Hi ladies,
How are we all? Looking forward to Easter??
Olive - how was your night last night? Hope it was a bit better for you... Oh I admire you for your volunteer work too. What sort of volunteering tasks do you do??
Heaven - sounds like you guys are making some real progress with the weaning! Good work! And you never know, it just might get easier - she might prove you wrong! I'm finding its getting easier the more Isabel understands - sometimes I can say to her now "You're a tired girl, are you ready for a sleep?" and she will nod her head. Not all the time though!
GL with Mainly Music next term, I'll be interested to know how you enjoy it, as I said before I think we run it a bit differently to some...
Kaz - ooooo scary on the TTC discussions! You'll know when you are ready, physically and mentally! Sometimes I think "What on earth are we getting ourselves into, are we crazy??" but I know that we are ready for another bub. Not good about the feeding issues - see what an LC has to say, or try the ABA maybe. They might have some ideas! I know what you mean about feeding through pain - Isabel is quite gentle most of the time but my BBs are quite sensitive ATM so its difficult.
Pinny - thanks so much for the encouragement :D TBH it just seemed natural - she wanted to keep feeding so we kept going. It is getting tougher now though as the belly gets bigger and so does she! I might need to try a different position... Also from what I have read and been told by others, some time between 4 and 8mths pg I will start producing colostrum, then much like normal BF after you have a baby this will transition into mature milk when number 2 arrives. Apparently it can go either way as to whether DD will accept the colostrum and be happy to continue feeding or whether she will decide she doesn't like it and stop. But it does become all about the newborn for a while!
I don't know what she will do - my instinct says she'll keep feeding as she has shown no inclination of stopping to this point and there must have been some changes to the taste that she'd adjusted to already so :dunno:
Maylna/shell/Meg - how are those partners of yours - are they around a bit more? What about during Easter? Don't know how you girls do it...!
Hi to everyone else!!!
Not much to report here - looking forward to Easter and having DH around a bit more, he's been sick this week and incapacitated, so hoping we can get some stuff happening over Easter. Really need to start getting Isabel into the BIG BED!
-
Two things I forgot... there are a few Isabel updates... bad mother
We have a walker on our hands!!!! I know I posted it on FB, thanks for all your lovey comments, but thought I'd better update on here too!
She'd been taking a few steps between two things (furniture and me or DH, DH to me or vice versa) for I reckon the last two months but that was it. Then all of a sudden last Wednesday she started realising she could stand up and sit down unassisted and also that she could walk to things without us needing to coach or cheer her.
By Friday she was off! She's so much more confident now - still stumbles and loses her balance every now and then but there's no stopping her. She'll fall on her butt and have an attempt at crying (drama queen  ) so DH and I are trying to be very bright and "uppagirl!" about it so she doesn't get too afraid. Seems to be working!
The other thing is we are cutting our 8th tooth - #7 came thru Wednesday with no real dramas but #8 is bulging and very painful. Lots of drool, she sticks anything she can in her mouth and then cries (with real tears) when it touches her gum. She is still sleeping ok at night once she is asleep but she has gone all clingy, sooky and grizzly during the day, not the happy baby we know and love. How can one have come through and we didn't even really notice and now this one is causing us so much pain??? :dunno:
Day sleeps are rotten (40mins yest, followed by an hour, that was all) and settling to sleep at night time has gone back to nightmare-ish proportions involving screaming, tears, hiccups, lots of cuddles and rocking... this darn tooth cuts through soon and we get our cheery baby girl back...
-
Kaz - yah on the sleep.
OP- what a clever girl walking - they are so cute. I guess that you won't have to wait until your milk comes in, if you are already lactating when you give birth to #2? 40 minute day sleeps - that's short.
I read your posts, then my stupid mind just blanks them out. I think I have sleep deprivation induced altzimers.
AFU - Going around the MILs plaace tomorow so she can help me write my query letter to teh agents.
Anyone got any plans for easter??
-
Olive- I hope M is feeling better today!
Kaz- Do you leave the amber necklace on at night? I only put it on during the day, I'm scared she'll choke at night or something, but I don't think that's actually possible, lol. So I'm not sure if there's any point either, if I only have it on in the day, hmm...
OP- keep us updated on the BF, I like hearing about how you're going, I'm hoping to do the same as you so you are my inspiration! Thanks! Yay on the walking!!! But :( for the painful tooth!! Ouch! Hope it comes through soon for her. DD got another one through last night it seems so now she has 9!
Malyna- DH has a week off for easter and we're off to see family!! Should be good, what are you up to?
Another good nights sleep!! Went to bed at 8.30pm (she always goes to bed late, even though she's only having 1 sleep!), woke at 12pm and DH resettled, then woke at 4.30am and I fed her and she slept with us until 7am! That's a really good night for her and a long time to go without booby. She isn't putting up much of a fight, I can't believe it. So I'm hoping now she'll stop waking between bed and 4am and then eventually we'll just extend the 4am feed til later. And she always wakes up between 5.30am and 6am usually. Yesterday it was 7.30am and today 7am!! So she's sleeping better and for longer, awesome!! She's just gone down for her day sleep now.
Now we're going away for a week for Easter and it will probably mess everything up, LOL.
-
just a quick one as i should be supervising the kids outside (millie has two knocks to the head, one yesty one today, a grazed nose and a blood nose, both yesty)
sleep was good last night, she woke at 7.30 and needed to be resettled then slept til 5am, fed and then slept til 8am!
we only have around 60-75mins sleep a day somettimes more sometimes less!
-
Poor Millie! DD is in the wars too!! Has a bruise on her head today from a bump last night. People are going to start thinking I'm bashing her, LOL. But she's just crazy, throwing her head back, climbing on things, spilling water on the floor and walking in it and slipping over, ahhhh.
That's awesome sleep though!! I hope DD is headed that way. I can't believe now that I think waking up twice a night is heaven, LOL, what has my life become, and I want another one?? wtf.
-
Yay for the good night sleeps girls!!! And OP, your DD sounds the same as DS - we are having trouble getting him down for the night some nights and I am blaming teeth!
Olive - Yeah DS is lucky to sleep more than an hour now. If he's in CC he hardly sleeps at all!!
Heaven - your next bub could be a good sleeper though!
Malyna - GL with writing to the agent!
-
Just popping in to say hi!
Been working and busy.
Will try and get back and speak more next time
-
Hi Lilima
Kaz- We are the same here too, i find it hard to get him down some nigts and others he goes down perfectly, keep looking for more teeth but no signs.
Heaven- LOL at tinking twice a night is good, it is by my books too!!
Olive- We had two knocks the the head too, one trying to get out back door and the other when we were having a bath together and he jumped out of my arms and hit his head on the tap, felt bad....b yay on sleeps, Miss A wants to play with Miss S too, she keeps asking about her. Catch up soon?
OP- Good Luck with the cutting of teeth and a big woo hoo on the walking!!!!
AFU- Lewis has got the snots today, poor little man, he also stood by himself today quite a few time so very proud of himself and also had his fisrt hair cut yesterday!! We are goign back down to teh caravan for Easter anyone else going away???
-

-
Hi girls,
I have been reading over the last week but struggling to keep up with the thread
Hopefully now I am on holidays Ican catch up properly and contribute more.
We had the vaccinations last week - didnt have any temps or anything but sooooooo grizzly. Didnt want to be put down, didnt want to be held, then we cut our 3rd tooth (top one) and we have had the runny nose as well. Then on Sat night DD did a MASSIVE catch up on sleep.
Kaz- When do you start back at work or did you start this week? GL hun, it is an adjustment but soon becomes routine.
Hopefully catch up on everything soon :grouphug:
-
Hi Everyone! Sorry I have been MIA as it has just been so hectic here. DD1 has a sinus issue and ear infection. Miss J is doing well though and even took a couple of steps by herself!!!
I will try to catch up on everything over the break.....
-
crap night :( m was up from 1.45-4.15am :o zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz not happy, thinking she has a sinus infection again :(
bbl... were a cranky family here today
-
Olive- I think we were up the same time. In fact I came out here at 2am and turned on the computer on no one posted anything on BB between 2 and 2:40am! I have been snapping at DP all morning.
Nai- yay on some steps! Off to check out your videos no the technical difficulties have been sorted! ;)
-
ali i hope we both have better night tonight, though im taking M to the Dr's tomorrow as shes not right, screamed blue murder tonight :( was beside herself, though she went down ok (fed to sleep) so hoping she stays asleep, thinking i will have an early night tonight, DH has to work tomorrow :(
OP with the volunteer work, its a bit of everything, helping with kids, keeping them occupied with drawing, trauma dolls, tea and coffee for relatives, photocopying.. last sunday i looked after a dementai paitent, had to stop her climbing out of bed to escape
-
where did the great olivtastic go? Lol. Liked the name.
Olive- Hope M is ok, poor thing hasn't had a good run with illnesses, try that repeat too maybe. The volunteer work sounds good, it will be good for you too down the track if you decide to return to paid work to have on your resume. Maybe you should get into nursing.
Nai- yay on steps, I hope DD1 feels better soon.
Ali- Hope you have a better night too.
Pinny- where is your caravan? Were not going anywhere this weekend, I worked today and working next mon/ tues. Enjoy your weekend away.
Heaven- where are you away to for easter? Have fun. How is the night settling going?
I've had a busy week, went up to castlemaine tues morn, came home wed arvo (partner and child free, was nice) then worked thurs and today so very tired now.
I'm dissapointed too, they changed my sewing class to thursday nights and the only other night they offer is wednesday nights and they are the 2 bloody nights in the week I work!
-
shell think ill just go to the dr, but i tell you if its another infection i WANT a referal!
what did you go to castlemaine for??? awesome taht it was childfree!!
i havent had a childfree night since sophie was born :o 3.5 years! the first night i didnt have S was the night i had M
-
A good friend of mine moved up there couple years ago. I've decided every school holidays I'm going up there for a night.
-
fair enough!! sounds very fair to me
-
i took M to the Dr's this morning and she has anotehr sinus infection :( more ab's
-
 Jols. Poor little Millie. I saw your other thread. I would recommend seeing an ENT specialist as well. My sister had ongoing sinus infections from a baby through to her childhood. She constantly had them and they are painful. Mum and dad took her to a ENT speicalist and it turned out that some of the cartlidge in her nose was blocking the sinus passage. I think at age 11 she had the op to have some of the bone shaved off and has never had a sinus infection since. I hope it doesnt come to this but she has not had a sinus infection since!!
Shell- :hooray: for having some time to yourself
-
ali were going to eliminate dairy first and go see my osteo to make sure she is aligned right, then its off to the naturopath!
hope you have a better night tonight!
girls were up at 5.30 this morning, M got the egg hunting business :o i was a little shocked, they loved it though! hoping M sleeps better too now the ab's are working
-
I hope you get some answers Jols  That is so cute M got into the easter egg hunting.
Ash went down at 6:30 tonight :o i couldnt kee her up any longer. I really hope we have a good night too. The poor thing though has 3 teeth coming through as well as all the mucous on ehr chest and nose. :(
On a positive note, i am loving that she is becoming more interactive. She understands a lot mroe of what we say and does funny things to get our attention and she knows she is being funny! Her interactions with our dog Winston are just classic as well. He just adores her!!
Hope everyone has had a lovely Easter :grouphug:
-
arrhhh 6.30pm is the norm here!! she even had 2 hour sleep today! yippeee now why doesne she do taht everyday!!
do you have a vapouriser?? M has had hers on for the past 2 nights and has slept better. poor chook :(
M understands lots too at the moment, i tell her to go get a nappy for me and she does! very cute!
-
just talking to myself!!
sucks that everyone is away :( DH is sleeping in (totally not deserved if you ask me)
better night last night, M woke at 2.10am and i had to resettle twice, then i fed her at 5am and she slept til 7am
-
 Jols
shocking again... up at 1am wouldnt settle still at 2:30pm was in bed with me and finally crashed out after pulling my hair, whackng me in the head, head banging her own head. Not fun :( Woke at 5:50am. It was so light! She is asleep now though.
-
Shell - that sucks your sewing is on the nights you work :( but yay on child free nights with mates!!
Olive - You must be so over the sinus issues with M. She sounds like a clever girl tho!
Bella - Love your new avvy hun. for your crap sleep. DS was up every hour or two again last night as well so I feel your pain. Blaming teeth again here. We were having a good run before that too with at least a 7 hour stretch each night and one night he went 9 hours :o
-
Shell - That sux about your class.\
T oeveryone with sleep problems - just remember - one day you will be the one trying to push them out of bed!!!!!
E is such a character. She stacks blocks and thinks it is so funny to crash them down. She also has become quite domestic, and follows me around when I am sweeping with her broom - sweeping along behind me.
If J is on his bike, then she has to be on hers. If J has a drink then she has to have one. She also love lying in his bed at bedtime and having stories. They really do adore each other. She also thinks it's funny to jump on him, but then gets upset if he jumps on her!!
Back to work tomorrow, amd Wednesday, then off to the holiday house for the rest of the week. DH has a month off now. So hoping that he actially gets some stuff done, and not just go off playing golf elc.
I am actually quite down on myself at the moment. I am not even really sure what the matter is. I just think maybe my life has not turned out how I had hoped. Maybe I did the wrong thing at uni- and I a m in the wrong career. Maybe I had the kids too early/too late - I actually don't know - I just keep feeling that there should be more to my life than what I have.......
-
oh no ali :( does she still have a cold/snotty etc... if she does if be getting her checked for an ear infection or fluid on the ears, laying down for a period of time causes pressure onthe drum = pain. i hope tonight is better!
kaz how are you feeling about going back to work tomorrow??
i hope J goes back to some big blocks of sleep for you.
lilima my girls are the same M like to copy S but i find S wants to be like M more!
what do you mean you choose the wrong career?? what would you like to do?
can you get some time out whilst DH is on hols?? hopr your ok
AFM had trouble getting M down tonight, not sure why, hope the rest of the night goes well!
-
Olive- If tonight is bad I am going to take her as it is very out of character for her. She screams blue murder during nappy changes as well :o Have you only been given AB for M? I was wondering about decongestents like dimetapp?
Kaz- Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Let us know how yo go if you arent to tired when you get home. I hope J gives you a good night sleep. 9 hours would come in handy tonight! You might find that CC wears him out. Dont feel embarrassed to call the centre during the day as well. I called a few times the first few days of DD going just to see how she was and theywere really lovely about it.
Lilima- Oh that post was so gorgeous about your two babies. It made me smile! Its things like that, that make me want to have another child. Enjoy your holiday and hope Dh doesnt play too much golf! I hope the time away will help clear your mind about things. Feel free to vent to us all
-
yep shes only on ab's but when she had glue ear (fluid behind the drums) we had to give her dimetapp and panadol every night, i had to get a script as its for 2yrs+ but we had to halve the dose that was stated on the box and no it didnt make her drowsy (unfortunatly)
oh and a vapouriser is a must you can get them from chemist warehouse for $36
-
Olive- Poor Millie, glad you've got a plan in place, must be so hard seeing her unwell and so often, lets hope you get to the bottom of it
Bella- How's DD now?? Did u go to Dr's
lilima- How are yo today?? Hope you get sonme time to think about what it is your looking for in life, don't be too harsh on yourself, you are a fantastic mother and you have achieved alot in life already!!b Big Hugs hun!!
Shell- Our caravan is down near Wilson's Prom about 4 km before the entrance. It is located on a little inlet and is so peaceful, my mum and dad and cousins and aunty and uncle all have vans too so we get to spend heaps of time with the extended family which is fantastic!!! I love it... Pity about the sewing, I did a few class classes befoe I had Lewis mainly patchwork, what kind of stuff do u sew?
Kaz- L is teething too!! How are your night atm??
Well we came home tonight, after a busy weekend it was my first of driving down and back without DH, he just came over night on Sat. Lewis got two more teeth over the past two days!!! So has been a bit unsetted but not too bad considering we were in the van!! His sleeps aare getting much better down there, think the sea air helps heaps..L loved the sand and actually didn't eat it this time!! weell eater bunny went overbaoard at our house!!! Think mummy and daddy might have to help eat it when kids are in bed!!! I love easter eggs!!
-
Thanks for everyones' nice words.
Olive - the thing is that I don'[t know what I want to do - well I do, but it is just not possible right now. I really want to go back and do another overseas volunteer trip. I will look in to doing one as a family project, but it won't be for a few years. I jsut feel that lost - l am happy, but I just can' t shake thisfeeling that there should be more.
Pinny - sounds like you have had a good time.
-
Morning all,
Lilima - I can sort of understand what you mean. I hate my job (hence being on here so much when I am at work hehe) and sometimes feel like I'm in the wrong career. But I am so not in the right place in my life to change it - too many committments, too much reliance on my nice income... and for what I do, it is a good income. So it is difficult for me to change anything right now. So big hugs  I can sort of get where you are coming from.
Pinny - your van spot sounds lovely!! Glad you had a good time with the extended family. I love Easter eggs too but resent spending more for the same chocolate just because it is shaped like an egg or a rabbit! So I went to Coles yesterday and bought a whole lot when they were 50% off ;) Wooo!
Olive, you poor love, you are having a rough trot at the moment with sleep and sicknesses! Get your DH into gear - why can't he look after the girls while you catch up on some sleep??? How is M going, are the ABs helping?
BB - love the new avvy hun! Very nice! Sounds like you are doing it tought with sleep and illness as well. Hope Ash settles back down into your little darling again soon. Must be hard when she is so out of sorts. I know what you mean about the interactiveness too!
Kaz - how have your nights been recently? How did CC go? Let us know!
Shell - yay on kid/partner free time in Castlemaine! My great aunt and uncle used to live up there, lovely part of the world. Bummer about your sewing class - what are you going to do??
I'm sure there was more but I can't see any further back right now...
AFU: DD has a bit of a cold so sleep has been an issue for us too. Taking ages to go down at night again and we have resorted to letting her CIO a bit  I hate it, its not how I want to parent, but we are at wits end - she won't feed to sleep (never has), won't self-settle and if we try and cuddle/rock/pat, she seems to end up more awake than asleep. So we put her down, she cries for a few mins and most times goes to sleep. But I still hate it.
Mind you some nights she doesn't go to sleep and we do then have to go in and try and settle... but it takes forever and she just screams! Even when we hold her! Sigh. And then she wakes around midnight and sometimes needs a resettle and then she's awake most mornings from about 4am, she'll yell out or grizzle but I'm awake of course, most times she goes back to sleep off and on til about 6am and then its game over, she's awake and wants up.
Feel like I've got a newborn again...
Apart from the sleep issues she is a delight, most of the time. Like Ali she seems to know how to be cute and funny and she loves joining in on whatever we are doing. She's now got her own tooth brush and hairbrush so that when mummy is doing those things she can do it too. She also loves laughing with us - if we have a joke she joins in with a big "HA HA!" like she knows she should be laughing. So gorgeous.
-
Pinny great to see youback, hoping to see you on tuesday!!
so hoe many teeth does L have now??
im jealous you have a van down there!!
lilma  hope you get to do your trip!
OP we've had a few nights of screaming when going to bed, ive put it down to the sinus infection though. last night she went down fine which was good as DH wasnt home!!
this is such a fun age isnt it!! their little personalities really come out!!
Ali how is A today?? hope shes feeling better  we have nappy change issues too, but ive found if i get her to get the nappy and carry it etc.. shes better :dunno: im sure it wont last though!!
AFM all ok, M is getting better, shes now off dairy, not that she really liked it any way and obviously there was a reason! shes now on oat milk for cereal etc.. i cook with it too and she has some in a sippy cup which is a first also! off to the osteo tomorrow, then if need be a natropath in the coming weeks to see if we can sort out these infections!!
sleep is ok still, waking once usually, last night she woke at 10.30 i resettled then she woke at 4am so i fed her then she slept tl 7am, if she wakes after 4am then i feed, before hand i resettle!
hi to everyone else!!
-
man i run the risk of being committed if i continue to talk to myself
anyways...
i took M to the osteo today, she said it was no wonder she was having issues :( she guess the issues were mainly on the RHS which they are, in a nut shell she said there isnt any 'fluid' on that side of ther head so when she does get colds/fluid etc... it cant drain... so back again next week!
-
Olive- that is great that you are getting some answers from the osteo. Hopefully she can now do something to help Miss M.
DD is getting better, still on AB. Nse is running like a tap and she is pulling on me to get up so i better go.
-
Hi Everyone!
Pinny - good to see you back!
Olive - i hope the osteo can help sort out Millie. She has had a rough trot with all her infections.
Ali - I'm glad Ash is getting better.
AFU - Miss J has started taking a few steps by herself - last night she picked up her water bottle from the coffee table and carried it to me sitting on the couch. She will be off an running soon I think.
-
Olive- Glad your getting some answers!!! Have to fill me in more on the no fluid thing sounds interesting!!
Bella- Hope Ashlyn gets better quickly...love your blog, had a quick read before.
Nai- Thanks for the info on the balance bikes a while back, will look out for one at Aldi for DS.
We went to the Dr's trhis morning coz DS has had a cold since last thursday and I wanted to get his ears checked, gave me a script for AB's if needed over the weekend but not just yet, fingers crossed we don't have to use them...
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.. anyone got any special plans?
-
i just had the mirena IUD put in and omg ouch!
