Vaeda gets hiccups almost every meal! It's so hard to deal with, even though all the research I've done and all the midwives I've spoken to say that babies do not care in the slightest, I can't stop thinking about how much it hurts my chest when I get a bout of hiccups and I worry worry worry...

Vaeda gets them halfway through a feed and still wants to keep going! She makes a cute sound like a squeaky toy every time she swallows haha.. Actually latches on really well when she's got the hicccups so it's a good time to feed her

Hello to everyone and congrats on all the babies, I have finally gotten around to joining the thread, our second little girl, Chloe May, was born on the 29th, at 9.47am, 9lb 1oz (4120g) and 56cm long. Our birth story is here https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...y-arrival.html

She has been a boobie monster since birth, feeding every 2 hours for 20 minutes for the first 4 days, my milk was overflowing at day 3, lucky she has backed down to half an hour every 3 to 4 hourly. Took her a good few days to learn but is going brilliantly now, my grazes have all healed. She has such a feroucious suck it was near impossible to get her off, and the mw's kept commenting on how strong she is, its like trying to wrestle a tiger.

She is sooooo noisy, she makes constant hummmmmmssss and little grunts and mouse noises while sleeping. Lucky I have adapted to it quick, Amelia never did it, and I am sleeping through it now.

Her big sister just adores her and spends all day checking up on her, reading her books and playing cup a teas with her. We are getting her gp checkup tomorrow so we will see what the little porka has put on.

Vintrar/Kamarine - has anyone suggested expressing a little before a feed to make the nipple and areola more soft. Mine are normally very solid and flat with no give, so when my milk comes in they are rock solid, making it difficult for bubs to latch on, I need to express about 30mls before each feed or its impossible.

Emma/Vintrar - both of my children suffered/suffer from hiccups just about every feed and even in between, and although they will tell you that it doesnt bother them, Chloe thrashes around and carries on until they stop, I know there is nothing I can do about it but I feel so sorry for her. Its caused by the diaghragm doing something out of whack, some say in newborns it happends more regularly because it is still immature.

Hi to all the new mums! Just a quick post as it is getting late and I need some sleep! I am finding I am super tired at the moment, but once that early hours feed happens I am happy to potter around for an hour or more. I think it comes back to not sleeping much when I was pregnant. Some habits die hard!

We have had a big day today, as a girlfriend come over to do some baby photos. She is just getting into baby photography and she did a lot of work with Luka and then some family shots. From the ones she showed me they look great, so I cannot wait to see the finished product!

Phynna - Yay for finally making it!

Study - Great to meet you, look forward to getting to know you more

Vin - The hiccups have to hurt bubs, surely. Luka gets so upset when he gets them, poor little things. He got them a lot when I was pregnant and now he has arrived he still gets them often.

Colestar - How is Jayde going with her wind problems? We always found that by laying bubs across your lap and tapping their back is an effective way of getting the hard to get wind up! We have tried that with Luka as he can be tricky, but usually if you walk with him you can get it as well.

Liminal - How is the breast feeding going?

Emma - I am bottle feeding as well. Both my girls are bottle fed babies, as my milk never come in and they have turned out fine! I expressed with both at first, but it is a lot of work. I have been expressing for Luka because my boobs are demanding it twice a day, but because the breast / formula combination is not doing any favours for his poos we have decided to go solely to formula. I was not even getting enough for one feed a day, so I cannot put him through the pain of constipation for not even one bottle.

Kamarine - Your little girl sounds like she made a very quick entrance! Was your first birth drug free?

Sorka - 4 boys! Are you done now or would you like to try again for a girl? A lot of people are not phased by what they get, I am one of 3 girls and we were more than happy to have another girl. But we got a boy this time around and that is fine as well. As long as they are healthy is all we could ask for!

Liminal - How is the breast feeding going?

Getting less painful now, thanks. Now, to wait (probably for a while) for V to drop a night feed! 10pm, 1am, 4am, 7am, it's killing me but I know plenty have it worse.
