Smithy - Not looking forward to taking Jayde to get needles. She was ok when they put the canuala in her hand when she was in hospital a few weeks back but its horrbile for the little things but like you said SO much better then if they dont have them. Go Charlie for the sleep, eat and poop we LOVE to hear this. We put Jayde's cradle in her own room last week too and I put the radio on it worked well for her, and as DH is away for the week I have put one of his shirts underneath where she sleeps it helps her...at least I think it does lol
K1 - Its not silly to be nervous I hope that you enjoyed thier company. I was heaps nervous meeting up with the "young" mums group I go to but now I love it I enjoy going every friday and its nice to talk about babies to others :)
Karamine - Good Luck with the move, DH and I are thinking about moving to the Gold Coast next year - he comes from QLD and misses it up there and wants to bring Jayde up near the water...

:hello: to everyone else. Luka is 6 weeks tomorrow, where does the time go? He has turned into such a little chatterbox. I went to see Mamma Mia today, so have been making up for being away from him with lots of cuddles. Now I have been talked into taking my parents and mother in law to see Jersey Boys tomorrow night as well. DH told me to go out whilst I can and have babysitters! But I really could do with a night at home tomorrow night as I am finding I am really tired this week. Luka is feeding at midnight and we are both going to bed then, then getting up early with Tay as she comes to our bed and won't go back to sleep. Roll on the weekend, going to have a really quiet one!

Hmmm, my children just must be piggies, she drank 200mls this afternoon :rolleyes: Amelia could drink 300 by 3mths.
Smith - I know what you mean when people tell you what they 'should' be drinking, I never had a problem with any nurse telling me that, mine is great and tells you they will take what they want, and damn straight, if Amelia didnt get it all hell would break loose. All the looks of :o I got with this little bubba (she really was little regardless that she drank like a pig) and this huuuugggeee bottle stuck in her mouth. Maybe our bubba's have been sending each other good sleeping vibes cause Chloe slept from 10.30 last night till 5.30 this morning, had a feed and a poop and back to sleep till 9. I also thought it helped that we had a nice warm shower before her last feed. Hope that keeps up :p
I'm not looking forward to needles either, probably cause I am getting jabbed to :doh: we got offered free whooping cough vaccine as new parents (well new new), so we took it cause apparently there is an outbreak in qld atm.
6 week growth spurt must be coming on cause she is feeding like a trooper and getting all unsettled and fussy, should die down once the growth spurt is over :crossfingers:

:dance: my girls has slept again
from 8pm till 2am then had a feed went back to sleep till 6am had a feed and still in bed even after her needles yesterday im so proud of her maybe shes finally finding some routine,i gave her a bath late again and another beautiful baby massage .
so im off to do the food shopping and to buy a new baby monitor there one on sale at toyworl for $40 bucks down from $100:clap:
have a wonderful day beautiful mummys its a lovely rainy day here today bit cool but beautiful actually i think thats been helping charlie too its been cooler so shes not so hot all the time.

Study - 200mls! OK, I am putting Luka up again. He is taking 140 and there is not a drop left. Been thinking about it and I am just going to do it. I will put him to 150 and see how he goes from there.
Smithy - Glad to hear things have changed with Charlie, sounds like she has turned a real corner!
All ok here, we still don't have a proper routine, as much as I am trying. Luka seems to be unsettled in the afternoons and will wake with noise which my girls never did. Trying to keep an almost 4 year old and 2 and a half year old quiet is near impossible, so there is a lot of resettling at the moment.
Has anyone else's bubs developed dry pimply cheeks? Luka has come out in a rash on both cheeks which I thought were milk spots, but now he is quiet dry. Not sure whether to put anything on him or let him go. I remember trying cream on DD1 and it made her face worse. Any tips?
I am hoping that the hot weather passes soon, I think when he is hot and bothered his skin is worse.
Well better go and check my girls, they are quiet which means trouble! Also need to get a start on dinner. Hope you are all having great weekends and hi to you all x

Kazaraz- DS has the same dry pimply cheeks, which is also a little bit on his forehead as well i have been using some paw paw cream on it and its looking way better, i just apply is after his bath at night and his face is usually pretty right until late arvo.

Kazaraz - nah it wasnt in the red tub although i assume its the same sorta thing. The one im using is in a black tube made by Pure Nutraceuticals its called paw paw ointment with calendula. Can be used for dry skin to cracked nipples and nappy rash...its awesome stuff

Minny - I have used the paw paw cream in the red tub, but I went to put some on him last night and it was out of date. I will go and by some. He face looks ok at the moment, but by late in the day or at night and especially if it is hot he gets really red and his face looks really irritated! Roll on the cooler weather I say, so much better for them when it is not as hot!
How is everyone going with sleeping? Luke has got himself in to a routine where he has a bottle at about 8pm and goes through until 3am. We wish he would do it from 12 to 7am lol. We woke him last night at midnight and he went through to almost 5am. He is also wanting more up time during the day, I fed him just after 8 this morning and he still is not asleep! He is talking and then has a grizzle, I go in there to resettle and he gets excited as he thinks he is getting picked up! So switched on for just over 6 weeks!

Kazaraz - i know with bf the milk rash is caused by the hormones that get passed from mother to baby, but with formula it can be a form of eczema, which it kind of sounds like cause its dry and looks irritated, and some creams will make it worse. my niece had it bad and dr suggested to try changing formula and using a topical cream, but paw paw ointment is great place to start cause i know it works well on my eczema when its not to bad, but if it doesnt help prob ask a doc. a good tip my sis also got was to always have some milk left in the bottle that way you know they are taking what they want, it really helped keep her little one settled for longer, she kept a top up bottle of formula in the fridge to add the little extra she wanted instead of making a whole extra scoop and throwing to much out.
chloes fantastic 7 hr sleeps at night have given way to 4 hours feeds again, probably a growth spurt so i am hoping it goes back to 7hrs again soon but she is feeding like a trooper and is down to under 10 mintues so no sleep really lost, i pick her up lay back in bed put her on and doze back off. her reflux is a million times better so she is sleeping really well but still catnapping during the day and cluster feeding in the evenings.
we got some pro photos done on Friday and i love them, now i just have to pick which ones i want to get printed, i only get 2 free for doing the shoot for her cause its promotional work for her new website. if anyone is in the brissie area i highly recommend her.

Studymum - They're beautiful!
I got photos done on Friday too. Talk about uncanny haha. Haven't got them to show yet, but I've seen some and omg. So pretty! Hoping to get them back before we move to Brisbane.
Kazaraz - Our sort of routine is I put Nao down for night at about 10 and dreamfeed at midnight and she'll go to sixish. (I say routine.. but its what Im trying for and get maybe 4 nights haha. Too unpredictable!) But Munchkins unsettled with the whole moving buzz, so shes been waking between 12 and six. Sooooo need some more sleep.
Colestar - The coast is nice, I miss Qld too. Cant wait to get back there.

Has anyone flown with a tiny bub before? Any tips lol! Or even tips for flying with two?! Four hours seems a looong time for me lol.

kamarine - we flew to perth (5 1/2 hr) with a one year old, i thought i might have be insane. my gp actually recommended drugs when i mentioned the long flight, lol, it was just polaramine, it doesnt actually knock them out just helps them to relax well. she used to fly frequently with young children and she said flying can have strange effects on some kids actually upsetting or making them hypo for some reason. we gave it half an hour before flight and she fell asleep on take off both times and slept about 1 hr on me and woke, she was so good she just sat and played, i was so proud of her, we took books and paper and crayons. a friend of mine flew with a little baby a few times and she mainly used a sling and said a dummy was a good idea to help their ears pop. the only thing that worried me was keeping amelia attached to the seatbelt, she was happy most the time to stay attached to it

hello everyone... my bubs is 2 months today, just got his jabs, ouch!
just wondering how frequently formula fed babies are feeding at the moment - during the day? i am feeding every 2 hours, sometimes 3, but i do get a good stretch at night time.... for a 2 month old is 2 hourly (sometimes 3 hourly) quite frequent? he only takes about 90mls, sometimes 120mls... just wondering if i should try stretching him out between feeds a bit more... he is only cat napping too....
what are your babies doing during the day?

Emma - we have just put Luka up to 150mls and he normally goes 3ish (4 if we are lucky) hours between feeds. We have been waking him at midnight to feed him so he will go through to 4-5am, so that DH can get up and feed him and then go to work. That is a great plan for us when it works!
Study - love the pics, they are stunning. We had some done of Luka as well, a friend of mine is just getting into baby photography. Last night we went and had hand impressions done of the 3 kids, hopefully that will turn out nice as well.
Kamarine - we have flown with Mia a bit when she was a baby up until we had Tay. We never had any issues with her, always made sure she was sucking on her dummy during take off and landing though. Depending on who you fly with staff can be really helpful and offer you pillows. Also make sure your nappy bag is within easy reach!

Finally got Luka settled tonight, he has had such a great day sleeping and I think tonight he just wanted to be awake. But then he got tired so got whingy and I have had a hard time getting him settled. Probably doesnt help that his head looks like a red beetroot at the moment. He had some spots, that seemed to turn nasty, dry and sore looking over night. The doctor confirmed it was eczema and told us to get a good moisturiser. Went to the chemist, he recommended one and it made his face so much worse. Today I have put some paw paw cream on his face to try and calm it down a bit and it has. Now I am on the hunt for something that will help him properly. I am seeing the paediatrician on friday, so hopefully he might help me more than the gp did!
Better go, trying to get to bed early tonight as I have not been able to wake up all day. I hope you are all well x

hmmmm, am thinking maybe he feeds quite frequently during the day because he goes longer stretches at night? last night he fed at 8.30pm, then 2.30am, then 7.30am.... so 6 hours then 5 hours.... but during the day it is half hour naps and feeding 2-3 hourly.... (3 hours if i am lucky)...
i am over the moon at his sleep and feeding at night, just during the day it feels a bit erratic and like i'm not sure what i'm doing! hopefully he grows out of the cat napping...

Sounds like most of us have had a good few sleeps at least. Sounds like Luka has a good pattern for now!
V is breastfed, early this week he did a couple of epic 8pm to 5am sleeping stints, but now we're back to waking at 1am, 3am and 5am. Still, now I know that sometimes it will be better. Have any breastfeeding Mums tried waking their baby? I'm wondering if I should give it a go, as he sleeps from 8pm to 1am and perhaps I could get him to sleep from 10pm to 3 or 4am if I woke him for a feed at 10?
Or perhaps not!
He is also so SO tall (I am too) he's about to grow out of his Mother's Choice carseat in the rear-facing mode, even though it's rated to 9kg and he just passed 6kg. Eep!
Shots on Tuesday, I'm worried about how I will cope. I hated him having his heel *****s when he had jaundice in hospital.
