Alison - Ha ha. It's so much fun learning all the things you and I have in common. Maybe the fact that we're both geminis explains it. Amelia's long sleep could be part of the growth spurt or she could be making up for waking so much at night. I hope she's not sick too.

Carmey - I'm going to hold you to that. I don't want to read on Monday that you wound up cooking this weekend. Have a good one.

It looks as though mum will be home on Tuesday. So far she's gotten oral thrush and a chest infection WHILE she's been in hospital. At least they sorted out her pain, but I'm sure she wouldn't have gotten sick at home. :crossfingers: she comes home next week.

Carmey - No you're not being a princess, you have pneumonia! Sheesh! :hug: I hope your DH comes around and is a bit more supportive so you can get better. Why is it that as soon as our DH's are sick that we have to do everything and nurse them as well, but when we are sick no one looks after us and we're still expected to do everything?

Hannah - The thing that sucks about advice is that the giver usually means well. But you don't have to accept the advice and the fact that the GP suggested you put Amelia in childcare does not mean people think your a bad mother for wanting to care for her yourself no matter how hard it gets. I wonder if she has kids? Or if she put them in childcare early? I know that before I had kids I couldn't understand why women wouldn't let someone else mind them if it was offered, of course things are different now! :crossfingers: I hope your Mum is well enough to be out of hospital for your birthday. Hope that your Dad's anniversary isn't too tough on you today. :hug: What's a 'lovey', is it a blanket?

Alison - Even Ryan has been waking up crying and hasn't done so since the last WW. Then he sleeps in. I think I read that they sleep more just as they hit the end of the WW? Now I have to pull the book out again :) Just work with Amelia and fit things around her, but don't give up walks or time out of the house. It'll be over soon and there's a nice gap before the next one.

AFM - DH is away down the coast (riding his dirtbike now he's all healed after his accident) and it's raining here. I was supposed to have Boot Camp this morning, but our trainer cancelled (too many of us away). My parents, brother and SIL and her kids are coming over for BBQ dinner tonight, so I'm planning what to cook before heading down the shops. Ryan's still unsettled, so we're not out of the WW yet. It was just his feeds that were affected, but now it's sleep too.

suz - Thanks for the perspective. Yesterday was just a really bad day. A 'lovey' is pretty much anything that bubs attaches to, like a security blanket or favourite toy. I'm making a knotted doll (well 2 actually so that she still has one while one is in the wash). I've had the fabric cut out for weeks but having had a chance to sew it until this week. Enjoy the BBQ tonight. Hang in there, this WW is almost over.

Hello my lovelies!

Thanks everyone for your support over the last week, listening to me whinge and crap on! I THINK and I say it in capitals we might be nearing the end of the WW, pray pray pray! Amelia slept so much yesterday, 3 hours and then after 1.5 hours went back down for another 2 hours, she only woke twice last night and just fussed didn't wake up and this morning she finished her bottle without fuss and went back down for another hour's sleep! We had swimming today as we didn't make it Wednesday, she loved it and guess what, she kicked her legs in the water for the first time and put her feet in her mouth for the first time today! Isn't it funny how the wonder week is so real...it's not until they suddenly start doing new things it really hits you. That book really is amazing isn't it. She loved swimming today, she was really vocal and laughed and squealed in delight, was so cute. DH took some video footage but mostly took pics, I was hoping for more video footage, grrrrr. The girl from work that annoys me was there, didn't speak to her that much as she had a friend from her mums group there, didn't bother me as I had the same ha ha. Her daughter is so tiny though, I don't reckon she's getting enough milk and she said she hasn't put on much weight in the last month and that she's been pulling off the boob but she's not worried, WTF! This is the one who let her newborn sleep right through the night without waking her to feed, hmmm. Anyway, it's best I don't see her too much, things like that just irritate me ha ha. Also she didn't introduce me to her friend from mums group which I thought was rude, I made a point of introducing her to my friend from mums group, I actually said, is that your friend from mums group and she just went yeah and said her name but didn't actually say anything else. She probably whinges about me to the girl like I do about her ha ha! Oh well, who cares eh! DH really doesn't like her, I guess all the months of me coming home from work telling him things she would do and say put him on the wrong foot from the beginning lol....he said her baby ooks like an alien as she has massive eyes that just glare at you....he's kind of right but still it's not nice to say is it (quietly have a chuckle).

Anyway, guess I'd best get going, lots to do when Millie Moo wakes up.

Hope you are all well today and HAPPY 6 MONTH BIRTHDAY MICHAEL....can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks at our Perth girls catch up. xx Amelia is 6 months old tomorrow too, where on earth has that time gone!

the biggest dilema we have is deciding where we want to move to once we have finished renovating this place

OMG, I finally have internet access again!!! I don't know where to start! So much has been happening both on my end and everybody elses. And even BellBelly has gone and changed everything on me with this new format! I have missed everyone soooo much. It was funny, I was feeling really low one day after I'd just moved in to the new place and I was feeling a bit lonely. I put it down to new place, new city etc but then I realised that I was actually missing you guys! I'm used to all the instability in my surroundings but not my online life!

Well life has just been crazy. We packed up in Tassie, stayed in hotel in Sydney for a week, moved into our new place, went to Perth one week later, went down to Margaret River, back to Perth and now we're back in Sydney. (Sorry I didn't manage to catch up with the Perth Girls but was only there for a night on either side of Margaret River for the wedding - will do a proper trip later in the year). I'm not sure if Matilda has been through a WW fussy period or not. It's hard to separate what's fussiness and what's just our chaotic life. Actually she's dealt with it incredibly well and actually LOVED the trip to WA because she was surrounded by adoring grandparents, aunts, uncles, great grandparents, cousins, and the list goes on. It made me realise babies need to be around lots of people and not cooped up at home alone with their mum all day. It's just unnatural and modern life is sad like that but what do you do??? But all three of us came with a cold the night we got back to Sydney. Sounds like absolutely everyone has had them! Amusingly Matilda coped better and complained less than DH. And predictably I've been looking after everyone while trying to get over the cold myself. DH stayed home from work on friday and went to Bed for the WHOLE day. Now wouldn't that be nice! So Carmey, Alison, Hannah and everyone else having a vent, I read your posts vigorously shaking my head and tsk tsking your DHs. But DH has perked up a bit and started carrying the load a lot more over the WE.

Matilda is just being devine at the moment. I just love this age! She's so happy and playful most of the time. We've started solids as well. One meal of rice porridge with pear seems to be going down ok. But a lot of it ends up all over her and me. She loves to grab the spoon, suck it, chew it, rub the food all over her hands. A bib really doesn't cut it. Anyone have any ideas? Or do we just resign ourselves to three outfits a day? Now we're home we'll start experimenting more with different foods. Her sleep has been very inconsistent at nights. Sometimes she'll only wake twice sometimes its every hour or two. And the cold didn't help. So she'd ended up in bed with me a bit and we've kicked DH out. But her day sleeps have been much better. You just can't win! We still feed to sleep most of the time, but she's not insisting on it like she used to and will let DH settle her which is FANTASTIC. And during the night she'll occasionally self settle after a feed if she hasn't fallen asleep on the boob. We're living around more extended family in Sydney so I'm getting a LOT of opinions. I'm constantly being told to let her cry, but it just doesn't feel right yet. I think she's gradually learning to fall asleep herself and I have the luxury of giving her the time because she's my first. She's developing an attachment to a cardigan my grandmother knitted which helps her settle but I'm not sure if I should be discouraging this and getting a more appropriate lovey that could be replaced etc. And whether the cardy is a safe lovey, I don't know. What do you think?

Anyway, I'd better sign off before she wakes up. I still have so much stuff to do. Some of our boxes arrived on Friday and the place is a shambles. I will try to catch up on persies real soon. But hugs to everyone. And just quickly I hope your mum improves real soon Hannah! And Carmey, pneumonia, OMG!!!

Hi anyone else I've missed - how are we all?

AFM - it's stunning weather here in Perth today, just beautiful, the sun is shining and it's just glorious. And yep, you guessed it, after last week my mood has shifted and I am a happy chappy again! So far it looks like the wonder week has come to an end, my goodness what a horrible/hard week that was! Amelia is back to her usual self and is self settling to sleep again, not chucking tantrums, finishing her bottles etc etc. What a relief! I noticed yesterday she started to come good again and it was so funny because she started doing new things yesterday right on cue, feet in mouth, copying us with her mouth when we speak to her - she makes shapes with her lips like she's trying mimmick us ha ha. We took her swimming yesterday as I didn't go on Wednesday and she was kicking her legs in the water for the first time and squealing with delight, it was awesome. Everyone was laughing at her she was so entertaining. So glad DH was there to see it. Although, grrrrrrr - he was supposed to film the swimming but he only took pics and one pathetic 2 second film, WTFFFFFFFFFF!!!! Not happy Jan. Oh well, never mind. I went there yesterday feeling happy because I weighed myself yesterday and was down another 600 grams and another cm from my tummy but looking at the pics I look like a big fat heffar still......I'll be putting them on FB and you can see for yourself, I'm almost too ashamed to put them on really, yuk!!!!! So, this week's goal is to get stuck into some arm weights again and more exercise, I haven't done nearly as much as I should have. But, I'm halfway there, another 2.5 kgs will get me back to pre-pregnancy weight and I'll be happy, another 3/3.5 kgs and I'll be stoked!!!!!!!!!

Well, best run, Millie's asleep so want to finish putting some washing away, mostly her clothes mind you, the girl has more than me!!!!!! The 00's are looking a little tight these days so out come the 0's I think, my little girl is growing too fast. BTW, I think I have a super tall girl here, she's longer then all the boys in my mums group, it's embarrassing! She's going to tower over me....I just hope she's not super super tall, she might have trouble finding a boyfriend ha ha. Just kidding. (this is coming from me who's 5'3") so everyone is tall to me. :o

Oh and HAPPY 6 MONTHS OLD TODAY to my baby girl, I can't believe 6 months ago she entered my life, I don't know what I did with myself before she came along, she's brightened up my world in so many ways. The only thing I miss is a Sunday sleep in ha ha!

Hi Tilda - So great to hear from you! I'm glad the move to Sydney has gone well and that Matilda coped well. Amelia is also much happier if we get out of the house everyday. I think I have seen 'bibs' that have long sleeves, more like a smock really, but I can't remember where. That's great that Matilda is starting to self settle. Aren't you glad you followed your instincts? You gave her what she needed and let her decide when she didn't need it anymore. I guess the same goes for the lovey. It'd be hard to discourage her since she decided on it herself. How big is the cardigan? Would she still settle if she was wearing it? Or maybe remove any buttons so they don't come off by accident.

Alison - Happy 6 month birthday to Amelia :confetti: Your post reads much happier than the last few. I'm so glad Amelia has settled back down for you again. Woohoo for Amelia doing lots of new things. It's great watching them learn and grow but I also miss the tiny, helpless newborn. Well done on the weight loss!

AFM - Happy 6 month birthday to my girl! :loveshower: We've had 4 good nights now. Last night she slept from 10 until 7 this morning! Right now she is playing on the lounge room floor. She's attempting to crawl but mostly goes backwards. She is getting her legs underneath and lifting her bum off the ground though, so she has the idea, just needs the practice. Oops better go, I think she's had enough. She's making frustrated noises. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Argh, I'm way behind again with no time for personal replies. So good to see you posting, though, Carmey and Tilda!

I think that we *may* be coming through the other side of the WW as well. These last few weeks have been really, really hard - Liam's been so unsettled, hardly sleeping and needing 100% attention all day long. He's normally high needs, but this was crazy. During the week, I was pretty much on the verge of a breakdown about it all.

The last few days he's been different. His sleeping has been better - he's still waking 2-3 times a night, but feeding and then going back to sleep almost straight away (though we did have a few sessions of grizzling last night due to wind). But during the day he's been way more settled - much happier to be put down and amuse himself for a little while. Though as I'm typing this he's sitting next to DH and grizzling a bit - probably because he's tired, due to only having three 20 minute naps today. I hope that means that he'll sleep tonight!

We were planning on moving him into his own room this weekend, but since he's been better, we decided to leave it for a little while, mostly because it's much easier feeding him at night with the crib next to our bed (as opposed to on the other side of the cold, cold house!). Though it would probably be a good time to move him while he's settled, really.

He's been super smiley, too. And seriously obsessed with language - he'll just sit for ages and watch you as you talk, or put his hand on your mouth and throat as you talk. And imitate the shapes of our mouths. It's pretty damn adorable. He's still doing well on solids, too - eating his rice cereal and some veggies. I need to weigh him, since I think he's gained a fair amount last week again.

we have had a great weekend got so much done around the house, had a day away from teh sewing machien but ahd withdrawls so made DD some new pjs in cuddle fleece.. :D

yeh i like the idea of them being in your room. but we had to move DD2 out soon as we had no space lol oops. the problems with small houses.

hope everyone is out of the wonder weeks as we just slide into it.
maree ahs been off today not eating alot but still weeing alot and pooing.. so not to worried.. just hope she sleeps well tonight, she has hardly slept the poor thing..

And even tho I'm home all day, and he comes home for lunch, I do not cook him anything, I barely get time to sit down and relax myself so I'm not going to start making him lunch too. Make sure you start taking it easy, you need to get better! xx

Alison - thats great Amelia is coming out of the WW...I'm beginning to wonder if maybe we're just entering it....(see below) Is your DH tall too?

Hannah - thats great about Amelia's sleeping! Maybe she's got the hang of it now! And great that she's making attempts to crawl too :)

Hello to anyone I have missed!

AFM - UGHHH. Michael was waking literally EVERY HOUR last night, from midnight onwards. Typical, I'm going into work today so he's going to be all cranky for everyone. Doh! And yesterday we went to DH cousin's Confirmation, at the church he was great, sat quietly for over an hour during the service. Then at the end everyone clapped and he started crying...from then on he was just crying when we were outside the church catching up with DH family, but then his family are so darn LOUD...they were all coming right up to his face and sqwarking at him and crowding around him. Poor little darling. Went home and let him sleep...only just over an hour, then went out to the restaurant they all went to afterwards...big mistake. It was sooo noisy, he was crying at anything and everyone. And same thing, they were just all crowding him and shouting and being noisy. I just wanted to grab him and run out of there american-football style. Poor baby. And everyone's like..."gee, he cries a lot" No s*** mate!!! Perhaps if you get out of his face and stop shouting at him for a while maybe he won't? He's never like that, never. My poor little darling. I wonder if that affected his sleep last night maybe?

He's been rolling heaps too...only back to front tho. And sitting up, he can't pull himself up yet, but if I sit him he can support himself and doesn't fall fowards or sideways, but sometimes backwards still, on the odd occassion.

Another bath-related question...how does everyone wash their baby's hair? How do you stop the water from going in their eyes? And what baby-washes does everyone use?

Ok, I really need to get ready now...feel like I have so much more to write, but need to get a wriggle on! Hope you are all keeping well! xx

Rose - I'm glad Liam is happier and sleeping better. I hope you're able to get some much needed rest. That's so cute that he watches and tries to imitate you talking.

kawazuki - Congrats on your market place membership. How exciting! DH was not too impressed when I mentioned it to him....I've spent waaay too much on nappies lately. I hope Maree's WW isn't too hard on you.

beany - Poor Michael. Amelia doesn't like people in her face either. She much prefers to watch people for a while before she'll interact with them. It could have been the reason he slept badly last night. I find that Amelia doesn't sleep well if she's had a stressful day/evening.

I use Gaia bath products on Amelia as they're all natural. To wash her hair, I just put a couple of drops on her head and rub it in. Since she doesn't have a lot of hair yet, to rinse, I just wipe over with a wet flannel or pour water from my hand. I have been pouring water over head from a cup to get her used to the sensation. I just put my hand over her forehead and make sure her head is tilted back before I pour the water.

Beany - Craig used to be great at big gatherings like weddings and christenings until speech time when everyone starts clapping, then he'd cry. Poor Michael, I'd say that's why he kept waking up last night. Hope you have a better night tonight.
With the hair washing, we do the same as Hannah. I wet Ryan's hair with a wet face cloth, then a tiny bit of shampoo, rub it, then rinse with the wet face cloth again. For Craig, I have a special jug with a soft side that sits against his forehead so the water doesn't go in his eyes (from Big W, about $10). I use the Curash shampoo 'cause I like the smell, but Ryan has my sensitive skin so might go for the Gaia or something else next time.

Kawa - Saw DD's new pj's on FB, very cute and look really warm. Congrats on your marketplace membership! Your story about DD breaking your scales cracked me up. Craig's about the same age and likes to hop on the Wii Fit board, I'm lucky he hasn't discovered the scales hiding behind the bathroom door. Has Maree got her appetite back?

Rose - Liam sounds so cute watching you talking. Good luck for when you move him to his own room, I'm sure he'll be fine. Sounds like he's finished his WW :crossfingers:.

Willow - Damn I keep losing big posts too! I forgot to reply to you about using overlockers to hem jeans. You can use an overlocker to do hems, but IMHO it's easier to use a sewing machine. Plus if you only want one machine to start off with then the sewing machine is more versatile. I saw your FB status the other day 'gentle Harry!' Ryan also wants to give me big kisses and grabs my face really hard.

Alison - You seem so much happier :) You're doing really well not to have gone backwards with your weight loss. This week should be a good one for you now that Amelia's happier and your family are over the bugs. Bummer about DH not getting much video of the swimming lesson. You always make me laugh when you talk about your colleague with the baby :D

Carmey - If you're reading, I hope you're feeling better and your DH is helping out more.

Tilda - Great to see you! Big W and Ikea have bibs like little smocks with arms. Cotton on kids have nice big bibs. Glad to hear you've settled in to your new place.

Brussels - You must be flat out with work!

AFM - Halfway through the BB 12 Week Weight Loss Challenge! Off to Boot Camp tonight and looking forward to it. Ryan cried at me today until I gave him his rice cereal. His appetite has increased now that he seems to be finished this WW. Both boys kept waking up at night with DH away but were fine last night with DH back home.

Beany I feel your pain with waking every hour. I would say it had a lot to do with Michael's stressful day. Poor little munchkin. I wash Jett's hair with a little bit of shampoo on a face washer only every 3 or so days and use a face washer to run water to wash it out. Jett got cradle cap
quiet bad and GP said it could be a build up of shampoo.

Kawazuki- Love your fluffy stuff fan page. Can I ask do you make bibs? or would you? I am finding it really hard to find nice Boy bibs. Plenty of girl ones.

Rose- Liam sounds like Jett. Hopefully it is the end of the WW for you.

Hannah- Great work for Amelia sleeping right through can you ask her to send some tips through to Jett.

Alison- Glad Amelia's needles went well. Just think 6mths without any, however I am sure the 12mth ones will be hard.

What a hell of a time we have been having. Jett has been waking between 5-7 times a night. I am so exhausted. I tried to get him to take a formula bottle about a week and a half ago as I was exhausted and I thought that way DH could help and Jett had an allergic reaction to it. He took about 20mls of the formula and within 5 mins was covered in a red rash. Took him to the GP who said to try another formula and after only 5mls he had the same reaction. I am waiting to get into a Paediatrician, to see what I can do. We started solids over the weekend and Jett seemed to enjoy it which is good. He has only had cereal. I really hope this is a WW that seems to be taking a little longer to get to the other side. Jett has also worked out that he can squeal which is not very good. At the moment he has been asleep for almost 2hours, I should have lied down too but have too much housework to get done. Argh just as I wrote that he has woken. Argh

Hi Lovelies......well Lani & Beany, that definitely sounds like a Wonder Week to me. Amelia was the same, couldn't handle people/crowds and was waking heaps at night. My friend from mums group went through it last week as well and her little boy woke every hour for the whole week but she just emailed me this morning to say he's back to his old self again. She's exhausted though too. Don't worry, it feels like forever but it will pass soon I promise, Amelia is fine after her horrible week last week. Seriously, I nearly took her back to the hospital and asked for a refund! ;) You just have to ride it out.

As for washing Amelia's hair, show offs - she doesn't have enough to bother washing yet so I just use water at the moment ha ha. Like Hannah though I use Gaia products, Curash have some nice products too but the Gaia are the nicest in my opinion. Oh and Lani, that latest pic of Jett is just gorgeous!

Yay Beany for Michael rolling. Amelia is going all over the place now she can roll both ways. This morning I was getting breakfast and left her on her playmat, I went to come back into the lounge area which is attached to the kitchen and she had rolled almost into the kitchen, it was quite funny! Mind you, I think it means I now need to start "baby proofing" everything! Why are they growing so fast! DH was talking about baby number 2 yesterday, he wants to start trying at the end of the year, I'm a bit scared, especially after last week, that was a trying week that one!

Anyway best go, Amelia's having her nap after her needles, she only cried for 30 seconds, I was so proud of her. Especially as after waiting in the waiting room another 6 month old came out screaming from her needles and did so for 10 minutes, made me even more nervous!

Oh and Beany, DH is just under 6'3" so yep he's tall, I'm only 5'3" so she didn't get the height from me that's for sure ha ha!

Have a lovely day everyone, for those going through the WW, I feel your pain but know that it will end soon and don't fight it, just go with it. Try not to stress, I did and ended up dizzy by Friday night from stress and lack of sleep!:o

Alison I so know what you mean by saying you want a refund. I keep telling DH Jett is broken and we need a replacement. He keeps telling me he will fix himself.
If this is a WW it have been going on for nearly 3 weeks now ARGH
