something i learnt when i had gastro, that was reinforced by another dr to a friend in hospital with it last week, is that the gastro bug can still be contagious for upto a week after symptoms have disappeared. That's why it is so readily spread as people think once they have stopped the symptoms they are fine. I was told to stay home for a week and not go to OB's office so as not to give it to any other patients. This friend was told 2 weeks! :o

LOL, yes I gave up the single life about 10 months ago. Found an awesome partner, unfort he has trouble dealing with Alex & his ADHD.
Working part time, Thursday & Friday's.
Boys father won't have a bar of them (one of the main reasons for the move back to QLD ... ) or anyone in his family that see's me, talks to me & the boys.

Just looked at the time ... off to get two rugrats ready - off to get my blood works back!

Trill, no need to apologise. Obviously your DH felt as strongly for it as you did against - you win some, lose some. You have to compromise to make things work and in the end it won't harm them any (though I do understand why you wouldn't want it done). I do think it is good of you to make the effort to take them to church for easter since they have been baptised - seems right to give them a basis of the religion they are now part of. Ultimately it will be up to them if they want to continue with it or not - at least they are getting the exposure to decide for themselves.

JM, there is no way we can stay home for a whole week! W still had a bit of tummy rumbles this morning so no kindy, but he will most likely go tomorrow. After two days at home his sleep has gone up the creek, he just isn't tired enough and wakes all through the night when he hasn't had a stimulating enough day. Probably not fair to the kids that might catch it, but at least he is tedious about washing his hands with soap. There was a kid there the other day with 11 nose and coughing up a lung who didn't even cover his mouth when he coughed - yuck!.

My BIL might be arriving today for a visit which will be cool. He is the good brother, a helicopter pilot at the glaciers, and we hardly ever get to see him.

I don't want to jinx us, but I think I might have figured out A's waking 4-6 times at night. The last few nights we have left the electric blanket on medium instead of low and she is only waking twice overnight which is far more reasonable. Apparently she likes to be super warm.

Hi girls, how is everyone? sorry to hear about all the gastro going around. it just seems like there's so much sickness around atm doesn't it?
well we ended up going away for the weekend, it was really nice just to have different scenery as the boys and i have been stuck at home for 2.5 weeks now. we took the boat out and had fish and chips and chardonney and all that good stuff.
L is on the mend but still not back to his usual self. he has started eating again so we are on operation get fat as he looks like a lollypop. trouble is that J wants to eat everything he eats so is getting chubbier by the day LOL
we are staying home all week this week- he may be able to go to kinder on friday but i doubt it at this stage, we will just have to see.

andie- congrats on #3. i'm thinking it might be a girl for you this time! sorry to hear about your x :( how do the boys cope with not seeing him?

trill- sorry you are so upset. why did dh insist on it? is it so they can go to a particular school or something? was he raised anglican? sorry to be nosey, you don't have to answer of course

I sent him a txt between xmas & new years saying boys wanna see you do you want to come over & nothing. Then in january they ran into him at a shopping centre & he told them he will talk to me & come for a visit soon. I sent him another txt saying heard you ran into boys, they said you want to see them look forward to hearing from you & you will never guess what happened - he changed his mobile number.
Alex harped on it abit but he new it was soon not now but haven't heard much recently. He will tell you that william is his birth daddy.
Jack, doesn't faze him as he doesn't remember him, but he remembers Alex saying he saw him at the shops. You ask Jack who his dad & he will say Greg is his daddy but he knows that the other guy is his father
My X's sister rang me the other day - he told her that she & her kids are nothing to him as they see & talk to me & the boys.
Pretty bad hey.
What can you do but know you've tried the best for them.
Makes it harder for us as we don't have that time out from them & they don't get that time out from us.

oh sherie :hug: that's ok babe, dont ever feel like you have to talk about things if they are upsetting and especially dont feel bad for telling us. we are here for you no matter what babe xx. DH and i have had this moment ourselves where i would like the girls to be christened but he is not ok with that, so i will go with his choice as i figure my girls will have a connection spiritually on their own steam ITMS. I am sorry that this was such a hard time on you though, i can only imagine having to do that and witness that: it would not of been easy as some of the semantics are pretty full on (we went to a catholic baptism the other month and i was a *wee* bit horrified by all the doom and gloom).

andie: oh that sucks about the kids dad. but FWIW, the kids will be ok. in my mind its better to have him completely out of it then a bit here and a bit there. my mum tried in the early years to get my dad on board with me, but it just caused too much heartache and disappointment for me in the end and when it was finally decided to just be 'us' then life seriously took a better and more confident turn...just a thought :)

G: ahhh that break away sounds just like what the Dr ordered! we are currently planning our 10 year anniversary break!!

MD: which brings me to you my dear...i hope you are going to be in Radelaide in June! we are a'coming!!!!! we are thinking a night or two in adelaide then a couple of nights either in Flinders ranges or nearby (like quorn??!) or Kangaroo island (although ferry a bit exxy?). we will be driving up and i cannot wait!!! do you have any tips on what would be nice? or what would be ok for the girls in flinders ranges? i am thinking a relaxing time with just a bit of wildlife spotting TBH. and adelaide would be more structured activities ITMS.

JM: oh i know! the wait afterwards is hard!! i have been told that its best to stay away from our friend with the special needs baby for 2-3 weeks :o arghhh! they are our mainstay!!!! but i am so freaky conscious about his health it aint funny, but wow, a whole month basically of not seeing them :(

AFM: well i am FINALLY feeling better! YAY! but poor leila just doesnt seem to be able to kick the cold. poor wee poppet. but the temp is not as high now thankfully so hopefully in the next couple of days it will be over :crossfingers:

Cass, L is still home from school all snotted up. Even the headcold I had a few weeks ago is still lingering with me being blocked up first thing in the morning.

Andie, that is really sad for both him and the boys. Especially the boys. They get to the point where they really do need that father figure in their lives. But if he can't give it to them, I hope your new DP can fill the gap :hug:

What ****ed me off the most about the baptism is that DH isn't a practicing Christian (baptised Methodist) and it just seemed sooooo hypocritical for us to do it. I'm not done at all so I was more than happy for them not to be done ever and I thought we'd decided that, but out of the blue he brought it up and it caused a massive fight. My issue was that if they want religion in their lives, then they would make that decision themselves as adults, but he said to me, that he thought if we did that, then it was likely they never would - so he wanted them to be baptised now and then as adults they could decide if they wanted to stay a part of it or not. It got really ugly with all the tooing and froing and it only took 4wks from when he brought it up to when they were done because I didn't want to muck around and just get it over and done with as soon as I could. I guess the only win I had was that their Godmother is a good family friend of DH's family and we are very close and she is the least religious person I know LOL. But I know she'd still be a perfect 'spiritual' adviser to them all the same. So it had nothing to do with a school or anything like that, just something DH wanted done. I know his mother was pleased though - not that she is any more religious than DH is, but it always kinda bugged her that they weren't done. She never ever said anything though which was great, but when we told her she said that she was happy about it. But she still preferred our little heathens over BIL and SIL's kids who were all baptised Catholic LOL - she hates the fact that she has Catholic grandkids.

my old catholic neighbour cries for our children apparently lol. we are the heathens i am afraid for her :( she loves us, but just can't understand that we are not baptising the girls. but everyday she sees them she gives them a little blessing and shows them Mary (on her necklace). at first i was really confronted by it and not comfy but afterwhile and after getting to know her better i see that it comes from a place of love (rather than judgement where i thought it was emanating from first itms), and love for my children is always well received :)

MP - A was first diagnosed with ADHD at 2.5yrs of age & the peadi then wanted to medicate him but he was not old enough. After talking to the lovely ladies here it was suggested to check out Sue Dengate's Fed up With Additives website & that was brilliant. Once I converted Alex to it completley, he was able to come of the sedatives he was prescribed to help him sleep.
Who would have thought getting into a pedi is such hard work - of 3 phone calls made already - one is not taking app'ts for the rest of the year, one is 4 months away & one is 2 months away. Still to call more. The receptionist at the place that isn't taking app'ts gave me 3 other numbers to call - one including a specialist unit at the Mater

Trill - I too grew up without a father figure hence why I tried so hard to get the ex involved in the boys life. I can only try, which I did. I still feel like I've failed (esp to the boys) evern though I know I gave it all I can, short of turning up on his door step. It sucks. But anyways.

I'm so exhausted today. Already sleeping funny & snuggling my body pillow. Hehe

Andie - That is so sad! How a parent chooses to not be involved in their child's lives is totally beyond me! He is really missing out, the pics of your boys on fb are gorgeous. Very special children and he is wrecking it for himself. And the boys! Just as well they have an awesome mum. Hopefully your new partner can step into the father figure place. I hope he can come to terms with A and his ADHD. I can imagine its a huge adjustment for him too. I have read that Sue Denegate book out of interest, very smart lady, so glad you found something that works for him. My fingers are so crossed for a little girl!

Trill - I totally know where you are coming from with the whole baptism thing. I have been in that situation myself. It took almost 3 years for DH to convince me to baptise M in the catholic church. DH is catholic and raised in a VERY catholic family. We are sending our girls to the catholic school that DH attended as a child, as we are still in the area. On the day it was so awkwardly bad that my dad flat out refused to attend, my mum put on a smily face but I knew her true thoughts, and my two sisters actually got into a war of words with my BIL and spent the whole time rolling their eyes. Awkward awkward awkward to say the least. We now have E's baptism approaching in May, wish me luck. I am doing this for DH, and now that M is attending the 3 yr old kindy at school I am warming to the whole catholic education a bit more now. Its still hard. I hope you can come to terms with it a bit more soon too. Also I can relate to the embarrassment of telling people, I felt like a huge hypocrite, so dont apologise.

MP - The tinea sounds nasty, I hope you can get rid of it quick smart.

Re pelvic floor. I have no pelvic floor left lol! Mine is so bad that I have a prolapse and I am seeing a physio in an attempt to strengthen everything down there! I really would love a third child, but I have come to the decision that I just cant, as I just dont carry well and quite frankly I dont want my whole freaking vag hanging down to my knees! Its actually very upsetting for me :( My body is in poor, poor shape after only two. Imagine if I had more! I am on the waiting list for a repair for my umbilical hernia and possibly a tummy tuck at the same time, fingers crossed. If not I am paying for one through a private surgeon. I feel blah.

Isa, I was watching Embarrassing Bodies the other night, it was all about vaginas, and they had a lady there who had lived with a pretty severe prolapse for like 10 years or something. Anyway she went in for surgery and they fixed it all up. She was rapt! (Mind you she was well beyond anything physio could've done). So there are other options once you get beyond your having babies years. Anyway made me think I should prolly do something about my never-been-quite-right-again vag. I'm just kinda over visiting health professionals for now. :hug:

You too? Glad I'm not the only one MD! I can understand you not wanting to make any more hospital trips at the moment, maybe down the track hey? Mine is fixable apparently, but no matter how many pelvic floor exercises I do there seems to be no improvement. The physio also said I may notice a change once we finishing BFing, something to do with hormones. And also I dont really want to get to that stage where it becomes severe, therefore I wont be risking it with any more babies :( Honestly, 25 yrs old people, and already I feel like my grandmother!!!

You will notice a difference once you're not BFing (I remember it made a difference after I weaned DD1). That's why I think I'm noticing it a bit more now, not enough oestrogen to make the world go around.

Ahahaha!!! Its so not glamourous having babies! My younger sisters are horrified! And yes thats what the physio said, all to do with oestrogen!

how do you know if there is a prolapse? i know that i dont seem to be the same. i just dont have the right strength in the right areas IYKWIM. also my tummy muscles are so frikkin separated it's not funny. marta did this shockingly MASSIVE flip the night before she was born that it took my breath away (as any 3.5 kilo lump in your uterus would do moving at that speed lol).

I certainly look more 'open' down there now and at one stage I thought it may have been a prolapse but I've had 2 pap smears and a lap surgery since I had A and none of the Dr's have said I had a prolapse? SO I'm guessing that its still normal for it to look like that. I have read that a prolapse feels like it is all falling out and I know MIL has one and she said it is really painful and can even be painful to sit sometimes and I've never felt like that. I got lucky with the stomach muscles too - even after having babies the size that I have, my muscles never separated at all. I often wondered because I'd hear other women talking about it but when I had A and the hospital physio came around to give me exercises I asked her about my stomach muscles and she got me to lay flat on my back on the bed and slightly raise my torso and my legs and doing that clenches the stomach muscles - while I was doing that she had a feel and she couldn't even fit a pinky finger inbetween them. She was super impressed LOL. She showed me how to feel for it and I couldn't believe that after having the 4 kids that they were still so good. So it must be just fat giving me a big belly ;) I guess if a dodgy pelvic floor and a slightly worse for wear looking vagina is the worst I have to deal with I don't think I can complain really.

Well L went back to school today. He seemed to really pick up last night and he ate tea easy enough without feeling crook and then he was up early and actually felt lke eating brekky today so I sent him and told him if he starts feeling crap again to go to sick bay.
