Hello everyone
How are you all? It has been really quiet in here so we must all be really busy.
HC, How is the pregnancy going? How is shea? Are you getting all ready for his first xmas?
Kirley, How is Will going? Is he crawling yet? What are you doing for xmas this year?
Shona, how is work going? What has Elliot been up to? Are you families traveling over here for xmas this year?
Tan, How are your boys going? How is the house? Are you going back to Innisfail for xmas?
AFU, We are going well mostly. Taz is nearly crawling he is constantly up on all fours rocking and move himself backwards and around in a circle but just hasn't got the whole moving forward yet. He is finally liking the car more we have had at least a months worth of no screaming, just in time as we plan on doing the long road trip up to mission beach for xmas with my mum (that is if the rain does not flood the roads). Taz is loving solids and have been doing a mixture of infant led and spoon fed (her prefers infant led). Is anyone else doing infant led? Do you give your babies a piece of meat to gum on?
Xmas i am so loving it this year, i have not finished the xmas shopping and have been busy sewing xmas stockings for my nieces and nephews and my own 2 as i am going to fill them with little gifts for there presents. Poor Taz he isnt getting that much as we have so much stuff form when Mia was a baby. I have got him one of those pushing along things that can also fold flat so they can play with it and swimmers and i got him and Mia a combined present a 3 way crawling tunnel.
Anyway just a quick one as Mia is wanting breakfast.
Hello to everyone else, i hope you are all doing well.
I hope everyone is well and Merry xmas if i dong get to post here again before then.
kirley i think it's really delicate to try and advise friends on parenting. i came to the conclusion with my friend that unless she was doing something i felt to be dangerous or not in the best interest of the baby i have decided it is not my place to judge her parenting style or choices. I have listened to people try and advise me on how we do things and told that cc is the only way blah blah and i really don't value their opinions and i suppose that in return there is no reason they should value mine. We each do what is best for our babies and the ideas of what is best are certainly individual. i am strongly against feeding schedules as i think they set up breastfeeding failure and eventually lead into formula feeding but that's just my view. as for routines there is a place for them at times but i also hate the idea that babies are made to conform to our lifestyles rather than us placing a value on them as individuals and human beings but again just my humble opinion.
My suggestion would be to advise her on how you do things and maybe she will get some ideas from it but other than that let her make her own parental choices and bite your tongue.
quick one from me has i have lots to do today!!
So had a rough couple of weeks here;
William picked up some sort of virus so he had a cough, runny nose, a temp and spots. lasted about a week. just made for a cranky and irritable baby...
then the following week i ended up with some sort of gastro virus and still have it. it's lingering on. had the pukes, had the runs and just felt exhausted the rest of the time. waiting for it to leave me completely. driving me insane!
Bella, william has been crawling properly for maybe three weeks now? not quite sure. he only commando crawled for about a week. then a week after the he started pulling himself to standing. he is quite good at it (although sweaty feet on floorboards isn't very fun!); can even do it in the flexi tub he has for his bath. if i hold his hands he starts to step. even the doc was impressed at how well he does it. it's his new fun thing to do at all times of the day (especially at 2am in the morning leaning on mummy, and then he just stares at my face until i wake up; then hes so tired he falls asleep and we collide heads ouchies! lol).
for christmas we are doing dinner on the 23rd with my fam, hopefully 24th will be church christmas carols in the park and breakfast with johns fam. christmas morning. then we get in the car and drive 90mins to have lunch with all my mum's fam. :S i just wanted to spend christmas at home but it doesn't look that way this year...prehaps next year.
thanks shona, yeh i'm just biting my tongue.
neway gota go. hope you are all well
ciao~
Bella we are heading up to Innisfail after boxing day for 2 maybe 3 weeks - I don't envy you having to drive that far I shall refrain from whinging about the measly 6 hours I have to do! We are having 4 days at Airlie Beach with my parents.
The boys have already gotten a trampoline - we figured as we'd be away for a month it wouldn't hurt to get an early gift. They both love it but not nearly as much as DF and I HEHE other than that A isn't getting mucheither, same deal as Mia and Taz - we still have a lot of Cooper's stuff and really have no need for more! A is getting a wooden block push trolley thing, more MCNs (my order has only half showed up so and my emails are going unanswered so I am rather po about that) and books.
Kirsty my my you sound like you have packed schedule for the holiday season! ikwym about wanting to stay home - normally Christmas (and Easter) involves 40 odd Italians plus kids, my cousins extended family not ours o.O
Hi shona & HC and who ever else may be lurking!
Archer is doing well, he (and Cooper) have chn checkup today. His weight seems to have really plateau'd but I guess when you have been on the go from 5 months that is bound to happen. He is as happy as ever so I am not overly concerned, just curious. I have more issues with Cooper so it is more of a well we are heading to the hospital may as well have a 2 for 1 deal iykwim. A is cutting tooth number 6, cruising more than crawling these days and is letting go and balancing for anywhere between 5 & 10 seconds, guess walking isn't far off YIKES! He made his way up the front stairs last week - all 18 of them - he is sooo grown up.
I have put my cluckiness to the side, Cooper is so not wanting another sibling. We had a friend bring around her 3 week old granddaughter and he avoided Kerri as though she had the plague (he is usually all over her) I asked him after they left if he wanted another baby and he cried whimpering "no more bubbies no more bubbles peas mummy" =( poor lil fella has had sooo many changes to deal with this past year. So I am counting my blessings and enjoying my two wee men! I also have to go back to work next year in order to keep my registration up to date - 40 hours minimum I think it is so I have tentatively filled out my application to do casual work, only possible while wayne has his week off anyhow. There are only two options for care and that is with family day carers. I have seen both in action at playgroup and I am soooo not leaving my boys with either 'mum'!!!
Oi where is everyone? Too full to walk to your computers just dropping by to catch up on the Chrissy goss and wish you all a happy new year - there is a storm a brewing so I had better leave it at that. Catch ya in 2011 - or on fb haha
I am a Nigel no friends with no life obviously o.O well the no friends part is kinda true. Struggling to make mummy friends, ones with kidlets the same age or there abouts as mine. Stoopid small town, most mamas with bub's A's age are still in there teens and our parenting styles are worlds apart *sigh* I have tried my best to form friendships for the kids sake but honestly if I have to hear one more time how ****ed off so and so was that they had to go home at 11pm instead of stay at the pub because their baby was playing up for the sitter than I loose my sh*t! I get you are young and you feel robbed of your partying years but perhaps you shoulda thought of that before you opened your legs love! Judgemental um yes but these girls do nothing but whinge and whine about their little ones - seriously depressing. I have my teacher clique from when I lived here last but I am feeling outta the loop there too seeing as I am not in a classroom full time. It doesn't bother me when Wayne's home but the 6 days he is gone seem to drag on (his 6 home fly by) anywho mini cent over - suck it up sweetheart you are stuck here for a wee while yet!
In other news 3ish months till our bubs turn 1 - where'd that year go?
aww you poor thing!! you shoulda moved this way a bit :P then i'll befriend you. my christmas casual job has finished now and i'll probably feeling much the same as you!
i know only 3 months! it's crazy. i didn't think it would go this quickly!
are you getting much rain up that way tan? how are you other qld ladies fairing with this weather?? HC you are getting alot near you...are you flooded in yet? hows that bub #2 coming along
Well hello there everyone, not been in for a while so thought it was about time!
Hope everyone is well and had a great christmas, can't believe our little ones will be 1 soon, no idea where the time went!
Tania: sorry that you haven't found any mum mates yet, hopefully you will find some others on the same level as you, fingers crossed.
Elliot is crawling everywhere and making mischief! Thus far he has fallen off the bed, pulled bottles of wine onto himself, choked on tin foil and tried to eat ****roach bait. I so wanted him to be mobile but bloody hell it's hard work!! Not pulling up on furinture yet so plenty of time before we go walkies although this last week he has started doing some funky gymnast moves and going on hands in feet and pushing his bum right up in the air then balancing on one leg! He has had his first "proper" swim, not had any lessons yet but we can pass him to each other under the water, it's so cute watching him swim! Sinks like a stone if you don't give him a bit of momentum! Daddy is loving being at home with him full time, seems to be working out really well. I am now on 5 days off and have a run of 7 off coming up which will be great!
I am loving work, so great to be back amongst adults again! I am starting my graduate diploma in February and can then get it out of the way before baby number 2. We have decided we will wait until the end of the year to start trying again. Good luck with the working Tania, it's great once you get going, i'm sure you'll love it.
Matthew's parents have booked a trip out, they arrive in May for 3 months, EEK!! We have booked a week in Palm Cove as a surprise for them and they are also house sitting for friends of ours for a few weeks so hopefully we won't get under each others feet too much!!
Elliot still has about 2 night time feeds, usually 10pm, 2am then feed at 5am and up out of bed. Last night he went from 7pm to 2am but alas it was just a one off!! Hoping that one day we will get a full nights sleep, well I live in hope anyway!
I have become a Mummy ambassador for Pinky McKay, she sent out a call to arms for some followers to spruik her latest book and having already read two of them and absolutely loved them I was only too happy to oblige. I'm sure that I will be buying a copy of her "Toddler Tactics" book before too long! I will certainly be getting my copy of "Parenting by heart", she has helped me through some rough times! I have also got my 2 sisters onto her books, I now have one niece, a nephew due in Feb and a niece/ nephew due in July, crikey! I've posted a link if anyone would like to have a look, not sure whether it may get removed though we'll see.
i will vouch for toddler tactics... brilliant!! and trust me i have quite the toddler lol i have the 2 others too.. only baby books i own. they have done many a trip in an aus post trucIk to friends (tiht asses who wont buy a book but happier to loan them that than someone ive them some other tripe!
OK ... THATS IT FOR KNOW THIS LAPTOP IS IVIN ME THE POOPS... I SHALL RETURN IN THE AM.. OR THE WEEKEND OR NEXT MONTH.. LOL
Hey ladies,
I have one pinky mckay book shona, but i did want to get that book in the link looks good. I am really enjoying information from Dr Sears atm so i've got a couple of his books also + one about 'colic' (read: reflux and cow's milk protein allergy). can't remember the author and can't be bothered checking lol.
Shona i'm with you on the getting into everything. William has fallen off the bed several times now, also tried eating alfoil (our cats have alfoil balls to play with) several times & just this morning he tumbled in the shower and now has an egg onhis head. He however has been pulling himself up since a week after crawling and is now walking around furniture quite well. Just starting to let go to stand. i think in a couple weeks he will be walking! eek!!
I'm so glad the working and daddy at home is working out for you! That's great to hear. Equally as great to hear only two feeds a night? Are you bf him or is he getting ebm at night?
now can you tell me how you did it?! lol. William can wake up anywhere from 2 times to lots lol. he also wakes up at 5.30 when he hears DH's alarm which sucks cuz he'd sleep longer if he didn't hear it. at least 5.30 is an improvement on the 4.00 we were getting. also sending him to bed later which is probably helping - although it sucks because i'd like a break from him alot earlier.
Lol tan at the lack of 'g' still. haha.
William's gums are super bumpy and the top two are cutting still (at 2weeks and they still aren't thru!); that will bring us to 5 teeth when they are thru. Had a couple horrible days and lots of panadol; then found his amber necklace and no more panadol! why did i ever take it off! lol
AFM - i am still losing weight and am getting side affects (dizziness, headaches) from it...off to doc today and natropath next week. I think it could be fat malsbsorption; shona - any info on what may be in store for me test and treatment wise if thats the case? Getting side affects that point towards it care of google info. not sure my doc is guna like me walking in there with google info; but she is stumped and the other gp just told me that william can't possible be allergic to cows milk and that i need to be having dairy and referred me to a paed *sigh*. I'm running out of kg's to loose, and fast. Enjoy your curves and bumps everyone cuz i would give anything to have some....and keep your fingers crossed i dont have to give up bf because of it! also get williams results from his RAST (allergy) test today. Got tested for egg, dairy, peanuts and something....lol i can't remember what the last thing is......yep i really can't remember. although i dont want him to be 'allergic'; at the same time i do so that the doctors will believe me how he reacts! will see i suppose.
thats about all from me for now. hope the rest of you are all well!
I hope you and your families are all well and have managed to be ok throughout all the disasters this country seems to be having. What a crazy year it has been already.
First Tan did i read correctly that you are pregnant again, if so congratulations!!!!!! Crazy girl I hope you have been feeling ok, when are you due? How are the boys going?
Anita, how are you going? How is Shea going?
Kirley, How are things going with you? How did the allergy tests go with William?
Shona, How are things going? Elliot sounds like he is doing well.
Hello to everyone else
Well all i can say is i love this age, i wish they would stay like this forever accept sleep better maybe. Taz has been properly crawling around since beginning of Jan and is getting into everything and anything he can. How do they know to go for all the things they are not supposed to. He is so much fun full of smiles and funny faces. He has just started pointing (i dont think he is pointing to anything specifically though) accept when a face or a dolly or teddy comes near him he has started pointing at their noses and eyes. He pointed at my friends babies nose last week which was very cute.
We are having some issues with sleep at the moment, Taz seems to be waking anywhere from 2-5 times a night. The other night he woke up at 1am and decided it was play time arghhhhh it is driving me crazy and tired. This weekend we have put him in his cot in his own room (he has his day sleeps in there) and Friday night he only woke up once, last night he woke up twice so we will see how tonight goes. We are also going to try and stick to a routine to see if that helps as it looks like i might have a job working in the after hours doctors service call center at nights and weekends. The only thing is i will have to start at 5 if i do a shift during the week which means he will miss his 6:30pm booby. I think he will be OK as he eats a big dinner, we will trial a couple of evenings over the next 2 weeks to see how he copes and it will probably only be 2-3 shifts during the week.
Anyway ladies i am going to bed, i hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.
Allergy test came back low for egg; nothing for the other 3 although i still can't give William Dairy or Soy without (or i can't have) a reaction; so really the allergy test meant nothing :S
I'm with you BM that i love this age atm!
We have ditched the dummy for a week and it has been successful; william is also in his own room now although we still co-sleep on the floor in there for half the night; yet to get the second half down pat~
Good luck with the Job BM!
I want to be pregnant again!! Anyone heard from Teni?
we have internet again!!!!!! and a home phone.... after 8 bloomin weeks of phone calls, if i had a dollar for everytime i was put on hold oh the pretty things i could buy! and yes i am utd... insane huh, we had decided to stop trying for coop's sake, he just isn't ready for another big change but oh well he is over 7 months to get used to the idea! perhaps it's telstra/bigpond's baby, seeing as how they have down nothing but f**k us over hahahaha
edd 7th oct makes me 6 and abit weeks so early days yet... i am tired and lacking appetite and ironically am too "big" to birth in the birth centre in either mackay or townsville *sigh* boardline BMI will know for sure monday. have an ultrasound to check for twin gestation on monday too.
A is walking, he had been taking steps for a good month aand half now but as of yesterday he walked all day, no crawling - grown up waaaay to fast! we have just come out the end of horrid all night wakings too BM... i do wonder though how my supply is holding up with the baby baking and fast developing 'toddler' i suppose that is waht he is now... he is so not my baby =( ok must finish setting up this stoopid thub phone thing while he naps and coop is suck into his movie!!
Tan: congratulations again and great news on the birth centre! Have you been to look at it yet, it's lovely
Kirley: Teni seems to be going good, being closely monitored for baby's progress but is about 36 weeks so not long to go!
We are pretty good, Elliot has been in his own room about a week now and he doesn't seem to mind one bit. Still wakes up a few times per night so hasn't helped in that respect but he really loves his room. I think that BF may need to be knocked on the head shortly, Elliot has a complete dislike for boob since we started feeding him EBM, not happy to work for his milk! Subsequently my milk is drying up at a rate of knots, I relied on him to keep my supply up on my days off as I just cannot pump enough. Today it has taken me 3 pumping sessions to get 100mls and usually I would have had that and more in one go. I desperately wanted to get to 12 months but may have to admit defeat. Next time I will be definitely taking longer off work!
I have finally got my AF back about 28 days ago, awaiting second one arriving. We had a little "mishap" a couple of weeks ago and I am really hoping that it arrives! We had decided that we weren't bothered if we had another baby now, but then I changed my mind, oops! As long as I am not UTD now, we wil be waiting till early next year to start trying.
Hope everyone else is well and enjoying our fast growing babies.
Hey ladies,
Good luck with AF shona! haha.
no af here for me yet which is great in one respect!! but bad in another - i think it has more to do with the fact that i'm not putting on any weight.
on lots of pills and potions to try and make me put on weight and get rid of my candida and making me start absorb things ( i have malabsorption).
sucks in terms of trying for another baby for us *sigh* oh well. i will just have to stay clucky and love everyone elses babes!
just a quick on from me cuz i'm about to go to work.
talk soon
