Babies Born~February 16th-28th 2009 #6

Shell- the mums group is just really difficult to break into the cliques - its just like highschool all over again! I don't know what other groups are like, but the girls there just leave their babies on the ground and just spend the time chatting to each other not paying a lot of attn to their bubs - whereas I chat up all the babies (know the babies names and not the mums) and wave and carry on with the babies. Poor old Alex lays onthe floor and chats away to the baby next to him, but doesn't get any reaction.. maybe I'm the only one who gets on the floor next to their baby and chats away to them... but I have no idea what these mums groups are supposed to be like.. i've just got experience with community groups..I think sometimes I'm a bit too out there for the group...

AJP - the pram is great

Tarkine - the pram would want to be great after waiting so long for it!! I don't think you are weird - in Miss J's playgroup we all sit around on the floor and play and talk with the babies. We encourage their interaction with each other.

OP - Miss J was a bit cranky after her 4m vax but it was short lived.

Sorry for short post - am typing while holding squirmy baby which is a whole new challenge :lol:

No sleep again here. Farrrk I am tired and so cranky today. SHe hasnt even had her morning sleep.
BBL...even though I ahve no money I am going to the shops in hope that she will fall asleep!

Hi girls, just quickly...back soon for personals (ds is in my arms!)

I can't remember what I said in my last post, but the ent guy referred us to a skin specialist paed who we managed to see yesterday, albeit waited forever! He wasn't actually seeing private patients yesterday, just doing ward rounds, so when he got a chance he quickly saw us. He gave L a script for some medication that will hopefully shrink the haemangioma. It is a tablet dissolved in water, 4 mls twice a day!! :wall: That's a lot to take at once and it tastes revolting - bitter. I put it in a syringe and sneak a few drops at a time in his mouth while he's on the boob. I notice he stops sucking, eyes go wide as if he's thinking "hey, that tastes funny!" lol but it's the only way I can do it. AND in 10 days I have to increase the dosage to 7ml!! :doh:

:pray: pray that it works! Not sure if I mentioned, but in 2 weeks a nurse is coming over with some machinary that measures oxygen levels and breathing rate. She will explain how to use it and I have to record L for the night.

Df is home early today being end of term and taken Ash down park, woohoo, Emily asleep.

Had our mchn appt today, main prob is the creases in her legs don't meet up, apparantly thats how they check their hips so could be a prob there, we going to GP on monday to assess. And I'll get her 4 month needles while there also. Weight is 6.065 so around 50% and length 62cm.

Holly- Fingers crossed it works, so you can avoid surgery. Glad you found a sneaky way to get it in, I remember having to give Ash AB's at 5 months and she hated it had to squirt to back of her throat to force her to swallow.

Ali- Oh hun, I hope you get some sleep. Will your Dh be around this weekend help you out maybe go have nap or soemthing?

Tarkine- Yeah thats understandable, our mums group we chat but also interact with all the bubs, we used to sit in circle with the bubs in front of us, now they're all nearly 3 and we have to break up fights and that sort thing in between chats. Maybe try playgroup Australia website and find playgroups in your area.

AJP- Thanks for the advice, I'll have to try that out first that way if it works out may not have to do the whole going cold turkey thing. It does make sense in theory. I find she more wants the dummy if she is farty so could work on non windy periods!

Det- Those pics are so cute, ahh love at first sight, lol, can already hear the wedding bells!

Tarkine - Glad you like the pram! Would be horrible if it was not user friendly after waiting all this time. I don't think you sound too out there! We talk to each others babies in my mothers group. I was worried about everyone already knowing everyone as well but there only seem to be a few prior connections in my group. I guess the babies are what we all have in common at this stage. Your situation sounds like they already have heaps in common - that will be hard to break down, people tend not to put effort into developing new friendships when they already have friends that don't require any effort IYKWIM?
Shell - I might go and read your dummy thread. If DS doesn't have the dummy, he just puts his fingers in his mouth and slurps on them :rolleyes: Not sure I want him doing that either. Meant to say before that I'm glad you've got the feeding routine sorted out and that both you and Em seem happier as a result.
Holly - That's great you've got some treatment for L but it sounds tricky to administer! How long does he have to be on 7ml for?
Ali - :hug: so sorry you're having a rough time with sleep atm. It seems to be the age for it! Hope the window shopping this arv helps Ashlyn get some sleep!
Pinny - 480g a week is awesome!! Lewis sounds like he is doing well - yay for 6 hour blocks overnight. DS has stopped his 6 hour blocks, I'm hoping that it's just a phase!
OP - Have fun at the party tomorrow! Hopefully there will be enough going on to distract Isabel from feeling cranky. DS just rubbernecks everything when we're out and about and he forgets to crack it.

AFM - Bad news about my dog. The x-rays showed there is almost definintely another mass growing in and around her liver. Its not as clear as the last time so doesn't look operable. We've decided not to have her opened up to check because if it is in-operable, then the kindest thing would be to not let her wake up and have to go through surgery recovery on top of the tumour. There would be limits to how much more of her liver they could remove anyway. The plan is to feed her lots (which she'll love!) and make sure she still has a decent quality of life. They can't tell us how much longer she has because all these different things may or may not happen as a result of the tumour. Feeling really blah atm.

Oh Kaz thats awful news, its brought tears to my eyes. Big hugs your way and pass some onto your gorgeous dog. :(

Ali - I hope you got Ash to have some sleep. I just did the same and took DD1 to the park so Miss J could sleep in the pram.

I'm just going through all of Miss J's clothes now and getting rid of her 000s. She's getting too big for them so I am unpacking her 00's

Kaz- I am so sorry that you got bad news about your dag :hug: I think you are doing the right thing by not operating again. I am sure you and the fam will make the rest of her life wonderful an I am sure that having little J around and you not at work makes her life so much better :hug:
Nai- I was ready to give up this morning. Couldnt get her down for her morning or lunch sleep so walked around the shops. As soon as I put her in the baby bjorn she fell asleep. We hadn't even gotten out of the car park. She is in her cot now having her arvo nap so hoping we will get back on track for tonight. Hope J had a sleep in her pram as well. I did the clothes thing last night. How are you going to store them so they stay nice? I just have them in a plastic bag lined box but am not sure if that will be good enough. :dunno:
Tarkine- I think your expectations of a mums group is spot on. I dont blame you for wanting to get out of the group. I didnt stick with my original group. I am actually in a group where the babies are around 5-6months, but they dont mind and I dont either. The girls are much nicer.
Pinny- good weight gain. ALot of people comment about Ashlyn too but to tell you the truth I just say to them that it is good for if she gets a bit sick, she has some reserves. I havent had her weighed for about 4 weeks so must take her next week. I need to speak to the MCHN about a few things.
Holly- That is great that you got seen and have a solution that will hopefully help L. I hope he takes his medicine without to much trouble for you. :hug:
OP- I just had a friend go to Karitane. Supposed to be a 2 month wait and she got in on a cancellation. She said they have beenfantastic. Still has 1 more night. THey are very gentle and helpful. She's going to fill me in next week over coffee. Are you still on the wait list for sleep school? I am hoping I can just apply what she has learnt to DD.
Shell- Glad DP is home now for a couple of weeks. Was thinking with the dummy thing, maybe jsut start during the day sleeps as that way if it doesnt go so well you wont be sleep deprived. I hope it goes well. You are brave. Hope the doctors tip goes well and that it is nothing to worry about.

AFM- Well I have managed to go and have a relaxing bath and wash my hair this arvo! :D Feel really relaxed but my eyes are so tired. Did no housework today. No energy or motivation. Going to make sure I go to bed at 8:30 tonight and maybe watch Stepford Wives in bed and hopefully fall asleep JIC we have another night like last night. DP tries to help at night but TBH it just makes it worse as she ets so excited when she sees him!

Kaz- I'm sorry to hear about your dog.....It's so hard when you have to make decisions,sounds like you have made a good choice.

Ali- You have motivated me into having a bath!!! Just what I need....Will go a run one as soon as I've finished this post.

Holly-fingers crossd the medicine helps, LOL about him giving you funny looks, they are becoming so knowing at the moment.

Nai- I put on a 00 suit tonight and was thinking I might have to put it away, nearly onto 0:rolleyes: so sad my baby is getting so big, although i must admit it is a small 00.

Hi to everybody I missed.

We had a good day here, went out for a coffee with DH whilst DD was at kinder, did food shopping and then went to a Pilates class with bubs, was great although I'm going to be sore tomorrow.......they go for a big walk first and Lewis was due for a feed, he was ok until 3/4 of the way and decided no he was hungry NOW and started to scream... I then had to excuse myself from the group and run ahead to get back fast and feed him.... would have been a funny sight as my tracksuit pants are too big now and kept falling down on the way....I was so puffed when I got back...the things we do for our babies.Poor little soul was so worked up that he had red blotches all over his face and couldn't even feed at first he was so upset.

He is also now so close to rolling from his back to tummy now. He already rolls from tummy to back, so don't want him to grow up this quick....might have to invest in a straight jacket to stop the gross motor development LOL

He has also started blowing proper raspberries today and thinks it is really funny when Abbey and I blow them back.

were off as soon as DH and DD get back from swimming! millie is asleep, though thinks an early morning explosive poo is all the rage!

I'm more worried now bout Emily's hip and the uneven leg creases cause on closer looking I found her right leg is longer and those bony hip parts when I felt for them are symetrical across. I been googling up on it and hip dysplasia so now got myself all worked up. Have to wait til mon to see GP.

Plus we're getting even less sleep. Emily is all snuffly so the dummy has become even more a problem but can't take it while shes got a cold and don't want to take it if she ends up having hip probs and needs comfort!

Aw Shell sending you a big :hug: Easy for me to say but try not to stress hun. If she does have a leg or hip problem, one or two more days until you can confirm it won't make a huge difference to the treatment outcome I'm sure. She is so young, you must be so worried. Try to take care of yourself this weekend too hun. At least your DF is around the next couple of weeks to help you out. Come in here and vent all you need. Thinking of you and Em.

Nai, we've already got boxes of clothes stored away that no longer fit! I can't believe how fast they grow.

Tarkine, how many mum's/babies in the group? That's really unfortunate that they are like that.

Anyway, afm...I'm so sure that L is teething. I can see and feel bumps on the gums and it looks like he's getting his eye teeth first!
Had such a bad night last night. He was so upset and screamed, didn't want boob, nothing could console him :( I called nurse on call to see if he could take panadol while on his medication which they said was fine but when I looked at the panadol, it had it expired!! :wall: He eventually calmed down...but what an ordeal! He hasn't been like that in a while (well seems like a while, maybe a week or 2) so it coincides with starting his medication. I was told possible side effects include diarrohea (sp?), abdominal pain and sleeplessness (great!), but that they should calm down and get used to it in time. So maybe it is the medication??

The only way we can get some sleep is if he sleeps on me or right next to me, leaning on me, so either way I can't move. It is so annoying. He will not sleep on his own or let me put him down away from me. What's worse is that we both get so hot and sticky, he's a really hot baby. I'm terrified I'm going to accidently smother him or something in my sleep as well! Last night I woke up and he was lying next to me, far enough so we weren't touching, on top of the covers completely uncovered. His hands, face & ears were so cold and I can't even remember why he was lying there! I don't remember putting him there. I think I'm going delirious!

Also noticed he has what looks like nappy rash :( It's all red and patchy/spotty above his peepee (lol), but sort of low down on his belly where the nappy just reaches. How does this happen? I change him so often and put cream on him :(

Arrgghhh!!!! I'm so depressed and stressed :wall:

I WISH, no not at all trying to get back into shape and love doing the classes, I was never one for excercise classses prior to ch'n, but wish i did, now I have a taste for it I just love it....makes me feel to much better about myself, I think the endorphins help put my hormones back on track too..

Hi to everyone else....Another fairly good night for us, 5 hour block then 3hours..DH was a darling this morning and took Lewis and DD this morning so i could sleep in.....slept till 9.30am:D but have felt sleepy all day, as they say sleep promotes sleep!!!!

Shell - I know easier said than done but google is not your friend right now and it will probably just stress you out. Try to hold out until you see the Dr on Monday.

Most of the clothes we have are DD1's hand-me-downs so they have been stored just in plastic bags. Once Miss J finishes with them most of them are almost destroyed from her chucking on them anyway :( Grrr - she is crying AGAIN! She has just been so miserabel at night the last few nights and just cries and screams at bedtime, waking every 45min and not wanting to go back down. It's doing my head in - I am hoping it's just another tooth or a phase as it is not much fun :(

Nai - have you tried one of those amber necklaces? Det may be able to give you the link to where she purchased hers from.

Holly - I really do wish I was closer to give you a hand. My mum is not too far from you, she said that she would be more than happy to come over and give you and hour or two during the day so you can catch some sleep.

Shell - I know it is hard, but please try not to stress. I am hoping that all wil lbe fine xxx.

Pinny - I slept till 9am today and feel so good for it. DS is at my mums. E woke at 4:40, but I went and popped her dummy back in, and she slept till 6am. Gave her a quick feed, and then she woke at 9am ish! Woo hoo! and as I was not having to get up with DS I just slept till she got up. Got a feeling that tonight won't be as good. DH on night shift, and I have already been in twice and it is only 10pm!

The reason for Miss J's crankiness is revealed - tooth #2 is currently breaking through the gum! I would be cranky too, poor little poppet. Our mini woohoo was that DD1 wore undies to bed last night and woke up dry!! Yay :clap:

Hi to everybody else, sounds like we all had fairly busy weekends...My little man has a slight cough,not sure what it's all about no snot & hasn't been unwell, no temps just a cough every now and then....will get it checked out if I'm still concerned tomorrow.

there are about 10-15 people in the mums group.. they were already in their subgroups before I arrived.. bubs range in age from 3 weeks to 8.5mths.

still here lol- sorry for lack of personals but just wanted to update so you know that i havent fallen off the face of the earth lol

All going great here- my little man is still a cruzy little champ
he is eating heaps of solids - having brunch and dinner everyday now. Having the dinner has really cut out all the cluster feeding at nite. He really is loving the food and thriving on it! He has grown heaps in the past week!

DH took the twins to the footy today so boof and i went to greensy and i had a massage and a pedicure- it was ACE! Thought i would treat myself in anticipation of the school hols! Boof just sat up on my knee and fed whilst i had my feet done - little champ was charming all the girls working in the shop.

had a couple of nites off paper work, but the whip is back being used tommorow nite. Tax for 08 is done ,as well as 3 of the outstanding BAS- now gotta get 09 tax and the other 3 BAS done as well! Been busy also mediating between the folks- they ring me to see how each other is- is so sad- you can tell they miss each other's company so much, but there is no hope that they will get back together. Maybe they should just live together as friends instead of h/wife- but i can't see that happening for a while.
off to bed soon- gonna try and get there b4 midnite tonite! WHOOT

Hello everyone!! Gosh, I haven't posted in here for ages. It seems like everytime I start DD wakes up or wants me!!

We have been having a rough time with sleeping for a couple of weeks. DD hasn't been having her long sleep (which is only 4hrs anyway!) at night and has just been waking every 1-2 hrs!! omg. She's been fussy during the day too and whingy. She was pulling at her ears too and I was wondering if maybe it's teeth? But i have no idea, I can't see anything.

Then 3 nights ago we gave her some of the brauers teething relief at night just to see if that would make a difference and if it was actually teething and she only woke once!! And we got 3 good nights in a row!! But then I felt bad like maybe the stuff made her sleepy and if she's not actually teething I'm just like sedating her coz I want sleep, pmsl. I only gave her one dose anyway, haha. And the other 2 nights I didn't give her any and she slept good again but then last night she was up every hr :( I have no idea what her problem is but I'm over it!! It just feels like her sleep is getting worse not better!! :(

Anyone else having the same problems? I'm reading the no cry sleep solution atm so hopefully that will help.

Just a quckie. Went to GP today, we being sent for u/s tomor. Her hips on examination don't dislocate but the left one feels tighter and they definately uneven. So we'll see tomor what u/s says. I skipped vaccinations cause she still all snuffly so we still not getting much sleep either.

Det- Boof sounds like an eating machine, what foods do you give him or are you still on rice cereal???

Lewis does not seem any worse today but still has slight cough, it seems to be when he has reflux....just tried to make DR's app for tomorrow but they are fully booked both tomorrow and wed. Will have to ring in morning to see if there are any cancellations He doesn't cough often probably 6-8 times a day, I know I sound paranoid but he doesn;t normally sound like this when he coughs..

Heaven - :hug: That sounds quite crap mate. If it makes you feel any better, J's sleep has deteriorated at night over the past few weeks too (although not quite to hourly waking yet). I have heard that it's quite common at 4 months. How is the sleep book? I've got that on order now so hopefully it's good.
Pinny - Don't worry about sounding paranoid darl. DP just told me he heard on local radio news today that there's an outbreak of whooping cough in my town atm. Better to get L checked and be told it's nothing. J coughs a bit too at times.
Det - Sorry to hear about your parents. Hope it's not too draining on you being in the middle.

AFM - Not much to report. Night sleeps are still all over the place. He has been really grumbly this afternoon. We're gradually moving him over into his own cot :( I'm a bit sad about it but he's getting a bit too big for the basinette.

Kaz- They look so tiny in the cot don't they. I still have Em in bed next to me, just find is so much easier I'm dreading the cot for the simple reason I don't want to have to get up out of bed!

Pinny- Hopefully the cough is nothing, if its with the reflux maybe just irritating his throat?

Heaven- Those brauers stuff is all natural ingredients I think so don't feel bad bout using, my motto is whatever works. Hopefully you get some sleep, its just so hard when they are waking that often, you need that block of sleep.

Det- Ooh the pedicure/ manicure sounds great! Sad bout your parents, how many years were they together? It would be hard not having that person there after all the years.

Meg- How was work? Did they desperately need you? When are you going back permanantly? What movie did you see?

More bad news here, Df's nephew woke up this morn in bed full faeces and blood so he is in hospital having scopes done tonight to try and determine where the bleeding is occuring and why, poor boy is only 5, must be scary for him.

Shell- OMG about you nephew how scary, keep us posted, will be thinking of you & the family...I think your right about the reflux irritating his throat, I haven't offically been told he has reflux but my gut instinct is that he has suffered from it midly from the word go.

Kaz- What area R u from?? I'm sure it's not whooping cough but now I'm scared??? What r the other symptoms. Don't want to google it as I'm not up for horror stories tonight.....Lewis is his normal happy self and no other symptoms does not seem to cough at all when he sleeps, bubbly and alert like normal, poo's fine, feeds fine...even did a big boy laugh today was really cute!!!

a girl in my mothers group is going through what you are re emily's hips, same problem saw paed last week, off to ortho next month, may errr on the side of caution and cast her, shes 3 weeks older than millie, better safe than sorry as in best dealt with now than when shes older :hug: i'll let you know how she goes.

trip went ok, 3.5 hr trip turned into 5 hr trip on the way home due to stopping 3 times!! thats life travelling with 2 kids!! outlaws were ok! glad to be home just catching up on washing!!

kaz i had my iron tested last week, ive gone from 46 to 53 for ferretin levels and 6% to 8% for iron saturation. hows puppy today?

sara and everyone having issues with sleep :hug: i read in a baby horescope book that i have, that pisces babies love to sleep :o thinking they got that part wrong!! says they sleep through from the start :rofl: hahahahahah (for those interested, aquarius is jan 20-feb 18 pisces feb 19 to mach 20) sooooososoososo wrong!

Heaven- I think DD is teething too. We are eating fists here and anything else in reach and the drool is ridiculous. Her one-sie today was saturated all around the chest area!!!! :o I might have to get some Brauwers stuff you were talking about.

AFM- Well I did get into bed by 9pm the other night and had some decent sleep up until midnight, then my OTHER child came out for a feeding frenzy through the early hours!! I was zonked. DP took Ashlyn off my hands at 8am yesterday morning and gave me a bit of a sleep in (FINALLY) and I stayed in bed until 10am! We then went to this 20-20 cricket DP has been playing and Guy Sebastian was in his team as a fill in! Funny! Actually a good cricketer! Last night was a good night for us. Down at 6:30pm, fed at 12:30am then 5:30am then 8am! SO I got 2 and a half massive chunks of sleep! Felt so good today!

note to you all- big growth spurt at 5 months!!! Feeding frenzy all nite last nite. Boof slept, but woke every couple of hours for a feed!! Today he ate two bowlsful of rice cereal and for dinner a big bowl of h/made vegies and then h/made apple and mango! and then he had a feed straight after it! Was waiting for him to pop or chuck it back up as it was so much food, but no he didnt waste a drop and is sound zzz in bed!!! WHOOT!
He has grown soo much in the last week- he just sqeezing to his generous size 00 suits as they are now too short- and bonds he is in size 1!

Heaven- you cant go wrong with the brauers as they are natural. You might find that the drops took the edge off her teeth pain so that is why she slept so much better. Those damm teeth drive everyone crazy!! Teething is crazy!!!

Pinny - congrats on the platium membership. A little while ago they had a random act of kindness day and OP, Ali and myself were given a membership as a gift! It was an awesome surprise- me thinks that one of our Belly Buddies was responsible- hmmm anyone want to own up???????? Love having an avvy! cant wait to see yours!
I have been giving boof some of the Rafferty's garden range of sachets, so that i can see what food he likes etc. He likes everything so now we have started making some (actually DH makes it- he is a chef) He made some pumpkin, potato and sweet potato mash tonite and an apple and mango mush as well- he loved them. He has eaten rice cereal, wholegrain bannana porridge, apples, pear,mango, bannana, peas, spinach, sweetcorn, potato, punkin- no probs with any of them.

AJP- i am a pisces and you know how little sleep i get lol. Boof missed out on being a pisces and he is acqarian. We are wonderful people - us piscians! but hey i am not bias. I have a birth day sun sign book- should get it out and look up what it says about our babes! Glad your trip was good! Sounds like your iron is coming up- how far off normal is it now?

Shell- hope u/sound goes fine tommorow. Good to get on top of it when she is early and get some peace of mind as well. Thinking of you guys for tommorow. How your newphew is ok- that sounds really scary! Hugs hun.
My parents would have been together 41 years this year.

tarkaine- i can never remember what day of the week it is esp on school hols. lol. A funny story- when the twins were born was just around the time sudam hussain went into hiding- when he was finally found and the world was going crazy over the news- i didnt - as i didnt even know he was missing- oops somehow i missed that bit of important world affairs! Your brain will retun to somewhere near its normal self in the next 3-5 years lol !!

We are off to DR's this morning...NOt for Lewis but for DD, she was up have the night complaining of a sore ear, Has developed a real chesty cough too!!! I rang DR first thing and they can get me in due to a cancelllation Yey!!! Never had an ear infection B4....and she HATES DR's, really HATES them will be up for a fun day NOT....

Lewis seems really good, not one cough over night and woke at 1:30am and 5:30, what a good boy for mummy....

Will have to organise my Avatar, who do I contact again Jols???
