Kaz- Yay on the weight gain! Bet you feel good about it
Nai- Glad you had a great time at the zoo, I'm taking DD to see Angelina Ballerina tomorrow night, so looking forward to some time just with her. Not sure what L will think of not having boobies on tap though!!!
Ali- Happy cleaning, I need to do some of that too, I can actually see dust on the computer screen as I type!!! Hope DD improves have you tried any new food with her lately that may not agree with her?
Olive- great catching up with you, Miss A says "I really do love S" on the way home..too cute.
We are going away on Thursday morning for a few days so won't be online, Nor sure how Dr Jay Gordan's going to work out in the caravan!!! Oh well. Going to stay positive.
-
nai glad you and G had a lovely day!!!
pinny was lovely seeing you guys today!! awwww so cute of A!!! i assume L is sleeping?? lucky duck
M is doing the funny break dancing move around the lounge, quiet funny actually!
-
Hi all,
Home from work now.
nai - yay on the sleep. I hope it is a sign of things to come. Glad you and G got a nice day out together.
Olive and Pinny - sounds like your bubbas have made improvements.
Glad the weight gain was good. You shouldn't feel silly about worrying as that's what us mums' do.
I hoope Ashlyn sleeps better tonight for you.
My mum turns 60 tomorrow, so we are off there and J is going to stay a few nights as i have to work again on Fri. He has decided that he is taking mum to the movies for her birthday. He is going to put money in his Bob wallet and buy her an ice cream and some popcorn! He has chosen "the Princess and the Frog." It is jsut so adorable. oh and we went to the shops to choose her a presentm and he has chosen her a batman toy! Lucky nanna!
-
Hi ladies,
Pinny - GL on the caravanning! Hope it works out for you and more importantly that you have a nice relaxing holiday/break!
Nai, sounds like you had a great day. Lovely weather for it too - not too hot! Awesome on the sleep through as well!
Ali - sounds like DD, she had fevers and needed lots of cuddles too. She also wakes grumpy, not her normal self. I really hope those pesky teeth come through soon for you.
Kaz - yay on the weight gain and on the HG going well. Weird about the complete change of tack... maybe he realised he had overstepped the mark and is trying to make it up???
Shell - yeah I'm assuming the same with my supply as well. I got a full bottle when I was away at NYE so I'm hoping as I get into it regularly at work it'll all settle into a pattern.
Scary - I'm back at work on Monday. Less than a week!
AFM: Not much to report. Don't think the formula DD had has agreed with her too well - she's been a bit gassy and blocked up. Think another tooth is coming through so that's not helping...
Hi to everyone else!!!
ETA: Meg that is so cute about DS with your mum. Must be lovely when they get to that age and can do things like that!
-
OP- what brand formula did you use? Yeah can be bit blocking if she isn't used to it.
Meg- Sooo cute! Lol. has he put coins in, if I ever say I have no money she gets her coins out and says 'here you go mummy, now you can buy....' Has he been to movies before? I'm wondering when I can start taking Ash, I feel still she won't sit thru one yet but she may surprise me.
Pinny- you'll have to let me know how Angelina is. I was contemplating taking Ash to it.
Nai- its nice to have those 1 on 1 time with our older ones, think its good for them too. Ash loves special time.
Ali- we had terrible terrible poo here when Ems tooth was coming thru. Her poor bum looked terrible.
Kaz- glad he apologised maybe he thought originally he was helping you out with only advice he knew. Yay on weight gain, its hard not to worry sometimes with these babies.
Olive- Yeah my mum did knit the extra blankie, thankgod! I never have to take the big one out now, just take the mini version.
Went out for dinner tonight bit of mistake, Emily does not like sitting still! Keep throwing everything onto floor, got thru tho!
-
Lewis is still not asleep & I really need to pack!!!:o Far out.....Sleep baby sleep
-
Wow, I'm having problems keeping up with the speed of this thread. I forgot what I was going to write.
Kaz - yah on J's weight gain
Nai - Yah on the night's sleep - hope she continues for you.
Holly - If the house feels right, then it usually is.
Meg - I think nana will love the batman toy!
Pinny - GL with the caravan - I'm sure everythign will be fine.
Sorry can't remember anything else - I've got mummy brain this week. I'm trying to write a letter to a literary agent and I've got teh memory of a goldfish. It reminds me of when I was on the IVF drugs and my brain would just drop out of conversations, and I'd be staring at someone, halfway through a sentance and have to say "I'm sorry what did I just say? What were we talking about? What is your name again?"
Is there anyone here that is not going back to work? I feel like the odd one out.
-
Malyna- I'm not going back to work just yet, I have extended my Maternity Leave until September.
Thank goodness Lewis finally asleep about 10 mins ago, DH ended up taking him to bed with him and patting his bum, I've just transfered him to his cot and he has finally settled  he sleeps soundly for at least the next 4/5 hours...
Good night going to bed now.....getting excited about Angelina Ballerina tomorrow with DD.
-
hey girls
still surviving here
DH still on hols here so doing family things everyday ATM! Went up to Shepparton today to the SPC factory and then to Kidstown- kids loved it including boof who played in the sandpit cruising on everything in sight! He loved going down the slides with his daddy - too cute
Malyna- i had been working since boof was born - but taking him with me- but think it has come to an end as it was with my dad and i have cracked it at him - so you an me hun will be S.A.H yummy mummies together lol!!
Kaz boof didnt put much weight on at 9 months- like 250g in a month- but the next month he put on around 1 kg- so he is over 11kg now lol- he has put on heaps more weight in the past two weeks as well- he is soo heavy and he is just a face full of cheeks lol
ali- i hear you with teeth! In one month we have gotten 6 extra teeth- at his 10 month check up he had two teeth and he now has four top and 4 bottom- definately notice the difference with his feeding- ouch lol but they are toughening up ! The amber necklace make soo much of a difference with teething- i actually notice when i take it off the difference!! He cut his eye teeth with minimal discomfort and he got a bottom tooth without me even noticing anything except him pulling his ear a couple of times!Maybe its worth giving one a go?? Helps heaps to stop nappy rash and face rash as well.
OP- GL with work next week- i miss you guys and cant wait to catch up soon!!!
Nai-congrats on a night through- still not happening here but it really doesnt bother me- i know it will eventually happen
Holly- awesome news about the house- you go girl!!
Pinny-mum= hope lewis goes to sleep soon- enjoy the caravan!
i would love to be able to caravan- but not much of a roughie- i get clastraphobic in a tent so a caravan is only the next step up for me- i can just tolerate going in one before it feels to enclosed for me
lilima- your mum is gonna love that batman toy= that is soo cute- awesome and happy birthday to your mum!
Boof has finally started feeding heaps less now- esp during the day. Even at night he is now sometimes happy with just a cuddle to go back to sleep. Its a bit sad in someways, but i am soo wrapped that we have got this far with demand feeds, no bottles and breast milk only. I really want to keep it going as long as he wants it and happy to do it for at least another 12 months.
OMG Boof just stood on his own for 10 seconds- he is soo close to just taking off its not funny! He get soo frustrated when he cant keep up with the others, but now he holds on to the back of his little trike and walks around the house with that to keep him balanced. too funny!
ok time to do some jobs!!
-
Sorry in advance for this self absorbed post...but really need your advice / opinions...
How do you deal with other people's older kids being too rough with bub?
I was in a situation today at my parents...A on the playmat...2 year old cousing arrives and takes over as 2 yr olds do...but was soooo rough that I had to keep moving A away while his mother just kept saying 'don't'...then when he got out of control she just said 'don't' and removed A from her toys and sat at the dining table with her...now A hadn't done anything 'inappropriate' so why should she be removed????? I was quick to take her and made it clear that I was only keeping her with me to keep her out of harms way! Am I being an unreasonable pregnant raging nut or does that seem unfair and teaching A that 'he' gets what he wants when doing the 'wrong' thing and she misses out on playing??? I am and was seriously P******ed!!!!
Thanks for listening...sorry if I should have posted this somewhere else!
-
ellie clearly it should have been the 2yr old that was removed from the situation and not A! grrrrr very annoying, is mum your sister or SIL???
malyna im a SAHM i havent worked in over 3 years, finished when DD1 was born, where i worked was too far to travel, was a shame cos i liked my workplace.
pinny hope L had a good night in the end and slept through!!
nai how did last night go??
det yay on the standing! M stands for a few seconds too :o so NOT wanting my baby to grow up :(
ARM M woke at 11 and 3 and resettled then woke at 5.30am so i fed in the hope shed go back to sleep which she did til 7.45am, much better than yesterday morning, S woke at 4 and 6 so up 5 times *yawn* me needs coffee!
-
Ellie- I'd be annoyed too, it is hard at that age but they need to learn that being rough is a no-no. Ash was 2.5 when Emily was born and we also had friends who had babies before she was 2, so we have always been teaching her she has to be gentle with babies and I always watched her around other babies.
-
You all talk too much  I can't keep up, my brain just doesn't retain that much information!
Ellie, yes I'd be peeved too! My two year old cousin isn't so much rough with L, but she is always sick and has a snotty nose and wants to kiss him and I try to politely take L away when I really think that her mum (my aunty) should not let her some near L. Every time they come over, one of us gets sick not long after :wall: I just wish they didn't come when she is sick - it's inconsiderate and annoying.
Det, not long til walking now!! Wow!
L is trying to get up and crawl now! It's so cute! He really struggles though and then collapses lol.
Okay, can't remember what else...umm brain not functioning lol...oh yeah, Ali, hope A is feeling better - definitely sounds like it may be teeth. L was feverish when he was teething too. Lilima hope you have a good time at your mum's bday and J enjoys his stay. Kaz great news on the weight gain.
Anyway, someone mentioned Angelina Ballerina?? I'm taking my sister there this afternoon! She's so excited. I'm not staying but I'm dropping her and her nana there to meet up with her cousin and aunty. Hope it's a magical evening!
Gotta run, L getting cranky! xox
-
Hi girls,
Olive - Think I spoke too soon! This morning DS put my finger in his mouth and there is his first tooth coming through!! Could explain the seriously out there sleep we've had in the past 2 weeks?
Pinny - Glad L went down for you! Hope you enjoy Angelina Ballerina! I have no idea who she is but I assume she appeals to little girls!
Ellie - I would have been annoyed at that too. 2 year olds are hard work at times but they need boundaries & consequences to be enforced and reinforced.
Holly - What's happening with the house??
OP - :o at going back to work! Hope it's not too stressful and they are ok about you being pg again (they don't have a choice but I hope you don't get any nasty/inappropriate comments).
Malyna - I am returning to work but not for a few months. I took 12 months off initially but am hoping to delay now until after Easter. After that I am running low on leave and we can't afford to go back to one wage :( I think you work from home with your writing anyway! You've been back at work for a while now ;)
Det - Wow on the teeth!! That's heaps in such a short period of time. Can't believe boof is nearly walking. DS has been knocking back a few day feeds lately as well and it also got me thinking about when he weans :(
Meg - That's so cute about J taking his nana to the movies. Bet he feels so grown up!! How is your sister this week? I hope things are improving for her.
Hey Shell! Good luck with your return to work too.
AFU - As mentioned DS seems to be cutting his first tooth atm. Only had two day sleeps today - 40mins each and both times in the car. He's struggling to go down in the evenings too so I think panadol will be our friend ;) Houseguest gone today :) He was quite restrained in his drinking and is a nice enough bloke but hard work socially to interact with (cause it's all about him!) so it's nice and relaxing to have the house to ourselves again.
-
crap day sleeps here today, lots pf crying from both of us, going to bed will be back int he morning!!
hoping for a good night!
kaz yay on teeth!
-
Kaz - hope the teething is easy for you both :)
Olive - crazy sleeps here too...I'm going to bed too!
Thanks for your feedback re yesterday ladies...my mum turned up today for a cuppa...turns out her and dad were really upset with nephews behaviour and sil's lack of management...good to know I'm not just full of raging hormones :)
Wishing everyone a great sleep...I soooo need it...number 2 kicked all night last night....need sleep...
-
Ellie - I'm glad your parents are on board too as I think the older child should definitely have been managed better. Regardless of their age, parents should be demonstrating to their older children how to be gentle with younger children. I'm even doing it with DD2 now with babies and with animals.
Kaz - yay on teeth and houseguest leaving!
Olive - how was your night?
AFU - we had a bad night the night before last, Miss J woke at 4am and refused to go back to sleep. She took 45min to settle last night but then slept through until 7am!! I think it's working and she is finally getting the message that there is no bb during the night at all! Once she has her bedtime feed the shop is shut until breakfast :D Plus she is now sleeping all night in her cot which is great!
-
things have gone backwards here :( im in tears right now, just took 60 mins to get M to sleep and she slept for 30 mins, she woek last night at 10pm so i fed then again at 4am, she was beside herself so i fed her
-
 Olive - it's hard! I think I may have been a bit tough but I need to get her sleeping before going back to work. I just held her and rocked her and comforted her - everything apart from feed her. I even gave her water from her sippy cup (she wasn't happy with that!)
-
Olive - is there someone that can come round and give you a break? It sounds like you need it. I hope you get some rest soon xxx
Nai - Sometimes you just ahve to be firm - hopefully she will understand that there is no boobs at night.
I have bee nback at work for about 5 months. I just work now and then, working three days a week for Jan, not sure what I wil lbe doing in Feb. Would love a career change, but not sure what. I really wish I had trained as a nurse, as I work loosly in the medical field in social work and case management. Just nurning would mean more flexible hours. The whole idea of studying again is very daunting though,
I am going to go and visit my sister soon. She is doing better than a few days ago, but still not brilliant.
does anyone find their bubs putting EVERYTHING they find on the floor in their mouth? J wasn't too bad at eating floor food, but E sticks everything in her mouth.
I am sure there was something else I wanted to say, but I can't remember.....
-
Sorry selfish post...just quickly, we got the house in Dingley, they accepted our offer!! Settlement in 90 days, so off to harvey norman to do some 1000 days interest free furniture shopping or the house will be empty! LOL
-
Woohoo!! Congratulations Holly!!
-
Jols- Massive  Have been thinking of you  Just remember as Det used to say "its a phase and you will both get through it". I know it must seem so hopeless right now, even my good sleeper has turned into a different child over the last few days and is waking through the night numerous times, but it cant last forever (well it better not anyway)
Holly- Big Congrats :hooray: That is fab news! Have fun shopping.
BBS to catch up properly and do some more personals and tell you what is going on in our world
:grouphug: to all
-
Thanks Nai and Ali!
Sorry had to cut the last post short, my cat was meowing so loudly that she woke L up and I rushed to get him back to sleep before it was too late!
Kaz, must be nice to have the house back to yourselves. See any teeth yet? How was he last night?
Olive, no advice just a big  It's so hard when you're sleep deprived and trying to gentle parent. Gee...how many times have I ended up in tears too :( I hope tonight is a better night.
Ellie, wow kicks already! I sooo miss that!
lilima, yep, L puts everything gross in his mouth. Yuck! I'd study if I were you. I find it daunting too with so many years ahead and juggling everything but just think of the long term!
Afu...re the house, we are keeping it quiet on fb as I know everyone will be asking how we managed to buy it and everything else and I don't want the comments. We are very lucky that dp's parents have financed it and enabled us to have our own space :)
Also, re work... :wall: Apparently under the conditions of mat leave, I have to resume the same hours as before. So I have to work 2 days a week, instead of dropping to 1 like I wanted. Every Monday and Saturday. Sighhh! On monday's it will be 9am-4pm and mum will watch L. She will bring him to me on my lunch breaks so I can feed him. I guess I'll just have to deal with it, and it does mean extra money :)
ANyway, off to Chaddy for a bit and then dinner with dad. Have a good night all xox
-
Hi...I try so hard to remember everything but my brain is useless!!!
Olive - I hope you get a break hun...hope you get some sleep soon!
Holly - Great news on the house...enjoy the shopping.
Lilima - Everything going in the mouth here too...I am sick of vacuming but it seems the only solution at the moment.
AFM - very exctied...have found someone the buy my Strider Dlx so I can afford to upgrade to the new strider plus which has two seats...I love my strider so much and didn't know what I was going to do and then I find they've finally bought out a model that has two seats...perfect...pity about the $$$ but will be worth it I'm sure!
A had her first day sleep in her cot yesterday and had another today...but that was it...arvo sleep in the pram...she had 4 sleeps yesterday and seemed to be off her solids...no idea what's going on now???
Does anyone else's bub's bottom teeth look like they are sitting in front of the top teeth? I'm worried A has a HUGE bottom jaw...I guess I need to wait until the top ones are all the way down? The worry never ends hey?
-
Hey all,
Ellie - I'm the same, I forget half the stuff that is said! TBH - not sure about teeth and jaw, haven't really looked with that in mind?? Good work on the sleeps in the cot - keep it up! Maybe more teeth coming?
Holly - wooohooo on the house! Well done!! Must have been meant to be :D Enjoy shopping! Bummer about work, but you're right, at least it will be extra money so you can pay off that mortgage faster! How great that your mum can bring L into you for feeding. Wish I could work something like that out except my work is in the city and we're about 45 mins from the city so not really going to happen.
Meg - I hear you on wanting some sort of change. I am really only going back to work for the money... I am so not excited by my job. I get a bit jealous of people who really like or love their job. How nice it must be! I attempted a bit of a change before DD was born, into graduate recruitment at my company, but they were worried the role wouldn't have been challenging enough and I was going to start mat leave right at the "critical important busy time" so it didn't really work out.
One of the mums in MG has just enrolled in nursing this year. If you are interested, you should look into it. Might be worth the hard yards.
Great to hear your sis is slowly improving. And yes, DD is always finding things to stick in her mouth! I vac every two or three days because I can't stand her shoving stuff in her mouth...
Olive - if it helps I feel like we are going backward too. DD has been waking early, I have been giving a quick feed and she would go back to sleep but now the time she wakes is getting earlier and earlier and its turning back into a night feed. Last night she was awake for an hour too... DH told me to "put it in a bottle" and he will get up for her but I said that is not the point, she shouldn't been feeding between 7pm and 7am. Sigh... I feel your pain... but not quite as intensely! You can do it...
Nai - so glad it seems to be working for you! And getting it done before going back to work is awesome. We seem to be going backwards, right before I need to start work too :( Not good.
Kaz - wooo, a tooth! Welcome to the world of teething :D Hope its not too bad for you hun...
BBL... need to help with after bath dressing, has become a saga!
-
Well that wasn't too bad tonight. Some nights she just won't stay still on the change table and when you're trying to do bottom cream, body cream, etc it all gets too much for poor DH!
No real update from us. Still plodding along. Back to work Monday, that's the big focus at the moment. They don't know I'm pg again - not looking forward to that conversation. Kaz you're right, they aren't allowed to do anything about it but they can still have a bad attitude about it.
Hi to everyone else, hope we are all doing well!
-
