LOL Heaven - that's happened to me a few times too :D
Ali - Ash sounds like she is doing really well.
Holly - I hope you all get some sleep
We are suffering sleep deprivation badly at the moment :( Miss J has been waking during the night and last night DD1 woke crying saying her wee wee hurt. We took her up to the Royal Childrens and spent a few hours there while we tried to get a urine sample. We did, they lost it and then there was a 5 hour wait (due to 4 resuscitations) so we went home. DP and DD1 then slept until lunch while I was up at 7.30. Arrrgh! It's never ending!
-
Seems to be dramas in here. Emily been not sleeping well cause that bloody rotavirus makes her poo constantly and he vagina is just red raw now and irritates her.
I spent all tues night vomiting non stop, went to ER in the end to get something, so finally got some sleep at 6am wed morn. Now Df has diarrhea and is moaning and groaning.
Nai- did you manage to get a new sample? Has she got a temp or anything too? Maybe water down bit cranberry juice to help with irritation. Hope you ended up getting a rest in sometime today.
AJP- Yeah the times Emily rolls onto her tummy she ends up sleeping longer and better, same as Ash did back when she was a bubba.
Kaz- How did the midwife appt go? Have you got an answers you were hoping to get?
Holly- it must be horrible feeling anxious so often. I don't have any advice as I've not been down that path but there is a depression and anxiety thread (under general health) maybe post something in there and others in similar situations may be able to give you some strategies to cope with it.
Meg- that toast idea sounds great, might do bit that with Em, even cruskits which she loves I should try, atm she has avacado on them, loves it.
We have mchn appt tomor for both the girls this time. Be nice to see how much they both weigh.
-
Ali- lol, Grace is the same, turning into a demanding little thing!!
Jols- I'm up to only wrapping DD from under the arms down now!! And she rolls onto her side or tummy and sleeps much better too.
Nai- :( hope G is feeling better!
shell- ooohh you reminded me, I'm going to get some cruskits for DD to try too.
Well DD is sleeping better in the day now, I rock her to sleep and then can actually put her down!!!!!!!!!! After only 5 mins too. So much better than carrying her around all day! And 3 times lately she's slept for 1.5hrs by herself!! She knows I'm putting her down but doesn't fight it anymore, just rolls over and gets comfy, lol. Nights are still ****house, lol, but improving a little! She is going straight back to sleep again with a feed instead of us having to spend ages getting her back to sleep and then her waking up as soon as we put her down. So I hope it continues to improve.
-
Shell - sounds like we have all been in the wars in this thread!! We managed to finally get a sample at 3pm yesterday so DP took it up to the Dr. Apparently we will only get a call if there is something wrong and we need to get her antibiotics.
I stopped wrapping Miss J a few weeks back and she just sleeps in her sleeping bag now with a blanket over her. Last night the girls were SO good! They both went to sleep at 7pm and both slept for over 12 hours straight! I got a good 9 hours so I am feeling almost human again - woohoo!!! Also I haven't been bitten on the nipple for 2 whole days :D
-
Nai- Sounds like a fantastic night!! Yay!!
Heaven- Glad things are slowly improving...hope it continues
Shell- Hope your better now, how did the MCHn app go?
AJP- How did millie go on her tummy? I'm just too paranoid to put L on his tummy to sleep, when DD used to roll her to her tummy in the middle of the night I would get up and roll her back, don't think I'll be as bad with DS, well hopefully anyway. Did u get your results from the u/s?
Ali- We are ginving toast too.. DS loves it.. How's your hubby?
Holly- How r u babe?? felling any better? Did you find a mattress?
Meg- what's the amber necklace? Sounds interesting.
Hi to everyone else!!!
AFM- well we are slowly getting there with the sleep thing, last night we went out for dinner and L and DD were amazingly good!! Even though they were both very tired..Got L in bed by 9.30 and he slept to 2am.. not waking once for a resettle.. he then went down till 6.15 am...bring on daylight savings I say.. both kids up with the birds atm...
Busy weekend DD with kids birthday parties and my newphew's 18th... will try to pop in to keep up
Have a good weekend everyone..I
-
Hi everyone
So much to catch up on.
Toast sounds like a great idea...will give it a go!
I'm really struggling with MS and feeling so guily for dumping A on the floor with her toys so I can lay on the lounge with my bucket. BF her yesterday and dry reaching into a spew bag at the same time...bless her...she just pulled off and watched and when I was done she sighed and got back on! Not alot of sympathy there lol! So I've given her her first bottle of formula and think we will be making the move...I threw up until 25 weeks with her and I can't see myself being able to feed and be that sick...scan on Monday so if all good that'll be the plan.
Have a great weekend everyone...wishing you all lots of sleep filled nights :)
-
Hi girlies,
Ali, glad that Ash is loving the vegemite! Then again, what kid doesn't?
AJP, how did Millie go on her tummy? Did you have a good night last night?
Nai, send some of that sleep this way please!! How is DD1 today?? Poor thing! Woohoo on J not having to be wrapped anymore!
Omg Shell, did I miss something? Why are you so sick?? And poor Em! Is she any better today? How did the mchn app go?
Heaven that's great news about the sleeps. Hope they continue to improve. Where is my sleepy baby!!
Pinny, sounds like you've got a busy weekend ahead - hope you get some rest. Hope L's sleeps keep getting better. I agree, bring on DLS!
Oh Ellie how awful! I hardly had MS with L, I can only imagine what it's like. Don't feel guilty - you are taking on so much atm!! How is Anika going? Good luck for the scan!
AFM, I am just hanging out for next month when uni is over!! 3 more assignments to do and the exam on the 30th. After that I have until Feb (when I start work 2 days p/w) to do nothing but be a sahm with no committments
L woofed down some roasted zuchini and pumpkin today. It was actually part of a quiche and mum picked the vegies out and fed them to him. She said she made sure there were no remnents of egg. Glad he's back to wanting solids!
Anyway, I better go as DP is getting impatient and his arms are sore...lol
Have a good weekend xox
-
Holly- I just every so often get vomity where I can't stop, no reasons for it just happens, better now tho. Yay on uni nearly over, you can see the light from here. So is this your final year? Do you do more next year with work?
Ellie- you poor thing, I hope the m/s doesn't last that long this time, yeah I can imagine it would be hard to feed and vomit, plus if you get bit dehydrated too won't be so great on your supply, guess see how you go and maybe if you need mix formula and breast thruout the day depending on how you're feeling.
Pinny- Yeah we got 2 kids partys this weekend, gonna keep them busy, I'm looking forward to dls but realised one of the parties is at 10am sun morn so with DLS starting sat night it will feel like 9am, might not make it in time!
Nai- Yay on great sleep! Lets hope it continues. Dr ring with any results on G?
Heaven- thats a great improvement, must feel so good now to see a difference after all the work you out in to changing things, stick with it and the nights will come, with Ash we worked mainly on day sleeps first then we worked on the nights and tackled cutting down the feeds etc.
MCHN appt was all good, Emily weighs 7.5kg now, 68cm long, its funny cause I look at Ash's book and they pretty much growing the same at weight and height at the same age.
Emily has taken to shouting again after nightfeed. Was awake from 2:50 til 4:35 last night then she rewoke at 5:20, not happy! I keep thinking she is 7 months now by this stage I think she'd be sleeping alot better not being so loud and awake in the middle of the night. Oh well not forever.
-
Hi - another queit day in here!
Shell - e has been unsettled since the vax too. She has done about 4 poos today and was crying in her sleep. She had hers on Friday. Are you better onw?
ellie - Oh dear, It must be hard being preg with a young bub. I found it hard enough and J was 2.
Nai - How are the girls going with the sleeps? Did you hear from the GP re G? I hope she is better.
THere are a few people we hacen't heard from for a while.
OP, Det, RainbowRaver, tarkine. Hmm who else.....
-
Meg & Shell - I jinxed myself! We had a cr@p night last night and J woke up at 4am and came into our bed. The hospital said they would only call if there was a problem with G's sample so given that we haven't heard anything I am assuming that she is ok.
-
:hello: :grouphug: not much to report here - bit grumpy with DH - my day for sleep in and I was up at 6.40 - guess it could be a sleep in from 5am -
Am feeling tired and a little worn (which is why I haven't been around here much), but it will pass, like everything.
Had spagetti bog for tea tonight - pureed it for Alex - he loved it. He has started occassionally doing a proper 'official' crawl.
Take care girls, enjoy the long weekend
-
Shell that sounds awful re throwing up for no reason  Was E any better with the sleeps last night? Glad she went well at the MCHN. No, this isn't my final year unfortunately :( lol I am doing uni part time and to become a qualified psych I need a lot more years!! I don't even want to count...
Malyna, glad Alex is going well on solids. Is it a long weekend?? Shows how much I pay attention to the date. I can't believe we are in October already. This time last year we were a couple weeks off finding out that L was a boy!
Megie, yeah it seems we've lost some buddies. They are probably very busy! How is J going? And how is E with her solids?
I need to confess something...I really don't know why, as it is so not practical and I've been having such a hard time with L and still am (!), but I really want to be pregnant again  I don't want to wait another 4 or 5 years until it's a more reasonable and sensible time!! And I really really don't want the age gap between them - I'm still pretty upset by that. I wanted all my babies no more than 2-3 years apart but I guess it's not possible for L. Definitely the next 2 babies (or 3!) though :) I also think because L was a suprise and we weren't TTC, I missed out on that excitement of TTC and getting the BFP and now I'm really longing for it! Am I crazy?? I love L to death, but I really want to WANT to conceive and have that excitement. lol I'm probably not making any sense.
Anyway, there are plenty of things I need to achieve first before even contemplating TTC  I need to be realistic here - someone please snap me out of it!
-
Hi everyone,
Holly- I have a confession as well. For the last 2 weeks I have thought I might be pregnant (and I was **** scared)! Even bought a test as well but couldnt bring myself to do it. Its not that I dont want another child, its just that personally right now we really couldnt afford to have one. :( SO many things were going through my head thinking that I was pregnant. Excitement as well but mainly what would DP think!! However AF decided to come last night much to my relief. Before I thought I was pregnant for real just recently, I was feeling exactly the way you are feeling now but when it became an almost reality to me I have realised I would like to wait a little while longer. I really do miss being pregnant though and that feeling of growing a little person inside of me. But I know my time is nto over yet. ;)
Heaven- :hooray: for all your hard work paying off!! SInce my issues (I should say DD's issues) with sleep things have bheen going great here. The last 2 weeks she has slept through 12 hours. Occasional wake up if we disturb her in the night but I am very happy. Looks liek she has finally got mine and Dp's flu though :( WHo knows what her sleep is going to be like now that she can hardly breathe!
Ellie- You poor thing. Hope the MS goes away soon.
Malyna- I read a great developmental thing to do at this age is cook up a stack of spaghetti and put it on their high chair tray and just let them play with it, mush it in their hands and eat it. Messy but I am going to give it a go. We have the dogs to clean up any floor mess. Hope you get some more energy
Nai- Hope tonight is better. Will send that stuff to you on Tuesday as its a public holiday up here on Monday so PO not open. Thanks for your addy :)
Pinny- DP is improving although the flu has been really bad for him as it has hurt his facial bones even more. We are off to the surgeon again this Thursday. The police are still in toucch with us trying to catch these morons so thats good although they are telling us it is going to be hard work.
Cant remember what else.
AFM- Have my little sis coming ot stay with me tongiht from Qld and then have DD's christening next weekend so so much to organise. Hoping my team Parra win this arvo in the NRL! Gotta go now, washing to hang out, washing up to do! Arrh it never ends!
-
Hi all!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so sorry for the big absence (a month, according to my You last visited thing at the top of the page). Things have been crazy - I was pulling a "Det" trying to get the last financial year done for our business - up til 2am like four nights in a row. Then Mum got pneumonia and was in hospital for two weeks and is still pretty sick. No good!
So getting on here hasn't been a real possibility!
So much to catch up on!!!
Ellie - WOW, congrats on the pg hun!!! That is awesome. I missed the announcement - so happy for you. Hope you m/s passes soon
Ali, Holly - I'm in the same boat, want to be pg. We're actually trying... so maybe I'll have some news soon. Det - if you read this, don't say anything at MG please :)
Ali - I take it something happened with DP? Hope he is ok now.
Ali, Holly, Shell, anyone else who is a Saints or Parra fan - condolences!
Shell - hope everyone in your house is getting better soon! Big hugs!
Meg/shell - which Vax are these? Have I missed some with Isabel? Worried now... better check my book...
I'm sure I've missed lots, I'm so sorry, I'll try and be a better buddy!
AFM - Isabel is not really sleeping any better, she still wakes overnight. I've stopped feeding her although I did last night as she was inconsolable and I didn't know what else to try! We're trying a new routine to see if it helps her sleep better. Too early to tell yet...
Not much else to report. Hope everyone else is going really well! :grouphug:
-
hey girls
hanging in here!
DS was sick with gastro frid, now DH got it and Boof has been off for a couple of days as well. And I can finally see the start of his first tooth starting to come through!!! OMG finally- he is 8 months old!!!!!! Twins had four teeth by his age lol
but then again boof is wearing clothes and shoes that DS1 wore when he was 18 months old! too funny!!
OP - GL!!! What goes on in BB, stays on BB - no stress there!! Hope your mum is getting better now- missed seeing you and ms!!! Hoping to be there on tues, but depends if boof is ok- he seems to have picked up heaps this arvo so think we are OK again- they bounce down as quick as they bounce up!! BTW i am thinking of going to ABA. Are you still going?? Finding it a bit harder to be around people that are supportive of feeding beyond now!! Will fill you in when i see you about the details.
Ali, holly- same here would love to be pg again but for me I dont think it will happen again. 3 kids is great and my plate is full- cant help but would love another one as i am soo enjoying boof- and his conception was a damm miracle in itself. So i find that i am resigning that it wont happen again, but then again not using any contraception, AF has visited once since having boof and that was six weeks ago!!! So i guess its up to the universe . . .
btw congrats holly on the pg!! WOW another miracle- hope the m/s settles down soon.
Nai- if its any consolation, it was full moon last nite. My kids dont sleep well the few days before a full moon and then they settle down again. They are all zzzz now phew!!!!
but for how long??????LOL
shell- whoot on the weight gain, we have our 8 month appointment on friday so will be interesting to see how much boof has put on!
Malyna- definately let him loose with the pasta. Boof ate shell pasta last nite - but not mashed- just as is. We dont mash anything for him anymore- just chuck everything on his tray and he sucks the crap out of it! LOL even without teeth!!
The other day he ate a tuna handroll- it was hilarious. Tonight we had fish and chips so i got him a piece of fish- took the batter off it and steamed some winter vegies for him. He ate a whole piece of fish- a machine lol! From this age until 12 months its all about them experimenting with food as its not their main source of nourishment, but i reckon that it comes close for boof some days lol
Heaven- so glad that things are going better for day sleeps for you!! WHoot
Hi to AJP, Kaz, Pinny mum , megiemoppit!!
Hey do you gals in vic wanna meet up again soon? sorta do a meet up before the silly season starts- WDYGT???
still not sleeping through here but its getting better only fed at 12am and 4ish last nite and then 7am- so that is a bit better!!
hugs and mwah!!
-
Its pretty funny cause I am total opposite to you girls who have pregnancy thoughts. I am so no way no more. Too exhausted now! Lol.
I'm def in for another Melb meet up, was great last time and would be so nice to see how much they have all grown.
Det- Hope the gastro bug has passed in your house. I noticed the full moon last night too and the girls were crazy! Drove me nuts today.
OP- Wow full on time you've had, is your mum improving? Does she live nearby so you can easily go see her? So how often is Isabel waking at night? Is it for long periods?
It was just the 6 month vax we got, bit late for us.
Ali- How you after your team lost? I was thinking of you. Df kept telling me off for cheering on Parra, altho have to say I found the whole game so boring! Afl is way better lol. Hope Ash doesn't get too sick. Have you got vapouriser or anything to help? Thats great she been sleeping 12 hours at night! Whats your secret?
Holly- You'll know when the time is right. Who knows maybe a couple years down the yrack you and your partner might feel in the right position to go for #2.
Tarkine- Hope you get some rest. exhaustion is so hard. Try get some down time.
Busy weekend Ash went to 2 birthday parties and has been misbehaving all day today. Emily been bit of a nutter to alot more crying than usual. I'm so tired today!
-
 Det I think you meant to congratulate Ellie, not me!! Now is a little *too* soon for me! Although, we are not using any contraception either...it's not like we dtd often anyway and when we do DP pulls out  But, you know, it's still pretty risky!
Can't believe Boof ate a whole piece of fish!! WOW! He certainly is a machine! Hope he's feeling better this morning.
OP, nice to hear from you! Sorry about your mum and I's sleeping. I am still feeding L several times a night. We co sleep so he is feeding on and off all night - I have my bb's whipped out the whole time and I'm too tired to try anything else! Works for us. I also still change his nappy once a night as he always wets through  I can't wait until the day when I can get a full night's sleep!! Good luck TTC! Fingers crossed for you guys!
Ali, wow a preg scare :o I haven't had af yet and am still round the clock bfing so I'm just hoping that is our contraception!! Like you, we simply cannot afford another bub. Sorry about your team's loss last night, I empathise with you! Is DD being christened Catholic? L's Dedication is on the 8th Nov as my family are Baptist and that's what we do, a bit different from a christening. DP's fam are Catholic though and he wants L christened too, but I'm a bit funny about him being dedicated/christened at 2 churches...:shakehead: (new smiley I just wanted to use lol) I said he can organise it if that's what he wants...that way it's unlikely to happen
Shell  must be hard with one being naughty and the other being whingy! Would make the decision not to try for #3 easier ;)
I'm also in for a meet up! Haven't met any of you yet! Who's in Melb here? Det, OP, Megie, Shell, Nai, Pinny, AJP, Rainforest...anyone else?? Ali, Kaz, Heaven...you girls have to get your butts down here!! Malyna and Ellie, where are you guys?
L is trying to rip my hair out...better get off here! xox
-
im here been slack with posting...
-
OP - great to hear from you. Good luck with the TTC. I hope you get a good nights sleep soon.
Det - great to hear from you too! I always chuckly when I check the time that you have posted. 10pm is an early night post for you!
Shell - I am with you. I just think no way to another bub. I feel complete with 2. Wehave always said 2, and it feels right.
Holly - how is the study going? Must be nearly done for the year.
Pinny - Amber teething necklaces are a necklace that you wear made out of amber. It is meant to stop the pain of teething. i can't remember where I got mine from, but Det has one on her little man, so she might be ableto tell you where to get one from if you are interested.
ellie - I hope the MS is easing.
I slpent the day with my sis and her 6 week old. gosh it makes me NOT want a newborn again. They are so needy. It is nice to have the lovely interactions now htat hte bubs are a bit older OK - I have to go now. Really tired tonight.
Oh yeah - and I an definitely up for a meet up. I know who else hasn't posted in ages - mhami. When we organise a catch up, we can let her know via facebook.
(Oh BTW - did everyone see my facebook status? J has taken to coming in to me in the morning and saying "Hello pretty mummy, did you ahve a nice sleep?!) What a charmer!
-
Hi girls, will post more tomorrow. Had an absolute **** weekend. DD is really sick and I am still sick and just everything seems to be going wrong. Want to crawl in a ball and cry
Catch up with you all this week :grouphug:
-
awwww ali  youve had a rough trot lately.
meg youve dissapeared off my FB need to readd you
-
Hey girls
Big hugs to Ali - hope everything is clearing up soon
Thanks to all for the good vibes with TTC. Went and got some acupuncture today to see if that helps - we'll see.
Thanks also for the well wishes about mum - she's had her central line taken out now and is onto oral ABs. At least she's not tied to a drip for 5hrs a day now!! Yay! She's just tired and washed out but much improved.
Am def up for a Melb meet up! Lunch somewhere?
Meg - I'm the opposite, I can't wait to have another newborn :D Having said that, am also loving the interactions with Isabel now, eg the way she holds out her arms to me when someone else is holding her or the way I can make her giggle just by kissing her. So cute! Oh and how adorable little Mr J is being for you!
Holly - fingers crossed L lets you have a full nights sleep some time in the next 18 years!!! :D
Shell - I checked my book and realised we don't have any more vax now until 12 months - how fast has the time flown?! Crazy. Isabel's not really awake for long periods, not unless we have done something to unsettle her like transferring from car to cot if we've been somewhere for dinner.
Det - missed you at MG on Tues, you are right, you and my house are not destined to meet :D Very interesting discussion about bringing sick babies. Wish everyone had been there - D was quite reasonable about it all, I don't know why we've all gotten so worked up about it.
As for the ABA - yep I'm still a member, shall I let you know about the next meeting? Sometimes K goes too, and my sister. We just missed a meeting actually - Monday. It was on "Breastfeeding through pregnancy" - maybe I should have gone ;)
AFM: Isabel has been sleeping better - I really think we are getting somewhere! Except she still uses the dummy to get to sleep and last night it fell out and needed replacing three times between midnight and 6am so that wasn't too good. Is anyone else still using a dummy? I so badly want to get rid of it! Worried we've left it too late!
Hi to Jols, Kaz, Heaven, Ellie, everyone else!!!
-
Hi girls,
Things are a little better. So this is the drama that unfolded on the weekend...
I ring DD's godfather to double check they are all still right for next Sunday (this Sunday now) and he goes no I thought it ws next month and then claims he never got the invite as well!! So stressful anyway we have someone else now to be DD's godfather.
DD has been so sick! Yesterday morning I rushed her to the doctors first thing as she had gunk coming out of her eyes, her nose was running like a tap and she could hardly breathe. She has an upper respiratory infection and is on anitbiotics.
I am still sick but getting better. Didnt take the antibiotics prescribed to me as the last itme I had antibiotics I got thrush for the first time and I just didnt want to deal with thateven though I took inner health plus at the same time.
Then our new LCD tv (6mths old) and dvd player stopped working. Still havent done anything about it as I dont have the time.
Then I got a call about my laptop from harvey norman and was told that it couldnt be fixed and they would replace it with a new one (yes that is good) but I lost all the stuff I hadnt backed up on the computer!!!!! (not good).
Anyway it just seemed to be one thing after the other!!
We are off to the hospital tomorrow for DP to see the surgeon again so I will let you know how that goes.
OP- DD still has a dummy. She cant go to sleep without it. When she turns one I am going to cut the ends of them (that what my mum did) and then hopefully she just wont like it anymore! (Well thats how I see it working anyway- I may be a little dillusional).
Catch up on everything else later :grouphug:
-
Ali  What a rough trot you're having. I can't believe Ash's original godfather! I seriously can't believe it. That's a privelige and he should have felt honoured to have that position. Why couldn't he make it this Sunday? What on earth could be so much more important?! His loss! Sorry about the TV and laptop...was it a lot you lost on the laptop? Hope it goes well at the hospital tomorrow.
OP, Isabel is sounding like a delight! L doesn't laugh much - he is such an old man lol (grumpy one that is!) Not sure about the dummy. We have JUST gotten L to take one! So instead of using my bbs as a dummy, now he can just have the real thing and I don't have to be tied down trying to settle him 24/7  He always drops it once he's asleep and so far doesn't seem to wake up wanting it. It's actually really cute, he keeps sucking while he's asleep but nothing is in his mouth so I always hear this smacking sound of his tongue sucking on nothing!
Megie, how cute of James!! Must be a nice wake up call :) Yes, uni is almost over for the year. Exam on the 30th and then that's it until March!! Woohoo! And, yeah I don't think I want another newborn after all! I just want to be pregnant  Today I held a 5 week old prem bub, not even 2kg (born less than 30 weeks and his due date isn't until the end of this month!) and omgoodness he was soooo cute and small and fragile. But I realised, I really don't miss that newborn stage...yet!
Anyway, hi to everyone else. Who's organising the meet? I'm in for whatever! xox
-
HI ladies
Convinced MS is going to kill me...Anika is being the best bubba...but she giggles when I chuck...better than crying i guess. My mind is totally gone and I can't remember anything...went to the loo, walked back in the lounge and freaked because Anika wasn'te where I left her...not...I had put her in her activity toy thingy...talk about preg brain...scared the absolute c out of me!!! So...what I was getting to...was I can't remember if I told you that I had my scan on Monday and bub is doing great...in the right spot with a strong heartbeat...phew! Now the reality of two under 15 months is starting to sink in...ahhhhhhh!!!!!!
Big hugs to all the sick mumma's and bubba's...wishing you all good health and great sleep :)
-
 Ali - I hope everything goes ok with DP tomorrow! I can't believe the godfather - his loss I say! I hope Ash is on the mend, poor little poppet. Send her big hugs from us.
Ellie - You poor thing with MS and preggo brain! I can't tell you that it improves after the second baby ;) I can't remember anything - I'm hopeless!
OP - I'm up for a meet up too!
Det - good to see you are hanging in there!
Holly - I also held the same little bubba today (sorry I couldn't stay until you got there but Miss J cracked it and had to go home to bed) and Miss J just seems soooo big!
Meg - I got your letter and have passed it on to the recipient. J sounds like he is being very sweet, do you think he has turned a corner?
AFU - Miss J has been nicknamed the 'giggle monster' by DP's family as all she does is laugh! She pretty much eats everything in sight (even if it isn't actually food!) and yesterday she went from sitting up to being on her tunny and pushing herself along the floor backwards.... hmmm... maybe she won't be staying put for as long as I had hoped.
-
ellie have you thought about getting accupunture fir the ms?? i had ms both times and it was hard with a toddler let alone a bubba!! you'll be fine!!!!
op id love another one too!! will think about it this time next year, i love the age gap i have with the girls and would have a similar one next time (if we even have another)
ali goodluck tomorrow with the surgeon
holly yay for l taking the dummy!!!!!
no dummy here for us, she rejected it at 4 months, shes unwrapped too now, just has a blankie which she rubs on her face, its very cute. were weaning off night feeds too she was waking twice a night lately then monday night DH resettled her then i fed at 4am, last night she woke once and i only gave her one side, so will see how the next few nights go
ETA miss J is very cute!! soounds like shes be crawling soon!
millie eats lots now too :o
-
Hi girls,
Ellie  with the morning sickness.
Ali - re the TV and the lappy - they should be able to get the info off the hard drive.
:grouphug: to everyone
AFU - Alex is officially crawling now - its pretty cute because he lifts his arms and legs up to move. he's also up on his knees. His teeth keep moving up and down but no sign of them coming through.
DH is away overnight tomorrow night. I hid inside today with the heater on - I'm so over winter!! Trying to get Alex to sleep on his own in his bed, getting him dozy on the boob then into the cot for sleeping - got him in for 1hr twice today (first time every), so will have to keep it up.
Finding things really difficult, to the point where I'm doubting there will ever be a number 2.

I am having heaps of computer problems tonight, o sorry for the sp errors as it is going really slow, and sorry if I miss anyone.
Ali - Obviously the person didn't really want to be the Godparent so much, as if he did, he would make sure that he was there. I hope everyone improves soon.
Holly- that is great that he will take the dummy. it will give you a bit more of a break.
AJP - You are brave to go back for three!
OP - I am glad that you are getting better sleeps. Lets hope it continues.
Nai - Yes J has somewhat improved, but he is still really not that good. Just better than he was. Great that you got the letter. Glad that you could pass it on for me. Thanks. I hope the reecipient is doing well.
Ellie - Argh MS sucks hey? Just glad A is chilled out so at least you don't have to be managing an unsettled baby at the say time.
E was so funny tonight. I was alternating a mouthful of veggies, with a mouthful of fruit. She howled every time I gave her the veggies, and then would cheer up for the fruit. I might tape it tomorrow night.
On a good note, she has fed herself roast chicken 2 days in a row. I sit J with her, and they eat together. She is always looking at what he is doing and seems to want to copy. I can see that she would love to be able to run around with him.
My sister with the 7 week old bub is not doing so well. Miss M has a severe Ecoli infecting as well as Staff. They think that she picked it up in hospital. So far she hasn't had to have her readmitted, but she has to see an ENT tomorrow as she has discharge coming from her ear. My sister is shattered as her CSect scar is still not healed and she is still on AB's and can't lift things or drive. Been going over as much as I can, but she lives an hour and a half away, and kids in tow can make it more of a hinderance rather than a help.
-
 meg that would be a sight!! hopefully E will like vegies on day!!
tarkine crawling is scary, A is so cute!!
ARM no feeds overnight last night yippee she woke at 12.30am, DH resettled and she slept til 7am!
-
Hi girls, I've been a slack buddy  Sorry.
 to all the sick mummies and babies in here. Some of you are having a really rough time right now :grouphug: I hope things improve soon.
J still up and down with sleeping. He is waking/feeding 4 hourly overnight atm. Day sleeps are crap and then he gets really tired. Lsat evening was rough. Been very whingy lately and cries so easily. He's woken now after only 40mins so we're in for another rough day. I don't care if he doesn't sleep much in the day but when he gets so tired for not sleeping it gets very frustrating.
-
How does everyone resettle overnight? I am having no luck. Last night I tried to resettle on and off for 3 hours! I ended up relenting and feeding her. She was sleeping through, but of late is waking again?
I pick her up, give her a cuddle till she calms down then put her back down. If I try just patting she gets hysterical.
-
meg - not the best one here.. I stick Alex on the boob and he goes to sleep - have just started putting him down before he goes completely to sleep, so he associates the bed with sleeping - but I'm still wrapping him
-
Meg - I'm still feeding when Miss J wakes too so I'm no help either! Now that they are in the same room I can't have her screaming and waking Genevieve so I just feed her and put her back down.
-
meg i send DH into resettle, im sure if i went in it wouldnt work, she knows were the milk comes from and DH cant provide what she wants!
-
Thanks girls. Thats what DP said abou tthe Godfather thing as well. As if he really wanted to be it then he would have found a way to get off work! Anywya am just glad we got someone else who actually does really want to be the Godfather.
Ash is slosly getting better and is sleeping better as well.
Megie- We dont wrap at all but she does have a dummy. For the last 3weeks she has slept through all but 3 nights. IF she has woken though I normally bring her in with me and feed her and she falls asleep. I jsut dont have the energy to fight it and it makes her happy so I jsut kind of live with it and it is working so I shouldnt complain.
Kaz- Is J teething??? Maybe that is why he wants the comfort of feeding and is waking often?
Jols- great work on last night with no feeding!!! You must feel good today.
Arrrhh Ash is crying now. BBL
-
Ali- Glad to hear she is on the mend, poor bubba! Have you been able to follow up your tv yet? Such dramas going on! How did DPs appt go? Are they happy with how he is healing?
Meg- I gave up with spending too long settling, now if she doesn't resettle within 5 mins or look like she is going to resettle I make a bottle. Sort of can tell now when she wakes if its gonna be a resettle wake or a feed wake. I found the nights I did spend ages resettling she would be fine for few nights then wake again after that.
Your poor sister, thats alot to be going thru right now, just having the bub not all that long ago, yeah 2 kids makes things tricky sometimes taking them places you don't always know how much help you're being! But I bet yr sister loves having you there.
Kaz- I wish I had advice, Ash was the same. Do you try resettle him or does he just get worked up if you do? How was the meeting with the midwife?
Tarkine- just take each day at a time, I spent first year of Ash's life convinced she'd be an only child! Sounds like progress on the sleep, yay!
Ellie- I feel for you, must be so hard being sick with a baby! Was hard enough with a toddler so can imagine would be worse!
OP- Get rid of it whenever you feel comfortable, whether that now or in years to come! We got rid of Ems at 4mths only because she was waking hourly looking for it, some days and nights tho I wish I still had it.
Emily slept til 6am last night woohoo. She not eating all that much tho. she has 4 bottles eats a great breakfast and few mouthfuls at dinner thats it. So annoying tho all my cooking gets thrown away, she used to love it when first started solids now I'm lucky if she has 5 mouthfuls of dinner.

Hey girls,
Just checking in, been lurking but never seem to get enough time to do a decent post!
Nai, aww I didn't know you were at the hossy yesterday! We were stuck in bloody traffic for ages. I'm sure we'll meet soon anyhow.
Megie, sorry about your sister. How awful  Hope Miss M recovers soon and the abs kick in for your sister's scar.
Shell & AJP, that's great news about the sleeps. Please send some sleepy vibes my way!
Kaz and Megie  sorry to hear about the sleep issues. And I can't help either! I feed L several times overnight and that's how he goes back to sleep. The only way to get him to sleep longer than half an hour during the day is to also give him booby when he stirs, but lately the dummy has been working (not so much today though :( ) I think he's cottoned on that it's not the real thing!
Having a bit of a dilemma with the solids... He just doesn't seem interested in the pureed/mashed up stuff anymore but will often munch on larger pieces of food. So I've tried giving him pieces of vegies but he just drops them on the floor or it's too slippery for him to hold  It's seriously doing my head in. Last night he had roasted sweet potato and could grip it fine with the skin on but I was paranoid he'd choke on the skin so I peeled it off but then it was too slipppery and mushy and just smooshed in his hands :wall:
I know it sounds so trivial, but am I doing something wrong here or should I just relax and let him smoosh the food and barely injest any of it?!
-
holly - smooshing food is all part of them learning about food....Alex is in the same boat - not liking pureed food.. he wants what I'm eating, so has had toast, saladas, vegies, celery (he gums it), carrots.. sometimes its a fishing trip into his mouth to get it out, but he seems quite happy to have a mouth full of soggy bread or salada. I watch him like a hawk, but he just sits there with it in there. I also give him whatever we are having, and just blend it, so there are no chokables in it.. I just watch Alex and go with his flow.. sometimes he eats a lot of solids and other days he's just testing the textures etc. I bought some rice cakes and tried him with those - he was smashing them up into little pieces
Ali - good to hear you have got a new godfather.
Shellbell - I really doubt I would be able to cope with two kids - PTSD and stress just don't mix.
-
Meg - Overnight I usually resettle by feeding J. Have tried a few times not to but it's not working great atm. We're not particularly consistent with it though so that doesn't help. During the day if J doesn't resettle on his own, then nothing I do helps and if I try he usually gets more and more worked up (screaming) so I've stopped trying and just get him up and hope he'll go back down before he gets too grumpy. Sorry. Not much help I know.
Ali - Yeah thought it might have been teeth early in the week but the past few days I'm not sure it is anymore. I think it's just him. :( Hope all goes well with the surgeon - have been thinking of you guys heaps this week and have been meaning to message you but never get enough time with J so grotty. Glad to hear Ash is on the mend. I know I should remember  but what did you do to cut down on her nighttime waking? I know you had a rough trot but seems like it would be worth it to have her sleeping through so much now.
Shell - m/w appt went ok. She seemed more worried about me than J though! Kept saying he looked great which I took to mean that I wasn't looking so hot :) She advised me to cut out the 2am feed and replace with resettling but it's not working and I have mixed feelings about stopping any of the overnight feeds this early - we're doing BLS so he's not eating a huge amount yet. Sounds like Em is the same?
AJP - What does your DH do to resettle M overnight?
Holly - I agree with Malyna darl. J did the same thing to start with but he is better and better at picking up slippery stuff and getting it to his mouth. Now he only drops it when he gets distracted (which is still often) Just have more on hand than you think he'll eat and keep replacing it. He'll get there. It's a good sign that he wants to feed himself imo, he's developing his fine motor skills and at least this way you won't have trouble getting him off mush when he's 12 months old ;)
Malyna - Saw your pics on fb. Great to have a face to the name!
AFM - Rough day yesterday and early waking this morning so that makes a week of crap sleep and increased crying. Took him out twice yesterday for walks in the pram to settle him. Don't know what else to do anymore. As I said above, anything I try during the day just gets him more and more worked up and overnight is pretty much the same except I'll usually feed him. Keep thinking that it's not really that bad, it's just that I'm taking a negative view on it. Been really teary the past few days. Got my parents coming to stay this weekend. Be great to see them but I'm dreading it too cause mum will have lots of well meant advice about how we need to be more consisent etc and I'm just not up to hearing it right now.
Hope you all have great weekends. Freezing here lately - snowing somewhere and there was sago snow here on Wednesday. I want the sun!!!!
