im in the stage of just getting my body back, klol
we are still trying to BF Maree has FF at day care and i BF at night and in the morning expressing is just not working for us.
oh yes very busy here 2 YO who is Tting herself, a 10yo who thinks he is 20. and renovating our house so we can sell
plus working 4 days a week its all fun and games.
havent got to teething yet, but bubba has been very drouly and snotty so think its not to far off.
she is a magical bub sleeps from 7 till 7 over night and is not whingy at all unlike my 2 yo..
hope to get to knowyou and your little ones over time
I've been trying to snatch time all day to post - here's hoping I can get this written now.
kawazuki - Welcome! Wow, how on earth do you juggle everything?
Carmey - Good to see you posting I'm pretty sure that Liam's teething (drooling, whingey, biting everything, sleep gone to hell) as well. And boys can wear amber necklaces - I have one coming in the mail for Liam
Alison - I'm glad that Amelia has been sleeping better, and that the feed changes are going well. As for stopping the use of a monitor, I'd say that 6 months could be the go there (correct me if I'm wrong, though, anyone) since the SIDS guidelines recommend sleeping bubs in the same room for 6 months.
willow - I don't know how you're coping at all with the 2 hourly feeds at night. I find it hard enough on nights when Liam is up three times. Liam does the smile and chat while feeding, too, which is super cute
Tilda - I was considering looking into going to a mother and baby unit. My doctor actually recommended a stay when I was diagnosed with PND, mostly because I was a complete mess at the time. I'm seeing her again next week, so I'll see what she says. I'm just thankful that I have family who help out a lot. I don't think I'd be coping at all otherwise. Honestly, I can really see why it used to be recommended for lupus patients not to have children - it's damn difficult. Not that it's easy for anyone, of course. Matilda sounds very much like Liam with getting overtired (down to making the same noises). It's really hard, isn't it? Why do they fight sleep so much? Argh! I hope the physio is helping out your back and neck, too - it must be really hard doing everything with that pain
suz - 0! Goodness, and I was thinking that it was chilly here last night. It was balmy!
beany - Gorgeous photos on FB (just have to say it again - your little man is gorgeous!). My SIL doesn't do anything special to get her little girl to sleep - she just came that way! She was sleeping through for 8+ hours at a couple of months old, and just falls asleep anywhere with only a little rocking or a feed. The poor little bub has really bad eczema, though, so it's not all easy going for them.
And if I've missed anyone, hi!
AFM - Things have been okay here. Liam's been more settled the last few days, though he had a couple of mini meltdowns today. He's been sleeping better at night, too, only waking 2-3 times to feed. I've managed to settle him a couple of times without feeding, which is always a bonus. His naps are still shot, though - I'm getting 20-30 minutes most of the time, with one sleep of 40-50 minutes a day. But he's taking a decent number of those catnaps, which is enough to keep him from getting majorly grizzly. I think he's over the effects of the immunisations last week, too, though he still seems to have some digestive upset from the rotavirus vacc.
In the last couple of days I've noticed him making some developmental leaps. Suddenly he's really good at reaching for objects and holding them, and he can lift his whole upper body up when on his belly. He still doesn't show much interest in rolling, though he's done it a couple of times, but likes to move from his back to his side a lot. And he's discovered his feet (and that he can put them in his mouth). He can commando crawl after a fashion as well, which is adorable.
I've been trying to make an effort to get out and walk every day again. Mostly because I want to shift some of this damn weight, but it's also good for my general mood and it's good for Liam to get outside. I think people think I'm slightly bonkers for going walking in the rain, though! The storm cover for the pram is a good thing
Hi Carmey Go Jack with the commando crawling!
He sounds like my DS2 with the solids, crying when it's all gone and making the excited hungry noise when he sees it, very cute! I had to feed DS2 with two spoons and give him a bit of banana or something in his hand he'd yell in between spoonfuls if you didn't get it in quick enough
Sounds like you've been very busy with the move, glad you're loving the new place.
Hi Kawazuki Well you sound like Wonder Woman to me, with the 3 kids and working 4 days!! I was just thinking the other day I'm glad I'm not working as I don't think I'd manage, I just can't seem to get into a routine of any kind and most of the time I walk around like a zombie to tired to think! I don't remember it being this hard when I had the first 2...maybe I'm just too old now LOL
Was your 2yr old a good sleeper as a little bub?
Hi Rose Glad to hear Liam's been a bit better for you. Maybe the combination of the new leap and feeling better after his needles has pepped him up and settled him down so to speak.
And yay for the commando crawling too! Harry only kind of spins himself around in a circle. He only has the odd day where he's into rolling too, he's checked out his feet but seems to have lost interest now.
Good on you for getting out for a walk every day even in the rain, who cares what the neighbours think!
Harry was a little better last night he fed at 9.30 then 12.30 then 2.30 then slept until 6! He fed at 6 then slept again until 8 so for us that's great!
The carpenters are here putting up the framework today and are very amusing singing along to their radio in funny voices, I think they're either taking the p***, or they have terrible voices LOL
We had another cold night here last night yuck! Not quite as cold as the night before I don't think, but still cold! what did you think Suzi?
Oh and Suzi the shoulders are feeling it a bit! And I have the same old lady hunch happening specially when I'm really tired.
Willow - I think the cold weather is here to stay Usually it holds off until ANZAC Day, it seems to be early this year. Love the chippies at your place, we have lots of mates in the trade and they're all *bad* singers too. Good boy Harry, get that sleep happening!
Rose - I think the Rotavirus can affect them for up to a week later. Ryan is very similar to Liam with his development. Haven't seen the commando crawl yet though. Good on you for walking, even in the rain!
Kawazuki - Wow! I don't know how you do it, I guess you just do? We're TT here with our 2YO and he's had sleep dramas but hopefully sorted now. No idea how you do that with work and a 10YO!
Alison - No idea about the monitors, we've only ever used one occassionally (hanging out washing outside).
Tilda - Human dummy, that's me too. Craig also slept though and was fully BF, so maybe it's genetic? But I admit I used to BF Craig then rock him to sleep until he was 11 months old, then had to do Controlled Comforting with him aged 12 months because we couldn't get him to go to sleep. I've been trying to put Ryan in the cot when he's still awake so that he self settles (so far so good) but I still have him nod off at the milk bar sometimes.
Carmey - Hi!!! Glad to hear the move went well. Also glad to hear Jack's taken so well to solids. Craig used to want to feed himself so I had to give him a spoon as well. It does sound like Jack's teething. I'm thinking of getting Ryan an amber necklace. Do you do your solids at night time? Maybe that will help him sleep better at night?
AFM - Now that Craig is sleeping again, we're hoping that he gets back on track with the TT. He got up once last night to go potty then straight back to bed. Looks like we won't need Sleep School, which is great because a friend of mine just went with her 4 month old and had a terrible experience. I thought they didn't do Controlled Comforting/Teaching to Sleep with babies under 6 months. The nurse said that their baby looked tired, put him in the cot and closed the door. Then he cried for over an hour and my friends decided to take bub and go home. I thought the idea was that they supported you while you settled bub (I'd cry too if some stranger put me to bed)? I've asked my friend if they let her go back in (CC gets you to go back in at 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20 minute intervals) because if they didn't that would be awful! I'm really glad we did it at home by ourselves, in the bed Craig is used to.
Ryan is now blowing raspberries!!! Only months after all his baby buddies did it, but it's so cute. He waits until he's got your attention and then bbbbbbrrrrrrthththththtppppppppth!!! I have it on video, will have to post it to facebook.
Hi Suzi Yay Ryan with the raspberries He's not behind all the buddies Harry still hasn't mastered it, he desperately wants to but not there yet
Excellent that Craig is sleeping again!
OMG! Your poor friend and their 4month old!!!!! That sounds very old fashioned and cruel, I could never leave them to cry like that, imagine how scared and abandoned they would feel! Good on them for taking him home! Doesn't sound like support to me sounds more like standing guard so the weak parents don't go in and comfort their baby.
Knowing a few tradies could save you guys a bit when/if you decide to extend too. Even though the singing isn't great LOL.
I'm going to check out the teething necklaces today too I think Harry's starting to have some action happening there too and I'm liking the idea of trying more natural stuff first up.
AFM Harry had another better night last night, fed at 9pm, then 10.30, then didn't wake again until 2.30!! Then he woke at 5.30 fed and slept again until 7.30 I know it doesn't sound like much to all you girls with all night sleepers, but for us this is great!
Willow - That's great sleeping action from Harry! Hopefully he can start stretching out those feeds.
Suz - That's awful about your friend's sleep school experience. That's not teaching a baby to sleep, that's just scaring the living daylights out of it! So you ended up doing CC with Craig eventually? I'm dreading having to do any CC with Matilda. I've just read the No-Cry Sleep Solution and I might start using some of the strategies for slowly getting them used to falling asleep without the boob in the next month or two. It's hard to get motivated to do it because it feels like an easy way to get her to sleep now (usually) but I know it could get to be a problem later.
Rose - I'm glad you feel like the Mother and baby unit is an option for you. I think if it's there why not use it when the need arises. And I can imagine its so important not to let yourself get too run down with an autoimmune thing. The physio was great thanks. I'm in a bit of pain tonight but I overdid things today. Overall my pain levels have been way better than I expected. Funny that Liam makes the same tired noises
Kawazuki - OMG you must be so busy!! I'm impressed you even get time to get on here and post! It's lucky you have such a good sleeper given how busy you are.
Carmey - you must be feeling like a complete zombie waking up 8 times a night you poor thing!
Hi Alison and Beany and everybody else too busy to post! Sorry my personals got shorter and shorter to the point of only saying hi. I'm just whacked tonight.
AFM - As I was saying very tired. After a stellar night the night before last (only waking once at 4am) we had a not so great night last night and started the day at 5am. And she's only taken 40 minute naps all day and been quite the task master in between . For example, she's not satisfied to just go for a walk in the pram. I also had to sing or she would start grizzling. I realised how unfit I was trying to walk and sing at the same time. I probably looked like a crazy lady. What you do to keep them happy huh!! And she refused to take the last nap of the day an I'm wondering if it's because she's hanging out for her bath. As soon as I turn the bathroom light on all grizzles stop and I get big beaming smiles and excited noises. I should probably start taking her swimming since she likes the water so much. Oh and I hope the Perth girls had a good catch up (I felt very glum not to be there).
Hi Tilda Isn't it terrible when they spoil you with a good nigh, only to make you pay for it later!
Good to hear your pain has been better than expected.
Harry loves his bath too gets very excited I've been thinking the same about taking him swimming.
Well the last 2 days and nights have been quite good, the nights have been improved, and even feeding through the day has been calmer, I'm really hoping it keeps up.
Oh and very disappointed, I finally got on to the Amber Bebe website and ordered a teething necklace only to get a call a half hour later to say she was all out of stock for 2 weeks oh well that'll teach me to procrastinate! Very nice of her to call me so soon though I thought, good for business.
Just a quick post. Ryan is rolling! I laid him on his back on the bath mat and went out of the bathroom to get his towel. When I came back in he was on his tummy. I assumed Craig was the culprit, so I put Ryan back on his back, went out to the kitchen and came straight back in and he was on his tummy again. I flipped him over again and sat on the toilet talking to him and he did it while I was watching. YAY! I thought it couldn't be far away because he's been rolling to his side and pulling his feet up to his face. It's been a big week for him, he's 20 weeks old tomorrow.
I'll have to try and keep this short as DH is due home any minute with our naughty din-dins (mmm....red rooster!).
Tilda - oh thats so cute that Matilda gets all smiley when she knows its bathtime. I don't think Michael has quite worked out when it means bathtime...he loves it once he's in there tho. Michael has been having 30-40 mins naps during the day...now its only 3 times a day too. I don't know how he's not more tired to be honest. I'm hoping its just a phase. We missed you yesterday! We needed Matilda to even out the boy-girl ratio!
Willow - I'm glad Harry's nights are starting to get a bit better. He's a real cutie, btw! Such a real character
Suz - Wow, thats just awful about that sleep school. That just doesn't sound right to me. How is that helping the parents? Or the baby, for that matter? Good on them for going home, I think I would have too. Haha, thats great Ryan is blowing raspberries. Michael has only just started about a week ago too. Its so cute isn't it? Tho he can make a bit of a mess with drool flying everywhere!
Rose - was great catching up yesterday! And yes, I think we should try and make it once a month, that would be good How was Liam last night?
Kawazuki - Wow, 7 til 7! That must be bliss! Does she wake up at all during the night?
Carmey - I reckon he might be teething! I just ordered an amber necklace today, I think they'll look ok on a boy, I went for the one with the darker stones. Oooh, solids sound so much fun! I can't wait! Thats great he's crawling! I can't get Michael to move an inch, either on his back or on his stomach. I'm lucky if he rolls to one side! Lazy little so-and-so!
Alison - was great catching up with you again too! Is Amelia still going ok with the 4 feeds? I tried Michael with his Sophie giraffe again today (hadn't given it to him for a couple of weeks) and he likes it now!
Hello to everyone else!
AFM - Michael is getting 2 teeth!!!!!!! I got the shock of my life, I had been keeping an eye out but I hadn't looked in his mouth for a couple of days. Looked today and lo and behold you can just see these little white lines coming up through the gum! I think I actually looked because he's having real trouble sleeping during the day (ok at night so far...touch wood). But apart from that and being a bit grumpy, (oh, and the usual drooling and hand-chewing) I wouldn't really have known!
Last night was scary...DH went out to visit his mum, so I was on my own. Michael went down as normal at 7pm. He has NEVER woken up from this sleep till at least 3.30am (earlier when he was feeding more often tho)...and at 8pm I hear this almighty cry. It was a real loud cry, went in and he was crying just like how he did when he got his needles. But I'm pretty sure he had his eyes closed so perhaps he was still asleep? He wouldn't stop so I picked him up, kept crying with his eyes closed. Eventually he stopped and I put him back down. But I wonder what it was? Poor little darling, I was so scared.
Went to Target today, was majorly disappointed to find they had sold out of the lovely owl stuff they had in their catalogue...this is within an hour of them opening! Grrrr!
Ok, I think thats it for now. Good job DH has got held up getting dinner!
Just popping back in quickly! Looks like a few of us posted at the same time.
Beany - That sounds like a 'night terror'. Ryan hasn't had one yet but Craig has them. They aren't awake when they happen so it's hard to settle them but they usually go back to sleep by themselves and have no memory of what happened. Congratulations on teeth! It's good to have them out of the way and know that he wasn't too unsettled.
Carmey - Hi!
Willow - Bummer about the teething necklaces. I was going to order one too. Sounds like Harry's fussy period is over and he's in to the Wonder Week now
Tilda - I had a little smile to myself reading about you singing while walking the pram. Made me think of singing Wiggles songs in the car in the hope that Craig wouldn't fall asleep before we got home. I only had to CC with Craig because he was BF to sleep or rocking aged 11 months. If you follow the No-Cry Sleep Solution over the next couple of months then you won't be CC with Matilda. I'm trying to do the same with Ryan.
Hi Beany 2 teeth way to Michael with not much fuss! I ordered the same necklace as you, did you order from Amber Bebe? You might have got the last one, you beat me to it! lol
Harry has done the loud crying with his eyes closed to, I don't know if it's just a passing wind pain or maybe a bad dream, although I don't know what bad things they would dream about, but it's not nice!
Good night Carmey Hope you get a decent sleep.
YAY Ryan rolling and raspberries all at once! I certainly hope we're into the wonder week, I could do with the rest! Night terrors this early? It definitely is like that, but like I said to Beany What bad things would they dream about, obviously something, maybe Harry dreams he's in the car at night lol
Hi Everyone - just a quick one as I'm ready for beddy byes....been a busy day.
Hi Beany - I went to Target too and the same thing here, grrrr. That sounds like Michael had a nightmare, Amelia has done that before, it's not nice is it. Poor things.
Hi Willow - bummer you missed out on your necklace, I'm glad I got mine when I did then. Has anyone ordered one of the BB lanyards? I did ages ago and haven't got it yet!
AFM - to answer your question Beany, Amelia's 4 feeds is working great thanks, I put her down at 8.00 pm last night and she slept until 7.00 am this morning....she fussed around 3.30 am (always around that time hey) but I just patted her back a couple of times and walked out, that was it until this morning. I tell you I think this necklace really helps (I put it around her ankle at night), along with the 4 feeds, her tummy is obviously more content now.
Anyway, gotta run, verrrry tired, will post some more tomoz.
beany - I've been thinking the same with Liam on days when he only has 2-3 20-30 minute sleeps, I'm always surprised that he isn't totally cranky all day. Today he did one 1.5 hour sleep for the first time in a while, though, so I'm hoping that he'll get his sleeping back on track soon. Aww poor Michael - I wonder if it was a bad dream or maybe some teething pain?
suz - Go Ryan with the rolling!
willow - Glad that your nights have been better. Bummer about the necklaces being sold out, though.
Tilda - I've been slowly trying some of the No Cry techniques with Liam, though most of that has gone out the window with him being so unsettled for the last week. He's been fed or rocked to sleep all the time (mostly fed) but the last few days he's been a bit different - I'll feed him until he's sleepy, but when I try to rock him to sleep he gets restless. If I keep rocking, he wakes up again, but if I put him into his crib and pat him a bit and maybe give him his dummy, he does to sleep. It's almost like he's decided that he wants to learn to sleep on his own. I imagine it'll all change again soon, though. Which is a longwinded way of saying that Matilda might grow out of needing to be rocked/fed on her own. And we missed you at the meetup - we *must* catch up when you're here again!
Hi to everyone else!
AFM - Have had a couple of good days with Liam - he's been much better with sleeping at night, only waking once for a feed each night, though he's half woken a couple of times grizzling for his dummy. He also managed one nap today that was an hour and half (and that was bliss - I managed to get stuff done around the house for once!). I'm hoping that he's on the other side of the wonder week now. He definitely seems to have made a developmental leap practically overnight. Gosh, I love just watching him develop - it takes me surprise every time he starts doing something new.
Despite having a couple of nights of good sleep, I'm exhausted today. I've been out walking every day this week, and I think that and the weather are doing me in a bit. Hopefully I can get another good night tonight. I should go and try to sleep soon I think.
Our play date with our Mother's Group was this morning. One of those kiddy places with the ball pits. Craig had a great time and only got a little testy when some older boys started getting rough in the ball pit. I hauled him out for a pre-emptive calm down/time out, just as the baby chinos arrived. He played for a while longer then started to look tired so we had a sandwich and left. Straight to bed when we got home with minimal fuss. This time it was one of the boys Craig bit last week that was the biter, biting one of the girls. All the extra sleep definitely helped.
Rose - Hope you get that 3rd night's sleep tonight. Isn't it weird when they suddenly do a big day sleep? I didn't know what to do with myself today when Ryan had a big sleep out of the blue. Sounds like Liam is trying to teach himself to sleep. Go with it I say
Alison - Yay for Amelia dropping down to 4 feeds and sleeping so well! I hate how Target never restock their shelves. They're as bad as Toys R Us!
Willow - Yeah, it's usually 2 year olds with the night terrors, but Craig had them as a baby too. No idea what a little baby would dream about that would make him so frightened but who knows how our brains work Maybe it is wind and they just don't wake up?
Alison I read that the delivery of lanyards arrived on Friday so your lanyard should arrive soon.
Rose Is Liam still sleeping well for you? I hope it wasn't a passing phase like Harry! How's the self settling going? That's great if he's decided he'd like to put himself off to sleep now
Suzi Glad the play date went well. Has the TT gotten back on track yet? I'm sure the extra sleep will help there too.
AFM Well Harry teased me with the two good nights he's been back to 2 hourly feeds the last two nights so I'm feeling really tired again, I can't believe how even one extra hour between wakings makes such a big difference but I really feel it
I'm off to watch DS1 play soccer this afternoon hopefully Harry behaves while we're there there'll be plenty to look at so he should be ok. I really don't feel like going I'm just so tired, but I haven't seen any of his games this year so I'll feel too guilty if I don't go.
Hope everyone's well and having a good weekend, hope you're enjoying being home BS.
I better go and try to find some motivation to get organised for soccer
I just tried to join Weight Watchers online (I'm a lifetime member) and it says I can't as I don't have enough weight to lose, WTF!!!! I'm currently 6 kgs heavier than my pre pregnancy weight and 8 kgs heavier than my goal weight when I did it a few years ago!!!! Honestly girls, I finally bite the bullet to do something - WW will motivate me - and I hit a brickwall. I've emailed them asking why. I am going for a walk this arvo with my friend and her bub but I refuse to pull on these tight shorts and wear my husband's t-shirts to hide my fat guts any more, it's disgusting and about time I stopped using the "I just had a baby" excuse. I'm 5'3" and look revolting when I'm fat and it's making me feel horrible.
Anyway, that's my vent for the day. DH is down at the block for the night finishing off some things down at the holiday house so I'm going for a long walk with a friend. I'm sore from boxing and playing tennis on the Wii yesterday, that's how unfit I am. I just can't stop eating crap, the only time I don't is when I'm out at the shops but then I spend money so that's just as bad! lol Amelia is having a nap finally, she's been a little whiney today and her first two naps were shorter than usual. I think her teeth are really bothering her these last 24 hours, poor bubby.
Hi Alison not only are we the old girls in here, but we're the short girls too ..although at 5'3" you're taller than me, by like 1inch
If WW won't let you join there's a website I used before I fell pg called Kalorie King, it's free to join and it was really good. It works on calories rather than points, but you can meal plan for a week on there, breakfast lunch and dinner. You put in what exercise you're doing and it works out how much you're burning and you weigh in each week. I found it great, and it has calories of almost every food you can think of, lots of brands, take aways etc.
