Here is Miss J eating her first food
YouTube - Juliette's first solids
Hi girls,
Ali, how do you freeze your milk? I've been meaning to start freezing some for emergencies or for when I'm time-poor, but not sure how to go about doing it! What is it kept in? And when defrosting, do you just stick it in the fridge? Sounds like Ash was definitely ready for solids! Well done :)
Shell, hope Em is feeling better. LOL at being asked for ID! I wash L with just water and a bit of almond oil, then moisturise him with Moogoo eczema/psoriosis cream or MSM if his skin is okay, and then I put the cortisone cream on his sore/red/bumpy patches.
Nai, glad J is taking to soilds well! Hope you have another good night tonight.
Tarkine  I have a velcro baby too! Will not tolerate being put down and when I do get some time to myself during the day, I am so tired! I still have wet clothes sitting in the basket waiting to be hung out...will do it later  Good news about your DH - well done to him!
Megie, hope you had a good time at lunch. Must have been nice to have a relaxing afternoon at the babyshower! Is this your sister's first baby?
Det, wow I can't believe how quickly boof is reaching his milestones! Words already! I could swear that L is trying to say mummy - it sounds more like mumum, but my mum and dp have mentioned it as well! He says it when he's whinging, so usually when he's tired or hungry. Hope your DH and boof recover soon and it doesn't spread to the others - the last thing you need. Glad the bbs are settling back to normal. What's megaoil? Might try some if it helps with the eczema.
Hi everyone else!
AFM, well I think I'm going to strangle DP. He is really really getting on my nerves. He has always been a real joker and is never serious but he takes it too far - I can never tell when he's joking or not, he will just outright lie or say things to confuse me just to be annoying and get me angry. I keep getting mad at him coz I can't even have a normal conversation with him and then he tells me that he does it because it's funny seeing me get angry and overreacting :wall: I get so frustrated and mad that I actually want to throw things at him  Sighh...oh well!
As for L...he's seems fine with just breast milk for now. Definitely in no hurry to start solids - I'm too lazy  His skin is bad and itchy, I feel so sorry for him. Especially his face, his eyelids even. My mum gets eczema on her eyelids and I think L might be getting it :(
Oops, dp just read my post and kind of got upset at what I said about him and told me to delete it! Don't know if he's serious or not  It's not like it's news to him.
Gotta go...got 2 sooky boys to tend to now and washing to hang out.
xox
Holly- Hopefully your DP after reading that realises he is being annoying and stop doing it! Whats that saying? Men can't live with them..... think thats the whole saying, lol. How is L with the meds going? Improvement? Is he taking them alright?
Nai- That video is sooo cute! Reminds me I need to get my camera back before I start Emily on solids.
Tarkine- Thats great he has work, woohoo, now you won't have to redraw on the mortgage.
Meg- I love baby showers and seeing all the gifts they get. And its an excuse for me to buy cute baby stuff.
Det- Oh god, movement! I couldn't wait for Ash to move now with Emily I want her to stay put cause all the little crap Ash leaves laying around I'm gonna have to watch carefully so Em doesn't swallow it or something.
Emily still on the cranky side and having short naps all day, I gotta get organised for Ash's 3rd birthday, not til sep but still gotta get planning.
My birthday next mon, now do you think its unreasonable of me to write Df my birthday expectations list, lol. I thought nothing would happen if I didn't suggest it so had things like a made card from Ash, a cake with a candle, a nice day out to the dandenong ranges, that sort of thing.
Nai - Love the video!! I love the food down the chin!!.. I can't believe how J is so into her solids.. Alex just looks at me like I'm a crazy idiot -but then girls are quicker than boys!!
Holly -  men hey?
AFm - well I got off my butt today and went for a walk down the street (dragging DH with me).. Told DH to take Alex this morning so I could have 2hrs sleep (gotta make the most of him while he's here) coz I was feeling like crap (stomach cramps, dizzy etc).. We decided that if my book gets published the 'dedication' at the front of the book would read "Thanks to my DH, if he wasn't for him, and his lack of help around the house, I'd have written this book five years ago"... yep think that's about right!! LOL
PMSL!!! :rofl::
We decided that if my book gets published the 'dedication' at the front of the book would read "Thanks to my DH, if he wasn't for him, and his lack of help around the house, I'd have written this book five years ago"... yep think that's about right!! LOL
You may have said before but what book are you writing? We'll be famous in here with all these books!
Emily has a cold again, thats why I think she's been not right of late. So annoying, its barely been 3 weeks since getting over last one!
I can't remember who mentioned the fake cough, but Miss E is doing it heaps at the moment.
Also tummy time has become non existant - as soon as you put her on her tum, she flips straight back.
Nai - I will have to check out your video
Holly - well at least he now know how you feel by reading the post. Poor little l with the eczema.
Shell - Nope not unreasonable at all!! I hope E's cold improves.
Tarkine - a very funny dedication!
J is in bed, and E is happily playing on the floor. Have been quite domestic this morning, and got the ironing done, floors cleaned and all the beds changed, so just got to do the grocery shopping, and the gym.
Holly - well he can't complain that he doesn't know how you feel :D I hope it makes him think twice before acting like that again!
Tarkine - LOL at the dedication! I hope you got a rest at least.
Meg - yay on the domestic front!
Shell - Grrr about colds! Miss J has another one now too! Hopefully it means their immune systems will be getting strong.
AFM - I have taken DD1 to ballet and then childcare, cooked up pear and sweet potato and pureed it and put it in little containers for Miss J and done the washing. I had forgotten the amount of preparation that solids requires. I wanted to go up to the shops but Miss J has just decided that today is the day she isn't going to wake up after 45min and has actually self settled back to sleep - amazing!
Hi girls, just finished reading from my last post and can hear Jacob waking up!!
Nai - Miss J looks so grown up!! We haven't even got a high chair yet!
BBL for more personals. He had a rough morning so I don't want to leave him too long. to all.
Hey girls
still here in the land of Manflu!! Now DS1 has it- it is soo pathetic- i just went and picked him up from school as he was 'sick'. He came home- devoured the rest of his lunch, had something else to eat and now is fluttering around the house in his undies- soo sick!! NOT! DH is still sooo 'sick as well.
all going good here although boof still doesn settle at nite till well after 1ish grr.
OMG Nai- j was soo ready for solids lol- when they are ready - they certainly are ready!!!
My lovely DH makes up the purees for me- but to mix it up we have been using the rafferty's. He loves the chicken and apriot one as well as the tuna, rice and vegie one!
My little machine downs a whole pouch of vegies and then a whole pouch of fruit in one sitting-- twice a day! The worse part is how much their poo stinks !!!
We also made a a concentrated mango puree and a concentrated blueberry puree. We just make a base of pear and apple and add the mango and blueberry puree for something different every now and then!
and we got a mama out of boof this morning !!! WHOOT!!!
and then straight back to dada dada dada dada !!!
back to my house of sickies!
Det -
Meg - woot on the domestic goddess work!
Nai - was looking at the video wondering when Alex would get into the food, and today he was into my GF's pumpkin soup!
Shell - the book happens over a period of a year and is a romance, coz I'm a hopeless romantic! TBH - I'm not holding my breath on publishing - its more of a keeping my brain occupied activity
Kaz - hope things improved for you.
on the subject of highchairs - do you girls have ones that the tray moves out? Would appreciate any thoughts on them. ta
AFM - went to the mums group this morning and saw a dental presentation. Lunch with a GF, who gave Alex some pumpkin soup on some bread and he LOVED it and got a strop on because we took it away from him. I gave him a little homemade custard this afternoon and he loved that too!!
Holly- I am storing EBM in bottles in the freezer. I have heaps of bottles so no shortage there. I only have a couple of bottles int he freezer at a time though. My DP can be like that sometimes too. Just the child in them sometimes. IKWYM about looking after 2 children though!
Nai- Thanks for the solids tips. I ahve no idea what I am doing really :dunno: Miss J is so cute eating her solids. I am starting to reconsider continuing DD on solids. Looking at that I am thinking maybe she isnt ready :dunno:
Det- That is so the way with kids at school. They act so sick at shool and get a new lease on life as soon as they get home. Sometimes I think it is a comfort thing that they want to go home. Boof sounds like he is going great guns with his food and all that talking! That is just amazing to me! Is that early to talk? There are babies in my mums group that are 6-7mth old that dont talk yet. I am always saying to DD MaMaMaMa, I never say Dadadada  I bet she will say dad first though, that or be quiet Winston and Max as I am always saying that! PMSL! :) How is OP??? Havent seen her in here in awhile...
Tarkine- Love the dedication!!! You should get published just for that! Classic! ANy useful info on the dental presentation?? Thats funny about the pumpkin soup!
Kaz- Sorry to hear you have had a rough morning. Hope you are okay.
Meg- DOnt you just love days like that when everything just happens and you feel so good about accomplishing those nitty gritty tasks! DOesnt ahppen very often for me but when it does I feel like super mum so well done!!!
Shell- I think you should def give him the list of recomendations for your birthday then he has absolutely no excuse to forget! Are you doing anything on the weekend to celebrate?
Jols- How are you? Has DH improved in the last day or is he still being a pain?
:hello: to everyone else.
AFM- As I said, I am starting to reconsider this solids business. Maybe she isnt ready...she seems interested but she puts it in her mouth, keeps it in there for awhile and then spits it out or plays with it making raspberries. I tried her with the apple and rice cereal today and I think she likes it but it doesnt seem to stay in the mouth so am thinking is there really much point doing it at the moment???
Ali - I got there a little late, but the gist of it is to clean their teeth with a flannel (or a toothbrush).. not to worry too much about toothpaste until 12mths, get bubs to drink from a cup at 6mths, and watch out for white markings at the top of the tooth - its the first sign of decay - go to the dentist then. The rest of it was to feed them healthy foods and to choose sweets that don't hang around in their mouths - so chocolate over a biscuit/minti sort of thing. It is the sugar and bacteria that get together to decay the teeth. Also drink water.
They also said you can get 'finger' brushes, like a thimble on your finger that you use ot brush their teeth.
Ali - from what I've heard on solids the playing with it is all part of getting used to it. Alex puts most of it on his face, and tastes a little of it, but he is so darn excited about it now - and it was only a week ago I tried to give him rice cereal (which he flat out refused!) Maybe give her a week and try it again. Totally get the raising two kids thing
tarkine we brush millies gums in the bath everynight which she loves and she loves chewing on the brush as well!! sophie had her first proper dental check up yesterday and did great!
love the book dedication!!
det arrhhhh love the 'im sick at school but good at home' trick!! hope the manflu leaves the house soon!!
ali does A still have tongue thrust? is she pushing the food out? i remember teaching sophie to say dada first so when she cried at night she called for him
holly i think you have to be very carefull with solids for L with the eczema as he might get worse  hope DP cuts the funny crap!!
shell oh no not another cold :( hope its just very mild for you all
kaz we have the ikea highchair!! best thing we bought, love it!!
meg you domestic godess you!! want to come clean my house ;)
nai thats a cute video of J eating!! we'll film M eating too when we start!!
pinny where are you hun??
ARM were all good! nothing much to report!! no solids im holding out til 6 months she is still satisfied with BM, M is such a delight, love my girls so much
Hello all!!!!!!! I have been away on holidays for ages so haven't been in!! What has been happening, any news????
My news is, in the last few days DDs 2 bottom teeth have come through!! Going to be so cute when they're fully out, lol. But man, the amount of poos she's doing a day, I think we're setting some kind of record!!
When we were away on holidays we got DD out of using the HAB which was good but now I still can't put her down so I don't really know what the point was :( I'm getting really over it and I don't know what to do. Just before I rocked her to sleep, put her down 20mins later when she was sound asleep. She didn't even move when I put her down. Then she woke up 4 mins later!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!! I really don't know what to do anymore. I can't be carrying her around for the rest of her life!!
How many day sleeps is everyone's bubba's having now? I think DD is starting to want to only have 2!!!!! Well 2 longer sleeps rather than 3-4 1hr ones like she used to. She's been sleeping for 2hrs at a time but will not go to sleep if I try squeeze another sleep in. And wanting to stay up for 2.5hrs and sometimes even more!! Crazy.
Well, that's all from me. Can't wait to hear what's been happening!
welcome back sara!! glad you had a great time away!!!
woohooo on teething!! as for the HAB and sleeping that must be hard  is she still sleeping in your arms then? id try when she wakes pick her up, sooth then put her back down when shes ok, then keep repeating, it will take some time but hopefully things will get better.
millie still has between 4-5 sleeps , sometimes 3 if she has 1-2 long ones, yesterday was 4x 40 mins, every day is different!
Hi girls!
I'll be quick, as I can hear L grizzling in his cot over the monitor. I put him down not long ago, awake, but tired, hoping he's self-settle - he's done it a few times recently! Only during the days though.
Det, how are DH and DS1? Any better? How's boof going with the crawling, or attempting to? Can't believe how much he loves to eat!
Wow, Heaven, 2 teeth at once! Poor thing, hope she's not too grizzly. She sounds a bit like L re being a velcro baby. I can hardly put him down for long, he always wants to be held! We mostly have to rock or feed to sleep to. No advice hun, or I'd be taking it myself! Just hope they grow out of it  I do what AJP suggested though, I try to keep persisting: put him in the cot, pick up and resettle on boob or rock him to sleep again, put him in cot again...and do it about 4-5 times before I give up!
AJP, yeah I am worried about starting solids and any allergies or reactions he might have. Also...I've been drinking a lot of slurpees lately  Do you think all the flavour and colour additives would be affecting him through my milk?? I've been hung up on slurpees since I was pregnant, no idea why, I just crave them! I would say I have them several times a week, sometimes one a day
Tarkine, wow, well done on writing a book! Is it just a hobby or do you/have you work(ed) as a writer? Sounds like Alex is loving his food!
Ali, thanks for the freezing tips. I'll have to start expressing every now and then to build a supply up in the freezer! Sounds like Ash is just getting used to the taste/texture of solids. If she's swallowing and enjoying it and not coughing or spluttering, sounds to me that she's ready! I am not looking forward to the change in L's poos when he starts!
Kaz, how are you going? Hope you had a decent night/morning
Nai, now you've really put me off starting solids - lots of preparation?!!! It's just so convenient to whip out the bbs! I think I have to make some time to get my head around it all and get familier with the starting foods we were given on a list at mothers group. I have no clue where/how to begin! I'd rather steer clear of pre-made foods in jars and packets, so I guess more work for me, but I have to be weary of L's ezcema and know EXACTLY what is going into him. How did J like the pear/sweet potato combo?
Megie, sounds like yesterday you did the amount of housework/chores that I'd do in a week  Has E mastered rolling from back to tummy? L has only rolled the once - tummy to back!
Shell, perfectly reasonable to make a birthday list! Men are so thoughtless at the best of times so he'd probably appreciate a little guidance! How is E going? Any better? L is still on the meds, he's getting so cheeky though - spitting it straight out and pursing his lips, trying to keep his mouth shut as soon as he sees the syringe! It's a bit of a battle, I need someone to help me do it - to hold him while I aim the syringe!
Hi to everyone else :hello:
AFM, can't remember if I mentioned that I started uni last week, so trying to fit study in every chance I get - that's my "me" time! Having a few family issues as well. My sister is in a psych unit after od'ing on her meds and other "stuff" & being hospitalised twice in the past 5 days. She has BPD (boderline personality disorder) if anyone's heard of it. She is going to court for sentencing next Thursday for some stupid things she's done. My mum is just exhausted and my 4 year old sister is bored out of her wits wanting mum's attention. Her partner (sister's dad), is having a very invasive operation next week and she's worried about that as well. I'm trying very hard to stay positive for my mum's sake!
Wow, L resettled himself, can't even remember when I heard him grizzling last! Didn't have to make this quick after all. Now try and study before he wakes. Anyway, love to you all - don't know if I will be able to post much in the next few days, but will endeavour to. Have a good day xox
Holly- Do you think your sister will serve jail time? I hope not, I hope the judge takes into account her situation and maybe keep her in psych hospital for awhile instead. Knowing how poor the public pysch system is tho who knows. My sister has PTSD and been in and out of hospitals, thankfully my mum got private health insurance years ago cause the public system used to boot her out after 2 days and she'd still be in a bad way, I know they're stretched for resources but wish the government would do something about it. So much going on with your family at the moment, hope you are coping ok.
What are you studying?
Heaven- Could you try rocking her til she is sleepy then put her down and pat her to try get her to fall asleep in teh cot?
As for day sleeps, here they're getting shorter, bout 30mins 3-4 times a day. I seem to get cat nappers. And she self settles to go to sleep so you'd think after one sleep cycle she could get herself thru another but no, fights it.
AJP- I need to take Ash for her first visit, bit nervous, thought I'd wait til mum can help me and book all of us in. She can watch us first then and see its not scary and I might bribe her with a toy if she is good, lol.
Ali- See how she goes with the solids, you can always stop and try again in a week or so, she still is quite young so there's no hurry, just play it by ear and follow her lead.
Tarkine- ooh I love romance! I don't get any tho unfortunately. A friend told me all those romantic movies and romantic comedies are bad for relationships cause sets up expectations. Good luck with the book. You never know it could get published.
Nai- Thats one reason I'm slow to start solids, all the preperation. I remember what a pain it was. I used to have cooking days and just cook up different veg and put into ice cubes so I had bags of varities that would last me a 2-3 weeks.
Tired today had a not so good night. Df has info night after school so he won't be home til 9pm. So just me all day long.
