Hey NZGirl - great to hear from you! You sound busy and happy. :)
Malyna - for the teething - hope it's not to painful for both of you! Walking around things is full on! I wouldn't be ready either, although A obviously is!
Meg - Hope work was ok.
Nai - Are you back at work too (aside from swimming I mean)? Do you work from home?
Shell - Oh that sucks you are still having sleep issues. You are right that you never know what they're going to do one night to the next. J had a more restless night last night (back to his old self) but I can't complain cause so far it's only one night. I hope Em continues to pick up and you start getting more unbroken sleep soon.
Holly - Thought of you yesterday with the exam. Hope it all went ok!
Ali - Been thinking of you and DP a lot lately darl. Hope all is well with you guys. Did A's rash clear up?
AFM - Got the PiL coming to stay for the weekend. DP has gone to work for the morning so even though it's the weekend, still feels like mid-week in terms of looking after J. After all the talk of babies moving I bought J a moving toy today to try and entice some movement!! He hates tummy time still and will roll exactly once to get onto his back  He will reach for stuff but has amazing balance and hardly ever falls towards the toy he wants. If he can't get it, he'll just sit there and crack it til someone helps him
-
BBL but whoa its fruiting hot here today :o 34 :o what the!! i hate summer and it hasnt even started yet!
-
I hate summer! I'm so over it already after 2 hot days! How nice was the southerly breeze when it came thru.
Had trick or treaters knock on my door, I was so excited, first time ever, had to find something, ended up with museli bars. I wish we celebrated it here, we're planning on taking Ash next year.
-
We get trick or treaters every year here Shell. We were actually a bit organised this year for a change.
Meant to say before that I have found the same pattern with J re: food alternating with milk. I started with milk before every meal but it's just naturally progressed to alternating every couple of hours (depending on how long he sleeps etc). I've decided not to stress about it cause he's still having 5-6 milk feeds a day.
-
Yep Hooooooootttttttt here too! Then a huge storm came through and i had to shut all the windows are the rain was getting in. Boo hoo as the breeze was lovely.
The dog was so scared! Then we lost our internet connection, while I was playing cafe world, so all my good work was ruined.
We only had 2 trick or treaters this year, and I was even organise with lollies! last year we had heaps and I had nothing, so I gave them 50cents each as we had a jar of coins.
I dunno - I think it is a bit annoying actually. I don't mind some kids coming around, but I won't be encouriging mine to do it. I also worry that the food that they get from other people may be either unhygeinic or they have tampered with it in some way.
Warm and humid again here today. But warm enough to dry the washing.
Got a busy week ahead. not much on tomorrow, then Tuesday BBQ at a friends, Wedensday DH and I are going to the Kyneton Cup, Thursday work for a few hours, friday work, then sat off the the beach house till at least the following Tuesday!
-
A bit quiet in here!!
Megie, sounds like a great week you've got planned!
Shell and Kaz - thanks, I think I did OK...I know I passed but not with flying colours lol. The statistics and experimental design section always gets me! I am now anxiously waiting for results which are released early next month - scary!
L has cut another tooth - a top tooth! I'm not sure what it's called...one of the front one's between the middle and eye teeth, if that makes sense! So not the 2 middle ones, but one of the ones next to them! 3 teeth already!!
He had vegetable soup for dinner last night and tonight and I think he's reacted to something I put in it as he went all red around his lips. I'm thinking it was the tomato or paprika?? It had potato, tomato, carrot, celery, zucchini, brocoli, mushrooms, parsley and I added small amounts of corriander, cumin seed, paprika and turmeric (also added pasta shells but fished them out so he didn't directly eat any). He has eaten curries on a few occasions so he's used to a bit of extra flavour and spice, but he's never had tomato before. Other than the rashy lips, he seems fine...normal poos!
We've all been sick here, DP still is and L is on the mend. Glad flu season is ending!
Gotta run, hi to everyone - sorry for selfish post! xox
-
that tooth is callled a lateral incisor holly, id say the reaction may have been tomato, its notorious for reactions in kids with saliclayte (sp) issues, how does he go with avocado??
-
Holly, I would think tomato was the culprit too.
Kaz, I do work from home but only about 2 hours a week.
AFM - we have been away at a wedding all weekend and Miss J has been sleeping badly. She's also getting a lateral incisor so will have 5 teeth by tomorrow! I am so sleep deprived I feel sick :( On the bright side she started clapping today so that was cute and we took the girls to the beach. It was J's first time. She loved the water but not to keen on the sand
-
hehe at 5 teeth!! we still have none!!
it was sophies bday yesterday! cant believe i have a 3 yr old!
-
Hiya, well I hoped it was teething but it wasn't. Last night he didn't go down til 11.30pm and I'm having real trouble at the moment coping with it. I dont' get a break during the day, as he rarely goes into the cot for his naps (he wakes as soonas I put him down).
I've just got back in from gardening, in the dark, desperate to have some time to myself. I really don't know what I'm going to do. I keep hanging in there hoping that one day, I'll be able to get him into his cot and not be so sleep deprived so I can write (which is why I'm not in here much).
Sorry so selfish a post.
Take care all
-
No teeth here either, am wondering tho if any are coming cause lately she's been crying in her sleep, not long like a 3 sec cry but quite a few thru the night and been some yuck poo!
Olive- how did soph enjoy her birthday? When Ash turned 3 I was thinking omg shes gonna be seen as a pre schooler now not a toddler anymore!
Nai- I hope you get more sleep its awful. I was like that last week could barely function. And its not so easy to rest in the day with a 3 yr old to entertain.
Holly- Yay, glad it went well, you might surprise yourself and get a HD! You should be proud doing it with being unwell and having a baby and trying to fit in all the study.
Meg- going away to the beach house will be nice! I'm jealous.
Not overally impressed with Df at the moment, he went out sat night as usual got home via a police car, he wasn't arrested or anything he is bit vague on details but alcohol involved. Then he decided to wake up sun morn and start drinking again at like 10am! His idea to get over a hang over to drink a couple but the couple turned into 7. Grrr
-
Malyna- would you consider sleep school? Is your health nurse supportive? Maybe have a chat to her?
-
Shell - I would be SO PI$$ED OFF.
Malyna - Yeah maybe sleep school. If you have private health insurance ther ae some great ones around, that offer a few days in.
-
booooo!!!
sorry for been MIA DH is on hols and just been plain old busy!
-
I think there is an echo in here!!! Hhhhhhhh eeeeeeee llllllll llllll ooooooo!
OK off to work now
-
Hi girls,
Still around, but busy. Been marking assessments and writing reports and all the usual stuff as well.
Dont think I am going to have them in on time for some reason!
:grouphug: to everyone and their babies!
-
I know very unusually quiet in here for all the chatter boxes!
We had lovely day, took the girls to the local park for a picnic and Emily didn't whinge or grizzle once so must've been fun!
Poor Ash at the shopping centre playground got shoved and kicked at by some little ***** kid who looked about 6, the mother was off having coffee where she could only see part of the playground and this girl and her brother were bullying quite a few kids. I told her off but thinking now I should've gone and said something to the mother just to keep an eye on her kids.
Hope everyone is doing well and getting sleep!
-
Hi girls - well Alex is now sleeping.. his teeth came up today at lunch with a GF, then they went down by the time DH came home.
I don't get it. he did this last time he went all crazy with the sleep, by the time I got around to booking him in, he fixed himself up again.
He's now started scooting things across the floor - i.e. get a book under his hands, then crawl forward with his knees. Everything is going across the house, he got into my purse and my medicare did a hot lap of the lounge, dinner plate, cat food bowl, remote, books.. sigh.. (its a hoot!)
-
Malyna - cheeky boy retracting those teeth ;) They can go up and down for a while before they finally come out. I think they always improve when you make the call to do something about them be it sleeping, illness etc. Kids have a sixth sense I think!
Shell - I would have been so cross about poor Ash!
Ali - good luck with all your reports. I remember my mum doing her reports for school and her sitting there for hours (usually trying to think of something nice to write about a horrible kid  )
AFU - We have been very busy!! I have been doing my swimming teaching which is fun and I have 2 lots of classes. Tuesday mornings when my mum has the girls I teach 4 classes which range from 18m to 3.5yrs. Thursday afternoons when the girls are in CC I teach 5 classes ranging from 3.5yrs to 8yrs. Miss J is going to CC one full day a week and she is loving it. She has 2 sleeps and drink 2 full sippy cups and eats all her food. The carers say she is a joy and always happy - it makes it so much easier to have one full day where I do work from home and then teaching all in one go.
-
Hey girls
Sorry for being MIA, went over to Merimbula on the NSW south coast for an extended Cup weekend with the family! Good fun - hard work driving across and back though. Took a looong time.
Nai - great work on the teaching! Sounds like you are really enjoying it and it must make it so much easier knowing Miss J is enjoying CC.
Malyna - hope the sleep situation improves with Alex!! Fancy those teeth going up and down - how bizarre.
Shell - poor Ash. I would have told the kid off too but not sure about saying something to the mum... might have done, not sure! Oh and I would have throttled DH if he'd been behaving like your DF is!
Hi Ali - good luck with reports and marking!!!!
Olive - we have no teeth here either!
Holly - hope L's reaction has settled down!
Hi to everyone else!!!
AFM: just feeling sick and tired ATM, waiting for it to pass. Had a nap yesterday arvo as DH came home early, that was nice. He's home today but he's sick so no help there... ah well!
Isabel has started to wave - she puts her hand in the air and opens and closes her fingers in a fist, so cute. Except she does it at random times, not in response to us waving at her or anything like that! This is a pretty good age I think!
-
Hi all,
I too have been MIA, we went down to the family caravan for a few days which was wonderful. Lewis now offically commando crawling... and is soooo close to proper crawling... since getting home he has been trying so hard...he gets so fustrayed at himself too, I think it will be only a matter of days now!! Arrhh it is so much harder when the are on the move!!!
Will be back later to post too much washing to get done, thank goodness for the nice weather!
-
Hi everyone
I'm here with my trusty blue bucket lol!
Had the strangest day...had my hair cut...which has been long and straight forever...I knew it had got thicker and a bit of a wave since being preg with A but now I've had it cut to my shoulders and layered I have CURLS...like curly CURLS! Bizarre! Poor A was asleep so didn't even know we were at the haridresser and woke up, took one look at me with CURLS and screamed the house down...I'm talking like 8 week needles scream...went SOOOOO red I thought she was going to explode! Poor DH had to take her for a walk and when he bought her back same thing...I think she hates it lol!!!! Was so bizarre! So that's the most excitement we've had in weeks around here! Now the countdown to 12 week scan on wednesday...hope A doesn't scream when she sees bubba on the screen lol!
-
Nai - wow the swimming sounds fun. I can't believe how much she is eating!
Elli - Alex doesn't like tape measures or packing tape or bubble wrap - he screams!
Pinny - commado crawling - hmm... not long until the real thing starts - I think alex did that for about 2 weeks then decided he'd just go to normal crawling!
OP - wow long drive, glad to hear you got home safely.
Sorry can't think of anything particularly intelligent to say. Finally got new lounge suite that fits through our front door. Took me four hours to settle Alex tonight.
Wishing you all a good week.
-
selfish post! i know i keep saying i'll BBL for personals and dont come back  im sorry!
will try tomorrow when im not so bloooooomin hot, AC needs cleaning so not in use at the moment and im hating it!
millie is feral today cried to 90 mins this morning then 3 hours this arvo :o then again at bedtime :o been a stressfull day
-
Olive- how did ur night go? I hope it was better than the day you had!
Ellie- LOL about blue bucket.. i had a trusty bucket with both my kids and it was such a good feeling to chuck it out..I put it in the bin as I was in labour with Lewis this time...yes I needed it all the way through, hoping it settles for you soon..poor darl..
-
God I hate the heat, few days of it and I'm so over it.
Olive- I saw on FB you had a white tail or something in yr air con, how bloody scary! Hope Millie settles for you, is she coming down with something do you think?
Malyna- 4hrs! Omg, how has he gone down tonight?
Ellie- so has she got used to your curls yet? Thats quite cute poor thing didn't know whats going on! I wish I had curls, unfortunately when i cut all my hair off few years ago remained dead straight.
Pinny- Em is doing the cammando crawl, every so often she will start doing it properly but because she has to think to do it she goes slow then gets sick of it and start com crawling again, now I have to chase her away from all the electrical cords in the wall.
OP- My parents love going to Merimbula, would've been nice to get away but yeah quite a long drive.
Emily still isn't really into solids since being unwell, bit annoying cause she is never gonna sleep right thru at this rate!
-
pinny she went well last night just up once at 4.30am!
didnt take too long to go to sleep this morning but slept for 90 mins so that was good, albeit cross ways at the bottom of the cot  then this arvo was only 35 mins, tonight was ok, i had to feed her twice before she settled, reading the 'no cry nap solutions'
shell i hate the heat too, no more spider, blimmy it was big :o yuk
no crawling here either, still flying heaps
ellie i hope you feel better soon
nai im glad your liking swimming!
op still feeling sick?? to you too
-
Miss J was in our bed all night last night being a gizzle guts :( She's been happy as anything apart from that though! Although I think I am starting to see some signs of separation anxiety.
Olive - eeewww spiders! I hate spiders *shudder* No crawling here either, lots of sliding backwards though. Lots of clapping too (I just posted the video on FB)
Ellie - is A used to your hair now? I hope the MS settles down for you soon!
-
nai we have s/a big time! its really bad!
millie doesnt clap wave or crawl and we have no teeth!
-
Hello hello! Sorry have been very busy and when free, just too tired to post! Have read everything - seems like we're all busy.
L's dedication was yesterday and the bloody church has no aircon...there was one ceiling fan going at a very slow pace! I could have died! Even in the hall I was too hot and stressed to mingle properly coz L was also hot and miserable so I felt like such a bad host. It would have been a lot more enjoyable without the heat, but oh well. It was a beautiful service and the food was good!
Today we met a couple of mums and bubs from MG at the pools. Of course in true L style, he was a total grump. Did not like the water one bit! Wouldn't let me put him down on the towel either. Meanwhile, the others were happy enough to splash in the water and sit on the towels having a snack  Lucky I haven't enrolled him in swimming lessons - it would take the whole lesson to stop him screaming!
Nothing much planned for the rest of the week. I'll catch up again with you all soon! xox
-
Hi ladies....so so sick today...Anika has adjusted to the curls but so clingy...have mastered the art of chucking with her on my hip...she seems happier with that option than being dumped on the floor in a hurry. Hope everyone has a great week...this ms has to settle...just has to...
-
awwww poor leon  does he like the bath?? he will get used to it!
ellie
AFM terrrible night here :o up around 7 times, around every 90 mins screaming slept with me from 4am, went to the dr, another ear infection, 3rd one in 10 weeks
-
Olive - Sounds horrible, poor Millie! Hope you're able to get a rest this afternoon!
Ellie - Oh dear, sounds bad! Have you tried that medication for ms? I really hope it clears up for you soon too darl.
Nai - wow you are busy with all that swimming!! must be so much fun.
Shell - No sleeping through here either and J loves his solids and still has milk 5-6 times a day. I am giving up all hope
Holly - Persevere with L and the water. One of the bubs in my MG screamed the whole time for the first two lessons but now at lesson four, she only grizzled a couple of times. I know you're not doing lessons but keep taking him until he gets used to it. Good luck in your results, I'm sure you'll do fine! I am still waiting on my thesis outcome and I submitted when J was 10 weeks old!!!! :o
Sorry girls, have read everything in fits and starts and can't remember much more  Everyone does seem busy.
AFU - Busy here as well. J is loving swimming, feeding himself and getting outside into the garden. He has finally cracked the 8kg mark (by 20gms!!!!!) WHOOT!! About time! Took him to the CHC this morning. He is still only rolling exactly once, to get off his belly. No back to belly rolling or any signs of crawling any time this century. The CFHN said that if he's not doing more rolling and rocking on his knees by the time he's 9 months old (exactly a month from tomorrow) then she'll be referring him to a physio. Do you think I should be worried?
-
Kaz - I would not be worried at all!! The stupid MHCN wanted to send us to an audiologist for Juliette's hearing because she wasn't babbling properly at 8 months. She started the next day and babbles constantly now!
DD1 didn't crawl until she was over 9 months and she was only rolling one way too. I was chatting to a friend who said her daughter just started to crawl last week at 11 months. Crawling is not even a milestone as not all babies crawl - some bottom shuffle and some just get up and walk.
-
-
Thanks Nai - that's exactly what I needed to hear. I'm happy to spend more time on the floor with him encouraging movement cause I've probably slacked off there a little and just put him down with toys and leave him to it but I think a physio sounded a bit OTT. I was a bum shuffler when I was a kid!!
-
Kaz that's just crap! Sounds like scaremongering to me! I asked L's mchn about L's progress, as he isn't sitting yet and she said not to even worry about it until he's 12 months. All in good time they say! Fingers crossed for your thesis feedback!
L has really starting rolling everywhere though, to the point I think I need to get another bed rail for the other side (I've found him upside down on the edge of the bed, half way down the bed on the opposite side to where I put him down!)
Thanks for the tips re swimming. Yeah hopefully he will get used to it soon!
Ellie, glad Miss A is used to the curls! Hope the MS eases, seeing as you;re heading into the second tri now.
Olive, poor M! (And you!). Hope the ear infection clears up soon. Must be so painful, poor thing.
Nai, too true re crawling - Kaz I wouldn't be suprised if one of our lazy boys (J and L) didn't crawl at all!
Anyway, off to bed now. So tired! Have a good week everyone :) xox
-
Kaz- Like others have said I wouldn't worry, my nephew never really crawled he pushed himself around on his back so much that he had bald spot on his head that used to get terrible cradle crap, bleeding etc. They do things in there own time own way.
Olive- wow another one?! Poor thing and you poor thing! Did they say any reason why she may be prone to getting them so often?
Holly- I've heard it can take awhile to get into swimming, Ash had probs with water on her face for ages, we had such dramas washing her hair.
Finally bought a hip sling, been wanting one for ages but everything so expensive, found a Quinny brand one, looks good in pic so hopefully it is.
-
Thanks Holly and Shell. It's hard not to worry when they say stuff like that! I was feeling really relaxed about him too before the visit
Ok, another question. Just wondering, how much 'down time' you guys get away from your babies/kids each week (if any?).
ETA: I'm going to start another thread I think but am interested in you guys cause our kids are close in age.
-
hey girls
just popping my head in for a sec before i get suckered into paperwork AGAIN!!!!
everything going good here- life with 3 kids is alot busier than I thought it would be- esp now that boof actually is demanding my time and mobile lol
boof is going well and growing heaps- getting himself around in his own unique style which is a cross between shuffling, scooting and commando plus rolling to get somewhere fast lol- too funny
we are having cot wars and a stand off at the moment- he has decided that he wants to come in our bed from around midnight and i caved in a couple of times so we had a stand off last nite which ended with him asleep in his cot at 5am lol- so i am claiming victory there- lets see what tonight brings!!
this kid still doesnt sleep- he is lucky to have one 20 min sleep a day- he is not tired the rest of the time- sometimes i drive around for a bit just to get him to go to sleep- cause i know how important it is that he tried to get more!
now lets see if i can remember everybody !
Kaz- MCHN are gold when they are good- but when they arn't they are poison- you know your boy better than anybody and if you are not worried, then dont stress!! Every baby develops and grows and different speeds and paces and that is just life- heaven help if bubs is a little outside the norm!!! hugs hun!!
As for time without kids- i get NONE!!!! Boof is 100% demand feed and doesnt take ebm so everywhere i go- he goes! Thats my choice and i struggled not having ME time when the twins were born - but over time i got use to it and its probably why i got to bed so late and spend so much time on the puter as that is my escape time for me! With boof i have been fine about not having any time by myself so far as he is low maintenance compared to the twins- at least i can carry out a conversation with boof around and sorta finish it lol (impossible with the twins!!) hugs hun
olive- that is crap another ear infection-might be worth a trip the pead to see what they can do prevent them (grommits??) DD used to get the heaps as well but they really stopped after she had her pnumoccicol vaccination - it immunises against the same bacteria that causes ear infections as well as pnumonia! hugs hun! also brauer have a great ear relief rememdy- might be worth keeping on hand as well!
Shell- enjoy britney tonite!! Also would love to hear about your hip sling- boof getting heavy in my buba sling and thinking of getting an ergo instead - but your one might be another option!
ellie - too funny about the chucking with bubs on your hip lol- when i was UTD with boof my twins were soo funny watching me chuck as well - one would get the bucket and on would get the rennies- they also would take it in turns to hold my hair for me lol!
you know its bad when your kids think rennies are lollies ! hope m/s passes- have you tried seasickness bands- they took the edge off it a little for me!!
hi to maylna, OP, Nai NZ girl, Pinnymum and everyone else!
grr DH is cracking the whip to start paperwork now - so gotta go - mwah!!!
