feel that way. I know we are all wonderful mummies though :)
Niadla - It must have been lovely for your overseas relo's to meet and get to cuddle Allira! And it sounds like Allira was in fine form to let someone cuddle her for four hours straight!
Kat - Oh I hate the screaming in the car. I feel so helpless. Kyson mainly does it when we come home in the evenings during the period when he's often restless anyway. He gets so overwhelmed that he won't even take the dummy and I end up leaning one hand over the front seats so that I can try to hold his dummy in and stroke his face at the same time. Poor little tykes.
I'm glad to hear that Ivy is engaging eye contact with you more and more. It's absolutely lovely isn't it?!
Kyson had his first bottle of EBM today. DH and I were curious to see how much he was drinking at each feed, and also to see if he would drink ok from a bottle in case it was ever needed. He drank perfectly fine from the bottle, and it made me cry. I got a little sad because even though it was breastmilk, he wasn't feeding from me and it got me a little upset. It's not something we plan on doing regularly though, so I'm ok now :) He only drank about 100ml though and that doesn't seem like terribly much. Should he be drinking more than that each feed?
Also, hi to everyone else. I hope you and your gorgeous babies are all doing fantastic. It's great to see photos on facebook too!

I got internet back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! so excited,mind you it takes almost as long to post when u do it one handed!!! The guy came to just check the external lines but felt kind and fixed the internal prob anyway.... or at least mostly. He said he would come back on sat and replace the sockets... ill buy him some rum to say thankyou cos he is doing it for free!
Naomi- so sorry to hear about bailey being inconsolable... not nice feeling is it. J got really distressed last night too. I think it was cos she went to sleep and when she woke was so dirty in her nappy i decided to bath her cos she was due for one anyway. anyway she was hungry but i thought cos i had her clothes off i would just do it. her dad was out and whilst i taught him how to bath her and always do it with him it was the first time i have bathed J. suffice to say it ended with her screaming, and me distressed. not sure if i had it too hot or she was just ****ed cos she was hungry, but putting her nappy on never took so long! she was so distraught. mind u it stopped when she was on the boob.
Vic- glad to hear you are keeping ur chin up, being positive even when it's hard helps and we r all cheering for u and CJ. kids r amazing at how well they cope with new situations, it will prob take you longer to adapt.
Kat- congrats on the growth spurt and on Ivy making more eye contact! yay! DH told me this morning he had his first real proper interaction with Jemima. She has been starting to coo and had a 5 min conversation with him much to his delight!
Cath- Sorry to hear you had to have the heel ***** repeated!!! I am not looking forward to jem's vacinations at all. you would never know i spent a large part of my career holding babies still for painful procedures the way a chill of aprehension goes thru me at the thought!!
Krystie- I hear you on the crazy night last night!! J spent all night pawing me no matter how much i fed her. She didn't cry, she just didn't settle... was knackered here this am, and it continues today... fed sleep feed sleep!! J also does the same thing in the car and I also find myself with a hand thru the back with my finger in her mouth. I have heard said that a baby drains a breast much more efficiently than a breast pump does and so Kyson prob gets heaps more than that. We do the same with expressing for the occassional morning feed for when I'm knackered and whilst I only get 80-100 off a breast she generally has most of that from her dad but refuses a little at the end and will still happily come in to me for heaps more straight after. I don't think she likes the bottle, which is nice to know:)
AFM- well my DH says he expectsw to not see me for 8hrs now that the internet is back on. LOL prob true. I am a little tired mostly accumulative from over a long time, I was a serious sleeper prior to pregnancy:) Am gonna get platinum membership and sort out an avatar, how exciting!

to everyone else - i am sooooo unable to post persies - my brain feels fried! i just had mum here for a few hours just to hold E while i was doing stuff - was really helpful. i couldn't even think while she was here though - we were trying to work out what still needs to be done for the baptism - hopeless!! don't think it helps that DH is having some work issues (related to the stuff that happened while i was pg) again today - he's shirty, and ready to quit his job cos of the way they're being treated - not by his boss - by the bloody coppers! grrrrrr. soooo grumpy - i wanna take them on myself. meeting with the boss tomorrow and there will be some shiate hit the fan if the boss doesn't wear a fine that DH copped seeing he asked DH to do it and agreed to cop the fine if he got one!
Miss E is STILL pooping massive amounts several times a day - though it's not every nappy now! yay! she's peeing heaps and is putting on weight - my content little girl is layingin her bouncer, kicking about like a loon, big smiles all over the place - it's gorgeous
ooh, and she self settled herself for a day sleep today - only a short one (about half hour) - but she slept in the hammock for the first time - i'm a happy mummy - she seemed to like it (played for about 20 minutes before she slept!)
I'd love to try to have a meet up with the Vic girls and babies. Maybe we could all post where we live and we can try to work out somewhere convenient. I live in Caroline Springs :)
i'm in latrobe valley so i'm gonna have to travel no matter what - as long as it's an early arvo thing it should be ok - E travels pretty well - but i'm not sure on doing two hours each way with her - esp if i'm solo
I am in Camberwell Melbourne, would love a meet up as long as is not in October when I am in the UK!, happy to drive an hour or so for somewhere that is convenient for all, and see a different part of Victoria.
Have had some responses in the hip thread that make me feel a bit better and confident that will get the harness on quick. Off into work today to show off CJ and pick up supplies from staff shop - back later.
I'm in Croydon - outer east. Hmmm this could be tricky. Especially when we need somewhere where we can all easily feed and pop babies down to play etc., so someone's house would be ideal. Who lives closest to the middle of us all? (I'm more than happy to volunteer my place, but not sure if that works for all of you)

On another Note: Someone is building up my supply...... Cluster feeding between 7am and 12 noon and then feeding every 2 hours. No complaints though, because I still get my 10 hours overnight. Just funny when you can hit the wall on the other side of the room.....:lol:

Krystie: Thanks for the poo reassurance. I am sure Kyson drinks a lot more than 100ml at a time. Maybe sometimes he will have more and sometimes less. I'm inclined to believe that babies are quite like us in their eating habits - sometimes they want a snack, sometimes a large meal, sometimes a smaller one... Anyhoo, it's good to know he will take a bottle if you need him to.
Naomi: Amen, preach it, sister. They do knock you around, these little people. But good on you for pushing through it. Phoebe goes crazy just about every night for a couple of hours before settling down. I have never heard a little baby scream and cry so much. And there's nothing either DH and I can do for her except hold her and cuddle her and wait for it to be over and for her to crash. She doesn't want the boob, she is just mega tired and can't work out how to sleep. It sucks, and I often end up a bit teary myself. Good to hear that Bailey is doing better now.
Vic: Interesting that the hip dysplasia is more common in firstborns. I too wonder why that would be? I'm thrilled that you are getting some responses on the hip forum too.
LOL @ CJ choosing the waiting room to deliver a poo package. Phoebe did the same thing yesterday at the drs!
Kat: So glad Ivy is doing so well! Natty didn't take a bottle either. I tried when she was about 6 months old with formula because I'd gotten desperate about sleep and wanted to see if the formula would carry her through for longer (she was waking 1-2 hourly!). She just fiddled around with it in her mouth. I understand that bittersweet feeling of it.
Nicky: We're not really TT properly - Natty hasn't even done a wee in the toilet yet, so Lachie is ahead of her there! I am getting a bit tired of negotiating at nappy change time and sometimes I wonder if it'd be easiest to just bite the bullet and give it a go. Maybe in a couple of weeks.
Sorry about the food thing. I do a similar thing with Natty and we have had a couple of successes, but mostly she's still very fussy. I wish I had some sort of solution to offer, but we are definitely in the same boat as you.

Ok, back now - one feral is in bed asleep, one is in my arms on the way to sleep.
We had our appt with our gp yesterday and as I mentioned Phoebe broke the poo strike in the waiting room, five seconds before the dr called us in LOL! And she's pooed another three or four times since then, so the drought is definitely over. As for the stink, well, I got myself a bit of a tummy bug the night before last so I wonder if Phoebs had it too and the bug was causing the stink... She smells fine now.
Questions for you all:
1. Does your baby have a milky white tongue?
Phoebe does and the dr told me she has thrush and gave me a script for nilstat. I don't think its thrush. I recall Natty having a similar looking tongue at this age. Plus surely if she had thrush I'd have it on my nipples? I don't.
I'm not going to give her the nilstat... I don't think...
2. When do you find time to DTD?
We haven't yet :redface: Each night I think, yup, tonight we'll go for it. Then I crawl into bed after 10 once P has finally settled and I am asleep before I can either nudge or wink.
3. Anyone else weird in the guts since having bubs?
I am really struggling with my tum... and my bum. Suffice it to say that I have been instructed to sit in salt baths each night and hope things will heal up soon :(
OK, P is getting twitchy and I'd really like to be in bed before 10, so I might go and do some rocking. Talk to you all later!

Amy- Yay for Phoebe doing a poo, but bummer aboout the time and place. In answer to ur q's.
1- Yep Logan has thrush in his mouth too. He has it in the sides of his mouth, on his tongue, gums, and roof of his mouth. I tried Nilstat too, but it made it worse. I did buy some Daktarin, but havent used it yet, and it seems to be clearing up.
2- DTD, we have tried once, but yeah, it sorta hurt so we stopped. Poor DH.
3- I get a few niggles in the tummy, and the hooha area, but the gyno said everything had healed, so Im guessing its my body getting back to normal.
Naomi- Hell yeah Im for a catch up when ur over this way. Id love to come to Adelaide one day, but when the kids are older.
Nicky- Of course u can come over. Ur welcome anytime.
AFU, Logan power chucked out his mouth and nose today, the poor little mite. Then 5mins later, FIL knocked on the door, so I changed Logan, left him with FIL while I had a shower. He also brought lunch over, which was handy, coz the boys were hungry right there and then. It was good to have a shower without worrying about Logan being upset. He was a little bit off for the rest of the day, but is now happily sleeping in my arms.
Amy - E has the milky white tongue - MCHN said it was cos she's a bit of a chucky bubba and it's milk residue - when she's just had a feed and hasn't chucked, her tongue is fine so that's what i go on. i think it's mainly when it gets to the side of their mouth that it's a problem. she doesn't seem bothered by it. i do have some stuff here to use if it starts bothering her. i've been taking a probiotic to make sure i don't get thrush so i'm thinking it might help her...
we've had a grizzly little poppet this morning. not sure what it was that we ate yesterday that didn't agree with everyone but we've all been gassy little peeps this morning - but for her it has seemed pretty bad - we've managed to get her to release a LOT of wind this morning (and a few decent poops) so she's much happier than she was - but very tired - our night sleeper got one stretch of about five hours then no more than 45 minutes a couple of times. at the moment, she's laying in her swing, watching the animals spin over her head. and talking her little head off!
ooh, DTD wise - after the early morning feed works for us! not often, but it works... or if DH is going to work at night neither of us sleep real well when E first goes to bed soooo....
With the milky white tongue, I remember being told if you could gently scrape the residue off with your finger, it's just milk, if not, It's probably thrush. Hope that helps. We haven't had to worry about that just yet..... touch wood.
Allira had her first big bath with mummy last night. She absolutely LOVED it, so the baby bath is now the boys new beer bath. LOL No other uses for it as there will be no more kidlets born from this uterus. LOL
As for DTD.... I feel like a goose, but we haven't yet since I had Allira. I think the main reason is because we are super scared that I will get pregnant again, and if that happens, we wouldn't end the pregnancy. That little .1% chance of pregnancy related to all contraceptives is such a worrying number to us at the moment.......
Poor Hubby. He's just as keen as I am at the moment. haha.
Anyway, off to shower before the go karts get here and it's complete mayhem.

We have an appointment at the royal childrens on mon at 8:30 - I am so happy we are now on way to getting her hip sorted. Also from the brief phone conversation sounds like wont be pavlik harness but another type not quite so restrictive. I am making a list of questions so dont forget anything. I think we will now have to get pram as the hugabub might be too awkward but we shall see - we were going to get one at three months anyway.
Amy - I had thrush in my nipples but when doc checked CJ mouth she said no signs although it does look white - she said the same as Nicky about if can not scrape off is thrush. I was taking nilistat, and also just put a little daktarin on my nipples just really to make sure she didn't get the thrush.
Nicky - CJ loves having baths with me but haven't mastered doing it when just the two of us yet, I need someone to and her in and out - can you do on your own? Any tips?
DTD have managed a couple of times, as had c-section is just a scheduling issue that has prevented more often - oh and my parents staying with us for three weeks - now CJ is getting more predictable seems to be easier to fit in though - e.g. now I know that most times when put her down at 9:00pm she will stay asleep till at least about 3:00am.
I am going to sign up for platinum too, the site has been such a help want to contribute to keeping it going.
Amy - re DTD, we have done it a few times, either we are too tired, or Bailey decides its a good moment to cry ...............LOL. I think both of us have a pretty low sex drive currently. Bailey's tounge is more red that white, but after a feed its 'milky', the the 3rd - no issues here any more
Vic - you did well wth your one handed typing. Sounds good that the harness wont be so restrictive, what pram are you going to buy?
Bridg - Doh re the power chuck! Hope Logan hasn't had any more.
BG - does E have one of those jungle swings with the animals?
AFU - I am off to a triple baby shower for some of my IVF gal pals shortly although one of the Mums has pulled out as she has been exposed to swine flu - poor bugger, she doesn't want to expose the other mums to be incase she is infected, poor bugger. Tonight we are going to DH brothers house which should be interested as DH and his brother have had some issues in recent years (which the MIL has contributed to), and the BIL and family hasn't even met Bailey yet. Hoping it all gets sorted out tonight as there seems to be a genuine want on each side to mend the relationship - Yaaaaaaaahhhhh!
Bailey has settled back into skipping a feed at night - so he has a deep sleep for about 5 to 6 hours when we put him down, then reverts back to 3-4 hourly for the rest of the night, it means I have now gone back to having 2 nights where I am getting big chunks of sleep, and what a difference a good nights sleep makes

Naomi - i have a papasan swing for E - it has a mirror over her head with butterflys and leaves tht move when it's turned on - she seems to like it - not sure if it's the mirror where she can beak at herself or the moving critters though!!
not a lot happening here - she still has a tummy ache so after short sleeps she's waking up in pain and hates letting it go - it's definitely a work in progress to get her to burp - even farting is an issue today (sooooo not normal for my little fluffa bum!)
amy- j had thrush but it was more on the sides and behind the lips not so much on the tongue its finally cleared up
DTD weve dont it a few times but we keep getting interupted oh and AF returned this week so none this week and i was having cramps and pain below but thats gone away since AF returned

Well it seems everyone is getting inspired to go platimun, can't wait to see all the avatars! I feel this sight has been great for me too. I feel less isolated because of it but I am also aware that we have a really positive supportive group here. I went to visit the group due after me when I was still preg and you all had bubs and I really didn't like them.... Sorry that sounds so bad. but they just sounded whingy and negative. I like the fact that here everyone does it differently and asking q's is not considered rude or critical.. i can't count the extra bits of info or alternative ways of doing things i have learnt just by listening to you all. So :grouphug:
Vic- can I suggest a pram? We got the "baby jogger city elite". it is really cool cos you can fold it with one hand... thats what i love about it but I really didn't look at alot after we saw that one.

Can i ask a silly q. what does AF stand for? i get that it related to period but what do the a and f stand for.. same with DH. i get that that means husband but what does the D stand for..

Some of you already know this because I posted it on facebook, but, Kyson slept in his cot for half of the night last night for the first time ever. We have the cot attached to our bed with one side off, but up until now Kyson has been in the bed with us sleeping in my arms, and I've been using the cot as a bedside table with his nappies, wipes, dummy etc on it. But last night I thought I'd see how he would go if I tried to put him to sleep in his cot. He fell asleep feeding in bed, so I just moved over and slid him into the cot and tucked him in. He was a little restless, so I just lay with my head on the cot matress with him and stroked his face until he fell back to sleep. I was so sure that he would wake up upset after 10 minutes, but he ended up sleeping for 3 hours! I was torn between being happy that he could do it, but sad that he wasn't sleeping in my arms. After his feed at 2am I popped him back in the cot, but he was fussing for quite a while, so I pulled him back into bed with me and he fell back to sleep. If I had persisted with him in the cot he may have fallen back asleep, but I missed him! We might try a new routine where he sleeps in his cot for the first half of the night and then in bed with us for the rest for now.
Niadla - It's crazy how far we can squirt milk when we're engorged isn't it?! I find that it squirts even further when y breast are warm, like after a shower or bath. One time Kyson and I were in the bath and I called me DH in and said "watch this!" and I squeezed my breast and squirted the mirror from the bath, LOL!!! How fun are the big baths though?! Kyson loves to have a feed in the bath. The only problem with that is that sometimes while I'm feeding him in the bath he decides to do a nice big poo. Then we very quickly relocate from the bath to the shower :ROFL:
Amy - Thanks for your reassurance about how much Kyson is drinking. I got a little concerned when he only drank 100ml, but you are probably right and maybe he was having morning tea instead of lunch ;)
I can't help you much with the white tongue thing. I haven't experienced anything like that with Kyson. Does Phoebe ever drink from a bottle? A friend of mine's baby got thrush and they thinkit came from now sterilising the bottles long enough. My mum told her to boil them for at least 10 minutes rather than the 5 minutes that is recommended. But if Phoebe doesn't have bottles then I'm not sure...
DH and I have only DTD twice so far. The first time was a little painful (so luckily DH was quick because it had been a while, lol!) but the second time was a lot better. It's mostly a lack of time and energy that prevents us. Oh, and the fact that Kyson is co-sleeping. The times we have done it we have popped him in his swing outside our bedroom door (which is the study).
And lastly, I haven't been having gut problems, but I do sometimes get an ouchy bottom. I got some lovely haemorrhoids after the birth which thankfully were never painful or itchy. The only time I had a problem was when I went to the toilet for number 2's, and then it hurt a bit. Sometimes they still seem to pop out sometimes with number 2's, but nothing very bad. It's such an embarassing thing to discuss with anyone though. It seems to be one of those things that all women experience after a vaginal birth, but never talk about lol.
Naomi - Good to hear that things are "back to normal" :) I love looking at your photos on facebook. Such a happy little baby!!!
Bridg - Ewww, the power chuck sounds delightful! Poor little man. Good thing your FIL came over so you had a chance to clean yourself up. Kyson is not much of a chucker, but if he must I prefer for him to vomit straight after his feed rather than 10 minutes or more later. At least straight away it just smells like milk. The ones that come later have that lovely curdled look and have such a wonderful aroma, hehe.
BG - I hope little E's tummy is feeling better. Kyson had a period this after noon where he just keep farting and farting. I have no idea how he had so much air inside him! Hopefully you will both get a much better sleep tonight. E was starting to be a good little night sleeper, so fingers crossed she maintains the trend :)
Vic - Good luck with your appointment on Monday. It sounds promising that CJ might be ablet o have a less restrictive harness. And sweetheart you are right to be happy that you are able to fix it nice and early for her :hug:
Jacinta - I've just started putting Kyson in 00 tops. He still fits the 000, but I tend to dress him in a long sleeve romper and then put a long sleeve top over it. And I was finding that it was getting difficult to put the 000 tops over the long sleeves of the rompers because they were starting to feel tight on his arms. So now he's wearing the 00 tops even though they are a bit big on him. Our bub's are growing way too fast!!!
Bella - Thanks for the love you were giving us in this thread :hug: I tested the water in the thread for babies born the same time as Kyson, but it just wasn't the same as posting with you lovelies!
