Hi again girls
Will try and get a quick post in before DD wakes... I hear her stirring...
Have tried to catch up a bit, haven't gone too far back though, will try and move forwards and keep up from here!
BIG HUGE HUGS for Ali with the sleeping - I have had real rough patches too, I know exactly how you feel. I felt like a robot for a while, it was a struggle just to get thru each day and I began to dread nights. You need to do whatever works for you - try some book theories, try what people suggest and work out what works for you and stick with it. Det is always telling us to listen to ourselves - we know what works best, but when she was telling me that I was so deliriously tired I was like "I don't know what I am telling myself!!!"
Just keep thinking - it will get better. Some way, some how, it will. Have you considered a sleep school?
HUGE HUGS to Holly as well, ditto the above, it will get better!! You are a champion mum.
Also big huge hugs in a comforting way for shell. I'm so sorry for the loss of your FIL but glad he is no longer in any pain.
Pinny I started DD on solids ages ago - she was ready and as a bigger bub it was recommended, so I thought why not, let's try it and see how she goes. She still has anywhere from 6-10 BFs a day so she hasn't started "dropping" any feeds yet, so we offer water sometimes and she will sort of lap at the sippy cup but doesn't really suck it. I figure she's getting all the fluids she needs from the BFs.
You should start DS when you think he's ready - or talk to your MCHN, see what they say!
Kaz - as above, DD is still on 6-10 feeds a day. We demand feed - sometimes she can go up to 5hrs between feeds but other days it'll be 2.5hrs! Who knows?
Ack she's crying, BBL to continue...
-
OP- I'm going to start DS on solids soon, he is nearly 6 months.
I meant should I have started with the water??
I had already satrted giving water at this stage with DD but it was over the summer months..
-
Pinny - DD1 was also a Feb baby and I didn't start giving her water until 8 or 9 months. She wouldn't drink it for ages either. I think she was about 10 months when she actually started drinking it properly - it was when the weather started getting warmer. She probably still got enough fluid from breastmilk and her food up until then anyway.
-
Back again...
Pinny, yep got what you mean now - we've offered water to DD but she doesn't really seem interested yet. Will keep offering it I guess! We started at around the same time, water and solids.
Nai - you sound like you're doing what we're trying to do, milk feed followed by solids a bit later. We're trying to encourage three meals a day too, but over the weekend she had a little cold and wasn't interested in eating much so we're back to trying for 3 regular meals from this week. Prior to that it was kind of when she wanted it...
Really glad to hear it is working well for Miss J and she is sleeping through at night! That is our aim with Isabel, I just can't handle the lack of sleep anymore!
RR - how long was your internet off for??? Was it four weeks? You poor thing :D
Meg - hope you are feeling a bit more rested today! How did the christening go? Isabel's is in two weeks, I have just done the invites, will post them tomorrow.
To answer your question, Isabel was very well behaved while I was gone, esp considering she was a little sick. DH picked her up at about 1am, he'd been at the bucks night, he resettled her when they got home and she slept til 7.30am :o
Why can't she punch out a 5.5hr sleep when I am here???
AJP - I know what you mean, I had a minor freak out today when I realised DD is almost six months old! It has gone so fast!!
AFM: Isabel is a champ with solids. She loves her farex in the morning (my sister says she is the only baby she knows who willingly eats farex, plain farex!) and then I give her vegies for lunch, vegies for dinner with some fruit for dessert. She's had pumpkin, sweet potato, carrot, swede, zucchini, broccoli, avocado and pear. So far so good! I just hope it starts to help her sleeping!
On the sleeping front, we have decided to try and eliminate the dummy and the wrapping - with mixed success. She went down for her morning sleep today at 8am with neither dummy nor wrap and didn't even grumble, just went to sleep. By the end of the day however she was ratty and we gave her the dummy. She has settled tonight without the dummy so we'll see how long she sleeps for now.
Hope everyone else is going well. I will be a better buddy and check in more often :D

BBL for a chat...
shell hun will be thinking you, matt and family tomorrow
-
Where would I be without you girls....I'll tell you..curled up in a ball in the corner of the room rocking! :grouphug: You have all been so supportive and I thank you all lots.
Shell- thanks for your PM about sleep school and the tips you learnt. I am keeping everything the same for every sleep and day time is okay but night time, just cant get over it! I hope all will be okay for you guys tomorrow.
Holly- I had the exact moment that you described yesterday  DD also does that stiffened back thing and when she does that, I cant even feed her to sleep as she has a few sucks and there obviously isnt enough as she is draining me constantly! I hope L improves for you soon. If he does let me know what you do! ;)
OP- So good to have you back. How on earth did you manage to pull off a weekend of partying? I havent been out since 11pm since DD was born!
RRaver- Welcome back! How are you and Bella doing? How is your new place?
Kaz- thankyou for all your support & advice. How funny as your dream about Shell! You made me laugh! Thanks for that :) You are so sweet to offer to come and help me. Love ya Kaz!
Nai- Thankyou to you aswell for your advice. I think I need to be a bit more strict with her and not offer the feed so quickly. Are you still doing WW? You are looking fantastic in your photos!!!
Rainy- To settle DD I lay her on hr side, I pat, I hold her firmly in her cot, she is wrapped, she has a dummy, I make sure she is warm enough, somestimes I even cuddle her while she is in her cot by putting my head next to hers and saying shhhh to her softly. She hates my singing :dunno why!
Pinny- I havet offered any water yet but sometimes DD sucks on the washer in the bath! Eww I know but she is obsessed!!! I ring it ou first and its not the one I actually wash her body with but she loves it on her gums.
Heaven- Have you decided about the solids yet?
Meg- My legs fel like that yesterday, a mix between tiredness and on my feet alot. Glad the christening went well though and hope you hada good pj day!
Jols- A big woojoo for Sophie at swimming as well
I cant remember what else. Brain is fried.
-
Aw thanks Ali - yes I am still on WW. I have lost 7.5kg so far (half way to my healthy weight goal) so I am feeling much better about things. I am still about 3.5kg off pre-pregnancy weight but I can wear normal clothes now. Woohoo!
-
:hello: girls.
can't hang around long, my laptop blew up and al and I have a cold and I feel terrible - Al seems to be okay with it, just has nasty cough.
BBL (when i get a new computer)

Hi everyone!
Another quick one from me...
Really busy/stressed at the moment. Assignments left right and centre + whingy, clingy, velcro baby who won't sleep!
Thanks for all your supportive words! Rainforest, I think I'll take you up on your offer - I will PM you! Thanks
Hope you're all well. Don't know when I'll get the time to post next - I am really behind at uni...how naive was I to think I could go back this semester :wall:

bleh crap day! pinny i nearly came to your house today as i was trying to get millie to sleep, she did eventually!
holly i think your amazing to be studying and mummy-ing!
-
Hopefully you have agood night then AJP.
I agree - Holly I don't know how you do it. I would really love to go back to study nursing, and I would get a fair few credits for study I have already done, I just don't feel smart enough any mre!!
Shell - How are you all?
-
Funeral was a nice service. Very draining day tho. The girls were well beahved thru it, Ash sensed something was up cause she just sat on my lap and cuddled up to me.
Talking about study, I've been saying I want to do something else, was originally wanting to go into midwifery, be only an extra year of study for me. But I'm also thinking would like to get out of nursing and maybe some sort of teaching at like an autism or special school.
The way I see it if we are gonna have to work til we're into our 60's going into study in my 30's is nothing.
Ali- Any improvement on the nights?
Holly- Good luck with it all, you're amazing doing it, I can barely think these days!
Meg- once baby brains wears off you'll do fine going back, like you said you should get exemptions already being in that sort of area.
OP- How is the eliminations going? If it gets tough maybe do one at a time?
Kaz-pmsl at that dream, nope not blonde, average height and not so thin anymore just pretty average I am! As for feeds Emily has 6 bottles a day, tin says 5 but she still wakes overnight for one. I'm hoping once she takes more solids it'll decrease.
Laura- How did you cope with no net!
-
AJP- sorry you had a crap day, should of come up...would love the company...
Miss DD has been driving me crazy, I'm just not as patient with her anymore!!!:redface:So wish i was, feel like a bad mum sometimes coz i just raise my voice, I never used to yell at her ever!! Now I do at least once a day...
We have a major explosion poos here lately, over everything!!! Arhhh not looking forward to the solid food poos added in there soon...
My baby boy is 6 months on Tuesday!!!! Where did the time go???
-

-
Shell- Glad the service went ok!! Must of been so hard.
Holly- I take my hat off to you, I've been thinking about studying too, but dont' think i will until L is in kinder or prep, although I may have to sooner than I think, I used to like studying, but I know it would all be a different ball game now... you should be so proud of yourself....
AJP- Don't be embrassed about being in tears, I so hear you!!! It's tough....See you tomorrow so looking forward to it... I love the hospital mum's group, you guys are wonderful , couldn't of asked for nicer people to share the room with..
