E has grown heaps in the past few weeks - she got a little outfit from her secret santa from the main BB site - the skirt was almost dragging on the floor when she got it - now it's a good couple of inches off the floor. admittedly it may have been sitting a bit low on her hips first time, but this was a significant difference!
oh, and she can steal food from the kitchen bench now too - c was cutting up carrot the other night, turned around to stir some food, and came back to find her munching on a bit of food. good thing he's already in the habit of putting knives into the middle of the bench...

DH often tosses his wallet and keys on a table we have in the entrance of the house and P can now reach it. (It's lower than a kitchen bench or dining table.) I caught her the other day and she had unpacked some coins from his wallet. Of course I told her she was a silly girl and should go for the notes but she outwitted me then by picking out the plastic. She is a clever cookie after all!
did she swipe his pin number too?? lol
CJ can swipe off benches too, and has fascination with emptying wallets. I bribed her to be behaved on train other day by giving her a five dollar note - she was so pleased! Need to get her a piggy bank.
Any advice on sidecar or bassinet for new Bub, we are short on space and I can't cope with co sleeping full time mainly due to dh back. Bub will have to be in our room initially as only two bedrooms, but cj went straight into full size cot so a bit clueless. Also need to work out about pram/stroller that will take two fit in a corolla and go on public transport, prob am dreAming about tram but train at least. Will use a buggy board on back of maclaren for shorter outings and carry little one too but think will need something else? Any suggestions wise mums?
Wise? your not talking bout me then lol my pram would only fit on a train bus maybe tram no way I have a strider plus but maybe a phil&teds double pram will be not as wide basinet well jazzy refuses to sleep in hers I think it's just not comfy enough she sleeps in her rocker mostly but when we move I'm gonna try and get her in the cot coz she's decided 10-6 is a nice sleep it's nice for me too lol

just wanted to add. Andy is a climber and i learnt the hard way yesterday that he can climb to rech the sink, which had water in it...needless to say my floor was very wet lol
He also climbs on the table to sit in his highchair lol
BG, he's wrapped around her finger. I've no doubt she will be able to get it out of him ;)
Vic, Nat was still in the cot when Phoeb was born. I got a hammock for Phoebe and I'm glad I got it 2nd hand as she hardly slept in it at all. TBH, she was in a port-a-cot for the first 5 months of her life! She slept much better in that than the hammock so we just stuck with it. Then Nat transitioned to the bed so the cot became Phoebe's. We have another travel cot for when we actually wanted to sleep her somewhere when we were out (which was pretty infrequently anyway).
We have the P&T Dash doubles stroller. Just fits width-wise into our Corolla. Not sure of the width by comparison to say the strider, but would be happy to measure it up for you if that would help. I must admit I get stroller envy whenever I see a strider plus! They look awesome. But I'm glad I've the doubles kit and not only a skateboard - a toddler will get on the skate board if they are happy to... but you can actually strap them in to a toddler seat. They can't just wander off that way. I'm fairly sure the resale value is pretty good (hoping, LOL!) but the initial outlay was around $750 incl the doubles kit so not particularly cheap.
Why is it that Phoebe can sleep in until around 8am on a school day or the day we have to drive the car to the mechanic early for it's service and yet on a Saturday morning when we don't have to be anywhere, and after she woke twice overnight requiring cuddles, water, cuddles, fan off, fan on, cuddles, etc, she wakes at sparrows fart and is immensely cross and cranky because of it?!?

E isn't interested in TV yet - she will jive along to music, but TV is meh - probably helps that we simply haven't thought to put kids TV on for her yet lol
Thanks for the info Amy on the pram (useful info about the P&T just fitting in the Corolla) and sleeping situation. We don't have a portacot so still undecided about what to do I am now thinking maybe can fit the cot into our room, and put CJ into big bed a few months before this one arrives - that way don't have to decide on anything apart from what to sleep CJ in. My mum is going to come over for about 7-8 weeks over period new one is due, and she will have to share with CJ - will be good having her around for CJ but a two bed flat is not great for visitors - if my dad pops over to say hi to the new bub too will be very cramped! Oh CJ is very good at getting up early on days I don't work, and laying in when I need her up too (DH thinks should lie to her about what is happening the next day and see what happens).
J - thanks also for Strider Plus suggestion - I need to go somewhere and check these and the P&T's too.

With CJ I didn't buy till she was 10 weeks or so old, so did little pram research last time as I knew just wanted lightest possible and had heard good things about the Maclarens.

Hi to everyone else - and thinking of you Nicky with all the flood dramas.
Our rolla is a 2008 Conquest (hatch)... Not sure if all the different models are slightly different sizes. No doubt hatch is less roomy there than sedan of course. The shop where we bought it let us take the display model stroller out to the car and make sure it fit! It literally touches the sides, it is that tight.
Your Maclaren is great! The P&T at least would be much heavier, sadly.
Don't know much about moving a 'littler' kid into a bed, although I know loads of people who've made that transition with a 1yo. Does CJ still not move much in her sleep? That'd work in your favour.
Awwww Nicky - I hope you are going ok, have you lost everything? Babe - I dont know what to say :( Anything you need, and I mean ANYTHING, just let me know, clothes, toys for the kids etc - I am on it!!
Vic - our transition to a 'big' peoples bed went amazingly well. As our house is quite open plan though we have put safety gates in the hallways otherwise if Bailey gets up before us (which is standard) he will be climbing on furniture and sticking forks in power points :o With the gates he can only come into our room
i was speaking to Nicky earlier, and she thinks she everything is gone but can't get back in to check for quite a while yet. She is ok for clothes and stuff for now - no where to store anything at the moment even if we wanted to send stuff

well we had our power go out fri at midnight and it came back on yesterday but we didnt have phone reception till just before i was going crazy bloody optus cut out and didnt even know till someone rang them this morning
Hi girls! Just popping on quickly.
Still have no idea about my house. Adam tried to get there yesterday but there is just far too much water still. We were told that from the air it looked as if our house had been inundated. We still do not know for sure.
on the bright side... the IL's place was dry. It missed going in their house by just millimetres!! Amazing. I'm so thrilled that their place is ok. The shed which is the busniess is just stuffed. Adam has now technically lost his income so we're kinda just waiting to see if we have anything left at home to make that side of things slightly easier.
We thought we'd lost adam's ute, but thankfully it didn't fill with water... so that's something I guess. The roads are stuffed. We cannot drive to the IL's house as the bridge has partially collapsed it will be months before that's fixed no doubt. When adam got to within 10kms of our place, he found massive parts of the roads just washed away, huge gaping holes. I won't be able to drive my car to my house at all. I doubt they will be concerned with fixing our roads before mid year. it's the hardest part about living outside a town. not only do we in VIC already feel like we are forgotten, but those of us in rural areas not within city limits already know that w will be last on the governments list of things to fix. It's hard... but we'll get by. I'm hoping that the water if it has indeed gone through our house, that it has spared out important papers. We will have lost lots of photos already but not all. The kids clothes and toys will be buggered though. Everything. I doubt their cubby, sandpit, slide and swing set and even the trampoline will even be at home! haha. I cannot evenm imagine where they've gone if they have. Kinda a bit funny... I can imagine them bobbing up and down in the water somewhere.
We're in good spirits... especially because the IL's house is ok. I'm waiting for the government to start opening things up for us as although we are ok at the moment... we will struggle in weeks to come. A little dismayed with our premier at the moment, but we won't even go there. haha.
The kids are good. I got them out early enough that the latest floods don't seem to have affected lachie this time. The trip back may affect him... everything will look different so I'm not sure how that will go. if water has been through my house I will not be taking my kids back there. I will also not take them back if it hasn't been through the house but has caused havoc in our yard... I want it cleaned first. I worry more about how he will react than anything, and I'm thanking my lucky stars that Allira is just too young to comprehend anything.
Anyway... I'm just waffling. Thanks so much for he thoughts. I won't be on very much at all over the coming weeks... I can only get to a computer rarely. We're just hoping that up here in Swan Hill that the power doens't go out today when Kerang cops it. It already looks like I am stuck up here for at least 2 weeks with no way back because of the water... the power going out would make like extremely hard.

Nicky, Hope the trip back home is ok, hope you find things are not too bad and you and the kids cope with what you see. As others have said, if you need anything over the next few weeks, please, please let us know. We would love to help out even in small ways if we can. I know I've got some new stuff stashed away - some bath toys, books, a few clothes (might be a bit girly... can't really remember!), other small toys - all new. I buy them if they are on special and keep them for gifts. (There - now you all know I'm a tight a$$ ! LOL.) Just say the word, babe.

I am at work. LOL! Seriously. It is soooooooo slow because the boss doesn't get back until next week so I am basically just sitting here waiting for the phone to ring. Tedious.
DH had a good day with both girls yesterday. They are beginning to play well together, although Phoebe is still more comfortable with parallel play. DH set up the blow-up pool and they had a paddle. I was actually most p'd off when I arrived home to find the state of the kitchen and lounge room. I felt like such a whiner, but it was a kick in the guts to see all my hard work on Wed cleaning every surface of the lower levels (I didn't do the bedrooms or upper bathroom) because of ants, had gone to ruin. The bastard ants were back, they were on Phoebe's high chair :( On the dining table, on the kitchen bench. DH is so freaking lazy and it really annoys the living crap out of me. But I am glad they all did ok without me.
I am looking into going on a sugar detox. Have any of you done this before? I have been bingeing like crazy... and I just can't stop. The other day I ate 5/6 of a packet of oreos in one sitting. And that's just one example, it happens all the time. I feel like I need to do something hard core otherwise it's just going to get worse and worse.
On a more positive note, I've decided that next year I'm going to look at studying nursing part time! I'd like to become a midwife and why the bloody hell not? So that's the plan. I have asked for some info and I'll be ringing a couple of universities to ask about timetabling in order to work out if it's humanly possible for me to work and study at the same time. Lots of challenges, but I think it'll be worth it.
In case you guys didn't see on FB, Bella is back from the UK and said she'll post on here soon... but I think everyone has probably caught up with her on FB anyway.
Sorry girls haven't had a chance to get on! I'm sure most of you know by now, that hubs got through to our house a few days ago to find that our house is dry. The cellar is full of water, the outside is covered in muck, dead fish, yabbies snakes and other crawlies everywhere... but we have a house!!
We just can't get to it. haha. Not without a 4wd.... the roads are STUFFED!
So we are staying at the IL's until we can get through. Not sure when that will be. I haven't been home in 10 days now.... It's like an extended holiday!
So tomorrow, we are leaving the area... going and doing something as a family. We haven't had just the 4 of us time in 11 days... so that will be good.
I am thinking of heading to the zoo.... but we usually just wing it and see where we end up.

Just good to be back in teh area. I had a 5.5 hour drive yesterday just to get back from Swan Hill ( usually it's 1.5 hours.... it was a VERY testing trip on my own with the crazies in the back!!).

Sorry it has been so long in posting. We had a lovely time in the Uk with lots of snow and a white christmas. Mind you the temp was crazy cold and got down to -17 at night. not that we felt the cold too much cos of the double glazing and the central heating. Was so hard to be in the UK for the last week whilst hearing about the floods. My bro came very close to being flooded in and did some work filling sand bags and DH couldn't get home from work one day and had to wait 4 hrs on the side of the road , but essentially we escaped untouched and were very lucky. I must say I shed many tears tho reading all of the news. I just wanted to do something for my community.
Nicky I can't imagine how hard it has been for you. I am glad to hear that your house is ok.
Jemima has been really hard to settle back after the jet lag. She has woken 5+ times a night since we got back and stayed awake for 2-3 hours btwn 1-4am every night but last night. then again I accidently left the monitor off and so maybe she did cry and we used a harsh form of CIO! Luckily I realised at about 3am so hope it was ok. Anyway I am hoping she settles down now.
Her speech has finally come on now. It has helped by having a nana and poppy speaking to her all day long. Now she says "oh dear" "all gone" "no more" "mama" "hewoow!"(hello). She counts a little but really she just wants to say "two". She now can recognise lots of animals and if she sees a picture of a cat she says "cat... meow" Although it comes out more like oowwww. and dogs are correctly identified by "woof woof". She actually says lots of words now that I think of it. She mimics everything we say. IT is lovely. She has got a temper coming along tho so I am sure you will hear more about that
Must go my lovelies. It has been really cool to hear about all of the pregnancies. We are about to start trying soon so wish us luck and I am sure you will all be first to know when we suceed

Hey all.
Just a whingy post from me. Phoebe has been sick and I'm soooooo over it. She was vomiting on Wednesday night like I've never seen before and she's now at the stage of being REALLY cranky and sooky, I think because she feels hungry and/or has a headache but doesn't want to eat. Plus we were up for over an hour in the middle of the night last night and I doubt she has recovered from that broken sleep so is really tired.
I cannot do anything right for her today and I'm just about fed up.

Funniest thing about it is that we are on flood watch again. IT looks like we could be flooded out for a while as they are suggesting we could get ALOT of rain over the next 6 weeks.
So last night we started lifting things up off the floor, grabbing the really important things and packing them in a box to keep in the car, and I will finish packing our weekend bags with 4-5 days worth of clothes just in case we can't get home again.
I won't be thrilled... but such is life hey.
Anyway, we'll head out of here at 4pm when we were planning to to meet hubs at work and all head into my folks for the weekend.

So the storms were ferocious! we lost power at home for 48 hours. We got back last night with the river still rising, and depending on what the next few hours bring, we may be leaving again before a bunch of rain is meant to hit us this weekend... :S

Natalie has this uncontrollable cough. I have no idea what I'm going to do with her tomorrow. Hoping DH will be able to stay home tomorrow morning because my Mum is up at my brother's until lunchtime and she can't go to CC.
Phoebe has been so cute with DH recently. She seems to have a much tighter bond with him than Nat ever did and he's really enjoying it. The other night we were over at our friends' place and he arrived late. Well, as soon as she saw him she practically screamed, "HELLOOOOOOOOO!!" and bolted for him and gave him a massive cuddle. Was just adorable. She has been practicing her words too, as we drive along in the car she will often repeat things that Natty or I say. And of course Natalie thinks it's a great game. Ie, "Can you say, 'pink' Phoebs?" etc etc. But she still doesn't use words to ask me for things, like drink/water/milk or whatever. She basically just repeats things or says things at random still.
I have started putting her on the toilet before the bath but she's not happy to sit there for longer than a second or two. I would rather not wait as long with her as I did with Natty, but it strikes me that it's easier toilet training a kid who can talk. Or maybe I'm just lazy!
It is such a relief that the weather has cooled down. Today has been so much more pleasant and I really feel heaps more positive all round! We slept quite well (except for Natty's at times relentless coughing) for the first time all week.
Nicky, i can't believe you're still sane! this is doing my head in on your behalf lol
