Hi All

Sorry i have not posted for ages, i have been reading everyones posts while feeding Taz but just have not got around to responding.

Congrats Shona and Kellie on becoming Auntys again, Kellie Blake was the name i had originally picked for Taz i love it.

Shona, sounds like your trip home is going well.

Kirley, Sounds like you are doing well on your diet, i dont blame you for breaking it every now and then. I have just started a healthy eating (trying to loose some weight) and i think i broke it today just a little. Goodluck with it all and i hope you keep seeing results in Will. How is the hammock going, does Will love it?

Wahoo for Will for the big sleep during the night, it can make a huge difference.

HC, good to hear from you, sorry things have not improved with DH, how is the weight loss challenge going?, any tips?

Marauni, good to hear from you and an update from Louis, sounds like you are doing a great job.

As for us, both the kids have had a tummy bug so we have been the house of poo, so glad they are over it now. Taz is doing well, he is still sleeping well at night, generally waking around 3:30am and then again at 6:30am and then goes back to sleep till around 8:30am. He is not sleeping much during the day and when he does they are an hour max sometime 10min, he still seems quite happy though. Looks like we all are in a very similar boat with the day sleeps. He is doing really good with his tummy time and we have just started trying to get into a bit of a routine. waking up, booby, bath, cuddle, tummy time, booby then try and get to sleep then the rest of the day we just take it as it comes. He is smiling heaps and is trying to have a lil chuckle, it is so nice to get something back.

Taz is still sleeping in bed with us and DP has put the cot together tonight so i am going to try and put him in there for his day sleeps, i am not ready for him to go in there at nights though :).

Anyway going to try and get to bed earlyish tonight. So i hope everyone is well.

Hello to everyone else that i have missed.

Kirley: I am with you on the Pinky Mckay books, they have made me feel heaps better about how we parent. I try not to follow any rules and just let Elliot lead and do what I feel is right or best for him and our family, it seems to work well for us, despite the well meaning advice that we have been bombarded with.

Bella Mia: Great that you are doing well, Taz sounds a lot like Elliot with small power naps during the day and a reasonable length sleep at night, we generally get 4-5am wake up then again 7-8am. I have taken him into our bed last couple of nights and just let him feed on tap while i'm laid down. Doesn't seem to make him sleep any better though, think he may prefer his own bed these days :(

We are still wrapping, will try and wean into sleeping bag when we get back to Australia.


For those of you that haven't seen, Tenibear is pregnant again, only a few weeks so keeping the good news off facebook. She has started a thread, i'm sure we will all be praying for a happy and healthy 9 months for her and a beautiful sibling for her angel baby Ianto. Link included below.

My little man has the snuffles, it sounds terrible. I have had the vaporizer on all night hoping that it would help. Luckily he still slept pretty well and only woke up twice during the night.

That's great news about Teni *yay*....
and yay diet is starting to pay off for William - his poo's are no longer super runny. Not quite toothpaste consistancy but they wouldn't be classed as runny either....yay yay so happy! And he doesn't seem to have quite as loud 'crackers' (as my nephews call them ) nor any trouble to pass wind of a morning. he is quite happy to just stir a little and do it himself - he was crying and fussing & i'd have to hold his legs up for him to be able to go. He is also feeding fantastically again ;).
Having a bit more progress on day sleeps this week also - done few two and three hour naps here and there....and a few hourly ones....we have also had a day with 14hours awake and an hour nap over the course of that time :S...those days drive me nuts. I'm finding i lose my patience alot more with him now than i used to when i have to keep putting him back to sleep *sigh*....hopefully i can keep it in check!!
Seems none of our babies like day time sleeps much!! which i guess at least they are doing it in the day and not the night.....

Oh and 12weeks today!! :( so sad that they grow so quick....got him weighed yesterday and we are at 6.2kg!! i'm guna have to start lifting weights soon to pick him up lol....it sucks having such little wrists (and i broke one in high school so i can't really hold too well with it for long periods) and trying to feed!!

ahh shouldve *touchedwood* lol....so this morning William woke about 5am with wind/tummy pains.....trying to figure out what caused it....does anyone know how long it takes for the food we eat to affect the breastmilk and then digest in tummies???
I had milk in my tea for breaky......i had a mandarin (which i haven't had any with him since bf i don't think) at about 2pm & same goes for iced vovo biscuit (yep i've given up on no sugar lol just having small amounts though)......and then again about 9pm i had another cuppa with milk. Mandarins i'm meant to be allowed; coconut (on biscuit) i'm not meant to have; milk i'm not meant to have but i'm just having a splash and using up the last of my bottle so it doesn't go to waste.....prehaps the build up on splashes of milk is affecting him *sigh*....this is sooo frustrating! i'd love just normal food!
but i also had both these things on wednesday and neither seemed to bother him yesterday :S....so i'm confused!

kirley: know what you mean about holding, it gets pretty uncomfortable! Not sure about how long certain foods affect your BM for, LC would probably be best source of info.

We have started trying to keep a diary so I can try and work our Elliots routine. Seems that he just alternates between sleep and play and then feeds every 3 hours. We get mainly 30 minute naps or less with a longer 2 hour nap at sometime during the day.

Bad night last night, very unsettled and seemed to be constantly disturbed by tummy pain but not passing any wind which is weird. Medication stopped last Sunday so hoping we won't have to re-start it again! Oh well hopefully a better night to come tonight, fingers crossed.....

Shona, prehaps because you stopped the medication there is no wind because his body has to get used to doing it again without medication assistance. it might take a few more days for him to adjust?? just a thought. Hopefully you have a better night tonight.
*sigh* for me....back to liquid poo's this morning.... no cows milk today!! lol i had another thought that it prehaps it could be tomatos cuz i eat them for breaky and lunch... will keep an eye on it. LC said roma & cherry are fine, which is what i'm eating but prehaps i'm overdoing it! That's the problem with this diet, some foods are 'not all the time' foods..but when you can'teat much else you dont have much of a choice!
i did buy rice milk though so i'm guna have that for my cuppas - i'm not meant to have it for me but i just cant stomach black tea....and it's sooo cold lol

Kirley: you poor thing, the diet sounds harsh, good luck.

We had a better night thankfully, last feed at 9pm in the bath (no poo thankfully!) and did not wake again until 4am but then fed again at 6am and 9am to make up for it! He is so different from day to day you just never know! SO looking forward to getting back to Australia so we can get back to our routine and settle back into things, we are like nomads at the moment and Elliot's routine has really suffered!

Finished both the Pinky Mckay books which I really loved and have bought some bedtime books by Mem Fox which she mentioned in the sleep book. Elliot really loves "Time for bed" and giggles when Dad reads it to him, so cute!

Haven't started reading to William yet although i have quite a few books already....also having my own learning ladder party in august to get a few more....mum's in s.e qld you are welcome to come along if you like...those on facebook i sent you an invite ;) Majella if you want the details let me know :)

So still more improvement on William and his tummy :) He is now successfully sleeping at least 3hours during the day (one sleep cycle at a time for naps but it's better than nothing!) which is great, still got good night sleeps too - including going to bed ALOT earlier.
Borrowed an ergobaby sling from my doula - Love it! Bidding for one on ebay. It puts william to sleep wheni am out so I don't have one overtired/overstimulated and screaming baby when i go out during the day and out for dinner and try to put him to sleep. means i don't have to be home within a time frame anymore! yay. It has this cover thing on it also that means he can't see out so if we are at the shops and he gets grumpy from being overstimulated i can cover him and he goes to sleep. REally easy to put on as well. Only fault i can find atm is that the cover comes right up to my neck and feels a little funny, but as he gets bigger i suppose that won't happen cuz it won't need ot be so short.
Also found some ergocoocoon wraps on ebay, has anyone used them? i did start a thread about it, but they look like a pretty awesome wrap....they have a double zip so you can just undo from the bottom for nappy changes at night and to put baby incar seat without unwrapping. They also have flaps for the arms so that you can put one out at a time once baby gets older? Good subsitute for a sleeping bag and maranui they would solve the problem of how to get bub used to it?!! Only thing i'm not sure about is cuz William likes to be swaddled so his hands are up near his face, you can't really do that here i dont think...but they are only like $30 so i'm tempted to just get one and try......

It's oh so quiet! Busy bunch we must be... I have the laptop at home finally YAY but bugger all time to use it BOO - thought I'd post just to keep our thread open wouldn't want them to close it like they did for my last baby buddies group. So most of us are approaching the 4 month mark - YIKES this is going way to fast for my liking and yet I don't have that sad feeling everytime he hits a milestone - must mean I am destined for more kidlets, I am rather clucky! INSANE right but there are soooo many pregnant women around atm and A is sooo big it's like he isn't a baby! Quick update on what's happenin in Archer land - he has cut a tooth (bottom left second in) and by looks his 1yr molars will be next gIANT lumps where all 4 will be bought him an amber necklace and he's a new kid! For those not on facebook we had an overnighter in hospital about 3 weeks back, he would scream bloody murder everytime he went to feed from my left (layin on his right) took him to the dr cause i thought it may have been a teething related ear infection but all clear so the dr panicked and sent us to cairns to see the paed who put us in overnight for a suspected hernia under his surgical wound PFFT biggest waste of time ever.. started wearing the necklace and feeding as per normal again! Coop picked A up and dropped him while I was on the loo so another hospital visit - got the all clear but we looked like weirdos dressed in christmas clobber for a xmas in july do LOL A is rolling about the place both belly to back and back to belly and even trying to crawl - lord help me when I have to mobile children!!!!! The crawl is more like a bulldozer monuvour (SP?) he has wicked strong legs (from the chunky thighs he inherited from mama HAHA) but still not much upper body strength or neck control (darn op) so he just keeps pushing himself forward, head down like the blade of a bulldozer - freakin hilarious! Cooper well that boy is still testing me daily............ enough said cause if you can't say anything nice don't say it at all right?! We are looking to move closer to where Wayne's working the 9hr drive there and back every 5 days is just plain stupid! Thinkin of lil ol collinsville where we met - small mining town YUCKO but I have some really good friends there who will be more than willing to lend a hand if needed, goodness knows I need it most days!

Anyhow best be off to bed.... hope you and all the little ones are well!!!!!!!

You know I was just thinking last night that I should post in here but was too tired and went to bed!!!

I agree with how fast they are growing!! Man everyone always says 'enjoy it because it will be gone before you know it!' and it's true...it goes quicker than I'd ever imagine....but Tan i'm also still super clucky haha...time for another one??? ;) at least i'm going up to a bigger baby from 8lb....are you going up from a 10lb 7oz - er!! 8-o lol.
So I have had a feral week! My own fault really - cheese & a bite of cherry ripe are the problem! he's DEFINATELY dairy intollerant.... i had about four hours sleep in three days....so did he :S...was horrid. Also contemplated leaving my DH for a week just so he'd realise i'm serious when i tell him to grow up!...but alas i did not and we had a mediation type talk with our best friends (William's godparents) who helped us work through everything...so this arvo is the talking arvo for me and john to work out a plan by ourselves...Lets hope it goes well & he actually changes it - out of about the 14 problems/issues i had with him...all except one can be solved by not playing the darn xbox so much....so it's pretty much he cuts back his hours playing it significantly or he's guna be given a choice it or me & Will. Even our friends told him that if i left they would fully support me as would many other people and he would be back at home with his parents like a teenager & I'd get everything....

So yeh a really hard, tiring and depressing week for me. No where near crawling for William...I'm a bit slack on the tummy time still, even without tummy pain he dislikes it immensly. However he can almost sit up by himself :) then he topples lol and cuz he's too young he doesn't understand to put his hands out...oh well soon :) Diet (the one just for william, i'm back to eating sugar!) although hard (and very difficult when i do cave!! cuz i'm up all night and day then) is making a huge difference.....but i'm really sick of ppl telling me 'just switch him to formula'. Even my mother in law who kept encouraging me to keep him on boobie when i was expressing the first week cuz it was painful now asked me yesterday 'is it time you put him on the bottle then?' What the!!??? the easiest thing for me is 'no forumla is dairy or soy based and he can't have either'....that shuts them up a bit....however she was still like 'so what are people meant to do'.....'um...cut out dairy! and bf him like i'm doing!!!!!' argh!
And people think the pressure is greater for mum's to bf...no way! there is more pressure to give your kids forumla; even from ppl who are all for bf! go figure.

Last week William lost 100g :( duno why...was meant to take him back today to get weighed but i'm guna stay at home cuz hes sick :(....got my cough and snotty nose...however i did find the best snot sucker ever! in the Fess nasal spray little noses!! It is fantastic lol! Can't give him anything for the cough though from the chemist :( they are all from 2yrs up!! :(...hope it goes soon, sounds sooo sad.

Okay, I don't really belong in this thread for a couple of reasons, but a lot of you were my belly buddies so deal with it :p I just thought I'd pop my head in and say...

Remember in our buddies thread, way back when, I said something like "I can't believe there's already an August 2010 thread, I was only finding out I was pg last Ausgust!"? ... It's here! Geez, a lot has happened in the past year for us all. :grouphug:

Teni: great to hear from you, thanks for popping in. I certainly do wish you and Scott all the best for your pregnancy, you really do deserve lots of joy and happiness. I can't believe that a year has gone by since we were finding out we were pregnant, it goes so fast!! You'll have to keep us updated on how you are travelling.

Kirley: Good on you for sticking to your guns and doing the best for William, we all know the benefits of BF and there's nothing to say that you would have any less problems with formula anyway. People just like to stick their nose in to other peoples business where parenting is concerned! They need to butt the hell out!

Tan: good to hear from you. Sounds like Archer is coming along fast!! Shame about the teething though, poor thing! Good luck on making decisions on moving.

Hello to everyone else, where the hell are ya?!

We are slowly settling back in to our house and unpacking box upon box. Have not even unpacked suitcases yet of which 3 became 4 to accommodate all the stuff Elliot was bought in England! So happy to be home, had a great trip but glad to be back! Elliot is great, almost rolling back to front but can't quite make the last little bit, has been rolling the other way for ages but we'll get there! He's a real social child and oves to chat, is never happier than when being held and chatted or sang too, hates all his toys which is a real pain in the ass! He is very time consuming and only has small power naps during the day and still sleeps badly at night. He averages about a total of 2 hours during the day and is still up 4 times at night for feeding. Wish there was a way to get him to drop a night feed, we have tried cluster feeding in the evening and even dream feed before bed but he still persists with 2-4 hourly feeds, little bugger!! To top it off at 5am he will scream until you take him out of the bedroom then is only awake for 30 minutes and wants to sleep again, ARGH!

argh i hit a button and now what i wrote is gone!! gota remember what i wrote!

Tan any more thoughts on whether you are guna move or not??

Just want to say thanks to all of you on facebook who are supportive of me not agreeing with controlled crying...i've had to also justify this decision with many mums who think i'm making a mistake or i should be tougher (about what i'm not to sure because he is a baby and won't understand!!)....so thanks for your support and suggestions.

Shona, glad you are back safely....and i am sympathetic about the unpacking...must be hard with very little time!!Do you think that maybe Elliot might have tummy issues like William with what you eat?? Because I now get 4-5 45min sleeps from William during the day, then he goes to bed about 6pm and sometimes wakes up between 8-10pm for a feed sometimes he doesn't and then usually sleeps till around the 4am mark sometimes a little earlier depending on if he woke up between 8-10pm. Then he goes back to sleep till about 6.30pm.
His routine during the day is that he is awake for about an hour, hour and a half at the max and that includes a feed. then he has his nap. Yet to perfect getting him to sleep longer but for now i'm happy that he is sleeping!
We don't have any more screaming at night & he stays asleep (most times) during the day now. Unless of course i have dairy then i he doesn't sleep again during the day and very unsettled and awake long periods at night.
Just a suggestion?

Atm though his new thing is i have to feed him as soon as he wakes up so he has a full feed otherwise he sucks for two seconds, looks around, sucks for two seconds, looks around etc...or he flat out refuses to turn his head back to me (looks at the celing)and will hold his breath and fight to keep his head there if i try to turn him!! sometimes i can get him to drink if i put him a different way, ie i lie over top of him (very uncomfortable) or he sits on my lap (not discreet when we are out!!). My only thought is that you know how formula babies drop a feed as they get more milk in their feeds....well maybe this is his way of doing that...he just wants a little drink?? but he still seems hungry after ie...sucking on fingers, sticking tongue out etc....
*sigh* and he still has thrush and it's really bad....but i really can't give up sugar! i'm already below the weight i was before i was pregnant!! which if you've seen a photo of me, i'm not very big to begin with....and cuz my butt is back to being boney cuz i lost all the weight i put on - my tailbone has been really sore again. so i kinda don't know what to do!
William is now out of his bassinette but i couldn't bear putting him in another room - i'd miss him! lol so i made john move his cot in our room!! :) hehe....

Kirsty As you are well aware I cop flack for some of my parenting choices - my mum is constantly at me for co-sleeping PFFT she does have a point though when asking why we bothered buying coop such an expensive bed :doh: he'll use it one day! Always getting the put Archer on formula cause he is a big boy and needs more - even before my milk came in I had an Aunt telling me that *sigh* some people just don't get nor can they help themselves!

How's things with hubby? Is he weaning himself of the xbox? Can sympathis, Wayne's thing is fishing - during his week of there isn't a morning when he doesn't look at the tide chart! Most days he will spend at least 3/4 hrs out and not come back with a thing - I think I wrote yonks ago that I wondered if he was actually fishing but he stinks to high hell so no 2nd guessing where he's been necessary!


Arch has started to be easily distracted whilst feeding too, he searches the room for Coop to suss out what he is doing which is endearing but darn annoying too! I figure he will drink when he is thirsty! It's getting warmer up here already so preparing myself for lots of little feeds anyhow... don't think that would be the case in your part of the country yet?! Perhaps teeth? Arch has a rash under his bottom lip and lots of biting gums, the kid has enough dribble to keep a slip n slide wet for a week! He isn't whingy or whiney though - big bonus!

If you ever want some more 'cusion' I still got plenty! My ass won't budge - I think it lives in the next suburb it's so darn big - the weights shifting from everywhere else but there!


Welcome home Shona & Elliot I am yet to travel OS with a little one but have heard it can knock them for six for quite sometime! Here's hoping to an improvement in the not to distant future! As for the unpacking YUCKO we have moved sooo much in the last 5 years that there are things permanently in boxes in the shed! If/when we move - and it's more likely to be a when - I want to stay put for atleast 2 years!

That would be my only concern about having a "3rd" child - we would end up with 3rd and 4th (and for Wayne 5th) My 1st pregnacy was twins so there is a chance! Nothing really new to report with A - he is such a content little dude! We had an awesome day in the sunshine, had almost forgotten what it was like! Big scare ball in the sky that hurt our eyes LOL Coop is sooo much more manageable when he can go outside!

I'm attempting to make a fascinator for the races this weekend best done whilst the boys are asleep I've learnt :rolleyes: and like someone said this time last year we were all in those early weeks of pregnancy! I remember panicking about people finding out because I wasn't drinking alcohol which is very unlike me at the races HAHA

lol about the stentch! no he's not really *sigh* it's a bit less than before but he won't stick to a set amount of hours or anything like that ...he's just like 'i'll try and guess where the line for excessive is & if i go over tell me' and so the responsibility is still with me!! he doesn't get that even when i try and tell him it's not up to me to be the mother!.... he'll stay up with me for bit then when i go to bed he stays up and plays *doh* totally missing the whole point!!! i'll give it a couple weeks like this then tell him this really isn't working; it's no different....

My mum is an identical twin, but apparently identical twins aren't hereditry! And ditto on the cluckiness! It is weird thinking that this time last year we may not have known we were pregnant (well i didn't; not yet)

So just a little grrrrr at some mamas I know who have no qualms in leaving there little ones for four consecutive weekends in the name of 'me time' which equates to getting drunk basically! Than whinge via Facebook about their kids being too loud whilst they battle hangovers! Seriously why do they have kids in the 1st place if to only hand them over to babysitters? Apparently I am jealous ??? Hmmmm silly me I thought becoming a parent meant wanting chidlren including wanting to spend time with them!? I've obviously surrounded myself with mothers who are so disconnected from what motherhood truelt means! Can't wait to leave these people behind!

I am totally the same Tan.....I have the same issues having many people i know from school (same age and younger) who have one or more children and then whinge that they cannot go out and drink,or go to a party with their friends or that they have no one to babysit etc. it has always annoyed me something shocking, especially cuz it took me a few years to convince john that now was the right time to try for a baby....and here these girls were just sleeping around, getting pregnant and then continuing with life for them not their kid; whereas I wanted a baby to spend time with and love and look after. In a way i suppose mine was a bit of jealousy at the time, but it was mostly anger for the kids sake! and you know what....all those kids are going to grow up and only know that you palm your kids off with random ppl so you can go out...and so the circle continues!

p.s john heard on the radio this morning that William was the #1 boys name for babies born in 2010 *sigh* lol
and we picked it cuz it's a name i always liked and because it's john & his dad's names....poo... lol
