Hi everyone
Just popping on to let you know I had my scan today and all is GREAT! Bub was very active and uncooperative lol...so we got to have a long look! A was great, sat on DH's knee and watched and chatted to us all ...was quite bizarre...felt like it was only yesterday we were in the same room looking at her on the screen...anyway totally stuffed after 3 hour round trip with scan and shopping inbetween...and a few good chucks on the way home...be back tomorrow to catch up on everyone's news Ex
-
Great news Ellie!! (the scan not the chucking).
Det - thanks darl. It is something I've been wondering about, is the lack of me time something I'll get used to (like not enough sleep and broken when I get it) or is it something that will gradually wear me down until I go totally postal one day  Just kidding, I'm starting to put some stuff in place now to make sure I have a little more time just to myself each week.
So hot here today. J's sleep was going great guns for a few days there but not it's turned south again and I really think it's the heat. He's so not used to just having a sheet over him, kicks around heaps but with a blanket on he doesn't move position at all when sleeping :o He's not very mobile my J!!!
Better go, can hear him stirring and I want to get up main street in all it's glory to run some errands. My sister is coming up this weekend and she's going to come swimming with us on Monday so I'm really looking forward to that. Hope everyone else and their bubs are well.
-
Hi ladies
Thought I'd pop in and post before I crash... so tired at the moment, takes too much effort to do anything!
Kaz - we're having sleep issues with the heat as well. Poor Isabel wakes up all hot and sweaty, her hair all wet! No good. Just when you think you're starting to make headway, something changes and it all goes pearshaped again!
I'll check your other thread...
Ellie - great news on your scan - fantastic! Good that A was well behaved too :D
Det - hi, missed you at dinner on Wed, it was only 5 of us. You could have bought Boof!
Holly - I have images in my head of L rolling all over the floor... sounds pretty cute!
Olive - hope Millie's ear is clearing up! Poor thing. We still don't have teeth either!
Hi to everyone else!!!
Going to log off and watch some crap TV now... I have discovered a new series of Survivor on the Go channel so I'm tuning into that now...
Have a great weekend everyone! Stay cool!
-
Ocean- I hear you on waking in the heat, it seems to take me so long to settle L into bed at night.
Ellie- Glad the scan went well, always a lovely time watching your little bubba on the screen, any thoughts on what you think your having?
Kaz-Don't stress about the MCHN, I honestly wouldn't worry, Go with ur mother instinct.. have fun with your sister
Olive- How is miss M?? improving I hope.
Det- I hope L's sleep improves...must be hard when you get little sleep as it is.
Shell=- Where did u get your hip sling from...would love to see some pics of it.. I'm still tossing up wether to get an ergo, just not sure I would get the use of it.
AFM- Lewis is on the move and I'm not ready, constantly getting into things, loves cords and anything that has tags on it.. my Dad was playing the guitar to him yesterday and placed it on the floor across the other side of the room and L moved so quickly to get it i was in shock!!
-
Hi all - just popping in quickly to say hi! I am around, but just haven;t had time to post.
Hope everyoe is going well.
I am finding Miss e in all sorts of spots in her cot. Her fave is to be crunched right up the end sideways. Still not crawling, but she is so fast in rolling to get to things, that's what she seems to do most.
OK off to bed
night night
-
thought i should come in a say hello....so HELLO
millie is much better, we've had a rough week with her sleep wise, day sleeps have involved loads of screaming (from both of us  crying and frustration, all since getting sick. i had to feed her to sleep a few times as well, anything to get her to have a sleep! lots of sitting up in the cot, now that drove me bonkers!!
she has also in the past week, gone from 4 sleeps to two :o shock horror i tell you :o we actually last longer than 90 mins up! so far she has around 60-90 mins each time, im hoping to work on them a little and see if we can get some consistancy with them oh and a little longer, the up side of two sleeps is that she has been sleeping through :o except thurs night when she woke at 4am she has gone from 6.30pm-7am ish, so hoping that continues as well!
miss ive turned 3 with attitude is good too, though im sure shes actually turned 13!
were off to the Myer christmas windows bright and early tomorrow, planning on going when the girls wake, so hopefully gone by 7.30am, to beat the crowds!
DH has had 2 weeks off and is back monday, been nice having him home! we went to the zoo on thursday, S loved it!!
M is sort of on the move, slowly getting there and as gorgeous as ever!!!! still no teeth!
pinny i cant wait to see L crawl!!
ellie glad teh scan went well, bring on the 20 week one!!
OP when is your first scan??
kaz how about a sleeping bag?? i use summer ones here!
det 20 mins would do my head in!!
shell hows the sling going?
Holly is leon rolling more? i wouldnt worry yet either, though if your concerned get onto it sooner rather than later!
nai how are your gorgeous girls?? was G diffecult when she turned 3?? i assume its normal!
ETA meg that was M's favourite spot last week too!!! on her side as well!
-
Olive - good to hear Millie is on the mend! 3 is an interesting time - I refer to Miss G as my Threenager. They are so moody and tempramental. I actually think it was worse than when she was 2. However, at 3.5 she really turned a corner and the last few months have been much more enjoyable.
Ellie - great news about your scan!! OP - when is yours?
Det - you are superwoman!
Pinny - they do move fast once they get started!!
Kaz - you will get time for yourself again, I promise! It sometimes seems like forever but it does go quickly and before you know it they want sleepovers at friends places.
AFU - we went out for dinner as a family last night and that was all great until we got home and bedtime was awful. Miss J went down ok but the Miss G had a tanty and woke her up. Then it took 2 hours to get her back to sleep. Grrr! Now we all have colds :( Miss J is still not crawling or rolling around. She can push herself backwards but gets stuck under things and cries. She is getting really frustrated about it.
-
Hi girls,
So much to catch up. I think I will have to start again.
Jols- I cant believe how many ear infections poor Miss M has had. I am so sorry to hear that  Hopefully you get some answers fromt he ENT specialist.
Nai- So glad you are enjoying work. All that swimming must be great for your weight loss. That is excellent the girls like daycare.
Ellie- Sorry you are still sick. I hope it passes soon.
OP- Still cant believe you are having another bub! So exciting. Ash sweats alot on her head as well. Hope the heat wave eases down there for you guys.
Kaz- Dont you worry about what that MCHN says. I havent been for so long. I was having lunch with a gf the other day who has a 9 month old who doesnt crawl and isnt rolling much at all. Its her second baby and she isnt worried. Her first one didnt really start moving until around 10 and a half months and she is now a healthy 3 year old. Hope you are having a nice weeend with your sister.:)
Megie- ITs so funny to go ina nd see where they are in their cots. Glad things are going well.
Pinny- that is great that L is on the move. Time to baby proof the house now!!!
Det- Glad things are going well. 3 kids must be hard work. It is good that book is such an easy going kid. I love his moving style video on FB. So funny! I was thinking of you the other day and how I used to woder how in the world you used to finction on such little sleep. Over the last couple of weeks, I see that you jsut have to. I have been getting 4 hours on a good night and not because of Ashlyn but because I have had so much work to do. I find now I dont have as much time to do things during the day while she is awake so I save it all for when she is sleeping and then she is an early riser so the new day starts whether I am ready or not! My hat goes of to you though!
I am really sorry I cant see back any further.
I have more to post about me but will have to come back later as Ash has now finished her toast and wants me.
:grouphug:
-
Ali- maybe prioritise things and the stuff way down on the list skip past so you don't have to do as much stuff. I have similar issues I am always stressing bout getting everything done but once girls are in bed thats it I decided its my time.
Nai- Em was like that going backwards then one day took off and hasn't looked back!
Olive- I'm still waiting for the sling to arrive, coming from Perth.
And I hear you on the 3's. Ash some days has such an attitude then sweet as pie the next! It is a fun age tho, on the good days I enjoy it on the bad days well thats another story!
Meg- Em does same thing, some nights she has bar lines from pushing up against it so hard.
Pinny and Det- I bought it off e-bay, will let you know what its like after it arrives, I'm expecting to get it tomor.
Ellie- great news on the scan, now for the m/s to settle.
Britney concert last wed was fantastic! I loved it had pretty good seats.
Em has been drooling like anything and being bit funny so hoping if finally a tooth is on its way.
-
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee millie is on the move!! commando crawling!!!
shell is there a tooth this morning???
ali how long to christmas holidays??
-
Woohoo - go Millie!
I think Miss J will be the last to move at this rate  Although seeing she is a day younger than Millie she might do it today ;)
DP did some more home studio shots of the girls yesterday so there are some new pics on FB - they are pretty cute
-
she'll be on the move before you know it!!
-
Nope I bet E will be last! She still just rolls to get everywhere.
-
Shell- thanks for the tips, I am jsut finding it really hard to find the balance between work and home at the moment. I hate work. Dont get me wrong I love my job, but I am not liking leaving Ash at the moment.I actually got really upset this morning leaving her today. Glad you hada good time at Britney!
Jols- Way to go Millie Moo!!!! That is fantastic! No stopping her now! All that flying must have paid off! On the count down for work. 9 work days to go!!
Nai- Your girls are beautiful! G's hair isthe most gorgeous hair I have ever seen! And they both have the most stunning eyes!
Megie- How is J going? Are you still having any probs? The rolling as all good. They still get whatever they want or go wherever they want! Funny little things.
Ellie- I saw your other thread. That is awaful and such double standards.
:hello: to everyone else. Almost died in the heat today. We had assembly outside this arvo which was an absolute joke! I really felt for the kids. Thank goodness for the cool change tomorrow.
STill ploddign along here. We went out to dinner last night with Ash's godfather and his gf and ASh sat in a highchair there for 2.5 hours!!! She was so good, eating steamed zuchinni and carrot off our plates. We didnt leave the restaurant until 9:40pm so she did amazingly! About to go and make another big effort on my reports. Hope everyone has a good night. :grouphug:
-
Go Millie - I wish that Alex wasn't moving - man he can crawl fast, and we have to stand everywhere - LOL
Have any of you girls tried controlled crying?
-
luci i did with DD1 and hated and regretted it! its tough and doesnt always work!!!
whats happening with alex's sleep??
oh no and standing all the time :o
ali 9 days!! wooohooooo  2.5 hours is awesome!!
-
Jols- Yay Millie, bet she keeps you busy now, Lewis moving everywher and into everything!!!
Malyna- I have not tried it.. don't think I could TBH. but in saying that I don't always go in straight away but I never let him get really upset.
Ali- It is so hard dropping them off when you son't really want to,rekon it's harder on us though than on them
Nai- Saw your photo's on FB, the girls are just beautiful..
Well a woohoo for me, I have just extended my maternity leave for another 6 months, I feel so great about it, almost can't believe it.. but I was dreading going back and said to DH joking that I wish i could take longer and he said well why don't you so i have!!!
-
Pinny - great news on the extension of mat leave - I'm not going back to work - really didnt' enjoy it that much.
Olive - he just needs a really long cuddle session to get to sleep. Tonight I started at 7 and put him down at 9 BUT I had to leave him in his cot for a few minutes, until he got upset then he settled quickly.
He only goes to sleep on the boob and loves cuddling. Sometimes I wish that DH could put him to sleep. I'm finding it exhausting. Controlled cryign won't work with him because he just escalates his crying and wont settle, just gets hysterical (well for him its hysterical) and the only thing that will settle him is the boob.
I'm to the point where I'm going to strangle the IL's because that is their answer for getting him to settle.
-
Malyna = ILs can be a pain. I didn't try cc, I did try to stay with J when he woke from a 40min day nap and resettle him into another sleep cycle but it didn't work. I was there, I was comforting him in and out of the cot and he just got more and more worked up. I tried for three afternoon sleeps (three days in a row) and gave up. It wasn't working at all and I decided then to give sleep school a miss (had been thinking long and hard about putting our name down on a waiting list prior to trying the resettling in the cot) because I really don't think it would work for him. Sounds like A is the same.
Have you checked out the comforted sleep section of BB? Kelly has put a few good articles and links in the sticky section. Have a read and either tell your ILs why you're not keen or give them some of the articles to read. You're his mum, you know him best. Tell 'em it would help you more if they just offered support, rather than solutions that you don't think will work. If they've mentioned it once or twice and you haven't taken them up on the suggestion surely that tells them something???
Is he improving over time? Like if you look back to how he was one month ago or two? With J, he has gone backwards and forwards with his sleep - sometimes it's awesome and sometimes it seems like it's crap. I am trying to remind myself that his crap days now, were his typical days a couple of months ago so there has been some progress and I know he can do it, I just have to wait him out through each crap phase. I'm no longer even wishing for him to sleep through, just feeding once overnight instead of three times or more, would be awesome!
I hope you're ok. It must be overwhelming to have to cuddle him to sleep for hours every night.
-
-
Like the new name lilima!!
-
:) But you guys can still call me Meg if you want!!!!!
-
Meg - like the new name :-D
Kaz - overwhelming is an understatement. I'm not coping at all. Last week when I visited teh MCHN nurse they did the PND test and I'm going backwards fast. I can't remember how many times, I've felt that little rubber band snap and its taken all my willpower to stop myself from just walking out on everything. I sometimes think i was pretty darn crazy to go into motherhood, considering all the crap I've been through in my life and I know I couldn't deal with two children - I'm really fortunate in that Alex is such a calm baby (most of the time). I know I just need to get over it, get my head around just getting used to holding him for 3+ hours a night but it still doesn't stop me from wanting to walk out on everything.
But its all sent to test us and what doesnt' shatter us into little tiny pieces makes us stronger - I just hope that I can hold it together long enough for Alex to get out of this stage and hang in there.
-
Malyna- sounds like you're having a rough trot. Have you been recommended to a councillor? I'd hate for the PND to get worse so might be worth a thought. As for sleeping I had major issues with Ash and what we did was not exactly controlled crying as I was in the room always and I picked her up if she got hysterical but it did involve a fair amount of crying but at the time it was what I needed as I was spending an hour to get her to sleep in the day for her to sleep only 30mins and I was up at minimum 3 times a night. If you are interested I can PM you but its up to you what you feel comfortable to do, don't feel presured by ILs or anyone. It was really hard the first couple days but it did save my sanity as I was in tears everyday .
Pinny- yay on the extension of mat leave, I have mixed feelings of returning back, mostly I am looking forward to the money but willo miss the girls.
Ali- Thats great she sat so long! Emily only sits long enough to eat a cruskit then she cracks it, always have to make sure I have them packed away for if I want to go have coffee or something.
Still not tooth, the lump I could feel has gone down so they just don't want to pop thru. On the subject crawling she is crawling properly now most of the time, she is getting faster so doing it more. Poor knees on hard floor tho.
We have the christmas lights and our tree up now. I am so excited this year with Ash, I keep having to remind myself real meaning christmas I am getting carried away with santa and all that sorta thing.
-
Shell - i know how to manage things - having had PTSD for 10years - it's just getting the energy and the space to manage it - I don't have a lot of either at the moment. DH doesn't really look after Alex when I'm around.
Please PM me the details.
Last night - Alex didn't have an afternoon nap, so it took an hour to settle him, but he was up at 7.30 and I had to go to bed with him then, because he just screamed ever time he went into the cot - and he just escalates - there's no inbetween.
gotta go, had my 5 minutes to myself today - he's in the porta cot and complaining.
Take care girls
-
Oh Malyna - I don't want to sound rude but your DH needs to step up a bit and take A off your hands for a bit. You really sound like you need more support than you're getting. I get what you mean about having the skills to cope with stuff but needing the space to actually do that and process things in your head. If you went to a counsellor for an hour or so a week would your DH take A during that time?
Please PM me if you want to chat. Anytime.
-
pinny im very excited youve extended your leave, means we can catch up more!! hehehe totally selfish reasons! how is L??
meg nice name! i'll still call you med, i still call malyna tarkine
kaz i never resettle for day sleeps,i used to try with sophie and only ended up stressed and anxious! wasnt nice! plus i dont h ave the time! our sleep is the same, good, bad, good, bad!
tarkine how are you hun??? ignore the outlaws hun, you know whats right and best for your baby!
shell were going to the tree soon, sophie is very excited and asks every day when are we putting it up!!
AFU millie is commando crawling or as sophie says mango crawling!! shes in to everything  but much happier, on the down side, both are sick :( colds AGAIN!!!!!! over illness!
-
 Malyna, I hope your DH gives you some time so that you can do what you need to do. It's so hard when you have a clingy baby to deal with and this is the age unfortunately where they are starting to get more aware and protest more vocally with separation anxiety.
Olive - poor Millie being sick again!
Shell - has that tooth come through yet?
AFU - DD1 was sick again yesterday. Once again on a Thursday so I have been unable to have a break to get things done that need to be done. I need to get the Christmas shopping started but can't get time alone to do it!!
Miss J is now saying "mumma". She's been sleeping terribly and was screaming for 2 hours straight last night before she finally went to sleep about 9pm. It's hard to be annoyed with her though when she smiles and says "mumma". She waved and said "baabaa daadaa" today - which we took to mean "bye bye Daddy" :D Bit of a stretch but we will claim it.
-
Olive- Oh noooo not sick again!! you poor mummy, hope you have strength to get through it... Abbey calls it " Bamamboo" crawling..
Nai-L been having heaps of trouble getting to sleep too, think it's the heat! Hope DD1 gets better quickly
Malyna- Chin up darl...hope your having better days
AFM- Well my little man has just cut two more teeth the top ones!! and has become one of those babies who puts EVERYTHING in his mouth!! sooo dangerous, already we have had a choke on small piece of sticky tape, piece of cotton and small piece of foam!! and I vacuume everyday and would consider my house to be quite tidy, so it is so hard, he seems to hunt things out just to put in his mouth!!
-
Pinny - :o I am in awe that you vacuum every day darl. Whoot to you!! I wish I was that conscientious about my house. Yay on the teeth!
Nai - I'd definitely claim that too!!
Olive - I only tried resettling for those three days and have not tried since. I leave him in there until he gets more insistent that he wants to get up. Nice to know others have the good/bad sleep cycling going on. Hope your girls are both better soon!!
AFU - So tired. J woke every two hours last night - fed at 5pm, 7pm, 9pm, 11pm, then 1:30am and 3:30am. The 3:30 feed wasn't a proper feed and then he bit me so I put him back to bed. He lay awake grumbling until 5am keeping me and DP awake in the process. Fed at 5am. Slept til about 6:15 then up. I think its the heat (no air con here :( ) and also he's 36 weeks old this week so could be a wonder week thing - categories. The other day I saw him studying a grain of risotto rice very intently and trying to pick it up.
Hope you're all coping with the heat girls!
-
millie just pulled herself to her feet :o
-
No way!!! Quick put her in the highchair and don't let her out for the rest of the day!!
-
Hi everyone
Just popping in to thank everyone for their support with my yukky in law melt down the other day...madness setting in here as all the rellies and friends start arriving from all over the place...wish me luck! A decided that now would be a good time to crawl ready to show off all weekend...thank goodness I bought a playpen just in case!!! WIll catch up properly next week...have a great weekend everyone...and thanks again Exxx
-
hey girls
still here!!
All going well- just been sooo busy!!!! Had to go to work 3 days this week as well as pull 2 all niters to get paperwork done grrr! The worse part is that we have had big problems with possumms in our roof lately and one died down the flue of our chimney and we cant get it out!!!! It reeks and we can do anything about it- so the house has smelt awesome this week whilst the possum has been decaying in the wall!! been soo glad that we have hardly been home this week.
Boof has been ACE and coming to work with me - he goes everywhere with me still- can go far without the boobas in case of emergency lol-
whilst i work he plays on the ground besides me - just chillin crawling/rolling/commandoing everwhere too funny
he is trying to walk now- i am not ready for him to be walking yet lol
he just wants to stand all the time and has managed to stand unassisted for a few seconds by himself- he just pulls himself up and stands and shuffles around the ottoman trying to get the kids toys and whatever other crap has been left there
still no sleeping though the nite and we dont settle during the day as we are usually on the move somewhere anyway, so boof has learnt to sleep anywhere he can
the other day at pilates he crawled up to where i was doing an exercise on my side- helped himself to some booba juice and prompt fell asleep on my mat- i had to to the rest of the class around a sleeping child who was asleep on the middle of my mat lol
hey to all - take care and keep sane!!!
might actually get to bed before 3am tonite whoot! bonus!
nite girls and stay sane!!xxxx'
-
 eeeewwww dead possum smell!!! I know that one all too well Det! We had a possum die in out roof right above the lounge room and it STUNK! Fortunately DP was able to get it out. I also had rats die in our ducted heating once and when the heating came on the stench was hideous (I'm actually making myself feel sick thinking about it so I won't go on)
AFU - finally had a better night. Miss J went down at 7pm, woke at 1.30 and then down until 6am. Miss G slept through and seems much better. Maybe it was the cool change!
-
Yeah I reakon the cool change has helped, Emily slept thru til 7:15! :o I really don't think she needs night bottles anymore but usually I just give cause I know she'll go back to sleep and I'm too tired to argue! lol. Hopefully on her own she'll start going right thru like last night.
Det- that is sooo cute! At least you know he can pretty much sleep anywhere then, as long as booby is there, lol. Eww bout the possum, I feel ill thinking about it. Its great you can take Boof into work with you. Be too hard in my job to do.
Ellie- Hope you have a great weekend, despite all that happened leading up to it, but glad you came to a decision with it all and can now move on with things.
Kaz- How did your night last night go? Could be a wonder week, we've just started the studying things on the ground too.
Pinny- Yes I hear you, I am constantly sweeping, vacuuming yet she still finds crap, the other day she was gagging and had got some glittery paper thingy off one of Ash's costumes, makes it harder too with older kids cause all there crap as well.
Malyna- hope you got my PM, maybe just leave A with DH and go out do something nice for yourself, get your hair done, massage, anything nice.
Ash lately has taken to deliberately annoying Emily and its driving me bonkers. All I hear is Emily grizzling constantly.
