I'm around, hating summer. Went in BIL pool today, took Emily in for her first pool experience and she loved it, had a ball.
Oh and we Finally have our first tooth coming thru, its half way one side thru, no wonder she has been off all week and horrible poos, poor thing has blister looking nappy rash from all the disgusting poo. And who says teething poo is a myth!
Ali- Yeah gets tricky with kids at this age, at home you have it set up but when you're elsewhere all you feel like you're doing is watching them closely. I hear you on the toys, I'm so thankful we have a toy room!
Nai- eww, the smell stays, we had fish once and I hadn't put it on for couple days after and the smell stuck round forever.
olive- sucks af is back, I see it as a nuisance now seeing as I'm having no more kids. Good lcuk with the non feeding overnight plan. How is Sophie now?
malyna- I laugh at men when they think they're on holidays, umm hate to break it to them but not really such a thing once kids are around! Df by the end of school holidays can't wait to get back to school.
I hope all you girls with sucky sleep get improvements, at least in here you can all talk about it.
Hi girls,
Nothing to say. just finished watching dinner for one. love that old film.
Nai and Ali - glad to hear ur both back, and eww on the kitchen bin/dw... I've lost count of the number of times i've done that (hehe).
Shell - yeah, my mum used to say the same thing about my father.. now I get it.. LOL
Hi all,
I too came back from hols early. E is quite sick. Spent 2 days vommiting and I mean CHUCKING. She only had one wet nappy in more than 12 hours, and was even chucking in her sleep. Now she has the runs, but is keeping food and drink down. I have been feeding her about 9 times a day at the moment. My poor boobies!!!
E too lives her straw cup.
Nai - that is yuk about the dishwasher. we did a similar thing. I had run the dishwasher though, but it went all rank as a cup had turned over and filled with water, that sat there for about 4 days.
Ok - better go. I am still unpacking as well. Exciting new year for me. At home by myself with the kids in bed....
Oh BTW - I had a laugh at your status on facebook Shell - St Kilda winning the premiership.. Told DH - he had a chuckle and said no way!
Tell your DH it definately won't be the kangaroos! Lol.
Poor E, hope it settles, so much gastro at the moment sounds like she had it badly. Think its worse when its babies.
Hey Shell - Is there a mega storm at your hosue atm? Just hit here. Hail and all. The dog is going nuts, So loud I can't even hear the TV. Poor DH is on night shift. Lets just hope he doesn't get a major emergency. I hate him driving the ambulance in this weather.
Jsut went and got a torch, and got ready for bed JIC the power goes out
loads of lightening here!!!! and rain!
F**K the Dog is worse than the kids. Honestly, she is sooking, and huffing, and waking them up more than the storm is. Sick of telling her to go back to her mat. I am ready to lock her in the garage!!
Poor dog, yeah storm here, I'm still hot tho and I feel like I should be cuddled under blankets!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!
This means our babies are one THIS year :o scary!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR :p:
Alex and I made it to 10.30.. DH watched the fireworks in Sydney on the TV, said they were the best ever.. I'm sure next year will be the best ever too!
HI girls,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I woke Ash up for he fireworks on tv at midnight and then she went straight back to sleep and so did I. She woke at 7am with a temp and then went back down at 9am and slept until 1:30pm!!!! Woke up witha raging temp but I have managed to get it down a bit. She is eating and drinking which is great. She has gone back down to sleep again.
DP is asleep because he worked until 9am. A massive 16hour shift!!!!! He then didnt get home until 10:30am as he caught public transport half the way and had to pick up his car.
I am just watching tv. Have so many jobs to do but cant be stuffed!!!
Happy New Year Everyone!
BIG night here...Anika slept in her own room for the first time...ok so she's a whole 4 metres from me and I can see her from my bed but HUGE for me lol...and she slept from 8.30pm till 6am with the neighbours partying until 4am...amazing!!!! And she has totally weaned herself...feeling a bit sad but probably for the best with number 2 on the way. 19 week scan on Wed - bub great - placenta low and anterior so that's my latest worry...along with 2 sick dogs...and the $1100 vet bill now sitting on my visa :(
Wishing you all a wonderful 2010. Exxx
Ellie- thats great about the scan. I had a low placentaas well but it moved up. Did you find out the sex? Hope your dogs get better soon. That is a massive vet bill!!! Well done to DD for sleeping in her room!! I actualyl find now that DD sleeps better if I am not in the room.
Lilima- I am finding my dogs a pain at the moment. I am sick of them always in DD's space when she has food. I put them outside and then they bark!! Arrrrh! I guess I will have to continue to nag them!
Happy New Year everybody!!!
Ali - Hope DD is feeling better soon! You deserve a rest mate, watch all the telly you like! The jobs will still be there when you get up again.
Ellie - Great news on the scan. Plenty of time for that placenta to move up. Also great news on DD sleeping all night in her own bed. It is hard when they first move out of your room but you'll get used to it and I also find that DS sleeps better/goes off to sleep when we're not around.
Lilima - hope E is making a quick recovery. Sounds horrible and a bit worrying.
Hey all,
Happy new year!!! Hope you all had a great night, whatever you were doing!
Mine was a mixed bag - had been invited to a wedding up at Mt Buller (Vic alps - 3hrs from home!) and had decided to leave DD with my parents for the night. Poor DD has been teething and the top tooth was bad - she was in so much pain! Might need an amber necklace...
Anyway was looking forward to a night off and getting some decent sleep, her sleeps have just gone haywire and she screams as soon as she's anywhere near horizontal near the cot. Bad mum, maybe, but was looking forward to some sleep. Then DH gets sick! Gastro! So he stays home last night, DD goes to my parents as planned as DH is too sick to look after her and I got up the mountain by myself for the wedding.
Wedding was awesome, great fun. DH felt better so DD came home and spent the night with Dad, mum partied on at the wedding!
Ah well! Can't win them all!
Stuffed today though as I was up and back in 24hrs, didn't get to bed til 1am and up at 7am... very tired.
This sounds mean but I'm glad others are struggling with sleep... makes me feel a bit better, like this will pass soon. She just screams and screams! Sigh!
She's had gastro too, we had a day of vomitting and I'm so glad we were at my in law's house when it hit because MIL was fantastic! I'd be like "Grandma - emergency!" and she'd come running to help. Gotta love her.
Have read everyone else's posts but need to eat my tea and then clean the floor and walls of the loo (the things a good wife does  ) and then crash I think!
Hugs to all!
happy new year !!!!
hey girls - all good here- boof is a champ- crawling everywhere and trying to walk as well- he cruising everywhere and taking a couple of steps every now and then on his own- lol too funny
we are baby proofing the place ASAP LOL
been flat out here with kids on hols!
They are all now in separate rooms- phew was a mammouth job but is done! Just now gotta sort out a few more things and they are set!!
boof is one year old in 5 weeks!!!! OMG!!!
take care girls and i am gonna try and catch up on some sleep!! if it is possible lol
hang in there girls!!
It is scary thinking bout their first birthdays, we just were discussinh what we were gonna do. Emilys falls on a sunday so thats handy we're going to have people over for BBQ probably, thats what we did for Ash's first. More for the parents anyways, we survived the first year!
Det- we baby proofing as we go along, its funny cause now Ash is 3 we relaxed with everything and now have to start again and remember what we need to move away, what new hazards have popped up. Gotta start remembering to leave the stair gate shut too again now she is climbing.
OP- so much gastro going around at the moment. Glad you enjoyed the wedding, you should've slept in tho, what were you doing up at 7am?! Should've taken your time, had a leisurely breakfast....
Ellie- we still have yet to move Emily out, I keep saying I'm going to and never do it! Did you find out the sex of bubs? Has your m/s settled now? It is sad when they wean themselves, won't be long before you're going again tho.
Ali- how is Ash this morn? Has her temp settled?
Malyna- I made it to 11. Fireworks on tv don't do much for me, I want the real thing. Other years I can see half of them from my balcony but this year didn't bother, esp with rain and storms we had.
Poor Emily was very upset last night, screamed for 45mins at bedtime cause the rest of her tooth coming thru, she was biting down on her hand, have her bonjella and bit nurofen and that helped.
Happy New Year everyone!
It's actually quite scary because this means I'm going back to work next month and I'm going to have to leave my baby!! I'd love the break (!!) but I'm seriously stressing over how L will cope and how my dad and stepmom will cope minding him. Okay so it's only one day a week...um well 5 hour day, so more like a half day lol...but I'm still really worried. He is so attached to me and cries when anyone else is holding him or when he sees me leaving the room he's in. What am I going to do!!?
To add to the stress, we've just started house hunting! It's really overwhelming and quite depressing at times. We know we can't afford to live in the area where we are now - we are currently living with my mum and we'd love to stay around here but that would mean a teeny tiny apartment for the budget we've got. So looks like we're moving out a bit further to a new and unknown area - scary! I must say, I enjoy house inspections though, it's fun! :)
Oh, did I mention how loud L is now?? He is like a noisy toddler now! Really likes to make his voice heard
I gtg, he's stirring  Back later! xox
Holly- that was our problem, so expensive around these areas, we had a nice deposit so could buy where we are but still we had to forfeight a big backyard to get this area otherwise move further down the highway. Good luck with it!
With L being clingy with you, whats he like when you're not around? Cause Emily is similar if I am in the room she has to be near or with me, cries if I leave but if I'm not around she is fine. Df says she is no prob all day when I'm not there but then as soon as she sees me again she is crying and wants me. Its like out of sight out of mind. I'm back Thurs to work!
M is the same, im there and it mum mummummummumumum.. you get the idea!!
where are you looking holly??
det M stood for few seconds todau :o
having a crap day today :(
I am being distracted from washing up right now but quickly...
Olive- Hope you arent too sad and hoping tomorrow is a better day.
I am peed of with DP today! No help at all, sat ont he couch all day watching crap, hardly spoken to me unless its to complain about something and then has told me he's on holidays! :WTF: So an I but aparently that doesnt count as I dont work full time! Whatever! I have a child! Grrrrr! They just dont get it sometimes.
BBS
Shell I just did a thread on our house hunting adventures lol. Yeah this area is just way over our price range, we are looking wayy down the highway - more like Chelsea and inland Aspendale Gardens maybe...we saw a beautiful house in Dingley Village but they are asking for a bit more than what we are willing to spend so hopefully they change their minds!
I am hardly away from L  So I really don't know what he'd be like without me. Fretting I'm sure. Another issue was expressing milk for when I'm at work. I'm thinking he can either go without for the 5 hours or if that's not appropriate then formula for one feed? :dunno: I just don't get much from expressing, certainly not enough for a feed so it would take too long to build up a supply!
Hmm dimemmas!
Edit...good luck returnign to work! How many days?
ali i had a barny wiht DH too about lack of help, hes off for 4 days and just doesnt get it, id just love dinner cooked etc.. i cracked it big time :( he then goes back for 3 days and is in canberra for 4days with a mate...ummmm id love 4 days off too but that aint going to happen soon, i dont even get one night off..... so grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr to men today!
holly my BIL and SIL are in seaford
Ali- men take a while to learn that being on holidays don't mean the same thing as pre children! Just go out and leave Ash with him. Df went out new years eve and then again last night so I thought stuff this I went out most of today and going out again tomor. He pee's me off when he thinks he can just do whatever he wants with no thoughts to me.
Holly- You could see how he goes, he may not even take formula but you could have it as a back up while you're not there. I do hear about babies waiting til you get home from work and have a booby feast then. House hunting can be so stressful, took us 6 months to get this place, that was after we lost 3 other auctions, finally got this thru private sale, much less stressful than auction. i don't really know much bout those other areas, I grew up over the other side of the westgate so all this side town is still newish to me.
Olive- come and vent to us bout your crap day, maybe have early night or curl up in bed with a good book, tomor is a new day.
Olive- just read yr new post, we should start a grrr at partners thread, did he catch on after you lost it at him or still being same old. We should all take off for a weekend spa retreat, see how the men cope without us!
shell i told DH i wanted to go shopping this arvo, so he goes out and does stuff in the garden, it wasnt safe for DD2 to go out with him so i had to stay home, wasnt happy
then if you crack it they throw it back in yr face and point out all this work they're doing outside to make the house nice. Leave early in the morn, go shopping and leave him a note with list jobs to do.
Grrr to the menfolk! My DP took the girls today - so that I could finish unpacking, tidy the house and vaccuum - too good of him! He is however now putting Miss J to sleep - we are trying to break her co-sleeping, feeding to sleep all night habit that she has developed. I can't settle her as she just pulls at my top and screams for bb so he has to do it - hehehe.
Holly - I have had Miss J is care for a couple of months one day a week and she has formula for the time she is there and takes it really well from her sippy cup. It hasn't impacted on her BF at all so she seems to consider it a completely different drink I think, like water. She is also very clingy and cries when I leave but she is fine once I'm gone. She also cries when I come back - like she has only just realised that i haven't been around.
nai google Dr Jay Gordan and check out his night weaning stuff  it works!!
Holly- Missed that post about CC. DD has a bottle of formula when I am at work. I couldnt express much and it got too setressful. It is great that shse takes both and it hasnt affected my supply for days that I am not working either. We also have the same thing with the seperation. I dont actually say good bye to DD as I sneak off at this stage and she is fine and then when she sees me when i get home she starts whinging but I am assured she is fine during the day which I believe as I have done alot of babysitting, nannying, childcare and most kids are like that. Like to make their parents feel guilty!!
ON BEHALF OF SHELL AND ME - For all of you that have boys, DO NOT let them play cricket or watch it!! Their future wives/partners will thank you for it later!!!!
Olive- I am just going to go out tomorrow. I have had it!
Nai- I am still catching up on everything from going away! Its never ending!
Do you know I was so bored today that I cleaned out my washing machine!!! I took it all apart and cleaned it out! Man it was disgusting! Cant believe I wash clothes in it! The inside was clean but when I took it apart, there was this disgusting stuff (I suppose grime??) underneath it! Eww!
pmsl Ali bout the cricket comment! I can see why we're spending so much time on the net!
DH isnt that into cricket, in this house its footy
PMSL Ali - you poor thing being a cricket widow  You must have been bored to clean out the washing machine! I had a washing disaster today when a red dress ran and ruined one of DP's shirts Oops
Olive - I'll do that and google it. I neeeeeed help!
nai its for co-sleeping feeding to sleep, ive adapted it to suit me as we dont do either but need to stop DD waking so much. and its gentle!!
Thanks Olive - I just had a read and it was what we did last night so it made me feel better that I'm doing the right thing.
Ah I should get around to googling that guy too. Last night was a bit ordinary. Fed at 6:30pm, 9:15pm, 1am, 3:15am. Woke at about 5am but got DP to resettle him. Woke again at 7am and fed then too and then he was up. I went to bed at 11pm but was woken every half hour until the 1am feed then woken 2 hourly after that :( So sick of feeling tired.
Ali - Too late for this house. DP likes cricket but he hates just sitting in front of the telly so he has it constantly on the radio in the background but he can do other stuff while listening (just gets distracted if there's a wicket  ) I am sure DS will be schooled in all the finer points of test and one day games as soon as he's old enough.
I was thinking about your comment on DD's toys and what to do for her birthday - you could always tell people she has enough toys for now but that you're starting an education fund and ask them to donate or deposit the money they would have spent on a toy. Even $10 or $20 from each friend/family member will add up and if it's in a long term high interest account for a few years it will grow. Just a thought. for you being so bored too!! I remember when you were pg and you cleaned underneath the washing machine
Nai - Hope that evil smell has left your dishwasher! It's the same in this house - DS won't settle for me at night, just wants to feed. DP has much more luck.
Shell/Olive - I had a :( day too re: not enough help from DP. He's great generally but he doesn't see kitchen mess or washing up AT ALL. I feel a bit like the kitchen maid slave at times cause he leaves stuff everywhere and can't even be arsed to pack the dishwasher at times. I can wash up 3 or 4 times a day easy and I hate it with passion. Anyway - think the message got through. Hope it lasts (it never does though).
OP - Good on you for going to the wedding. So glad you had fun. Hope DD is feeling better soon and that tooth comes through. I am so scared of teeth. We have enough sleep trouble here and DS doesn't even have any teeth yet and isn't even close!! All late on both sides of the family - my brother was about 12 months old before he got his first tooth so we're on track to do the same with DS.
Holly - Is there any way you can start to leave DS for short periods now to get him used to it? Come and go from the room he's in so he knows that when you disappear, you come back and then build up to leaving him for 30mins, an hour etc so that it's not such a shock to be left for 5 hours. That's just MHO anyway. Good luck with the house hunting!! It is a lot of fun, don't let it stress you out - the exact right house is out there waiting for you guys.
Shell - Back to work :o Yucko. But the money will be nice!
For those of you leaving home tomorrow, have fun shopping girls!! I got out alone today to do the grocercies  NOT!!! with every other resident of this town after NY day.
We've got a mate coming to stay for a few days tomorrow. He's a bit self centred and drinks an awful lot so it should be interesting (or perhaps not, just hard work?).
Olive, Seaford is getting too far out I think, well in DP's opinion anyway. He thinks Chelsea is too far, I'm trying to convince him to at least check out some houses there.
Shell, we'd prefer private sale too, auctions are so daunting.
Re L and formula...yeah I think I will have it as a backup but knowing him he will probably turn his nose up at it. He will just have a booby feast when I get home I guess. How long can he go at 12 months without a milk feed? I mean, how long is appropriate? He doesn't have a breastfeed in the morning when he wakes, as he's feeding on and off all night. I only usually give him a breastfeed before sleeps to get him to sleep, and sometimes in between if he's cranky or it's hot and I think he might be thirsty. So he usually has 3 breastfeeds a day to coincide with his sleeps. When I am at work he will miss the first breastfeed of the day (around 10-11am when he has his first day sleep). I will be home by 2pm so he will get milk then. So that's no milk until 2pm! Is that okay? I really hope he takes to formula as I'd like him to be having some form of milk in the morning...but what if he doesn't!?
Thanks for your experiences Nai and Ali, I'm glad it worked out for you guys. I hope L takes to it too! I might buy some tomorrow and test it out
I'm really nervous about going back. There's been a lot of staff movement and half the people I was working with aren't there anymore. I can't even remember how to use the computer system! I'm sure it'll all come back to me once I'm there...I hope. I'm actually meant to go back 2 days but I only want to do 1. I'm yet to ask the manager though (she's a new manager and I've never met her) so I hope she says it's okay. I guess I should call her on Monday, not leave it too late.
Kaz, thanks for your support!! Hope your guest behaves!
Gtg, this one hand typing is killing me!
crap night....blah... bbl after brekky
Olive- I saw on FB crtap night, kids?
Holly- maybe on the day you are working offer a BF before you go to work and just leave sippy cup formula for ion case in between. With Ash I went back to work when she was 10.5 months 2 days a week and she'd have 2 bottles formula in that time and then I'd just BF the rest of the time. Did take me a while to get her using a bottle tho so maybe go straight for sippy cup or straw cup?
Kaz- you might have to ban alcohol from the house! Is he a quiet drinker or gonna be loud and disturb everyone? Hope you frind success when you google that guy, seems like others are impressed with the plan.
